A trophy is a reward for a specific achievement, and serves as recognition or evidence of merit. Trophies are most often awarded for sporting events, from youth sports to professional level athletics. In many sports medals are often given out either instead of or along with trophies.
Originally the word trophy, derived from the Greek tropaion, referred to arms, standards, other property, or human captives and body parts (e.g. headhunting) captured in battle. These war trophies commemorated the military victories of a state, army or individual combatant. In modern warfare trophy taking is discouraged, but this sense of the word is reflected in hunting trophies and human trophy collecting by serial killers.
Trophies have marked victories since ancient times. The word trophy coined in English in 1550, was derived from the French trophée in 1513, "a prize of war", from Old French trophee, from Latin trophaeum, monument to victory, variant of tropaeum, which in turn is the latinisation of the Greek τρόπαιον (tropaion), the neuter of τροπαῖος (tropaios), "of defeat" or "for defeat", but generally "of a turning" or "of a change", from τροπή (tropē), "a turn, a change" and that from the verb τρέπω (trepo), "to turn, to alter".

Trophy wife is an expression used to refer to a wife, usually young and attractive, who is regarded as a status symbol for the husband, who is often older and wealthy.
The use of the term also usually reflects negatively on the character or personality of the husband, and has a connotation of narcissism and desire to impress others, and that the husband would not be able to attract the sexual interest of the attractive woman but for his wealth or position.
The term's etymological origins are disputed. One claim is that trophy wife originally appeared in a 1950 issue of The Economist magazine[citation needed], referring to the historical practice of warriors capturing the most beautiful women during battle to bring home as wives.William Safire claimed that the term trophy wife was coined by Julie Connelly, a senior editor of Fortune magazine, in a cover story in the issue of Aug. 28, 1989 and immediately entered common usage.[citation needed] Many sources claim the term was coined earlier (for example, the Online Etymology Dictionary cites 1984) but easy online access to William Safire's article about the term has led many (such as Oxford English Dictionary) to believe that August 28, 1989 was its first use.

Plot
A group of teen-agers vacationing in the tropics take a boat out to a seemingly deserted island. They soon find, however, that the island is inhabited by a wealthy recluse and his staff. While their host is initially hospitable, he quickly reveals his true purpose: to hunt down and kill each of his visitors, as he has done with everyone unlucky enough to set foot on his island.

Dean Gerrard: I can't go on forever pretending to be a useless drunk.
Johnny Randall: You mean you hunted those people down? Then killed them, and did *that* to them?::Dr. Albert Balleau: Exactly. I hunted them. And shall I tell you why? I'd been a scholar all my life. I was curator of a large museum. And the war began. I who had never killed anything in my life assigned to duty as a sniper - a sharpshooter - because of my steady hand and keen eyesight. [chuckles] It amuses me now that I found it distasteful at first. And as time went by I adjusted my new activity. For what had been an unpleasant duty became a pleasure then it developed into a passion and then into a lust. A lust for blood! A lust that has grown with the years! And one that I spend my entire life trying to satisfy.
Johnny Randall: Listen, Mister Balleau, fun's fun. But if you think we're gonna be the clay pigeons in your shooting gallery - you're just a little far out!
Dr. Albert Balleau: Well, then, I'm flattered that someone should want to further look at my little souvenirs. No one else has ever come back a second time - alive.
Captain Tony: So long, suckers!
I suppose you did it out of love
I feel that pressure from above
I didn't perform quite up to par
I only gained another scar
I'm not your trophy
I will not shine for you
sorry for the disappointment
I did the best I could
but here I've let the family down again
I'm your failure your mistake
because I failed to break the tape
I'm your shameful progeny
your begotten tragedy
you ought to know

The trophy that I made for us
In fur and gold
Got into the wrong pair of hands
In truth was sold
The?? was so much less
Than it was worth
And every man that touched it
Found a heaven on earth
Heaven is a feeling I get in your arms
Heaven is a feeling I get in your arms
Heaven is a feeling I get in your arms
Heaven is a feeling I get in your arms
The queens and the court jesters
Clapped, adored
Their hearts swelled too
Overdrive and mercy soared
Mercy this and mercy that
Let justice prevail
But I just want my trophy back
It's not for sale
Heaven is a feeling I get in your arms
Heaven is a feeling I get in your arms
Heaven is a feeling I get in your arms
Heaven is a feeling I get in your arms
Creatures of mercy
Shoot shoot
Shoot them down
And set me free
Creatures of mercy
Shoot shoot
Shoot them down
And set me free
When I got my trophy back
It took some time
To polish it, to gold from black
When I put it back inside
And locked the door
A trophy of mercy
Is a trophy no more
Heaven is a feeling I get in your arms
Heaven is a feeling I get in your arms
Heaven is a feeling I get in your arms
Heaven is a feeling I get in your arms
Creatures of mercy
Shoot shoot
Shoot them down
And set me free
Creatures of mercy
Shoot shoot
Shoot them down
(verse 1)
I see the face your making
I hear the words you say
You've got to have it your way
hey hey
so one by one you favor
you put them on display
your trophies left to decay
hey, hey, hey, hey
(verse 2)
so where's the love your preaching
so where'es the charity
it's all a mystery to me
it's time to love your neighbor
and love your enemy
lay down your life for the sheep
(chorus)
I pray you'll find
some peace of mind
look in the mirror
reflections never lie
hi, i live on the corner, i crawl on my belly i eat flies
and honey. my teeth are all jagged my sweater is itchy. i
jump up and down to get your attention. ive had too much
sugar, no i dont do it right i cant seem to get it im
shaking with laughter. i follow you around to see you
home safely. i got scabs on my knees i pick them and eat
them i dream and i love it. ive had too much sugar, i
wait on your staircase to see you home safely. hi my skin
is to cheap, i walk with a limp im brimming with stories.
i follow my dreams. my toenails are sharp my skin is too
pale. i sing you too sleep, my gums are all bloody come
give me a kiss. i follow you around to see you home
safely, ive had too much sugar, but ill see you home
safely

Call her a trophy, say what you will
Tell me it's nothing, an image to fill,
her face next to mine like a cheap glass of wine
that looks good but just isn't all there
"I say you don't know when she smiles
When she laughs at my jokes, I'm alive
I can fly, I'm a better man"
So take all your talking keep to yourselves
I am in love here, forget everything else
Her hand in mine and those cute little lines
on her face when she wrinkles to laugh
"I say you don't know when she smiles
When she laughs at my jokes, I'm alive
I can fly, I'm a better man"

Anyone? Interested in collecting my parts from this dance floor?
Anyone? Interested in connecting my lungs to a breath of fresh air?
This is where I learn everything they failed to teach
Wrap up your lessons and bury your books
Witness life in merciless proportions
Everything they failed to teach
Five members means four commitments
I've been a pupil for too long
In the academy of life I gave my best to stand strong
This is the testing, boiling and uprising
This is the trial they put me through
Five members means four commitments
Can anyone honestly pretend to fail one single person?
When he constantly has to guarantee satisfaction for four?
Anyone? Anyone interested in switching chairs?
We gave our inner most
We gave our inner most to stand strong
We gave our inner most
We gave our inner most and we stood strong
Welcome to annihilation, welcome to the fold
Welcome disintegration, welcome to passion
Prepare for a heart attack
Beware of the side effects
Four implied promises
This is where I learn everything they failed to teach
I've never been closer to a heart attack
But I wouldn't trade this for anything in the world
