Why I voted Yes on S. 384

I Voted Yes on S. 384, to extend the authority of the U.S. Postal Service to issue a semipostal to raise funds for breast cancer research.

I Voted Yes on S. 384, which allows the U.S. Postal Service to continue the sale of the Breast Cancer Research Stamp for another four years until 2015.  The sale of each 55-cent stamp designates 11 cents to breast cancer research, and the stamp has raised over $74 million for breast cancer research since its inception in 1998.

According to the American Cancer Society, more than 200,000 men and women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year.  Funding for the research and prevention of this devastating disease will help enable more breast cancer patients to become breast cancer survivors.

This bill was approved by a vote of 417 – 1.
