The Fractal Design Define R5 is the next evolution in the widely popular Define Series. Packed with intelligently designed enthusiast-oriented features delivering a silent case with powerful and expansive air and liquid cooling support, presented in a stunning Scandinavian inspired construction. The Define R5 case reaches the highest level of silent computing through strategically placed dense sound-absorbing material, ModuVent™ fan vent covers and finely tuned Dynamic Series fans. The Define R5 was designed with every option feasible, accommodating up to 8 hard drives and all modern graphics cards. Should you wish to expand Define R5 system with water cooling components or more fans the layout can easily be configured to meet your demand. The newly configured front door on the Define R5 can be mounted to open to the left or the right and is now equipped with bitumen for max sound absorption. Fractal's Define R5 also utilizes an innovative new Quick Release System on the left side panel provides secure mounting, yet grants quick and easy access to the system. Three-speed fan controller is strategically integrated behind the front door and supports up to 3 fans. The Define R5 has sturdy metal HDD trays provide excellent dampening features for the hard drives, while also providing 100% better airflow through the HDD cage due to an updated, more open design. Hydraulic bearing fan, equipped with a counter-pull magnet that reduces the axial tension on the bearing. Fan geometry in the Define R5 is optimized for a good balance be-tween static pressure and maximum airflow, resulting in good performance in all usage scenarios. Aerodynamically shaped stator struts, including even the wire strut. The design on the Define R5 also reduces noise and unwanted turbulence. With the angle of the struts, airflow won´t hit a vertical obstacle. With this the angel is similar to the rotation of the blades. These are designed similar to an “airplane wing” then a square. The struts in the Fractal design Define R5 use a wide angle to the trailing edge of the blades, resulting in lower noise level and a smoother noise profile. Strategically placed notches near the fan hub on the trailing edge of the blades, further reducing the humming noise. The HDD cage system can hold up to eight 3.5” or 2.5” drives and is more adaptable than ever, allowing the user to modify the case layout the way they prefer with more configurations of where to place the cages. The ODD cage can be removed with ease to move around HDD cages, improve airflow or to make more space for water cooling components.Fantastic water cooling support for a case of this size; incredibly it has room for up to a 420 mm radiator in the top and as large as a 360 mm radiator in the front. The Define R5 includes more fan slots, now with 9 positions in total - Included is 2 new Fractal Design Dynamic GP14 140mm fans which have been optimized to deliver maximum airflow while still maintaining a low noise level. Dedicated stealth mounts for 2 SSDs behind the mother-board plate feature innovative new brackets offering tool-free installation and removal. A larger CPU cut out for quick and easy access to the CPU. The motherboard plate there now features a small, pre-installed “alignment-pin”, which is like a motherboard standoff but it is used to help align the motherboard while screwing in the other screws. The fans in the Define R5 are designed for optimal silence, to facilitate high airflow while preventing noise from escaping. The side panels and the front door are equipped with high density noise-reducing material making the computer more silent. Equipped with newly designed tool-less Moduvent™ fan slot covers that prevent noise from escaping, while also providing users the option to open up and install more fans if desired.
