Edward James Conlin (born September 2, 1933) is a retired American basketball player and coach.

A 6'5" guard/forward from Fordham University, Conlin played in the National Basketball Association from 1955 to 1962 as a member of the Syracuse Nationals, Detroit Pistons, and Philadelphia Warriors. He averaged 10.1 points per game in his NBA career.

Conlin later coached men's basketball at Fordham University.

Augustine of Hippo ( /ɒˈɡʌstɨn/ or /ˈɔːɡəstɪn/;Latin: Aurelius Augustinus Hipponensis; November 13, 354 – August 28, 430), also known as Augustine, St. Augustine, St. Austin,St. Augoustinos, Blessed Augustine, or St. Augustine the Blessed, was Bishop of Hippo Regius (present-day Annaba, Algeria). He was a Latin philosopher and theologian from Roman Africa. His writings were very influential in the development of Western Christianity.

According to his contemporary, Jerome, Augustine "established anew the ancient Faith." In his early years he was heavily influenced by Manichaeism and afterward by the Neo-Platonism of Plotinus. After his conversion to Christianity and baptism in AD 387, Augustine developed his own approach to philosophy and theology, accommodating a variety of methods and different perspectives. He believed that the grace of Christ was indispensable to human freedom, and he framed the concepts of original sin and just war.

When the Western Roman Empire was starting to disintegrate, Augustine developed the concept of the Catholic Church as a spiritual City of God (in a book of the same name), distinct from the material Earthly City. His thoughts profoundly influenced the medieval worldview. Augustine's City of God was closely identified with the Church, the community that worshipped God.

Edward W. Conlon (born 1965) is an author and former New York Police Department (NYPD) officer.

Born in the Bronx, Conlon spent most of his childhood in nearby Yonkers. He attended Regis High School and graduated from Harvard in 1987 before joining the force in 1995. Conlon's police experience focused on patrolling city-owned public housing developments, as well as arresting street-level drug dealers after observing their sales from surveillance posts. In 2002, he was promoted to the rank of detective, and was assigned to the Bronx's 44th Precinct. He retired as a Detective, Second Grade, in 2011 after 16 years with the department.

After college Conlon wrote a novel which remains unsubmitted and unpublished. His first published article for The New Yorker was "To the Potter's Field" (1993), a bleak piece about Hart Island, New York. After joining the NYPD, Conlon wrote the Cop's Diary column for The New Yorker from 1997 to 2000 under the pen name Marcus Laffey. In the latest issue of the New Yorker, dated Sept 12. 2011, Conlon wrote a piece in the Talk of the Town section titled "Paying Attention" about 9/11 and his final days with the NYPD detective unit. He plans to continue writing.

Michaela Conlin (born June 9, 1978) is an American stage and television actress best known for her work as Angela Montenegro on the Fox TV series Bones.

Conlin was born and raised in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She was born to a Chinese mother and an Irish father. She performed in her first play at the age of six and continued to appear on stage in numerous Pennsylvania community and regional productions. She attended Parkland High School in South Whitehall Township, Pennsylvania, where she starred in productions of Bye Bye Birdie and The Crucible. She graduated from Parkland High School in 1996.

Following her graduation from Parkland High School, Conlin moved to New York City to study acting and was accepted into New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. While working toward her B.F.A. in Theater, she appeared in several productions at the Atlantic Theater Company and the Playwrights Horizons Theater School, and traveled to Amsterdam to study with the Experimental Theatre Wing's International Training Program.
