Khartoum (Arabic: الخرطوم al Ḫarṭūm) is the capital and second largest city of Sudan and of Khartoum State. It is located at the confluence of the White Nile flowing north from Lake Victoria and the Blue Nile flowing west from Ethiopia. The location where the two Niles meet is known as "al-Mogran", meaning the Confluence. The main Nile continues to flow north towards Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea.
Divided by the Niles, Khartoum is a tripartite metropolis with an estimated overall population of over five million people consisting of Khartoum proper[clarification needed], and linked by bridges to Khartoum North called (al-Khartūm Bahrī) and Omdurman (Umm Durmān) to the west.
The origin of the word is uncertain. One tradition is that khartoum derives from Arabic kartūm الخرطوم meaning 'end of an elephant’s trunk', probably referring to the narrow strip of land extending between the Blue and White Niles. Captain J. A. Grant, who reached Khartoum in 1863 with Captain Speke’s expedition, thought that the derivation was most probably from the Arabic qurtum, safflower (Carthamus tinctorius), which was cultivated extensively in Egypt for its oil, used in burning.[citation needed]
Frank Cordell (1 June 1918 – 6 July 1980) was a British music composer, arranger and conductor, who was actively involved with the Institute of Contemporary Arts. He also wrote music under the name Frank Meilleur or Meillear (Meillear being his mother’s maiden name).
He was born Frank Cordell in Kingston-upon-Thames. His father was a doctor who served with the Royal Army Medical Corps in the First World War. Frank had two sisters, and a brother who was a professional musician. Frank's brother, Sid Cordell, wrote music for some of the Hammer Horror productions filmed at Pinewood Studios. As a young teenager Frank worked briefly for Homfray & Company in the cotton mills in Halifax and the Midlands for a family relative, before returning to London. By age 14, he was a competent pianist. Cordell entered a city-wide London music contest and won a Melody Maker poll at the age of 17 for the most promising jazz pianist of 1935. This enabled him to secure a job as a sound man in one of the prestigious London Warner Bros. film studios.
Pharrell Williams (born April 5, 1973), commonly known simply as Pharrell, is an American rapper, singer, record producer, composer, and fashion designer. Williams and Chad Hugo make up the record production duo The Neptunes, producing hip hop and R&B music. He is also the lead vocalist and drummer of hip-hop band N.E.R.D, which he formed with Hugo and childhood friend Shay Haley. He released his first single "Frontin'" in 2003 and followed up with his first album In My Mind in 2006.
As part of The Neptunes, Williams has produced numerous hit singles for various musicians. The two have earned three Grammy Awards amongst ten nominations. He is also the co-founder of the clothing brands Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream Clothing. He is a member of the supergroup V.A. Playaz with Fam-Lay, Clipse, Skillz, Missy Elliott, and Timbaland & Magoo.
Pharrell Williams was born on April 5, 1973, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, the eldest of three sons of Carolyn, a teacher, and Pharaoh Williams, a handyman. He met Chad Hugo in a seventh-grade summer band camp where Williams played the keyboards and drums and Hugo played tenor saxophone. They were also both members of a marching band; Williams played the snare drum while Chad was student conductor. With Hugo, Williams attended Princess Anne High School where they played in the school band; there he got the name Skateboard P.
John Garang de Mabior (June 23, 1945 – July 30, 2005) was a Sudanese politician and leader. From 1983 to 2005, he led the Sudan People's Liberation Army during the Second Sudanese Civil War, and following a peace agreement he briefly served as First Vice President of Sudan from January 2005 until he died in a July 2005 helicopter crash.
A member of the Dinka ethnic group, Garang was born into a poor family in Buk village in the upper Nile region of Sudan. An orphan by the age of ten, he had his fees for school paid by a relative, going to schools in Wau and then Rumbek. In 1962 he joined the first Sudanese civil war, but because he was so young, the leaders encouraged him and others his age to seek an education. Because of the ongoing fighting, Garang was forced to attend his secondary education in Tanzania. After winning a scholarship, he went on to earn a B.A.[clarification needed] in economics in 1969 from Grinnell College in Iowa, USA. He was known there for his bookishness. He was offered another scholarship to pursue graduate studies at the University of California, Berkeley, but chose to return to Tanzania and study East African agricultural economics as a Thomas J. Watson Fellow at the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM). At UDSM, he was a member of the University Students' African Revolutionary Front. However, Garang soon decided to return to Sudan and join the rebels.[citation needed] There is much erroneous reporting that Garang met and befriended Yoweri Museveni, future president of Uganda, at this time; while both Garang and Museveni were students at UDSM in the 1960s, they did not attend at the same time.
Teddy Afro (in Amharic: ቴዲ አፍሮ; real name: Tewodros Kassahun, in Amharic: ቴዎድሮስ ካሳሁን, B. 14 July 1976) is a popular Ethiopian singer and critic of the ruling Ethiopian Peoples' Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF). His opposition to the government has led to legal troubles.
In 2001, Teddy Afro released his second album, Abugida, named after the Abugida syllabary of the Ge'ez language. Several tracks quickly caught the ear of many listeners in Ethiopia - "Halieselassie", a tribute to the late Emperor of Ethiopia Haile Selassie I; "Haile, Haile", a single in honor of the Olympic long distance champion Haile Gebrselassie; and "Mona Lisa", a song about the measure of human beauty.
His third album, Yasteseryal, was released in 2005. The release of this album coincided with elevated political tension in Ethiopia surrounding the Ethiopian general election, 2005. His politically- and socially-inspired songs acted as a call for unity and peace and made the 17 years of TPLF-led government in power concerned.[citation needed] Consequently the government banned four songs including "Yasteseryal" from playing on radios and TV (http://www.ethiopianreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10689&p=53228). The most popular song of the album "Yasetseryal" claims that there is no real change in Ethiopia but a new government and the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) fight against the Derg was nothing but an infamous military junta. The album sold more than a million copies within a few months after its release, becoming the biggest selling Ethiopian music album to date.
When your baby leaves you all alone
And nobody call you on the phone
Doncha feel like crying
Doncha feel like crying like crying like crying
C'mon baby, cry to me
When you're all alone in your lonely room
And there's nothing but the smell of her perfume
Doncha feel like crying
Doncha feel like crying like crying like crying
C'mon baby, (c'mon) cry to me
Nothing could be sadder than a glass of wine alone
Loneliness loneliness, it just a waste of your time
But you don't ever you don't ever have to walk alone
You see, so c'mon take my hand
C'mon walk with me
When you're waiting for a voice to come
In the night there is no one
Doncha feel like crying
Doncha feel like crying like crying like crying
C'mon baby, cry to me
C'mon baby, that's right cry to me
Yes, I want you to come on baby
C'mon c'mon cry to me
I want you to c'mon baby
C'mon c'mon and cry to me
Yeah c'mon baby c'mon I want you to cry cry cry to me
Yeah I want you to cry cry cry cry cry cry cry
Days break, nights fall
And I wait alone
I sleep behind a wall
My silent call unknown
Create me
Create me
Take me in your hands and shape me
Wake me from this sleep to then begin again
To live again
Create me
Create me
Create me
Days break, nights fall
Each one the same
I wait behind a wall
To hear you call my name
Create me
Create me
Breathe your life into my soul
And know the greatest story told
Is you and I and how we tried
And how we won and what You've done
Creating me
How many seasons have we endured?
How many fields yet to plow?
Know that my destiny is tied to yours
Just need to trust me; our destiny is now
Create me
Lift me up and give a meaning
To a dream that I've been dreaming, endlessly
It comforts me to see you there
There you are; we've come so far
How many seasons have we endured?
How many fields yet to plow?
Know that my destiny is tied to yours
Just need to trust me; our destiny is now
Create me
Create me
Create me
Days break, nights fall

No andare via
Guardami
Non vorrai di pi
Non lasciar che cos sia
Con un si vedrai
Quello che vorrai
Guardami
Sono solo io
Quella che
Ti porter via
La mia anima con te
Non saprai di pi
Mai pi vedrai
La scena che faro
E non fingero
Di saper di pi
Tu sai che io
È l che finir
Mentre guardo te
Di dir cosa
Guardami
Gi non parlo pi
Sento ormai
Che t'arrenderai
Piano piano tra di noi
È la musica che ti fa sognar
Guardami
Non ne posso pi
Questa si la vita mia
E nell'ombra
Troverai
Tutto quel che vuoi
Una dolce melodia
Che qualcuno a vr
Cantato gi
Guardami
Una fiamma ormai
Come me non ci saranno mai
Sono ancora qui tra voi
Sento che adesso
Io rimarr qui
Solo adesso
Sento che con te
Sono io

(Ooh-ooh, hoo-hoo-hoo! Ooh-ooh hoo-hoo!)
Cry to me, now;
You gonna cry to me, yeah!
You're gonna walk back through the heartaches;
You're gonna walk back through the pain;
(Shed those) Shed those lonely teardrops:
The reaction of your cheating game.
You got to cry to me, now!
You're gonna cry - cry - cry to me, yeah! Yeah!
Lord knows how I get from the heartaches;
Lord that leadeth me, yeah!
And now I'm by the still water.
You've got to cry to me, yea-ea-eah!
You gonna cry to me now;
You've got to cry - cry - cry to me, yeah!
You're gonna spend those lonely hours.
You're gonna shed those lonely tears;
(Walk back) Walk back through the heartaches;
(Walk back) Walk back through the pain;
(Shed those) Shed those lonely teardrops:
The reaction of your cheating game.
You're gonna to cry to me, now!
You got to cry - cry - cry to me, yeah!
Saying, (don't know) don't know - know how I get from the heartaches;
(Lord that) Lord that leadeth me, yeah-eah-eah!
(Shed those lonely teardrops) Now I'm by the still water;
(The reaction of your cheating game) Gonna cry to me now, hey!
(Cry) Cry
Poor little dreamer
Stand inside the door
You can't find the easy rhymes
Of time you had before
It hurts my heart so bad
Seeing you sigh and shake
Broken down so low - so sad
I can't let you break
Cry to me - Cry to me
You better not hide it
Let it come - let it bleed
I ain't laughing - reach in and get it
And set it free
Cry to me - Cry to me
The glass is empty and the wine
Is bitter on your tongue
People don't seen wild and fine
Like when you were young
You're lonesome over a stormy ocean
Lost in the rain and wind
We can clear these clouds away

Suferi mult, dar vrei sa ma uiti
Crezi ca totul trece
Nu vreau nimic, doar sa ma asculti
Cu inima ta rece.
Crede-ma, ce-am pastrat in suflet
Este numai, numai pentru tine
Am gresit, stiu, dar iarta-ma iubito
Vreau din nou sa crezi in mine...
Stiu ca te-a ranit,
Stiu ca fara mine multi ai suferit
Dar crede-ma, n-a fost nici o clipa
Sa nu te fi iubit.
Crede-ma, O lume va sti
Ca viata mea e-n tine
Crede-ma,
Oricat vei iubi
Nu vei iubi ca mine.
Nu mai rezist, simt ca te pierd
Si totul plange-n mine
Nu vreau nimic,
Doar sa ma petreci
In lumea fara tine.
Crede-ma, luna de pe cer
Va fi numai, numai a ta
Doar eu iti voi da toata viata mea
Crede-ma, soarele pe cer
Va luci numai, numai pentru tine
Si crede-ma... vreau sa crezi in mine.
Crede-ma, O lume va sti
Ca viata mea e-n tine
Crede-ma,
Oricat vei iubi
Nu vei iubi ca mine.
In visurile mele te voi iubi cand vei lipsi,
In gandurile mele doar tu vei fi
Cand voi muri.
Crede-ma, iarta-ma iubeste-ma...
"baby, i see you packing
But it's no surprise for me
You see, i knew it was coming for a long time
Say what ? no, no i won't cry
You see i'm a big girl now, and i just can't cry no
more
But there's something i want you to know:
That i love you, i love you, i love you !
And there's one more thing i want you to know:
That if you ever need a friend
You can count on me
And honey:"
If you're falling down
And you can't seem to stay on the ground
And when friends get few
I'll be there to get you up
And if she puts you down
I'll be around, so don't be afraid
Cause i'll be there to get you up
And if it steal the smiles, rain and shine
If you're sad or glad, happy or bad
You can cry to me (cry to me)
Cry to me (cry to me)
No matter how harder things got to be
You can cry to me
Cry cry cry cry to me
Now i know i must sound
Just like a fool man love
But i can't help myself really comes to loving you baby
And i know you said
That our love was true
But if it "don't" work out
Honey here's what i want you to do
Drown my number
Knock on the door
Write me a letter
But just let me know
Cause you can cry to me (cry to me)
Honey cry to me (cry to me)
No matter how harder things got to be
You can cry to me (cry to me)
Oh yes you can cry, oh oh oh oh oh
Oh baby, oooh baby how i'm gonna miss you ...
Cause we've been together for so long
But i know it's gonna be hard to live without you
But i want you to know that
When times get harder you can drown my number
Knock on my door
Honey send me a telegram
But just let, just let me know
You can cry to me (cry to me)
No matter how harder things got to be
Cry to me (cry to me)

Ooh baby, ooh baby
It's been so good, it's been really good
I hope you feel the same way i do
When your baby leaves you all alone
And nobody calls you on the phone
