A STUDY IN SCARLET - FULL AudioBook - by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle - (Sherlock Holmes) | GreatestAudioBooks.com V6 - A Study in Scarlet is a detective mystery novel written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, introducing his new characters, "consulting detective" Sherlock Holmes and his friend and chronicler, Dr. John Watson, who later became two of the most famous characters in literature.
Conan Doyle wrote the story in 1886, and it was published the following year. The book's title derives from a speech given by Holmes to Doctor Watson on the nature of his work, in which he describes the story's murder investigation as his "study in scarlet": "There's the scarlet thread of murder running through the colourless skein of life, and our duty is to unravel it, and isolate it, and expose every inch of it."(A "study" is a preliminary drawing, sketch or painting done in preparation for a finished piece.)
The story, and its main characters, attracted little public interest when it first appeared. Only 11 complete copies of Beeton's Christmas Annual 1887 are known to exist now and they have considerable value. Although Conan Doyle wrote 56 short stories featuring Holmes, A Study in Scarlet is one of only four full-length novels in the original canon. The novel was followed by The Sign of the Four, published in 1890. A Study in Scarlet was the first work of detective fiction to incorporate the magnifying glass as an investigative tool.

The events in the stories take place from about 1880 to 1914.
All but four stories are narrated by Holmes's friend and biographer, Dr. John H. Watson. Two are narrated by Holmes himself ("The Adventure of the Blanched Soldier" and "The Adventure of the Lion's Mane"), and two others are written in the third person ("The Adventure of the Mazarin Stone" and "His Last Bow"). In two stories ("The Adventure of the Musgrave Ritual" and "The Adventure of the Gloria Scott"), Holmes tells Watson the story from memory, with Watson narrating the frame story. The first and fourth novels, A Study in Scarlet and The Valley of Fear, include long passages of omniscient narrative of events unknown to either Holmes or Watson.

Richard Jones of http://www.jack-the-ripper-tour.com continues his look at the early years of Sherlock Holmes. This instalment covers the arrival in the Doyle household, in 1875, of Dr Bryan Charles Waller, a man who would have a huge impact on the young Conan Doyle's choice of career and who was later the inspiration for some of Holmes's less appealing characteristics. Having discussed the reasons behind the, seemingly, strained relationship between Arthur Conan Doyle and this early mentor, the documentary then looks at the first appearance of Sherlock Holmes in Beeton's Christmas Annual in 1887 and discusses the public reaction to this new detective in a London that was about to face up to the nightmare of the Jack the Ripper murders.

Doyle said that Holmes was inspired by Joseph Bell, a surgeon at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for whom he had worked as a clerk. Like Holmes, Bell was noted for drawing broad conclusions from minute observations. However, he later wrote to Conan Doyle: "You are yourself Sherlock Holmes and well you know it". Sir Henry Littlejohn, Chair of Medical Jurisprudence at the University of Edinburgh Medical School, is also cited as an inspiration for Holmes. Littlejohn, who was also Police Surgeon and Medical Officer of Health in Edinburgh, provided Doyle with a link between medical investigation and the detection of crime.
Another inspiration is thought to be Francis "Tanky" Smith, a policeman and master of disguise who went on to become Leicester's first private detective.

Sherlock Holmes is a fictional character created by British author and physician Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. A London-based "consulting detective" whose abilities border on the fantastic, Holmes is known for his astute logical reasoning, his ability to adopt almost any disguise, and his use of forensic science to solve difficult cases.
The character first appeared in print in 1887, and was featured in four novels and 56 short stories by Conan Doyle, as well as later works by other authors. The first novel, A Study in Scarlet, appeared in Beeton's Christmas Annual in 1887 and the second, The Sign of the Four, in Lippincott's Monthly Magazine in 1890. The character's popularity grew with the first series of short stories in The Strand Magazine, beginning with "A Scandal in Bohemia" in 1891; additional short-story series and two novels (published in serial form) appeared from then to 1927.

The Red House was a monitoring station for the Virgina Gold Hill Waterworks. Its a haunted site my son and I heard little kids giggling in the woods yet we were alone up here minus the horseback riders who stayed on the wagon road. Houses like these could be found along the creeks and reservoirs in order to monitor the pipelines and dams in the region that supplied water to the Comstock of Virgini

There are 6 Scientist you can find in Blast Corps. The scientist have to be collected after finishing the mission once. After that, start the mission again and take your time without the ticking clock. After finding a scientist, you have to finish the mission to get credit for it and collect the achievement at the end.
TEMPEST CITY (00:14)
The first scientist in Tempest City can be found near your spawn point. Turn right and drive to the end of the street. A little bit further to your left are 3 rocket crates. Pick them up and shoot the big block that is hiding a runway that is leading to the upper platform. Drive up there and shoot the stone squares to get to the scientist. Don't forget to finish the mission after this, or the scientist won't count ;).
EBONY COAST (01:22)
Turn around and push the TNT into the rock that is blocking the tunnel. Now park your vehicle on the train and enter the train. Go all the way to the end of the tracks and jump back into your vehicle. Crash into the building on the right side (The building has to be hit from the angle in the video or it's almost impossible to bring it down). Push the TNT onto the train platform and take the train back to the beginning and through the open tunnel. Stop the train so that the TNT is next to the statue. This will unlock the mech. Take control of it and use the jetpack to get to the platform directly behind the mech. Walk a bit to the left and follow the edge to the end until you reach a wall. Turn left twice now to find the scientist.
IRONSTONE MINE (04:35)
Follow the train tracks until you find the train and take it all the way back. Exit and take the small bridge and walk past the crane. There is a small walkway on the right that takes you to the RamDozer. Drive it down, and park it on the crane platform. Lift the RamDozer over the gap where the TNT is placed. Push the explosives into the structure next to it to open up a secret road that leads you underground. The scientist is located in the back of this little maze.
ARGENT TOWER (07:34)
Near your spawn point on the left, you can find a grey block. Push it aside and walk down to the RamDozer. Push the TNT into the little door and enter the train. Drive it to the next exit and get out. Go back to the blown up door and enter it again. Now that the train is gone you can run into the tunnel. Stay left and push against the wall while you walk forward. There is an opening that leads you to a new vehicle and a maze. Follow the video to find the scientist.
GLORY CROSSING (09:45)
Follow the red light on the ground to the yellow truck and turn left. Drive through the little underground passage and pick up the next scientist.
OYSTER HARBOR (10:27)
Get to the RamDozer and follow the map straight until you get to the boats. Get onto the third one and position it on the right side. Get out, take the bridge and position the second boat as well. Now get onto the first boat and ride it all the way to the left to get the TNT. Use the RamDozer to get it in the boat and head back to the right side. You now want to get the TNT to the Stone that is blocking the third boat. Blow the blockade up and take the boat to the far right side. The last scientist will be waiting for you there.

Oh boy, the Sideswipe! ...I can barely contain my excitement for what surely could've been done more efficiently with basically any other vehicle! ...except maybe the Backlash. Although I'm almost positive even that would have greater peak efficiency... it's just that it'll take several tries to actually swing that peak efficiency, and with greater frustration. So... thanks, Sideswipe, for not being the Backlash yet again! (Don't worry, we'll see that thing more than we ever cared to anyway.)
Okay, so I think even that's a little over the line, because I don't really hate the Sideswipe at all... it's just weird. It naturally lends itself to all kinds of "what were you thinking?" sorts of questions. However, I'm beginning to notice a trend... it was obviously made for crushing the monotonous tedium of small-scale wide-area construction. In other words, it was the absolute most logical response to suburban sprawl and office parks. Those uninspired monuments to uniformity and order are going down!
I'd also point out, in case it hasn't happened already... the Sideswipe has a very unique and winding handling style... but at the same time, it maintains a bizarrely smooth and consistent speed. It's not going to win any awards for its sluggish rate of travel or just slightly wide and uncompromising turns necessary for its weaponized trailer... but still, the movements feel somewhat... hypnotic. I am the snake charmer and I am being charmed likewise by this snake! (Does it still work that way if I've clearly become aware of what's going on here?)
Anyway, the really weird thing is how I could manage to completely avoid noticing the Thunderfist until it was conveniently impossible to set it free... and this is doubly irritating because I vaguely remember this having been a thing that was done specifically in some stage or another... and I guess that stage is here and now. Actually, the Blast Corps transportation chiefs seem to have a funny habit of hiding the Thunderfist inside of buildings without actually telling anyone, so I guess it's their way of trying to "help" with the overall secondary goal of total destruction... "thanks" guys.
Of course, a really big hint should've been just how difficult it was to destroy certain buildings at this point, but I really just believed it was because I was hitting with the rams not properly extended... and then the REALLY big buildings came up and I just kept doing the same thing with minimal results. I'm actually slightly impressed I got a reaction out of the building at all, seeing as how it DID take on the "I'm starting to break a little bit!" discoloration effect. That said, please don't try that at home, because it's just silly and a little bit frustrating and embarrassing a realization.
The thing that surprises me most is JUST after I paid him a compliment for his effectiveness and punctuality of his warning last stage, there's basically NO real warning for this case. Must be some weird misinterpretation of coordinates for building edges.
Anyway, if you can transfer vehicles without weird incident, everything just crumbles for the Thunderfist... with time left enough for some weirdly robotic(imagine that!) fist pumps.

The Red House was a monitoring station for the Virgina Gold Hill Waterworks. Its a haunted site my son and I heard little kids giggling in the woods yet we were alone up here minus the horseback riders who stayed on the wagon road. Houses like these could be found along the creeks and reservoirs in order to monitor the pipelines and dams in the region that supplied water to the Comstock of Virginia City. Sadly on one fateful night in 1911 the wives of two caretakers were killed when the dam broke and yes the site is haunted. In this clip ill take you on the wagon road to the Red House all the way on the grounds to an actual exploration of the inside of it so you get everything in regards to this historic property located deep in the national forest. The house is a bit eerie it also has a 1924 dodge parked out front of it and could be considered to be one of the last remaining remnants of upper Franktown.

Napisao je i dužu knjigu The Great Boer War 1900.

Napisao je The Crime Of The Congo 1909., dugi pamflet koji opisuje zločine u Kongu.
Doyle je pokopan u crkvenom dvorištu u Minsteadu u New Forest, Hampshire, Engleska.
