Venomous Fish Tank
Lionfish, Toadfish and Scorpionfish, oh my. Shown in the my How to: Setup a Saltwater Fish Tank video, this is the update almost four months later. Although one extra step was added to the process (Purigen by Seachem) the results turned out very well. Follow every step in the How To video, give it some time, and you should have your own Saltwater Setup soon enough. It isn't as hard as most say - Link to the How To video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uw_noOZnlQo&feature;=c4-overview&list;=UUcAqG-kknodea7BWpi26r_w Hope you enjoyed the video! Venomous Fish Feeding
I know it has been awhile since the last video, however I am unfortunately out of my main equipment. The main PC that I would normally use to make videos is out of commission for the time being, so this video footage was shot with my own digital camera. The video camera requires a specific port, which only one PC in the house has it, and it isn't working...doing my best though! Newest addition is the Sea Goblin! Favorite venomous fish, and have been after this guy for a few years now. Everything but the Fu Manchu Lionfish is eating freeze dried krill, as it is clearly shown in the video to how stubborn he really is. Hope you enjoy! Sorry for the video shortages lately! Serving the Venomous Lionfish...Sashimi Style - Master Sushi Chef Hiro Terada
The Lionfish is a venomous fish that almost has not predators. It has taken over the beautiful coral reefs everywhere and now are on the to eat list. Divers don't want anything to do with them since their pectoral spiky fins are venomous. One unwanted encounter will give you symptoms of extreme pain, nausea, vomiting, fever, breathing difficulties, convulsions, dizziness, redness on the affected area, headache, numbness, paresthesia (pins and needles), heartburn, diarrhea, and sweating. Fatalities are common in very young children, the elderly, those with a weak immune system or those who are allergic to their venom. Their venom is rarely fatal to healthy humans, but some species have enough venom to produce extreme discomfort for over a period of several days. However, Pterois venom is a danger to allergic victims as they may experience anaphylaxis, a serious and often life threatening condition that requires immediate emergency medical treatment. Severe allergic reactions to Pterois venom include chest pain, severe breathing difficulties, a drop in blood pressure, swelling of the tongue, sweating, runny nose, or slurred speech. Such reactions can be fatal if not treated. (Wikipedia) Here, Master Sushi Chef Hiro Terada serves the Lionfish sashimi style, and the everyone who enjoyed it that day, including Chef Hiro has lived to tell how delicious eating that fish is served this way. This lionfish was caught the same day off the waters in Miami Beach and was so fresh, you couldn't but any fresher! This video was taken at the beautiful home of a captain of a large fishing boat in Miami. This was a private event and Chef Hiro was called for the duty of serving the many different freshly caught fish from the day's outing. NoVe is working with local fishermen in the area and is looking to serve this fish on a regular basis so please visit us and not miss an incredible opportunity to enjoy this beautiful looking and tasting fish.- published: 12 Nov 2013

World's most venomous fish move house at UnderWater World
UnderWater World on the Sunshine Coast will make its most delicate animal move today, as they relocate two of the world's most venomous fish. The animal care team will don protective gear today moving two Estuarine Stonefish and six lionfish to a new zone in the attraction as work begins for the second stage of its two year, $6.5 million refurbishment.UnderWater World Curator of Fishes Kate Willson said the animal team have to be extra cautious when moving the stonefish from their existing home at the Weird and Wonderful zone. "The team will be on alert when moving the Estuarine stonefish to ensure the safety of the animal and the team during the move. The stonefish is an ambush predator by nature and it's important to note that if it's aggravated its 13 venomous spines will strike up," she said. "The stonefish are very unique creatures, often camouflaging as a rock and are said to attack in 0.015 of a second if they feel threatened. The venom, however, is only activated by pressure and it's very common for people to step on its venomous spines in the wild by mistaking it as a rock while walking in shallow waters." The two stonefish will be moved alongside the six lionfish, another exceptional creature from the popular Weird and Wonderful zone, to its exciting new home in the Crawly Creatures zone. From 2014, the revitalised UnderWater World will become part of the world famous SEA LIFE brand, and incorporate SEA LIFE into its name.- published: 10 Sep 2013

Devil Scorpionfish venomous fish that walks on tiny legs
Devil Scorpionfish venomous fish that walks on tiny legs
There are at least two amazing things about this Devil Scorpionfish, Inimicus didactylus, which is a type of venomous scorpionfish of the family Scorpaenidae . This one was filmed in Indonesia, Sulawasi, in the Lembeh Straits at KBR, Kungkungan Bay Resort which is famous for its "muck diving" - the "muck" is the rich volcanic silt on the seabed that makes a fabulous home for many amazing creatures. It's also known as the "false stonefish" but although well camouflaged, with warty growths, bits of growing plant and silt debris, it is not as good at hiding as the stonefish and its mouth is wide and horizontal but the stonefish have a downward pointing part of their mouths. The head and spines, which have venom sacs below, are also bigger than in stonefish. So what are the amazing two things? Well firstly, even though not quite as good as stonefishes, it is great at camouflage and perfectly adapted to the seabed life but it can change strategy when chased by suddenly displaying bright yellow pectoral fins as a warning - normally they are hidden away. Secondly it has developed tiny leg-like "hooked" stilts that allow it to walk over, and to dig, the seabed. They are two on each side developed from the pectoral fins - the side ones - normally used by midwater fish to swim. But on the seabed that's not necessary and the fins have evolved into very useful stick-legs. This sort of thing is found in several kinds of bottom dwelling fish and it's likely that in fishes these sort of leg-like appendages evolved many times in the history of life. In fact in one kind of ancient creature (probably not related to scorpion fish, which are modern day fishes) it lead to them walking up the beach onto land and is the reason why you are reading this! The eyes looking on belong to a mantis shrimp featured in another clip.- published: 14 Nov 2013
