Despite rumors that he was under house arrest or even dead, former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin appeared alongside Xi Jinping and other Chinese officials of the National Day celebration, marking 65 years of Communist rule over China. What does this mean for Xi Jinping's battle against Jiang's Shanghai clique? And how does it tie back to the student protesters of Occupy Central in Hong Kong? Follow us on TWITTER: http://twitter.com/cnforbiddennews Like us on FACEBOOK: http://www.facebook.com/chinaforbiddennews Following the downfall of Xu Caihou, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, the leading Chinese Communist Party (CCP) mouthpieces released articles implying that Xu's boss is a party-leader-level "super big tiger". Commentators claim that, former CCP leader Jiang Zemin had used corruption and blackmail to make party and military officers loyal to him. As Jiang's followers fall from their positions one by one they must have confessed their connection with Jiang. If so, the current leader Xi Jinping would unavoidably have to take down Jiang Zemin himself in the end. Soon after Xu Caihou's downfall, CCP mouthpieces Xinhuanet.com and People.cn both published an article titled: "Why does French procuratorate dare to investigate the former president?" The article questioned "Are there higher-level corrupt officials behind those who have fallen?" "Who 'trained' and promoted those corrupt officials?" "Are those promotions intentionally made to serve for someone or simply oversights?" The article further commented that some Chinese might think that investigation of presidential-level individuals such as Sarkozy is shameful to the state. Therefore there are always groups who spare no efforts to protect former party leaders in China. "Indeed, that is nothing but their wishful thinking and Chinese people won't regard it as a shame." ultimate courage and investigate Sarkozy-level "big tigers", saying "Eliminate them, now or never". Xia Xiaoqiang, political commentator:"Two possibilities here. The first is to make preparations for future moves against Jiang Zemin. The second can be a reflection of public opinions. The fact is, Jiang Zemin is the culprit that almost every Chinese detests for his persecution of ordinary people. Without taking down Jiang, Chinese society can hardly get onto the track for sound development." After simultaneous publication by two party mouthpieces, the article was widely copied by most Chinese major news websites. On July 11, Mingjingnews.com, an overseas Chinese website that is said to relate to Jiang Zemin, published an article saying that Xinhua's article was a call to investigate Jiang Zemin without naming him. The article said Jiang Zemin made the decision to persecute Falun Gong and inhuman atrocities such as live organ harvesting; It was also Jiang that put Bo Xilai and Zhou Yongkang up to plot the military coup against Xi Jinping; Jiang also made several attempts to assassinate Hu Jintao, and asked Zhou Yongkang to assassinate Xi Jinping twice. The article said, all those acts seriously hit Xi Jinping's bottom line and Xi has no reason to let him off. The article commented that Chinese media were trying to make people feel that Xu Caihou's downfall would soon lead to Jiang's doom. The author however believes that it is still not the right time for Xi Jinping to arrest Jiang; Xi needs more preparations in future "tiger hunting" battles and propaganda campaign. Liu Yinquan, former Chinese professor of history:"After being put into prison, Guo Boxiong and Xu Caihou will definitely say that they had followed Jiang's orders. Zhou Yongkang embezzled a lot and most of the money must have been submitted to Jiang. Therefore Zhou also has to confess to that, to save his own life. All corrupt officials will finally give up Jiang's name after falling. I believe the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) already has a full house of materials against Jiang, So Xi will unavoidably encounter Jiang even if he does not want to." The CCDI recently said that over 60,000 high-level CCP officials had fallen in the anti-corruption campaign. Jiang Zemin's agent in army, Xu Caihou was announced by Xi Jinping himself to be expelled from the party and was transferred to military procuratorate. Zhou Yongkang is believed to be already under control. Li Dongsheng was also arrested. The former head of CCTV and Minister for Public Security had helped Jiang in persecuting Falun Gong by plotting the false "self-immolation" stunt in Tiananmen Square. Another of Jiang's followers in the army, Guo Boxiong was detained in Qincheng Prison on corruption charges. Guo's son, Guo Zhenggang and his wife were also brought away by Military Discipline Inspection officers for investigation. Since last October, Jiang Zemin's name has "disappeared" many times off official reports of memorial meetings. On July 14, CCP mouthpiece reported that Xi Jinping, Hu Jintao and Zhu Rongji attended the memorial meeting of a provincial standing committee member in Tibet. Jiang's name was not in the report, which is regarded as 《神韵》2014世界巡演新亮点 http://www.ShenYunPerformingArts.org/

Follow us on TWITTER: http://twitter.com/cnforbiddennews Like us on FACEBOOK: http://www.facebook.com/chinaforbiddennews Jiang Mianheng is the eldest son of the former Chinese Communist (CCP) Party leader Jiang Zemin. He recently resigned his title as the president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Shanghai Branch (CAS). The reason behind his resignation has caused a great deal of speculation. Media at home and abroad as well as observers suspect Xi Jinping will take further steps about Jiang Zemin. State media reported that CAS Shanghai Branch announced Jiang Mianheng 's resignation because of his age. However, the age excuse was not well accepted by outsiders. Jiang, a vice-ministerial level official, was once vice president of CAS and then the president of CAS Shanghai Branch. Public information showed that Jiang, born in April 1951, will be 64 years old in three months. Since former deans retired at the age of 65,70 or 80, Jiang is obviously taking an early retirement. The Communist army history writer Cai Xiaoxin stated on Weibo that Jiang is 'the wilted flower, the defeated general.' Commentator Xing Tianxin, "There are indications that Jiang's resignation does not reflect the true reason. The resignation would not have been of his own volition. It is the decision from above and he must obey. This is a very important signal. Even Jiang Zemin's shield will not save him." Since the downfall of former member of Politburo Standing Committee Zhou Yongkang and former Minister of United Front Work Department Ling Jihua, what does the removal of Jiang's post at CAS mean at this sensitive time? There are various views. One of the views is that his dismissal means the beginning of the Jiangs being 'targeted.' Independent commentator Li Shanjian "It is clear that this is the beginning or a harbinger of the attack against the Jiangs." Xing Tianxin, "Jiang Mianheng was formerly known as China's first greed. In the current campaign of anti-graft, everyone is observing the direction of the wind. Whether or not Jiang Zemin will be hit, Jiang Mianheng is the key person. As the eldest son of Jiang Zemin, his downfall suggests that Jiang Zemin's status is very dangerous." There is also the view that Xi Jinping only intends to weaken the influence of Jiang Zemin and that once the Jiangs are out of the public, Xi will not target Jiang Zemin. But Xing Tianxin indicates that prior to the downfall of Zhou Yongkang, Ling Jihua, Xu Caihou and others, there were also analysts believing that Xi Jinping will not hit them but only remove their minions. But the fact is that none of them were spared. Likewise, as their patron and mastermind, Jiang Zemin will not escape the liquidation. Xing Tianxin, "Xi Jinping owes the people a satisfactory explanation. For decades, the root causes of the corruption ought to be explained and resolved in order to regain peoples' trust. His anti-graft movement would be pointless if he does not investigate on Jiang Zemin." At the New Year, Jiang Zemin and his family, along with Hainan Provincial Party Secretary Luo Baoming, visited Dongshan Ridge in Hainan. Multiple websites reported the news on Jan. 3. But all relevant reports were removed just an hour after the report. Immediately on Jan. 4, Hainan officialdom experienced a reaction. Xi Jinping appointed his crony, Liu Cigui, as the interim governor of Hainan Province. Former governor, Jiang Dingzhi, also known to be closely associated with Jiang faction, retired. This personnel arrangement was viewed as a public slap on the face and warning to Jiang Zemin. 《神韵》2015世界巡演新亮点 http://www.ShenYunPerformingArts.org/

Follow us on TWITTER: http://twitter.com/cnforbiddennews Like us on FACEBOOK: http://www.facebook.com/chinaforbiddennews During the 2015 New Year holiday mainland media published former Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leader Jiang Zemin and his three generation family tourism. But the story and related information was deleted at the same day. On Jan. 4, Nanjing Party Secretary Yang Weize was sacked in Jiang's hometown, Jiangsu Province. The same day, Jiang Dingzhi, former vice Jiangsu governor, and current Hainan governor resigned from his position. Analysis is that such series of actions are the counterattacks from current CCP leader Xi Jinping against Jiang Zemin. On Jan. 3, several Chinese portal sites quoted Hainan Dongshanling public micro-channel account’s information. It reported that three generations of the Jiang family went to Hainan Dongshanling at the New year along with photos. In the picture, Jiang walked with assistance. The picture caption read: Jiang told Hainan Provincial Party Secretary Luo Baoming that “We should promote Hainan’s famous view and I will help you promote it when I go back to Beijing. There will be people everywhere at that time.” Before leaving, Jiang Zemin also said loudly that his trip was worthwhile. But the related information was soon deleted. On Jan. 4, at Jiang Zemin’s hometown of Jiangsu Province, Nanjing Party Secretary Yang Weize’s downfall was the first deputy provincial official to be investigated in 2015. At the same day, the Hainan governor Jiang Dingzhi also resigned from the governor position Weize and Jiang Dingzhi all belong to the Jiang faction. It should be Xi Jinping’s high-profile counterattack on Jiang Zemin to sack one and make the other one resign. Gu Chunqiu: “Jiang's appearance is believed to be a comeback signal. He still wants to continue to fight with Xi Jinping since the Jiang faction was constantly being cleaned. It’s very fast for Yang Weize’s downfall which means a counterattack action to Jiang’s appearance.” 江苏是江泽民的老家所在地。 Jiangsu is Jiang Zemin's home location. 60 year old Jiang Dingzhi was born in Jiangsu Liyang. Before 2010 in the Hainan Provincial Committee, he served as the General Office director of Zhenjiang city. He also was Yangzhong Party Secretary, Wuxi Party Secretary and Jiangsu Vice Governor. In October 2013, it was said Jiang Dingzhi was investigated for promotion by bribing Zhou Yongkang’s secretary and son. Coincidentally, the 53-year-old Yang Weize is also from Jiangsu. He has served as Suzhou mayor, Wuxi and Nanjing Municipal Party Secretary, and in other positions. Local media reported, on Jan. 3, Yang hosted Nanjing New Year's Day marathon relay. A local source said that on Jan. 4 retired Nanjing officials were also told to have a meeting with Yang on Jan. 6. On Jan. 4, mainland Caixin website hinted that Yang Weize was involved in Zhou Yongkang case. From 2004 to 2006, Yang served as Wu Xi Party secretary at Zhou Yongkang’s hometown Jiangsu. During the Caixin interview, there were many stories of how Yang Weize got close to Zhou Yongkang by frequently being around Zhou Yongkang’s relatives. In September 2013, several overseas media reported, Yang Weize gave Zhou Yang female anchors. He had relationships with these female anchors. It’s said Yang Weize also gave Zhou Yongkang’s brother, sister and son Zhou Bin a lot of benefits. Chinese legal expert Zhao Yuanming: “We may find more direct and indirect crime evidence and information from Zhou Yongkang because he did too many bad things. He committed crime all the time. I feel Nanjiang’s cadres will fall collectively and there might be similar issue in other cities in China.” For the past couple of years the Jiangsu official earthquake continued after Jiang Zemin’s housekeeper Ji Jianye was 《神韵》2015世界巡演新亮点 http://www.ShenYunPerformingArts.org/

Follow us on TWITTER: http://twitter.com/cnforbiddennews Like us on FACEBOOK: http://www.facebook.com/chinaforbiddennews On Jan.24, Hong Kong Economic Journal quoted sources from Beijing, which said Jia Tingan, PLA general and deputy director of the PLA’s General Political Department, had been placed under investigation by Central Commission of Discipline Inspection (CCDI) on the 23rd. Jia was said to have attended the condolence ceremony of the deceased former Vice Chairman of Central Military Commssion, Zhang Wannian, on the previous day. The report stressed the fact that Jia Tingan used to be long-term secretary of former CCP leader Jiang Zemin. On Jan.13, a latest Yanhuang Chunqiu article detailed how former deputy naval commander Wang Shouye was promoted despite his serious problems. Wang had been sentenced to life imprisonment on corruption charges. The article suggests that Jia Tingan and Jiang Zemin were Wang’s backstage bosses. So far the CCDI has not officially confirmed the investigation of Jia Tingan. Shanghai Civilians Respond to Mayor's Comments on Stampede with Resignation Call On Jan.25, Shanghai mayor Yang Xiong made governmental work report at a municipal People’s Congress meeting. Yang commented on the stampede accident, claiming they felt “extremely sorrowful, guilty and self-condemned. Yang said, the involved responsible ones had been “strictly held accountable” for the stampede. Yang’s words again drew anger from Shanghai civilians. Many demanded the resignation of municipal leaders. Netizens left online messages such as “You felt guilty? Then just resign”. Reportedly, 36 died and 49 injured during the stampede accident on New Year Eve at the Bund. Last week, Shanghai government announced discipline on 11 district-level officials, including the party secretary and president of Huangpu District. However, no municipal-level officials are held accountable for the accident. A Free Asia Radio report quoted interviews from Shanghai civilians, who said no matter what party officials said, Shanghai people would always be unhappy if the mayor and the party secretary escaped punishment. Shenzhen: Over a Thousand Kaisa House Owners Demonstrate On Jan.24, over a thousand owners of Kaisa Group’s apartments demonstrated at the square where the municipal government of Shenzhen is located. They wore white t-shirts reading “I Love My Home” and shouted slogans of “Return Houses to Us”. Protesters sat still in the square, demanding the authority protect their rights. Hundreds of police officers guarded the demonstration and 2 protestors were arrested. Since late 2014, five housing projects of Kaisa Group were consecutively frozen from sales by the authority in Shenzhen. Following this, Kaisa experienced chairman's resignation, debt defaults and mass cooperation termination. Over 20 financial institutions also issued requests to freeze Kaisa’s properties. All this chain of incidents shocked Kaisa’s house owners, as they are afraid of losing all their payments. Consequently, Kaisa’s house owners in Shenzhen began rights defending demonstration in mid-January. 《神韵》2015世界巡演新亮点 http://www.ShenYunPerformingArts.org/

Follow us on TWITTER: http://twitter.com/cnforbiddennews Like us on FACEBOOK: http://www.facebook.com/chinaforbiddennews Is the former Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leader Jiang Zemin is alive or dead? It became the hot topic in overseas media and mainland after the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman gave a response. Overseas media published various interpretations based on the Chinese Foreign Ministry response. Some said the response indicated Jiang's critical condition; perhaps not dead, but either way not much difference. Some also said that the Foreign Ministry's attitude shows Jiang Zemin alive or dead is not important for the Party. This topic became hot in the mainland as well. Peoples' opinions even split into two groups. One group hopes Jiang Zemin died because he is so hateful. They will set off fireworks, and eat moon cake in celebration. The other group strongly hopes he is still living because he needs to be tried for his sins. Otherwise, he got off lightly. On Sept. 9, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman responded at a regular news conference about Jiang Zemin's death; "I can't confirm it because it was the first time I heard the news." It's believed by the outside world that this excuse is very tricky and releases a lot of information. Global Times Online Statement Cursed by Netziens. On Sept.10, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) mouthpiece Global Times published a signed article that to love China is to love the Communist Party. It received ridicule and curses among the mainland netizens. This article, entitled "Patriotism and love of the party is the same in China" said that due to the infiltration of Western ideology, being patriotic but not necessarily loving the Party and the government is very popular among young people. Mostly those born in the 1980's and 90's. They also dug the Communist Party's ruling foundation brazenly." The article claimed that Patriotism and love of the party are essentially the same. This is because the CCP is centralized reflection and the outstanding representative for Chinese peoples' interests. The article has been ridiculed by a large number of netizens on the mainland website Sina microblog. Some argued that, "based on this logic, loving the country was to love the Republic of China and the Nationalist Party because they are the People's Republic of China establishments. Was it a betrayal to overthrow the Republic of China and drive out the Nationalist Party?" Some people cursed, "it's pure bullying for the mouthpiece to shamelessly advocate loving the party state!" Teachers' Day, Seeking Explanation From The Education Ministry. Sept. 10 is mainland Teachers' Day. Dozens of dismissed private teachers and substitute teachers petitioned in front of the Ministry of Education in Beijing. According to mainland Livelihood Watch website report, these teachers are from Zhejiang, Xinjiang, Hebei, Anhui and other areas. They petitioned for their own security, medical benefits, and better treatment. Thousands of private teachers protested at Xincheng square in front of Shaanxi government. They are dissatisfied with the solution for local private teachers. According to the report, they held banners requesting a dialogue with the Vice Governor; But the banner was grabbed by the police. 《神韵》2014世界巡演新亮点 http://www.ShenYunPerformingArts.org/

South China Morning Post 2015-03-16Jiang Zemin (born 17 August 1926) is a former Chinese politician, who served as General Secretary of the Communist Party of China from 1989 to 2002, as President of the People's Republic of China from 1993 to 2003, and as Chairman of the Central Military Commission from 1989 to 2005. His long career and political prominence have led to him being described as the "core of the third generation" of Communist Party leaders.
Jiang Zemin came to power following Tiananmen Square protests of 1989, replacing Zhao Ziyang as CPC General Secretary. With the waning influence of Deng Xiaoping and the other members of Eight Elders due to old age,and with the help of old and powerful party and state leaders, former President Li Xiannian and Chen Yun Jiang effectively became the "Paramount Leader" in the 1990s. Under his leadership, China experienced substantial developmental growth with reforms, saw the peaceful return of Hong Kong from the United Kingdom and Macau from Portugal, and improved its relations with the outside world while the Communist Party maintained its tight control over the government. Jiang has been criticized for being too concerned about his personal image at home, and too conciliatory towards Russia and the United States abroad.
