Plot
This Columbia "World of Sports" short (Columbia production number 3809) features tennis champion Bobby Riggs, when he was in his prime, and three decades before he beat Margaret Court in a "Battle of the Sexes" tennis match, and then mouthed off so much about it that Billie Jean King, then in her prime, took him on and wiped up the court with him and put his old bones into retirement. There are those that think she could have beaten him in 1942 also, when she was still a baby. Riggs got more milage and attention out of playing against two women in the 70's then he did out of the many titles he won when he was younger.

Bobby Riggs: I'm like a tiger gettin' ready to spring!
Robert Larimore "Bobby" Riggs (February 25, 1918 – October 25, 1995) was a 1930s–40s tennis player who was the World No. 1 or the co-World No. 1 player for three years, first as an amateur in 1941, then as a professional in 1946 and 1947. He played his first professional tennis match on December 26, 1941.
After being mostly forgotten for many years, he gained far more fame in 1973 at the age of 55 by challenge matches against two of the top female players in the world. "The Battle of the Sexes" match against Billie Jean King was one of the most famous tennis events of all time, in which he lost the $100,000 winner take all prize.
Riggs was born in Los Angeles, the son of a minister and one of six siblings. He was an excellent table tennis player as a boy and when he began playing tennis at age 11, he was quickly befriended and then coached by Esther Bartosh, who was the third-ranking woman player in Los Angeles. Depending entirely on speed and ball control, he soon began to win boys (through 15 years old) and then juniors (through 18 years old) tournaments. Although it is sometimes said that Riggs was one of the great tennis players nurtured at the Los Angeles Tennis Club (LATC) by Perry T. Jones and the Southern California Tennis Association. Riggs writes in his autobiography that for many years Jones considered Riggs to be too small and not powerful enough to be a top-flight player. (Kramer, however, said in his autobiography that Jones turned against Riggs "for being a kid hustler".) After initially helping Riggs, Jones then refused to sponsor him at the important Eastern tournaments. With the help of Bartosh and others, Riggs played in various National Tournaments and by the time he was 16 was the fifth-ranked junior player in the United States. The next year, he won his first National Championship, winning the National Juniors by beating Joe Hunt in the finals. That same year, 1935, he met Hunt in 17 final-round matches and won all 17 of them.
Billie Jean King (née Moffitt; born November 22, 1943) is a former professional tennis player from the United States. She won 12 Grand Slam singles titles, 16 Grand Slam women's doubles titles, and 11 Grand Slam mixed doubles titles. King has been an advocate against sexism in sports and society. She won "The Battle of the Sexes" in 1973, in which she defeated Bobby Riggs, a former Wimbledon men's singles champion, for $100,000, winner take all. She completed a career tour all surfaces win-loss performance of 81.76% (696-165). Her win-loss performance in all Grand Slam singles tournaments was 82.00% (190-39), at the French Open 77.77% (21-6), at Wimbledon 86.36% (95-15), at the US Open 80.55% (58–14), and at the Australian Open 80.00% (16-4).
King is the founder of the Women's Tennis Association, the Women's Sports Foundation, and owner of World Team Tennis, which was founded by her former husband, Larry King, Dennis Murphy, Frank Barman, and Jordan Kaiser.
Billie Jean Moffit was born in Long Beach, California, into a conservative Methodist family, the daughter of a fireman father and housewife mother. Her younger brother Randy Moffitt grew up to become a professional baseball player, pitching for 12 years in the major leagues for the San Francisco Giants, Houston Astros, and Toronto Blue Jays.
Jean King (born December 6, 1925) was the sixth Lieutenant Governor of Hawaii from 1978 to 1982 in the administration of Governor George Ariyoshi.
Before becoming Lieutenant Governor King had served in the Hawaii House of Representatives from 1972 to 1974 and the Hawaii Senate from 1974 to 1978. In 1982 King was defeated in the Democratic primary election for Governor and retired from politics.
John William "Johnny" Carson (October 23, 1925 – January 23, 2005) was an American television host and comedian, known for thirty years as host of The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson (1962–1992). Carson received six Emmy Awards, the Governor Award, and a 1985 Peabody Award. He was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame in 1987. Johnny Carson was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1992 and received a Kennedy Center Honor in 1993.
Although his show was already successful by the end of the 1960s, during the 1970s Carson became an American icon and remained so until his retirement in 1992. He adopted a casual, conversational approach with extensive interaction with guests, an approach pioneered by Arthur Godfrey and previous Tonight Show hosts Steve Allen and Jack Paar. Late night hosts David Letterman, Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien, Craig Ferguson, and Jimmy Fallon have all cited Carson's influence on their late-night talk shows, which resemble his in format and tone.
Carson was born in Corning, Iowa, in the year 1925, to Homer Lloyd "Kit" Carson, a power company manager, and Ruth Hook Carson, who was of Irish descent. He grew up in the nearby towns of Avoca, Clarinda, and Red Oak in southwest Iowa before moving to Norfolk, Nebraska, at the age of eight. At the age of twelve, Carson found a book on magic at a friend's house and immediately purchased a mail-order magician's kit. He debuted as "The Great Carsoni" at fourteen and was paid $3; many other performances at local picnics and country fairs followed.
John William "Will" Ferrell (/ˈfɛrəl/; born July 16, 1967) is an American comedian, impressionist, actor, and writer. Ferrell first established himself in the mid 1990s as a cast member on the NBC sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live, and has subsequently starred in the comedy films Old School, Elf, Anchorman, Talladega Nights, Stranger than Fiction, Blades of Glory, Semi-Pro, and The Other Guys. He is considered a member of the "Frat Pack", a generation of leading Hollywood comic actors who emerged in the late 1990s and the 2000s, including Jack Black, Ben Stiller, Steve Carell, Vince Vaughn, and brothers Owen and Luke Wilson.
Ferrell was born in Irvine, California, the son of Betty Kay (née Overman), a teacher who taught at Old Mill School elementary school and Santa Ana College, and Roy Lee Ferrell, Jr., a musician with The Righteous Brothers. His parents were both natives of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, and moved to California in 1964; Ferrell has Irish ancestry. Ferrell has a younger brother, Patrick. When he was 8, his parents divorced. Ferrell said of the divorce, "I was the type of kid who would say, 'Hey Look at the bright side! We'll have two Christmases.'" The divorce was amicable and both parents were committed to their children. The biggest problem was Lee's line of work. As a person in show business, his paychecks were never steady and he was gone from home months at a time. Growing up in the environment made Ferrell not want to go into show business, but get a steady job.
I am just a regular guy
But I am as patriotic as I can be
I live in the home of the brave
And I live in the land of the free
Even through the darkest times
When others might be afraid
I still stand up tall
My head held high
Because I am American Made
I'm a proud American
And I stand for what is right
Men like Thomas Jefferson
They Stood and they made a fight
Even through the darkest times
When others might be afraid
I still stand up tall
Hold my head high
Because I am American Made
Even through the darkest times
When others might be afraid
We still stand tall
We hold our head high
Well I work all day and I work all night
Cause that's just what I do
I'm a slave to the I.R.S.
And you can be one too
Get up early
Work all day
Then I stay up late
I never thought I'd find myself
Working for the state
Don't take my money
Don't take my time No No
Cause we're not gonna to take it no more
No More
Well I'm certified and I'm hypnotize
And I'm living the American dream
My money's tight but that's alright
Cause I'm on the winning team
It's understood that the dollar's good
And the Fed has got my back
But then I found out the Fed was fake
And that we've all been jacked
Don't take my money
Don't take my time No No
Cause we're not gonna to take it no more
No More
So now I know what has taken place
An economic war against the human race
They take your money and they take mine too
Enslavement of a nation
It comes down to me and you
No law was ever written
No law was put in place
That the I.R.S. could tax us on a man's working wage
Don't you worry
The time is close
The I.R.S. is finished when the people finally vote
Don't take my money
Don't take my time No No
Cause we're not gonna to take it no more
No More
Not gonna to take it no more
No More
Not gonna to take it no more
No More
Not gonna to take it no more
No More
Don't take my money
Don't take my time No No
Cause we're not gonna to take it no more
No More
No More
Not gonna to take it no more
