The children going through this trauma may not be able to take out this out of their mind through out their lives. This will cause a big stigma in their lives.

We will never learn. My heart cries and fears that this attack is a statement by the terrorists and a huge one. 'We can breach your strongholds, your most protected of the institutions; everything else is wide open for us'. May Allah protect us all. Give this news coverage a week since the count is high otherwise our memories would have it faded away in two to three days and the whole 'nation' would have switch to the next 'sensation'. Watch the news in the evening and we will have a familiar sight of a N-league rep condemning and criticizing KP and Imran Khan for the dharnas and that would fuel the fading away even further. I wish we were not indifferent, I wish we had retained our morals and values, I wish we had learnt, I wish we learn.

It is shocking loss of so many young lives as it has proven that Government has failed and should tender its resignations. Furthermore when a government is elected through disenfranchisement of voters, it brings an inapt and a corrupt government into power with little or no money available to improve the police service or other agencies to protect the lives and properties of its people. Pakistan is at cross roads and people may want to decide if it is willing to give an elected government a chance notwithstanding how it got elected or appoint a Government of technocrats until reforms including civil military partnership are incorporated into the Pakistani Constitution. Our hearts go out for the departed soul and all those injured.

Animals who perpetrated such an attack must be hanged...along with everybody who supported and harbored such people. And please don't bring that 'these people cannot be muslim' kind of sillyness to the debate. Those animals consider themselves more Muslim than the sad people here.

Why Pakistani people have soft corner for these extremely religious and staunch Muslim terrorists is a puzzle to me. Probably they assume that these terrorists are needed to kill the people from 'evil' neighboring country. Wrong.

Pakistan must eradicate ALL terrorists and have a total ban on weapons. Religion cannot make people good or bad so keep the religion on the backburner and get rid of these highly religious extremists.

Seeing the pic of the young sister holding her brothers hand as they are led away by a man in uniform is poignant. Hope and pray that better sense prevails in all those establishments and institutions in Pak that support and fund terrorism elsewhere . Pain is pain whether in India , Pakistan or Afghanistan. May. God grant the surviving children to withstand the mental trauma and come out of it.

I mentioned this a few weeks ago when it was announced that Kenya will be touring pakistan for an ODI, my concern at thqt time was also that when the Afghans and the Indians read this good news they will do something to give a bad image about Pakistan, look at what has happened now, as these terrorists cannot attack freely in the rest of Pakistan like a Lahore, Islamabad or Karachi... They have gone for the weeakest link which it seems to be a Peshawer, the Pakistan Army needs to do something to tackle this. enough is enough, we should send a strong signal to couple and deli and tell them that they cannot just attack pakistan because they do not like the government.

Dec 16, 2014 03:41pm

@Thiru I would partially agree with you. External Factors cant be and should not be blamed all the time BUT one can not rule them out. As for Pak Army / US, one can not deny history and facts. Things were so different until the US invaded Afghanistan, the latter WAS a strategic asset for Pakistan. The whole world was behind US/Pakistan during USSR occupation of Afghanistan. It is so unfortunate that after the USSR disintegrated, the US became the only super power and Cop of the world. A small country like Pakistan had no choice but to give a nod to anything and everything the Cop said. Any country in place of Pakistan would have done so (under pressure). Now Pakistan is paying the price of supporting US. The US, even with the help of many other powers was not able to accomplish its job in over 10 years in Afghanistan, and even after 1000s of drone strikes in Waziristan. Now they are packing bags (as if they did wonders)....but the problem is still there as it stood in the 1st place (also as in case with Iraq). Pakistan is now prone to such attacks by Afghan/Pak militants who were against US invasion of Afghanistan.

In the 67 years of our history, there was no true democracy in the region, with power shuffling between dictators and pseudo democratic parties who in turn have affiliations to rogue elements, just for political gains. Pakistan Civil society must be strengthened.!!! Unfortunately it will take equally long time to undo the 67 years of mismanagement and rebuild the country safe for every citizen irrespective of their language, ethnicity, religion or customs. Most despicable, cowardly and barbaric Jihadi terrorist act of radical elements in and around Pakistan. We in India share your grief and pray that let good sense prevail on hardliners and anti Pakistan, Anti India and Anti Humanity elements who believe in preaching and propagating violence, and think that anything and everything could be corrected and achieved by violent Jihad. Civil and sane society of Pakistan is requested to condemn violence perpetrated in Indian Kashmir too by state and non-state actors from Pakistan. Violence and radicalism has made this whole piece of land very very poor.

This is shocking. Pakistan as a country is no more - killing their own children!

Time for Pakistan to make social changes - even coming under an Indian confederacy could work here for at least 20 years. Modi can crush these guys - yes he is not muslim, but so what.

your government is no more - too many taliban/isis sympathisers. Sympathisers should be dealt with immediately. Alternatively - its time to hire out blackwater if your army cannot cope. All the taliban devils must die (good and bad ones).

wake up. you can fix this!

who cares about cricket and hockey - your own people are playing a much more dangerous "devil" sport..

@Kaly I am so moved and impressed by comments from Indian readers which indicate that they fully share our grief and treat the besieged and helpless children as if they are their own. The spirit of solidarity shown at the Nobel awards ceremony less than a week ago is resonating again. While our Prime Ministers did not respond to Malala's appeal to show the solidarity with the children, who are not only deprived of the right to education, the children are paying the price of seeking that right in flesh and blood by violence, extremism, hatred , ignorance and bigotry. It is about time that the people of both countries rise together to stop the madness which their political and military leaders have dragged into. Only a joint action can ensure our children's future. The crux of terrorism in India and Pakistan stems from the hatred between the two peoples that has been promoted by vested interrests in both countries.

When will the intelligence agencies rise for the safety and security of the people of Pakistan. We see serious intelligence failures one after the other and when in a war situation vigilance and security should be even more tighter. I am sorry the administration and the security agencies can't just escape without taking the blame and ensure these don't happen again.

I followed the event of Sar-e-Aam program and what happened to the team that tried to expose the culprits and loopholes in the railway cargo. I would have expected the administration of Karachi and the agencies should immediately come in to action and seized sealed the whole cargo to investigate what's been going on, our soldiers are dying and the innocent civilians due to such lack of action.

Indeed the most shameless day in the history of the country. All those who have been advocating talks with these animals & wasting the time of the nation should be slapped on their faces. Operation against these animals should be taken to next level with the policy of "taking no prisoners" as our judiciary & then Human Rights Watch & those who have applied moratorium on putting to death these criminals (now more than 8,000 on death row for the past several years), should be given a shutup call & all these death sentences especially those involved in terrorism must be excercised. Don't know why these lobbies keep telling Pakistan not to execute these criminals, while every day Saudi's, Bangladeshi's & dozens of other countries keep putting their & foreign nationals to death. No ones questions them. Why they don't want Pakistan to serve justice on these animals?

The innocent that were killed are being called martyrs by people and media in Pakistan. A martyr is person who dies for a purpose and is prepared for that. These were young children who went to school for learning. They were not going on a mission. They were not prepared to die. These were just children. So this was plane and brutal murder. While country is at war with Taliban why not the soft targets like schools, hospitals, courts, masjid be well protected, with lots of soldiers, not few. The boundary walls shall have vast area as plain land, all around, then wire fencing. This should be seen thru CCTV by security people.

The Leaders of the country who are and were in favor of talks with Taliban should be immediately removed. Our such leaders have no vision and not wise enough to know that these people are heartless creatures on earth.

But our Leaders spend Nation's money on their luxurious houses like palaces, bullet and bomb proof cars for themselves and their families But these small children are left with very small security in the region where war is going on. Our hearts are weeping. Our condolences to families and friends. Also need to take care of the kids who are saved as they might go in psychological trauma which imprints deep inside. Son, daughter, brother, sister, mother, father, friends and many other relations are way beyond the religion or national boundary and are nourished by humane values. Every person on the earth has the right to hold these relations. Every person on the earth has the right to be happy, be prosperous. And when such an attack on humanity happens, we need to ask ourselves. Should we tolerate the intolerance? Lastly, my heart for the families of the victims and for the general public of the nation.

This war against terrorism would need to be fought through to its logical conclusion. How about instituting a policy that for every such incident no matter where perpetrated by these barbarians, they are made to pay a heavy price with their hideouts bombarded severely, ensuring that militants in multiple times the number who fell victim to their attacks, are eliminated. Relentless pursuit and extermination are the only means that remain.

It is time to set aside the differences and jointly fight for elimination of terrorists within Pakistan- If necessary, there should be no question to seek help and support from neighboring countries including India, Afghanistan and Iran including china if required to cleanse the area once for all. No normal citizen would be safe in these situations and the area - specially Pakistan became a hotbed of breeding terrorists in the name of religion (although it has no relation to Islam and its teachings). Even animals think twice before attacking other animals children. These guys are worse than animals. How can someone even think about harming innocent children forget killing them. Where are we pushing this world to? Looks humanity is losing slowly and unless all of us good humans unite without considering our borders or religion or cast or creed, these cancerous animals would continue to grow and wipe humanity out of this planet. It is high time we all humans unite against terrorism in any form or in any country. May god give the parents the strength (its easy to say) to bear this irreplaceable loss of their loved ones. Violence of this kind is condemnable and we should raise our voices to make the goverments unit together to crush these evil animal forces which may be less than 1% of our human propulation.

At this juncture, take a moment to remember the innocent souls killed in the 2008 Mumbai attacks. Bottom line, Terrorism has no place in any society that wants to be civilized. The time has come for the people of Pakistan to take a stance and root out all forms of terrorism flourishing inside its borders. We pray for you and join hands in destroying those who brought you this pain and injustice!

How am I going to live this life without you? For I only know your laughs and cries, how am i going to hear that voice again?

I held you when you were born, and I kissed your forehead a thousand times. How am I going to live this life without you?

I saw your crawl, and I saw you fall, and I saw you getting up to that resolve. I hugged you, I punished you, I loved you and I hated you. But you came back to me each time, but now that you are gone, how am I going to live this life without you? The morning will come again, and there will be one more afterwards, but knowing that you will not be there makes me empty and meaningless.

My tears, my sorrows, my screams, my cries, will not bring you back to life. I am sorry for not being there when you needed me the most and I beg for that for forgiveness of you and my lord.

I know you are smiling somewhere, thinking about me for sure, and also trying to reach me. But I just can't see you for now as you are probably in a better place. And for now I have to be here, without you, and i don't know how am i going to live this life without you.

I hope and pray - THIS IS IT! No more! Let each and everyone of these 141 innocent lives lost always be a reminder to us, that we cannot let this insanity carry on. We are not dealing with humans - they are barbarians. They have no other motive but to create fear in other people's lives. They cannot be negotiated with. They cannot be reasoned with. They cannot be reformed. Their minds are sick. They are mentally sick and the only way we can feel safe is if they are eliminated. The fact that most of the students in that school belong to the military personnel, the military leaders can probably relate to it. It has hit as close to home as anything could have. Now we know, not doing anything can cause grave consequences - not far away, but right in our own house! I am hoping now the forthcoming news will all be about how we are eliminating these non-humans from the soil of Pakistan. Maybe we can go back to living the lives of security, peace and prosperity. God knows - we all deserve it!

Tears have filled my eyes all day even now while I write, as a father, I am distraught. I lower my head in disbelief and look to heaven for comfort. I cannot begin to imagine what the families, friends and loved ones are going through on this most difficult of days.

Today is not a day to blame, today is not a day to seek justice, today is a day the human race mourns. Tomorrow is the day we must stand together and be rid of this cancer that eats us from within.

No words can comfort or have the capacity to comfort the families affected by this heinous lynching. Sorrow and a heartfelt condolence is all we can offer to those innocent children, their families, loved ones and friends.

God grant the children and their teachers their rightful place in Heaven, Ameen.

“The operation is completed,” said Bilal Ahmad Faizi, the head of the state-run rescue organisation, speaking to reporters after leaving the school area.

No, the operation is NOT complete until everyone who murders, (whether it be individual or terrorist) is put to death. There should not be prison time or plea deals for murderers. I am so sick of this world caring about the murderer's rights, when they couldn't care less about the life of the people they kill or the person's family and friends who now must try to go on with their life.

It's time to give all mullahs the "litar parade" treatment. When they stop enticing and misleading the people, especially in FATA and remote areas, support for Taliban will die out. My heart goes out for the parents who lost their flesh n blood in this heinous crime. however for future avoidance of such acts the govt of Pakistan shld get help from outside to investigate this. The timing had been perfect, It is possible the PTI supremo is relentlessly trying to bring down the Sharif govt via political means. and TTP is also trying the same via violence. but enemy of enemy is a friend thus TTP n PTI shld not be doing things to hurt each each other. Or may be there is a 3rd dimension, that some one in power today got this hired guns to crush the sentiments of the people. before it use to be Kashmir.. any problem in India or in Pakistan the politician in both the country would escalate activity in Kashmir to divert the attention of the awam. History is full of such episode. Modi govt is clear and proactive to respond adequately on any Kashmir issue. Thus the Governing party in Pakistan had to find other avenue to divert the attention of the awam and thus we get a heart breaking/spliting event. I believe the TTP guys did not kill the kids happily or willingly, they must be under serious pressure from the top guns. Their kids might be under the gun if they refuse to execute the such desperate acts. This has to be the job of some greedy, power hungry personnel, he/she could be Pakistani or whoever.

If all Muslims of the world publicly and truly denounce such acts as against and not for God, these terrorists will be left with neither any moral authority or any safe haven, they will be destroyed in 1 month if all countries because now a limit has been crossed today that is beyond all politics, beyond religion, beyond all justification, beyond all blame game. A lasting solution can come not from external western countries but can only come if all Muslim countries- Saudi Arabia to Indonesia - declare that all Muslim terrorists act against Islam, and that they should either stop terrorism or face the wrath of Muslims themselves. Furthermore, this was a direct attack on Pakistan army and its children, all of the army should now respond as one voice to stop this menace, not under requests from other countries but for the ability to for ordinary people to live without daily fear, for all the children in the world, for the children of the terrorists themselves, and for the whole world.

"Rang laega shaheedon ka lahoo". (The blood of the martyr brings change/revolution). My mind holds the primary culprit "corruption". Bad guys are always there, and everywhere. It is the countering, checking, verifying, enforcing and promoting the good, which is missing. Are there no institutions for all these good actions? No, they are there, but are incapable. Reason is financial, moral, professional, mental corruption. Nepotism being an offspring of corruption. Small groups, small organizations, nations and countries have excelled on the basis of quality, not on the basis of quantity. Bring quality people, competent people by eliminating corruption if you want change. Enforce, and make independent, honest institutions like FPSC and Provincial ones.
