JOHN LENNON – ONE TO ONE CONCERT
May 12th, 1972 John and Yoko talk with and perform for Dick and Shirley McClaine. John defends his use of the word "nigger" for his song "woman is the nigger of the world", in addition to explaining his deportation and custody dilemma. Shirley McLaine talks out of ass for most of the show, watch her repeatedly praise John and Yoko off camera and be politely dismissed. While being interviewed, she states she has no belief in spirits and paranormal things--which she must have forgotten later in career when she started selling that nonsense. Shirley also demonstrates the lost art of the uncomfortably long hug with Yoko.

Madison Square Garden 1974 November 28 (Thanksgiving). John Lennon came on stage as special guest at the Elton John concert and they did three songs together. We all know the story ...... When John Lennon was recording his "Walls and Bridges" album in 1974, he invited Elton to help him out on a couple of tracks - "Whatever Gets You Thru the Night" and "Surprise, Surprise (Sweet Bird of Paradox)". This was around the same time they also worked together on Elton's releases "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" and "One Day at a Time". Lennon said of Elton, "I was amazed at his ability. A fine musician, great piano player. I was really pleasantly surprised at the way he could get in on such a loose track and add to it and keep up with the rhythm changes". As Elton and Lennon were enjoying themselves greatly during the recording session, Elton asked Lennon if he would do "Whatever Gets You Thru" with him on stage. Lennon, who no longer performed live, jokingly promised to do so when the song became a #1 hit single. In November that year, it did hit #1, Lennon's only solo single to do so. Elton called him up and reminded him of the promise, and Lennon appeared on stage for three numbers at Elton's concert at Madison Square Garden, New York City in 1974. Lennon was terrified, and nearly backed out several times. Finally, as Elton introduced him, he suddenly turned to Bernie Taupin back stage, and said, "I'm not going on unless you go with me". Bernie walked him out to the stage, gave him a light push, and said, "You're on your own". When he came on stage, the audience of 18,000 rose to their feet and applauded for several minutes before they were able to perform the three songs, the final one being the old Beatles' hit "I Saw Her Standing There", which was a song Paul McCartney (not John Lennon!) had sung. It was the first time Lennon sang the song! Elton has said many times that this whole event was one of the high points of his career.

John Lennon - "The Rolling Stone Interview" - December 8, 1970, Part 2 Part 2 of Rolling Stone Magazine founding editor and publisher, Jann S. Wenner's infamous interview with John Lennon and Yoko Ono. The interview was conducted at Allen Klein's office at 1700 Broadway in New York City on December 8, 1970. Wenner caught the couple at a time when the breakup of The Beatles was still fresh and acrimonious, Plastic Ono Band was first released, and John and Yoko's emotions had been laid bare through intense primal scream therapy. The lengthy interview was published in Wenner's Rolling Stone Magazine in two installments in early 1971 (January 21 and February 4, 1971 editions). Lennon later repudiated some of his more venomous statements in this interview and always decried the fact that Wenner published it in book form under the title "Lennon Remembers." Oddly, the book was republished, with Yoko's assistance, upon the 20th anniversary of Lennon's death at about the same time that the Anthology book was released. It included elements that had been excised in the first edition. Lennon Remembers and Anthology present two startling different characterizations and recollections of the Beatle years.

"The Day John Lennon Died" (documentary 2010) is a look at Lennon and his death through archival footage and interviews. Someone once said to me when politicians are assassinated it's one thing, but "when they start killing the artists," it's a bad sign. John Lennon's loss was certainly devastating, and I'm not sure it could have been avoided. Perhaps it might have been delayed, though. He was a man who loved New York, loved walking down the street. He didn't have bodyguards, and he signed autographs outside of the Dakota. Part of the problem is that the security people at the Dakota apparently let people "hang out" there -- a mistake -- and another is that Lennon didn't always enter or leave the Dakota by driving directly in or out of the garage. So as the completely obsessed Mark David Chapman stood across the street and watched the apartment building, no one noticed and no one told him to leave. He eventually moved closer. And shot John Lennon. A cautionary tale in one way, a heartbreaking tale in another. nebojsa savic

It was released in 1970, after Lennon had issued three experimental albums with Yoko Ono and Live Peace in Toronto 1969, a live performance in Toronto credited to the Plastic Ono Band. The album was recorded simultaneously with Ono's debut avant garde solo album, Yoko Ono/Plastic Ono Band, at Ascot Sound Studios and Abbey Road Studios using the same musicians and production team, and featured nearly identical cover artwork. John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band is generally considered one of Lennon's finest solo albums, documenting with honesty and artistic integrity his emotional and mental state at that point in his career. In 1987, Rolling Stone magazine ranked it fourth on "The 100 Best Albums of the Last Twenty Years." In 2012, the magazine ranked it number 23 on its list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

in His Life - The John Lennon Story ... Complete movie ... 2000 In His Life: The John Lennon Story Directed by David Carson Written by Michael O'Hara Starring Philip McQuillen, Blair Brown Release dates 3 December 2000 Running time 87 mins Country United Kingdom Language English Beginning in Liverpool in the 1950s, this movie concentrates on the early life of John Lennon (Philip McQuillen) as he struggles to become a successful musician in the embryonic stages of British rock and roll. Lennon goes on to form a number of bands, widening his local audience as he develops, before later joining with Stuart Sutcliffe (Lee Williams), George Harrison (Mark Rice-Oxley), Pete Best (Scot Williams), and Paul McCartney (Daniel McGowan) to form The Beatles. The band attract the attention of music promoter Brian Epstein (Jamie Glover) who engineers their success and fame. However, Sutcliffe and Best are both dropped from the band, to be replaced by Ringo Starr (Kristian Ealey). The film focuses on eight years of Lennon's youth, from age 16 to 23, from his teenage years living with his aunt Mimi Smith, to the early successes of the Beatles. It deals with Lennon's abandonment by his father, the double loss of his mother (first to another family and then to an accident), his introduction to McCartney at St. Peter's Church Hall, his courting and marriage to his first wife, Cynthia (Gillian Kearney), the loss of his best friend Sutcliffe, the birth of his son Julian, and the early popularity of the Beatles in Germany. It includes authentic Liverpudlian landmarks such as the actual house where Lennon grew up, St Peter's Church Hall (where he first met McCartney), the Liverpool Art College and Quarry Bank High School where Lennon was a student, as well as numerous musical venues where the young Beatles performed. Also shown are recreated scenes from the Quarrymen, the German era, and the Cavern Club performances. The film ends with the Beatles' first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. Cast[edit] Philip McQuillan as John Lennon Blair Brown as Lennon's aunt, Mimi Smith Christine Kavanagh as Julia Lennon (Lennon's mother) Gillian Kearney as Cynthia (Lennon's first wife) Daniel McGowan as Paul McCartney Mark Rice-Oxley as George Harrison Lee Williams as Stuart Sutcliffe Jamie Glover as Brian Epstein (the Beatles' Manager) Kristian Ealey as Ringo Starr Scot Williams as Pete Best (the original drummer of the Beatles) Palina Jonsdottir as Astrid Kirchherr (Stuart Sutcliffe's German girlfriend) Michael Ryan as Rory Quinn Alex Cox as Bruno Koschmider Anthony Borrows as young John Lennon Paul Usher as Freddie Lennon Awards and nominations[edit] The film was nominated for an award in 2001 for "Best Edited Motion Picture for Commercial Television", by the American Cinema Editors.

The Guardian 2014-12-15John Winston Ono Lennon, MBE (9 October 1940 – 8 December 1980) was an English musician and singer-songwriter who rose to worldwide fame as one of the founder members of The Beatles, one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed acts in the history of popular music. Together with Paul McCartney, he formed one of the most celebrated songwriting partnerships of the 20th century.
Born and raised in Liverpool, Lennon became involved as a teenager in the skiffle craze; his first band, The Quarrymen, evolved into The Beatles in 1960. As the group disintegrated towards the end of the decade, Lennon embarked on a solo career that produced the critically acclaimed albums John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band and Imagine, and iconic songs such as "Give Peace a Chance" and "Imagine". After his marriage to Yoko Ono in 1969, he changed his name to John Ono Lennon. Lennon disengaged himself from the music business in 1975 to devote time to raising his infant son Sean, but re-emerged with Ono in 1980 with the new album Double Fantasy. He was murdered three weeks after its release.

As it enters through your breathing, close your eyes and feel them turn it grey
Oh, heart of gold, spring time life and laughter borne, now you wander there alone
Down that way where life is a bad place, life is a sad place, always
Such a dark cold way and it enters through your breathing everyday
What a dark old way to stay the same
As it enters through your breathing, close your eyes and feel them turn it grey
Oh, heart of stone, nights were there for you alone, now the greymen linger long
And nights are cold and hard and days are slipping away paced, moving on always
Such a dark cold way and it enters through your breathing everyday
What a dark old way to stay the same
And it enters through your breathing everyday
Such a dark old way, it stays the same
As it enters through your breathing,
Don't worry now, it's all erased
Burn to grey and white
Your fireproof heart was never wasted
And steady all the while, so you say
Don't worry now, it's all come back
Colorless as night
You'll be there, you'll see her face
And hear her all the while
By the time you find your way
You've gotta run right back to the start
Don't think you're lost
You're gonna run right back to the start
And when you finally think it's gone
You're gonna run right back to her arms
Don't worry now, it's all erased
Burn to grey and white
Tell yourself you don't still taste her
Or hear her through the night
By the time you find your way
You've gotta run right back to the start
Don't think you're lost
You're gonna run right back to the start
And when you finally think it's gone
You're gonna run right back to her arms
Run, run fast enough to lose yourself
Our legs were straight but only move in circles
By the time you find your way
You've gotta run right back to the start
Don't think you're lost
You're gonna run right back to the start
And when you finally think it's gone
You're gonna run right back to the start
You're gonna run right back to the start
You're gonna run right back to the start
