Oliver Peoples Eyewear launches an advertising campaign featuring Zooey Deschanel and Matt Costa for the 2009 season. The luxury eyewear house, which recently wrapped up a Cinema advertising campaign featuring Robert Evans, plans to combine still photographs with a short film to create a storyline consistent with the brand’s story telling marketing approach.
Although best known for her role in feature films such as Almost Famous, Failure to Launch and most recently The Happening, Deschanel has her hands in much more than just acting. She is a devoted band member of “She and Him” which released their first CD, Volume One in March of this year. Their fresh, indie-rock sound and youthful energy has already garnered them much attention within the music industry. In addition, her unique sense of style, both on and off the red carpet, has gained her the label of international fashion icon, loved by high end designers and hipsters alike.

Fresh (2009 film)
Fresh is a 2009 documentary film directed by Ana Sofia Joanes. The film focuses on sustainable agriculture, and depicts farmers, activists and entrepreneurs who are changing America's food system.
Synopsis
Joanes sets out to profile people who are breaking away from conventional models of agriculture and food production. In the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, Joel Salatin explains how he keeps his cows, chickens, pigs and natural grasses flourishing without using artificial fertilizers by closing the nutrient cycle. At Growing Power farm in Milwaukee, we meet Will Allen, who is turning three acres of industrial wasteland into nourishing farmland for his neighborhood. In Kansas City, David Ball breaks away from the standard concept of a supermarket by stocking his stores with produce from a cooperative of local farmers.
Reception
Critical response
Jeannette Catsoulis of The New York Times noted that the film "casts a sympathetic eye on farmers under contract to the giants of agribusiness," and is "less judgemental" and "more folksy in tone than the recent Food, Inc.." Mark Feeney of the Boston Globe wrote, "Fresh may be righteous (as well as right), but it’s not unrealistic," and noted that "not once in the course of the movie is the word 'locavore' used."

Film
A film, also called a movie, motion picture or photoplay, is a series of still images which, when shown on a screen, creates the illusion of moving images due to the phi phenomenon. This optical illusion causes the audience to perceive continuous motion between separate objects viewed rapidly in succession. Red Café
Jermaine Denny (born September 19, 1976), better known by his stage name Red Café, is an American rapper. He is signed to Fabolous' Street Family Records, Diddy's Bad Boy Records and is managed by Diddy's Ciroc Entertainment.
Early life
Red Café is a Brooklyn, NY rapper. His nickname "Red" was his father's nickname; in songs he refers to himself simply as "R". During an interview Café stated that he was born in Guyana, South America, but he and his family moved to Brooklyn, New York at the age of 6. He is of Afro-Guyanese descent.
Music career
After his release from jail he joined the group Da Franchise, which was signed by Violator Records but was not successful and disbanded. He was signed by Arista in 2003, by Capitol (Hoo-Bangin' Records) in 2005, by Universal (Konvict Muzik) in 2006, and then Interscope (Konvict Musik) in 2007, but released no albums. His song All Night Long was included on the 2005 Coach Carter soundtrack. As an underground rapper, his work is not internationally recognized, though he has been rapping on the circuit since the late 1990s.

Scanner performing Unto The Edges 'Unto The Edges' is a performance of sound and image. It is like the delicate movement of a watch spinning through space. Microscopic clicks, wood blocks and everyday sounds are painted over rumbling, dark canvases. Ultimately, by puling himself on the line Scanner manages to inject a form of music that is often distant and impersonal with warmth, human frailty and humour." The Guardian Newspaper'' The Light Surgeons performing LDN-REDUX 'LDN-REDUX' is a multichannel audio visual performance explores the landscape and architecture of London through a combination of live video remix and live electronic musical score. The piece paints an anthropomorphic portrait of London which encourages its audience to contemplate the city as a living organism. In parallel with this kaleidoscopic view of the every day life, the performance seeks to explore the city as a complex structure through its relationship with a more hidden landscape of digital information. The guys at W.Steinmann had a really fresh looking concept that would combine a bunch of organic and energetic illustration styles inside the silhouettes of a guy & a girl. We actually had 4 different illustrators working on this and right from the start we knew that it would all need to be working in an animation as well. So the animators were building animation elements at the same time as the designers were doing the elements and silhouettes for print.The live action dance moves by Sari Marin was awesome because she could do the exact move you see in the film time and time again and it was just a matter of working her hair with the wind machine. The Light Surgeons performing LDN-REDUX
'LDN-REDUX' is a multichannel audio visual performance explores the landscape and architecture of London through a combination of live video remix and live electronic musical score. The piece paints an anthropomorphic portrait of London which encourages its audience to contemplate the city as a living organism. In parallel with this kaleidoscopic view of the every day life, the performance seeks to explore the city as a complex structure through its relationship with a more hidden landscape of digital information. The resulting audio visual journey transports its audience through this sprawling metropolis to reveal its human activities as an abstract dance over a 24-hour cycle.
Scanone live A/V set
Director, Editor, Sound Designer and Label boss of Yellow Machines, Jude Greenaway aka Scanone is a London-based Audio Visual artist who has been producing, performing and releasing music for well over a decade. In that time he has managed to develop a sound that skirts around the lunatic fringes of a myriad of underground genres, from bass-heavy electronics to glitched-up cinematic IDM. For this performance he will be showcasing some fresh new material from his forthcoming DVD compilation and new unheard / seen cinematic audio visual works with music from himself and the Yellow Machines label.

Banquet - Live Cinema Performance mixes sound and visual material collected by the artists together with appropriated footage from advertising, to create a poetic investigation of food and its manifold cultural relevances. If the circumstances permit, the artists will even prepare some of the stuff live on stage for the audience to enjoy during and after the show!
Spatial (dj set)
Echoes of haunted dancehalls and distant raves in London town.. In late 2008 spatial subverted the UK bass scene by releasing a limited 10" on his newly christened infrasonics imprint. The expansion of dubstep's horizon with a technoid garage hybrid combined with the minimal aesthetic of the design and information reticence proved compelling in an age of categorisation and communication overload. The release scored an instant Boomkat single of the week and all but sold out inside two weeks.

The Butchers is a collective of freelancers, film maker, video artist, art director working with film and performing arts. Joe Catchpole is a Hackney based visual artist who creates bespoke video, motion graphics and display installations. His work has been seen at Music Festivals, in Art Galleries, Nightclubs, Corporate Events, Theatres and even on TV once or twice.

Paul Skawinski is an analogue visual designer and founder of Nano Projections. In 2009 Paul invented custom liquid projector "Illuminati 1.2" (patent pending), which creates “organic projections" up to 20 meters in diameter. The content inside petri dish is subject to chemical & physical reactions that occur during mixing process. Nano Visuals take you into the journey of your own fantasies and dreams; they will trigger your imagination & soul.

The piece paints an anthropomorphic portrait of London which encourages its audience to contemplate the city as a living organism. In parallel with this kaleidoscopic view of the every day life, the performance seeks to explore the city as a complex structure through its relationship with a more hidden landscape of digital information. The resulting audio visual journey transports its audience through this sprawling metropolis to reveal its human activities as an abstract dance over a 24-hour cycle.
Scanone live A/V set
Director, Editor, Sound Designer and Label boss of Yellow Machines, Jude Greenaway aka Scanone is a London-based Audio Visual artist who has been producing, performing and releasing music for well over a decade. In that time he has managed to develop a sound that skirts around the lunatic fringes of a myriad of underground genres, from bass-heavy electronics to glitched-up cinematic IDM. For this performance he will be showcasing some fresh new material from his forthcoming DVD compilation and new unheard / seen cinematic audio visual works with music from himself and the Yellow Machines label.

Banquet - Live Cinema Performance mixes sound and visual material collected by the artists together with appropriated footage from advertising, to create a poetic investigation of food and its manifold cultural relevances. Echoes of haunted dancehalls and distant raves in London town.. In late 2008 spatial subverted the UK bass scene by releasing a limited 10" on his newly christened infrasonics imprint. The expansion of dubstep's horizon with a technoid garage hybrid combined with the minimal aesthetic of the design and information reticence proved compelling in an age of categorisation and communication overload. The release scored an instant Boomkat single of the week and all but sold out inside two weeks.

The guys at W.Steinmann had a really fresh looking concept that would combine a bunch of organic and energetic illustration styles inside the silhouettes of a guy & a girl. We actually had 4 different illustrators working on this and right from the start we knew that it would all need to be working in an animation as well. So the animators were building animation elements at the same time as the designers were doing the elements and silhouettes for print.The live action dance moves by Sari Marin was awesome because she could do the exact move you see in the film time and time again and it was just a matter of working her hair with the wind machine.

Yes, it's about that time. Rain, sleet and snow have made way for the sun, long evenings and fresh sneakers. Early may, when Europe's hardwood champions have been crowned and the NBA playoffs shift into full gear, marks the inofficial start of the real basketball season: the streetball season! That's when reputations are made, nicknames are born and every ballplayer naturally gravitates towards that "thump", "thump" sound of his or her home court. Playground basketball is where it all started. Playground basketball is where talent is honed and friendships are made. It's where neighborhoods gather and where skills and sweat are a currency. That's especially true for the mecca of basketball, New York City. Nowhere else do streetball tournaments, players and games attract a quasi-religious following. Dollars, pride and bragging rights are on the line. Believe the hype!
The idea for a visual love letter to NY basketball was born when Red Cafe's unreleased track "Heart & Soul" established itself as an instant office-favorite at K1X headquarters in Munich (Germany) last spring. Niels Jager (K1X Go-To Guy): "The tune was on replay 24/7. And one day it hit us: let's build a statue for NYC streetball!" Red Cafe's ode to the city that never sleeps is a Pete Rock production that boasts all the makings of a hip hop classic. K1X, who has been active in the outfitting of several high profile NYC streetball tournaments for several years, was all the more surprised to find out that this beast of a tune was not yet a prime focus of Red Cafe's record label. Shake Down quickly agreed to let K1X shoot a poetic clip for the song, whose lyrics are a glowing personification of K1X's appreciation for street basketball: The Heart & Soul of New York City.
French streetball documentarist Kevin Couliau (Asphalt Chronicles), who spent the summer of 2009 in the five boroughs hunting down supreme blacktop action, was a natural choice to capture the raw essence of NYC and its rich streetball culture. As was the Canon 5D Mark II as Couliau's weapon of choice. Art director / director / producer Thibaut de Longeville (director of the acclaimed "Just For Kicks" sneaker culture documentary) and motion graphic designer Vincent Dumond of 360 Creative in Paris added their visual expertise to the project and took care of elegant motion graphics and bona fide post production.
The outcome of this work will celebrate its world premiere on May 1st 2010 on k1x.com. The clip features action from K1X affiliated tournaments in Harlem ("Together We Chill" and "Kingdome Classic") and the Lower East Side ("Lower Manhattan Classic") as well as a variety of other city courts and an impressive array of cameos by iconic players, opinion leading heads and a bunch of regular dudes. Bobbito Garcia, who got an early preview of the clip last winter had this to say: "It's so beautiful, man. It's snowing tonight but it made me look forward to the coming summer months again."

The guys at W.Steinmann had a really fresh looking concept that would combine a bunch of organic and energetic illustration styles inside the silhouettes of a guy & a girl. We actually had 4 different illustrators working on this and right from the start we knew that it would all need to be working in an animation as well. So the animators were building animation elements at the same time as the designers were doing the elements and silhouettes for print.The live action dance moves by Sari Marin was awesome because she could do the exact move you see in the film time and time again and it was just a matter of working her hair with the wind machine. The luxury eyewear house, which recently wrapped up a Cinema advertising campaign featuring Robert Evans, plans to combine still photographs with a short film to create a storyline consistent with the brand’s story telling marketing approach.
Although best known for her role in feature films such as Almost Famous, Failure to Launch and most recently The Happening, Deschanel has her hands in much more than just acting. She is a devoted band member of “She and Him” which released their first CD, Volume One in March of this year. Their fresh, indie-rock sound and youthful energy has already garnered them much attention within the music industry. In addition, her unique sense of style, both on and off the red carpet, has gained her the label of international fashion icon, loved by high end designers and hipsters alike.

Scanner performing Unto The Edges
'Unto The Edges' is a performance of sound and image. It is like the delicate movement of a watch spinning through space. Microscopic clicks, wood blocks and everyday sounds are painted over rumbling, dark canvases. Ultimately, by puling himself on the line Scanner manages to inject a form of music that is often distant and impersonal with warmth, human frailty and humour." The Guardian Newspaper''
The Light Surgeons performing LDN-REDUX
'LDN-REDUX' is a multichannel audio visual performance explores the landscape and architecture of London through a combination of live video remix and live electronic musical score. The piece paints an anthropomorphic portrait of London which encourages its audience to contemplate the city as a living organism. In parallel with this kaleidoscopic view of the every day life, the performance seeks to explore the city as a complex structure through its relationship with a more hidden landscape of digital information. The resulting audio visual journey transports its audience through this sprawling metropolis to reveal its human activities as an abstract dance over a 24-hour cycle.

Director, Editor, Sound Designer and Label boss of Yellow Machines, Jude Greenaway aka Scanone is a London-based Audio Visual artist who has been producing, performing and releasing music for well over a decade. In that time he has managed to develop a sound that skirts around the lunatic fringes of a myriad of underground genres, from bass-heavy electronics to glitched-up cinematic IDM. For this performance he will be showcasing some fresh new material from his forthcoming DVD compilation and new unheard / seen cinematic audio visual works with music from himself and the Yellow Machines label.

Banquet - Live Cinema Performance mixes sound and visual material collected by the artists together with appropriated footage from advertising, to create a poetic investigation of food and its manifold cultural relevances. If the circumstances permit, the artists will even prepare some of the stuff live on stage for the audience to enjoy during and after the show!
Spatial (dj set)
Echoes of haunted dancehalls and distant raves in London town.. In late 2008 spatial subverted the UK bass scene by releasing a limited 10" on his newly christened infrasonics imprint. The expansion of dubstep's horizon with a technoid garage hybrid combined with the minimal aesthetic of the design and information reticence proved compelling in an age of categorisation and communication overload. The release scored an instant Boomkat single of the week and all but sold out inside two weeks.
The Butchers (vj set)
The Butchers is a collective of freelancers, film maker, video artist, art director working with film and performing arts. Their live performance ranges from vj sets to a conceptual collaboration with specially produced audio visuals, focusing on the live interchange between music and a cinematic interpretation of light, movement, and a surrounded urban
environment.
Champetamine (dj set)
HFF resident Champetamine is a vinyl purist specializing in dub infused techno
mixed with slices of electronica and glitchy tribal rhythms- you never quite know what's in Champetamine's bag of tricks.
Joe Catchpole
Joe Catchpole is a Hackney based visual artist who creates bespoke video, motion graphics and display installations. His work has been seen at Music Festivals, in Art Galleries, Nightclubs, Corporate Events, Theatres and even on TV once or twice.
Nano Projections – Paulskiart
Paul Skawinski is an analogue visual designer and founder of Nano Projections. In 2009 Paul invented custom liquid projector "Illuminati 1.2" (patent pending), which creates “organic projections" up to 20 meters in diameter. The content inside petri dish is subject to chemical & physical reactions that occur during mixing process. Nano Visuals take you into the journey of your own fantasies and dreams; they will trigger your imagination & soul.

The guys at W.Steinmann had a really fresh looking concept that would combine a bunch of organic and energetic illustration styles inside the silhouettes of a guy & a girl. We actually had 4 different illustrators working on this and right from the start we knew that it would all need to be working in an animation as well. So the animators were building animation elements at the same time as the designers were doing the elements and silhouettes for print.The live action dance moves by Sari Marin was awesome because she could do the exact move you see in the film time and time again and it was just a matter of working her hair with the wind machine.

Yes, it's about that time. Rain, sleet and snow have made way for the sun, long evenings and fresh sneakers. Early may, when Europe's hardwood champions have been crowned and the NBA playoffs shift into full gear, marks the inofficial start of the real basketball season: the streetball season! That's when reputations are made, nicknames are born and every ballplayer naturally gravitates towards that "thump", "thump" sound of his or her home court. Playground basketball is where it all started. Playground basketball is where talent is honed and friendships are made. It's where neighborhoods gather and where skills and sweat are a currency. That's especially true for the mecca of basketball, New York City. Nowhere else do streetball tournaments, players and games attract a quasi-religious following. Dollars, pride and bragging rights are on the line. Believe the hype!
The idea for a visual love letter to NY basketball was born when Red Cafe's unreleased track "Heart & Soul" established itself as an instant office-favorite at K1X headquarters in Munich (Germany) last spring. Niels Jager (K1X Go-To Guy): "The tune was on replay 24/7. And one day it hit us: let's build a statue for NYC streetball!" Red Cafe's ode to the city that never sleeps is a Pete Rock production that boasts all the makings of a hip hop classic. K1X, who has been active in the outfitting of several high profile NYC streetball tournaments for several years, was all the more surprised to find out that this beast of a tune was not yet a prime focus of Red Cafe's record label. Shake Down quickly agreed to let K1X shoot a poetic clip for the song, whose lyrics are a glowing personification of K1X's appreciation for street basketball: The Heart & Soul of New York City.
French streetball documentarist Kevin Couliau (Asphalt Chronicles), who spent the summer of 2009 in the five boroughs hunting down supreme blacktop action, was a natural choice to capture the raw essence of NYC and its rich streetball culture. As was the Canon 5D Mark II as Couliau's weapon of choice. Art director / director / producer Thibaut de Longeville (director of the acclaimed "Just For Kicks" sneaker culture documentary) and motion graphic designer Vincent Dumond of 360 Creative in Paris added their visual expertise to the project and took care of elegant motion graphics and bona fide post production.
The outcome of this work will celebrate its world premiere on May 1st 2010 on k1x.com. The clip features action from K1X affiliated tournaments in Harlem ("Together We Chill" and "Kingdome Classic") and the Lower East Side ("Lower Manhattan Classic") as well as a variety of other city courts and an impressive array of cameos by iconic players, opinion leading heads and a bunch of regular dudes. Bobbito Garcia, who got an early preview of the clip last winter had this to say: "It's so beautiful, man. It's snowing tonight but it made me look forward to the coming summer months again."

Army was called on Saturday amid fresh violence in Darjeeling after death of a youth allegedly in a police firing, PTI quoted Army sources as saying, even as chief minister Mamata Banerjee appealed for talks.
