Leicester (/lɛstər/ LESS-tər pronunciation (help·info)) is a city and unitary authority in the East Midlands of England, and the county town of Leicestershire. The city lies on the River Soar and at the edge of the National Forest. In 2010, the population of the Leicester unitary authority was estimated at 306,600, the second highest in the region, whilst 441,213 people lived in the wider Leicester Urban Area in 2006, making Leicester the tenth most populous settlement in the United Kingdom and the UK's fourteenth largest urban area. It is the largest city in the East Midlands yet has the second largest urban area in the region behind Nottingham Urban Area. Eurostat's Larger Urban Zone listed the population of the area at 772,400 people as of 2004.
Ancient Roman pavements and baths remain in Leicester from its early settlement as Ratae Corieltauvorum, a Roman military outpost in a region inhabited by the Celtic Corieltauvi tribe. Following the demise of Roman society the early medieval Ratae Corieltauvorum is shrouded in obscurity, but when the settlement was captured by the Danes it became one of five fortified towns important to the Danelaw. The name "Leicester" is thought to derive from the words castra of the "Ligore", meaning camp of the dwellers on the (river) Legro. Leicester appears in the Domesday Book as "Ledecestre". Leicester continued to grow throughout the Early Modern period as a market town, although it was the Industrial Revolution that facilitated a process of rapid unplanned urbanisation in the area.

History called her "The Temptress"!
Mary, Queen of Scots: [to Queen Elizabeth I] I might have known you'd come to gloat like this - stealthily, under cover of night.
Queen Elizabeth I: You were born too close to my throne.
Mary, Queen of Scots: I have loved as a woman loves, lost as a woman loses... My son shall sit on the throne! My son shall rule England! Still, still, I win!
Queen Elizabeth I: Rebellion! How I hate that word!
Mary, Queen of Scots: [to Bothwell] What's my throne? I'd put a torch to it for any one of the days with you.
Moray: I have only followed my conscience.::Mary, Queen of Scots: I hope you have one.
Mary, Queen of Scots: War! Is that all you men know?

He was standing at the bleachers at the football game
He was kinda cute, I didn’t know his name
He was lookin’ at me, I was lookin’ at him
He started walking my way, and then….
uh, uh, oh, what am I gonna do now
uh, uh, oh, my heart is beating so loud
What a beautiful surprise
Right before my eyes
Snow cone in his hand, smile a mile wide
Gotta take a deep breath, I’m getting butterflies
What a beautiful surprise
He said, “I haven’t seen you around here before”
Asked me what team I was rootin’ for
I said, “It doesn’t really matter to me right now,
Cause all I wanna do is hang out”
Oh, oh, oh, somethin’ funny happened
Oh, oh, oh, he wrote his number on a napkin
What a beautiful surprise
Right before my eyes
Wearing a Titans t-shirt, ripped up Wrangler jeans,
With butterscotch hair, he’s a walkin’, talkin’ dream
What a beautiful surprise
The crowd was goin’ crazy, confetti everywhere
Time stood still for that moment
And all I could do was stare
When he looked at me and said,
“You’re a beautiful surprise,
You’re a beautiful surprise”
You’re a beautiful surprise
What a beautiful surprise
Right before my eyes
Right before me eyes
You’re a beautiful surprise
Everybody looks away, nobody wants to tell me what’s really going on
I wanna ask, I really wanna know, cause they gotta be all wrong
I know he loves me
He says he loves me
He would never lie to me
You never know till you see it
Don’t believe it
Can’t be happening to you
You heard the whispers, heard the rumors
Nothing hits you like the truth
There he is with her tonight
Seein is believin
Seein is believin
I wanna run away, I wanna cry, I wanna scream
Until the stars fall from the sky
I wish that it would go away
I wish that it was yesterday
Or I could close my eyes
He’s holding her
She’s kissing him
Can’t let them see me cry
(Chorus)
It’s like a slap in the face
It’s like I’ve been erased
It’s like it never meant nothin at all
He was working at the movies and we were standing in line
And I remember telling you just look at those brown eyes
So don’t act like I never said it
Cause that moment, I won’t forget it
I saw him first
You’re out of line
Can’t you see that boy is mine
Save it stop it don’t you get it
I saw him first
So quit being such a flirt
Sweep yourself under a rug
Cause he fits me like a glove
And I saw him first
I wonder if you want him just because I want him too
I know that you know better
That’s just something friends don’t do
So just back off, go find another
Cause there’s more boys and more summers
(Chorus)
So girl be careful what you’re doing, what ‘cha doing?
And I don’t know who you think you’re fooling
(Chorus)
There you are in that same old t-shirt you always wear
And here I am still five foot seven with wavy hair
Same old bench, same old tree, same place where we always meet but now
The whole world has changed somehow
Hold your hand and dance underneath the moon
That’s what I wanna do
Just me and you
More than friends begins with one kiss then two
And that’s what I wanna do
Baby, how ‘bout you?
Do, do, do, do
Baby, how ‘bout you?
Do, do, do, do
Do you wanna wake up with me shining on your mind
Do you wanna see sparks when you look into my eyes
Stand real close, walk to slow, when it’s time to walk me home at night
Yeah, do you ever wish that I
Would hold your hand and dance underneath the moon
That’s what I wanna do
Just me and you
More than friends begins with one kiss then two
And that’s what I wanna do
Baby, how ‘bout you?
I’ll stil be your rock and you’ll still make me laugh
Oh, but don’t you wanna kiss me, make us so much more than that
(do’s)
Oh, I wanna hold your hand and dance underneath the moon
That’s what I wanna do
Just me and you
More than friends begins with one kiss then two
And that’s what I wanna do, that’s what I wanna do
Hold your hand and dance underneath the moon
That’s what I wanna do
Just me and you
More than friends begins with one kiss then two
And that’s what I wanna do
Baby, how ‘bout you?
Do, do, do, do
Baby, how ‘bout you?
Do, do, do, do
That’s what I wanna do (do’s)
Yeah, baby
Sometimes I think about his eyes
How they're gonna look into mine
And I'll see all the love that I've been dreaming of
Sometimes I imagine his voice
Like a song above the noise
And all the words I'll hear him whispering softly in my ear
Now don't think I'm Snow White
Just waiting for my prince
But life will lead me to a door where he will walk in
Life is a mystery
Each day is my journey
Into the unknown where I'm meant to go
There's no twist or turn to be afraid of
Cause I know each step's taking me
Closer to love
Closer to love
I've walked on both sand and ice
And I've fallen once or twice
I had no hand to hold when it got dark and cold and I
Stood at forks in the road
Didn't know which way to go
But I figured it out and now somewhere I have no doubt
Someone's on his way
And he's right on time
And someday his own path will turn and join with mine, yeah
Life is a mystery
Each day is my journey
Into the unknown where I'm meant to go
There's no twist or turn to be afraid of
Cause I know each step's taking me
Closer to love
Once he finally finds me
He'll always be beside me
I wonder if today's the day
Life is a mystery
Each day is my journey
Into the unknown where I'm meant to go
There's no twist or turn to be afraid of
Cause I know each step's taking me
Closer to love
Closer to love
Life is a mystery
Each day is my journey
I used to hide and keep inside
Afraid to show the world who I was
In shades of gray, I’d spend my days
So invisible because
They’d always put me down
Yeah, I let ‘em keep me down
But look at me now, look at me now
Finally comin’ out and I’m wantin’ to fly
Gonna spread my wings, bright and colorful things
Let ‘em take me up and touch the sky
They thought they knew me plain and shy
But all along I was a Butterfly
Why live a life in black and white
Wrapped up in a safe little space
It’s only fear that kept me here
With dreams too big for this small place
They liked me deaf and dumb
Had no idea what I’ve become
And look at me now, look at me now
Finally comin’ out and I’m wantin’ to fly
Gonna spread my wings, bright and colorful things
Let ‘em take me up and touch the sky
They thought they knew me plain and shy
But all along I was a Butterfly
These colors of mine are unique
Gonna be who I’m meant to be
Now I see it’s all up to me
Look at me now, look at me now
Finally comin’ out and I’m wantin’ to fly
Gonna spread my wings, bright and colorful things
Let ‘em take me up and touch the sky
They thought they knew me plain and shy
But all along I was a Butterfly
Yeah, I AM a Butterfly (look at me now, look at me now, look at me now)
Oh Yea
Yeah, I AM a Butterfly (look at me now, look at me now, look at me now)
I know if I have to talk at 2 A.M.
You’ll pick up the phone and then
Just like that I’ll be okay
And I know if I’m straying just outside the lines
You’ll pull me back in just in time
To save the day
And I know I can count on you through thick and thin
Together till the very end
You’re my best friend
When I talk you finish my sentence
It’s you and me when the world’s against us
Nothing ever comin’ between us
You’re my best friend
I never walk alone when I’m with you
All the laugh and cryin’ we get through
I don’t know what I’d do without you
You’re my best friend
We share secrets like we share our clothes
That happy dance nobody knows
And we think we’re cool
You know about the boy who broke my heart
You’re the one who warned me from the start
But I was such a fool
(Pre-chorus)
(Chorus)
You and I like sisters, sure we have our fights
Deep down inside, we’re just so alike
It all started at 2 in the morning
When you left the place you called home
All it took was the wave of your little son’s hand
To stay safe wherever you may roam
Now I don’t know what it like to be on the other side
But I do know it’s not easy to say goodbye
So, thank you for all your strength
Thank you for saving me and the lives of the people we love
Thank you for being there, when you could have gone anywhere, and been just
a normal man
Thank you for fighting for me
You sent letters to your house on the corner
And hoped for the same in return
When you finally got that note with your wife’s perfect writing
And Jimmy’s name he wrote with a hand so firm
You pressed it to your heart and felt all that she said
You opened the letter and carefully read
Thank you for all your strength
Thank you for saving me and the lives of the people we love
Thank you for being there, when you could have gone anywhere, and been just
a normal man
Thank you for fighting for me
After ten struggling months, you finally came home
To your family so sweet you’ve missed all along
When you went to church on Sunday you found
All the people from your little town, saying
Thank you for all your strength
Thank you for saving me and the lives of the people we love
Thank you for being there, when you could have gone anywhere, and been just
a normal man
You blew in like the wind does
Ahead of a summer storm
How you swept my heart up was a little frightening
But your smile, like the sun, was so warm
So caught up in each other
We never noticed the days flying by
Now I’m sitting hear watching the leaves fall
But I’m back there with you, in my mind
These memories, like seashells, brought home
Now they tell the story, remind me, of just how I felt
Walking beside you, laughing like we do, hands held
You gave me a kiss I still taste on my lips
With the salt of my tears
Like Souvenirs
That last day, we sat on a blanket
Watchin’ clouds roll across the sky
For the first time, we both were pretty quiet
All we had now to say was goodbye
Before we left, you drew a heart in the sand
And put our names inside
The tide came in, but for a moment
I was yours, and you were mine
These memories, like seashells, brought home
Now they tell the story, remind me, of just how I felt
Walking beside you, laughing like we do, hands held
You gave me a kiss I still taste on my lips
With the salt of my tears
Like Souvenirs
Are you thinking ‘bout me now
Do you sometimes wish somehow
Summer didn’t have to end
And we’d have more than
These memories, of you and me
They’ll never be a September
Oh, it hurts to remember
Walking beside you, laughing like we do, hands held
You gave me a kiss I still taste on my lips
With the salt of my tears
Like Souvenirs
through love's labor,
her labor
sons and daughters were blessed and given favor
she smiled and we were safe
she cried the cords gave way
we grew into life
we left our homes too soon
too soon... too soon.. too soon..
my mother's face
her state of grace
I hope I have your strength and all your gentle ways
she smiled and we were safe
she cried the cords gave way
we grew into life
we left our homes too soon... too soon...
too soon.. too soon
as the years, they come and go
she will find her soul
in quiet life. she will hear
those voices sound so sweet and clear
so sweet and clear, so sweet and clear
so sweet and clear, so sweet and clear
it's too soon
too soon
too soon... it's too soon...
... yeah... hey...yeah...yeah...
Bring me little water, Sylvie

Can't you hear me calling Sylvie
Can't you hear me calling now
Can't you hear me calling Sylvie
Every little once in a while
Sylvie come a runnin'
Sylvie's comin' now
Sylvie come a runnin'
When the rain is blowing in your face
And the whole world is on your case
I would offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my love
When the evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love
I know you haven't made your mind up yet
But I would never do you wrong
I've known it from the moment that we met
No doubt in my mind where you belong
I'd go hungry, I'd go black and blue
I'd go crawling down the avenue
There ain't nothing that I wouldn't do
To make you feel my love
The storms are raging on a rolling sea
Down the highway of regret
The winds of change are blowing wild and free
But you ain't seen nothing like me yet
There ain't nothing that I wouldn't do
Go to the ends of the earth for you
Make you happy, make your dreams come true
(Originally sung by Chaka Khan)
Here is my hand for you to hold
Here's the part of me they have not sold
I've wandered far, i've had my fill
I need you now, do you love me still
Only you have seen the hidden part of me
Call me foolhardy if you will
But i loved you when, do you love me still
So many smiles and lies surround me
Empty expectations, faceless fears
Sometimes this life is a bitter pill
I love you now, do you love me still
You have been mine since time untold
Our love is immortal, don't you know
Others will come, and they will go
But i loved you young, i love you old
Only you have seen, the other side of me
Call me naive, i think you will
But i loved you then, do you love me still
Here are the eyes that only see you
Here is the mouth that only calls your name
Here is the soul that can not kill
I thought that innocence
Would be its own reward
Feeling so powerless
I feel my strength restored
I've fallen far enough
To see which way to go
And though I know I made a fortune
This life won't lay me low
You thought I was broken
You thought that my pride had all run out
Don't think for a moment
That my spirits gone
You're wrong again
My faith had been stolen
But I found the will to carry on
And if you never thought
I could be that strong
Wrong again
Oh, you're wrong again
Just when the darkness fell
My life began to shine
Now I can start to tell
The dreams that I call mine
Unless I can see myself
I'm losing my disguise
And you are sad to be mistaken
If you think the stars wont rise
You thought I was broken(thought that I was broken)
You thought that my pride had all run out
Don't think for a moment
My spirits gone
You're wrong again
My faith had been stolen(had been stolen)
But I found the will to carry on

Oh, you're wrong again
And if you never thought
I could be that strong
You thought that I was broken
You thought that my pride had all run out
Don't think for a moment

Wrong again(wrong again)
My faith had been stolen(had been stolen)
I found the will to carry on
And if you never thought
I could be that strong

Don't think for a moment
That my spirits gone
Wrong again
