'Soka Uncobe': King Mswati III
On July 15, 2011 the Swaziland Ministry of Health and Social welfare in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy in Swaziland and PEPFAR (the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief), launched the Soka Uncobe male circumcision campaign. Soka Uncobe, which means "circumcise and conquer" in siSwati, is part of the National Strategic framework on HIV/AIDS. King Mswati III encouraged all Swazi men and young boys to take part in the Soka Uncobe campaign to curb the spread of HIV/AIDS. He acknowledged that the Kingdom had initiated a number of campaigns to curb the spread of HIV, but this particular campaign needed the support of every individual in Swaziland. "The U.S. government has pumped in R1.4billion into the campaign that could help save the country spending R4 billion over ten years".- published: 29 Jul 2011

6th Wife of King Mswati Fled Over Domestic Abuse.wmv
The 6th wife of Swazi King Mswati III has fled the royal compound due to domestic abuse according to the Swaziland Solidarity Network. A royal guard revealed that Angela "LaGija" Dlamini was subjected to emotional and physical abuse by her husband for many years. She left the palace to visit her parents in Hhohho, northern Swaziland and never returned. LaGija is now the third wife to leave the royal household. According to a 2004 report in the Daily Sun, the first to flee was Delisa Magwaza 30, known as Inkhosikati LaMagwaza, who made her way to London via Cape Town. She was followed by Putsoana Hwala 30, known as Inkhosikati LaHwala, who left three children behind . Mswati's 12th wife Nothando Dube, 22, known as Inkhosikati LaDube, was placed under house arrest at the home of the king's mother in 2010 after an alleged affair with Swaziland's justice minister Ndumiso Mamba. Nothing seems to bother Mswati as he recently received a McDonnell Douglas DC-9 twin-engine jet for his 44th birthday despite a financial crisis in the country. He is also expected to attend Jubilee Celebration of the UK's Queen Elizabeth this month.- published: 18 May 2012

Swaziland King Chooses New Virgin Bride As 15th Wife
Swaziland's King Mswati III has chosen an 18-year-old beauty pageant contestant as his 15th wife, a palace spokesman said Tuesday, days before a much-criticised parliamentary vote. "I can confirm that the king has introduced to the nation a new liphovela (royal fiancee)," said Ludzidzini palace governor Timothy Mtetwa. Mswati, a 45-year-old who is sub-Saharan Africa's last absolute monarch, introduced Sindiswa Dlamini at a Reed Dance celebration over the weekend, Mtetwa told AFP. She wore red feathers on her head — a sign of royalty. The young woman graduated from Mbabane's St. Francis High School last year and is a finalist in the Miss Cultural Heritage beauty pageant. The winner will be announced on September 28. The king has come under fire for his household's lavish lifestyle while the tiny mountain kingdom's 1.2 million people struggle to make a living. Mswati reportedly has a personal fortune of around $200 million (152 euros) and the UN estimates that 70 percent of his 1.2 million subjects live below the poverty line. He has steadfastly resisted reforms. The new engagement was announced at a festival which also counted regional delegates who will observe parliamentary elections on Friday. Critics have slammed the polls as a sham, partly because political parties are banned and candidates are hand-picked by traditional leaders. The weekend's celebrations were a smaller repeat of last month's official annual Reed Dance, where young virgins from across the kingdom gather and dance for the king. "It just happened that the international community was there to witness the event," said Mtetwa. The wedding only takes place once the fiancee falls pregnant. Dlamini will then become Mswati's 14th wife. The monarch's colourful private life is off-limits in local media, but has drawn a lot of international interest. Three wives left the household in recent years. The latest, Queen LaGija, fled the palace in 2012 claiming years of physical and emotional abuse. Another queen, LaDube, was reportedly abused after she was caught in bed with the justice minister, a close friend of the king. Mswati had kidnapped and married the queen when she was 16 in 2005.- published: 22 Sep 2013

Swazi Secrets
Show you something what we as Vimeographers can do during our holidays: make a commercial for people who can't afford it and put it on Vimeo and YouTube! Can't tell you how satisfying this is to do and how happy and thankful they are!
SWAZI SECRETS is the range of natural oils and associated cosmetics produced by Swazi Indigenous Products, a community owned, not for profit Company set up to empower rural Swaziland women. The products are based on oil produced from the kernels of the marula, the King of African trees.
We visited as tourists the factory (March 2008) and offered the kind management a song and a commercial web clip. We worked it out and he brought us (with a 4wd into the bush in the far east of Swaziland to these very very poor but happy and so nice dressed rural woman) They get some Swazi $$ for picking and delivering the crushed nuts. I learned them this song. (Originally it is the Amarula song! Search Youtube on -AMARULA SONG- to see my 3 clips which I made in Namibia with kitchen personel singing it ) .
Some mailrespons from John Pearce he is the Executive Director. He sees his role as developing the Company and its product range before handing over to Swazi management.
-------------------
Hi Jan, It was really inspiring to meet with you yesterday and my mind has been buzzing with it since – thinking how we can get it used without even paying for TV advertising, ie getting the King to sing it at some events, that sort of thing.
-------------------- After seeing the clip:
Very, very many thanks - it's great. Everyone in the office is thrilled - we'll get it out to KaShoba for the women to see as soon as we can. We'll now set about getting links to it from our own and the various other Swazi Secrets websites. Many thanks also for the promo work on our behalf. The word is spreading......
----------------------Royal aprovement:
I had to go to see the Queen Mother (in the Palace of King Mswati III) so took along the video to show her - she was delighted with it so you can add royalty to your list of plaudits. Things are going very well here, especially with export sales.
Very best regards
John Pearce

I heard a Swazi Secret
I learned it from the trees
How nature has the answers
And we discovered these
There’s lots of Swazi Secrets
Marula is the best
So give your skin a real treat
And put it to the test

Prayercast | Swaziland
Swaziland is a small, landlocked country of now less than 1 million people. It is bordered by South Africa and Mozambique. Having gained its independence from Britain in 1968, Swaziland is home to the world’s last absolute monarchy, with King Mswati III ruling the country since 1986.
One thing that makes Swaziland unique from most all African countries is that its people are all from one tribe – Swazi. There are two major cities, Mbabane and Manzini. The majority of the people live in outlying rural areas, and sustain themselves through subsistence farming. The two official languages are SiSwati and English.
The problematic concerns in this nation revolve around economics and health. Roughly 75% of the population live on less than $1 a day. With only 95,000 total jobs in the country, over 60% of adults are unemployed. Because of poor communication infrastructure and government policies, economic growth is limited.
Swaziland also has the world’s highest HIV/AIDS infection rate at 26% of the adult population (and higher by some estimates). King Mswati III has created laws to prevent premarital relations, yet Swaziland continues to have the highest infection rate.
Because of the high HIV/AIDS infection rate, the number of orphans is growing exponentially. Currently there are over 120,000 orphans – more than 10% of the population. These children are growing up in a vacuum of family values, life skills and character.
Rampant poverty and disease highlight the nation’s need for prayer. Pray for a generation of surviving orphans to rise up and lead their country to full authentic faith in Jesus Christ. Pray for the grandmothers, who are the heroes of Swaziland as they step in to raise the orphans their own children leave behind. Pray for the people who suffer from economic and political problems, and pray for the leader, King Mswati III, as he makes decisions that affect the nation.
A long time prophecy calls Swaziland the “Pulpit of Africa.” Pray for the Christian leaders to disciple a nation toward the fulfillment of this prophecy. Pray for the challenges they face as His witnesses in a culture where immorality and occult practices are commonplace. Pray that Christians would not live in compromise, but would stand firm and hold the truth of God’s Words with love.
