The Tonight Show

The Tonight Show is an American late-night talk show broadcast from the Rockefeller Center in New York City and airing on NBC since 1954. It is the world's longest-running talk show, and the longest running, regularly scheduled entertainment program in the United States. It is the third-longest-running show on NBC, after only the news-and-talk shows Today and Meet the Press.

Over the course of more than 60 years, The Tonight Show has undergone only minor title changes. It aired under the name Tonight for several of its early years, eventually settling on The Tonight Show after the seating of long-time host Johnny Carson in 1962. In later decades, network programmers, advertisers, and the show's announcers would refer to the show by including the name of the host; for example, it is currently announced as The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. In 1957, the show briefly tried a more news-style format. It has otherwise remained a talk show throughout its run.

The Tonight Show began broadcasting in 1954. It has had six official hosts, beginning with Steve Allen (1954–57), followed by Jack Paar (1957–62), Johnny Carson (1962–92), Jay Leno (1992–2009, 2010–14), Conan O'Brien (2009–10), and Jimmy Fallon (2014–present). It has had several recurring guest hosts, a practice especially common during the Paar and Carson eras.

Lip Sync Battle

Lip Sync Battle is an American musical reality competition television series which premiered on April 2, 2015, on Spike cable network. The show is based on an idea introduced to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon by John Krasinski, in which celebrities battle each other with lip sync performances. It was used (and is still used) as a recurring segment on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon before it was developed into a separate show.

The premiere episode was the highest-rated premiere in Spike's history. Lip Sync Battle has been a hit show for the network; it was renewed for a second season, which premiered on January 7, 2016. An hour-long holiday special aired on November 19, 2015. In January 2016, the series was renewed for a third season. The series' success has lead to the creation of various international adaptions.

Lip Sync Battle debuted on the American cable network Spike, on Thursday April 2, 2015. It is produced by John Krasinski and Stephen Merchant and hosted by rapper and actor LL Cool J. Model Chrissy Teigen serves as color commentator.

Jimmy Fallon

James Thomas "Jimmy" Fallon (born September 19, 1974) is an American comedian, television host, actor, singer, writer, and producer. He is known for his work in television as a cast member on Saturday Night Live and as the host of late-night talk show The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He was born in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and raised in Saugerties, New York. He grew up with an interest in comedy and music, moving to Los Angeles at 21 to pursue stand-up opportunities.

He was commissioned to join NBC's Saturday Night Live as a cast member in 1998, fulfilling a lifelong dream. Fallon remained on SNL for six years between 1998 and 2004, co-hosting the program's Weekend Update segment and becoming a celebrity in the process. He left the program for the film industry, starring in films such as Taxi (2004) and Fever Pitch (2005). Following his film career, Fallon returned to television as the host of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on NBC in 2009, where he became well known for his emphasis on music and games. He transitioned from that program to become the sixth host of the long-running The Tonight Show in 2014.

Lip sync

Lip sync, lip-sync, lip-synch (short for lip synchronization) is a technical term for matching lip movements with pre-recorded sung or spoken vocals that the listeners hear through speakers, either through PA system speakers in a "live" performance or television or cinema speakers in the case of a lip-synced TV show or film performance. The term can refer to any of a number of different techniques and processes, in the context of live performances and recordings.

In film production, lip synching is often part of the post-production phase. Dubbing foreign-language films and making animated characters appear to speak both require elaborate lip-synching. Many video games make extensive use of lip-synced sound files to create an immersive environment. In the case of the music industry, lip-synching can be controversial to fans attending live concert performances who expect to view a live performance.

Lip-synching, is often featured and considered a part of miming, and can be used to make it appear as though actors have substantial musical ability (e.g., The Partridge Family), to create particular vocal effect that can only be achieve in the recording studio, to improve performance during live dance numbers that also incorporate vocals, to misattribute vocals entirely (e.g. Milli Vanilli), or to cover for deficiencies during live performance. It is also commonly used in drag shows. Sometimes lip sync performances are forced on performers by television producers to shorten the guest appearances of celebrities, as it requires less time for rehearsals and hugely simplifies the process of sound mixing, or to eliminate the risk of vocal errors. Some artists, however, lip sync because they are not as confident singing live and may wish to avoid possible bad notes.
