TOKYO — Are vaginas obscene? Most of us entered the world via a vagina. Many more of us have had contact with this body part, either by virtue of owning one or by convincing someone who owns one to allow said contact. Last year, TomoNews brought you the story of 43-year-old Japanese artist Megumi Igarashi, who works under the pseudonym "Rokudenask-ko."
She was first thrust into the spotlight in 2013 and again in 2014 as works of hers, all based on her own vulva, offended some and sparked investigations. But her arrest in late 2014 on obscenity charges came after she crowdfunded an art project that is now famous: the vagina kayak.
For approximately US$100, contributors received a 3D scan of Igarashi's 'secret garden,' an image the artist argues is not inherently salacious.
Prosecutors said others might create obscene objects with her art, but Igarashi and her lawyers say her own female genitalia is the subject of her art, and in no way should her actions be deemed obscene. The court will rule on May 9, 2016.
For a nation famous for its risqué pornography, Japanese obscenity laws are actually quite strict, requiring that "adult films" place mosaics around the genitals of pornographic actors and actresses. There are exceptions to this rule, as well as reports that enterprising individuals have found ways around the mosaics.
Japan's Penal Code prescribes a maximum sentence of two years in prison or a fine of up to ¥2.5 million for distributing "obscene" objects.

5 Most Obscene Companies. These companies have taken obscene and obscure to a whole new level. Monsanto made the list of course but they didn't even get first place!
At number 5 we have Volkswagen. Volkswagen was suggested by AN225brando.
We all know that pollution is out of control, in large due to car emissions. For that reason, regulations were put in place. It is up to car manufacturers to ensure that the amount of pollutants that their cars pump out meets regulations. The E.P.A. sets emissions standards tests to only 10 to 15 percent of new cars annually and instead relies on “self certification” by auto manufacturers. Volkswagen abused that level of trust.
Going from bad to worse we find Bayer in the number 4 spot. Bayer was suggested by Ed Somewhere.
Bayer is a German multinational chemical and pharmaceutical company that knowingly sold HIV-contaminated blood products to haemophiliacs, thousands of whom later died of AIDS. In the 1980s, the Cutter Biological unit of Bayer ignored federal law and recruited prisoners, intravenous drug users, and high-risk gay men as blood donors. The department then used this blood to create the clotting product that haemophiliacs need in order to not bleed to death.
To date Bayer has paid out almost 400 million dollars to the victims as part of different settlements.
Which brings us to number 3, Turing Pharmaceuticals. It was suggested by Daedalus Gaming.
At the head of this company is the notorious Martin Shkreli. A controversial dickhead who decided to raise the price of a critical drug for HIV and cancer patients by 5000% after buying the company that manufactures this drug. Daraprim is a drug used to treat parasitic infections in people with compromised immune systems. These people need this drug as they may die if they’re not able to buy it. But that didn't prevent Shkreli and his obscure company to spike prices from $13.50 to $750 a pill.
At number 2 we find Monsanto as suggested by Brad Gray.
Of course THESE guys made the list. They have a long history of being involved in scandals and we’re sure they’re only going to add on to their "legacy" over these next few years. It all started shortly after the second world war...and it started with a big bang. A Monsanto plastics factory exploded due to a French freighter loaded with nitrate, causing 500 deaths in Texas City in 1947.
A further study learned that Monsanto had been aware of this since 1938, yet continued to sell the product even after the explosion that exposed them. For another 33 years no less!

-Whales and dolphins in their natural ocean environment often swim up to 100 miles a day, but SeaWorld forces them to live in tiny pools. That would be similar to forcing a person to live in a bathtub. It's completely unfair, and it's not fair to do that to an animal just so it can be "used" to entertain an ignorant crowd.

Many cultures have produced laws to define what is considered to be obscene, and censorship is often used to try to suppress or control materials that are obscene under these definitions: usually including, but not limited to, pornographic material. As such censorship restricts freedom of expression, crafting a legal definition of obscenity presents a civil liberties issue.

Marilyn Manson (born Brian Hugh Warner; January 5, 1969) is an American musician, artist and former music journalist known for his controversial stage persona and image as the lead singer of the eponymous band Marilyn Manson. Many more of us have had contact with this body part, either by virtue of owning one or by convincing someone who owns one to allow said contact. Last year, TomoNews brought you the story of 43-year-old Japanese artist Megumi Igarashi, who works under the pseudonym "Rokudenask-ko." She was first thrust into the spotlight in 2013 and again in 2014 as works of hers, all based on her own vulva, offended some and sparked investigations. For a nation famous for its risqué pornography, Japanese obscenity laws are actually quite strict, requiring that "adult films" place mosaics around the genitals of pornographic actors and actresses. There are exceptions to this rule, as well as reports that enterprising individuals have found ways around the mosaics.
Japan's Penal Code prescribes a maximum sentence of two years in prison or a fine of up to ¥2.5 million for distributing "obscene" objects.

5 Most Obscene Companies. These companies have taken obscene and obscure to a whole new level. Monsanto made the list of course but they didn't even get first place!
At number 5 we have Volkswagen. Volkswagen was suggested by AN225brando.
We all know that pollution is out of control, in large due to car emissions. For that reason, regulations were put in place. It is up to car manufacturers to ensure that the amount of pollutants that their cars pump out meets regulations. The E.P.A. sets emissions standards tests to only 10 to 15 percent of new cars annually and instead relies on “self certification” by auto manufacturers. Volkswagen abused that level of trust.
Going from bad to worse we find Bayer in the number 4 spot. Bayer was suggested by Ed Somewhere.
Bayer is a German multinational chemical and pharmaceutical company that knowingly sold HIV-contaminated blood products to haemophiliacs, thousands of whom later died of AIDS. In the 1980s, the Cutter Biological unit of Bayer ignored federal law and recruited prisoners, intravenous drug users, and high-risk gay men as blood donors. The department then used this blood to create the clotting product that haemophiliacs need in order to not bleed to death.
To date Bayer has paid out almost 400 million dollars to the victims as part of different settlements.
Which brings us to number 3, Turing Pharmaceuticals. It was suggested by Daedalus Gaming.
At the head of this company is the notorious Martin Shkreli. A controversial dickhead who decided to raise the price of a critical drug for HIV and cancer patients by 5000% after buying the company that manufactures this drug. Daraprim is a drug used to treat parasitic infections in people with compromised immune systems. These people need this drug as they may die if they’re not able to buy it. But that didn't prevent Shkreli and his obscure company to spike prices from $13.50 to $750 a pill.
At number 2 we find Monsanto as suggested by Brad Gray.
Of course THESE guys made the list. They have a long history of being involved in scandals and we’re sure they’re only going to add on to their "legacy" over these next few years. It all started shortly after the second world war...and it started with a big bang. A Monsanto plastics factory exploded due to a French freighter loaded with nitrate, causing 500 deaths in Texas City in 1947.
A further study learned that Monsanto had been aware of this since 1938, yet continued to sell the product even after the explosion that exposed them. For another 33 years no less!

-Orcas in the wild normally live between 30 to 50 years. Their maximum lifespan is between 60-70 years for males and between 80-100 for females. The average age of orcas who have died in captivity is only 13 years old. Those are some pretty shocking numbers that speak for themselves.
- Animals Suffer in Cramped Spaces
-Whales and dolphins in their natural ocean environment often swim up to 100 miles a day, but SeaWorld forces them to live in tiny pools. That would be similar to forcing a person to live in a bathtub. It's completely unfair, and it's not fair to do that to an animal just so it can be "used" to entertain an ignorant crowd.
