The Cinema of Andhra Pradesh (also known as Telugu cinema or Tollywood) is a South Indian film industry based in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. The Telugu language film industry, being the second largest in India, in terms of market capitalization and infrastructure, holds a memorandum of understanding with Motion Picture Association of America to combat video piracy. As per the CBFC report of 2010, the industry stood third in India, in terms of films produced yearly. The industry holds the Guinness World Record for the largest film production facility in the world.

Moola Narayana Swamy and B. N. Reddy founded Vijaya Vauhini Studios in 1948 based in Chennai.Indian film doyen, L. V. Prasad who started his film career with Bhakta Prahlada has founded Prasad Studios in 1956 based in Chennai. However, through the efforts of D. V. S. Raju, the Telugu film industry has completely shifted its base from Chennai to Hyderabad in the early 1990s, during N. T. Rama Rao's political realm.

Veteran actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao was the first person to come to Hyderabad and build a studio, which he named Annapurna Studios. The Telugu film industry is one of the three largest film producers in India. About 245 Telugu films were produced in 2006, the highest in India for that year. Film producing studios in Andhra Pradesh, developed by D. Ramanaidu and Ramoji Rao are involved in prolific film production and employment.

J.D. Chakravarthy (born Nagulapati Srinivasa Chakravarthy; Telugu: నగులపతి శ్రీనివాస చక్రవర్తి) is an Indian film actor and director known for his works in South Indian film industry and Bollywood. He was starred in Hindi films like Shiva, Satya, Vaastu Shastra and Aag. He has directed films like Darwaza Bandh Rakho, Darna Zaroori Hai, Homam and Sidham.

He is best known in Telugu cinema for his commendable performances in Money, Gulabi, Anaganaga Oka Roju, Premaku Velayara, Wife of V. Varaprasad, Egire Paavurama, Bombay Priyudu, Pape Naa Pranam, Deyyam, Mrugam and Madhyanam Hathya.

Chakravarthy was born in a Telugu Brahmin family, to carnatic singer Dr. Santha Kovela Nagulapati and Suryanarayana Rao Nagulapati. He did his schooling in St. George's Grammar School (Hyderabad) and has completed B.E. from CBIT in Hyderabad.

He debuted in 1989 through Ram Gopal Verma's debut Telugu film, Siva in a negative role as a student named J.D., and a supporting role in a Malayalam movie Ennodishtam Koodamo before devoting all his time to films under his mentor's Ram Gopal Verma's production. His first Hindi film in a lead role, released in theaters on 3 July 1998. Satya was critically acclaimed and was a commercial blockbuster.

Lieutenant General Siva Kumar, AVSM VSM (born January 29, 1948 in Madras, India) was the third and final Force commander of UN troops serving in Rwanda.

Kumar was born in Madras, India. As a youth, he attended St. Thomas High School, Loyola College and Presidency College where he earned a Bachelor's of Science. He is a graduate of the staff course at the Defence Services Staff College and has attended both Higher Command and National Defence College.

In August 1967, Kumar was commissioned from Officers Training Academy at the age of 19. He joined the Jat Regiment on June 23 1968, and later commanded the regiment in Arunachal Pradesh and Bikaner, Rajasthan. He also commanded a division of the Assam Rifles in the Ukhrul district of Northeastern Manipur.

He has been awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal.

Kumar acted as second-in-command of UNAMIR until Guy Tousignant's parting on December 8 1995, when he assumed acting command until the mission's completion in March 1996. He oversaw 1,252 troops and military support personnel, 146 military observers, 56 United Nations Volunteers and approximately 160 international and 160 local civilian staff. The Indian army contingent under UNAMIR consisted of an Infantry Battalion 1/3 Gurkha Rifles, an Engineers company commanded by Maj B Pandey and a Signals company commanded by Maj AV Malhotra. Kumar was also the head of the Indian contingent.

Kavita Subramaniam née Kavita Krishnamurthy (born Sharada Krishnamurthy on 25 January 1958) is a well-known Indian film playback singer. She is classically trained and has sung a wide range of classical-based songs. In her career, she has worked with a variety of music composers, including R. D. Burman and A. R. Rahman. She is also the recipient of four Filmfare Best Female Playback Awards, including 3 consecutive awards in the period 1994–1996 and the prestigious Padmashri which she received in 2006.

Born Sharada Krishnamurthy in a Tamil Iyer family in New Delhi, India to T.S. Krishnamurthy, an employee of Education Ministry. She began her music training with her aunt, Mrs. Bhattacharya, who taught her Rabindra Sangeet. She began her formal training in Hindustani classical music under Balram Puri, a classical singer.

At the young age of eight, Kavita won a gold medal at a music competition. Subsequently, she kept winning many such gold medals as she kept participating in the Inter-Ministry Classical Competition in New Delhi in the mid 1960s.

Renuka Shahane (born March 27, 1965) is an Indian actress working in the Bollywood film industry and in Indian television, best known as the presenter of Doordarshan TV show Surabhi (1993–2001).

Renuka Shahane was born in Maharashtra. She studied Arts from Mithibai college. She is married to Ashutosh Rana, also a Bollywood actor. They have two sons, Shouryaman and Satyendra.

Shahane started her career with the MarathiHach Sunbaicha Bhau film industry and has done many Marathi Films. She then worked in the popular TV show, Surabhi.

She became popular after her role in Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, a 1994 blockbuster film. She released her first Marathi film as a director called Rita. Adapted from her mother Shanta Gokhale's novel, Rita Welingkar, Renuka plays the pivotal role of a friend, guide and philosopher of Rita, the main protagonist. Renuka has Jackie Shroff, Pallavi Joshi, Suhasini Mulay and Mohan Agashe in the cast.

Circus was one of the initial Indian television serials that she starred in. She portrayed the love interest of then relatively unknown Shah Rukh Khan's character. Her role as a strong-willed woman in another television serial Imtihaan was widely appreciated.
