Why I Voted Yes on H.R. 2587

Why I Voted Yes on H.R. 2587

I voted Yes on H.R. 2587, the Protecting Jobs From Government Interference Act.  The bill would prohibit the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) from dictating where an employer can and cannot locate jobs within our country.  Importantly, however, the legislation does not change the definition of a violation under the National Labor Relations Act and the NLRB will still have more than a dozen remedies to hold employers accountable for unlawful labor practices.

As a union member and someone who built and ran my own construction business, this bill isn’t about one union or any specific company.  This is about how we keep our country competitive.  Currently, the NLRB is telling businesses in this country where they can and cannot create jobs.  That is not right.

We need to support unions in this country.  We also need to support companies.  Unions need companies to hire them.  This bill will allow businesses to stay here, thrive, retain labor and create more jobs.  This bill will also send a message that we value business just as much as labor in this county.  This bill says that the United States—all of them—are open for business.

Thst's why I supported H.R. 2587 - to get this country back to work.
