Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus is a double album released on June 26, 2007 by Walt Disney Records and Hollywood Records. The first disc serves as the soundtrack album for the second season of the television series Hannah Montana, while the second disc serves as the debut studio album by its primary actress Miley Cyrus. All twenty tracks are performed by Cyrus, although the first disc is credited to her titular character Hannah Montana. In the vein of the original soundtrack Hannah Montana (2006), The lyrical themes revolve largely around "girl power", teen romance, and the double life that Cyrus' character lives on the program.
Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus received generally mixed reviews from music critics, who were ambivalent towards its overall production and questioned Cyrus' ability to establish a career separate from the series. It debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 325,000 copies, and has since been certified quadruple-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for exceeding shipments of four million units. The album charted moderately on national record charts throughout Europe and Oceania, appearing in the top-twenty in several countries. It received a multi-platinum certification in Canada, single-platinum certifications in Australia and Sweden, and gold certifications in Mexico, Spain, and the United Kingdom and Sold more than 10 million .
Hollyweird is the seventh studio album by American hard rock band Poison, released on March 21, 2002 through Cyanide Music and debuted at No. 103 on The Billboard 200 chart and No. 8 on the Independent Albums chart. The album sold 11,000 copies in its first week with a No. 103 debut on the Billboard 200 chart.
The record brought together Poison's original line-up for the first full studio project since Flesh & Blood. The result was a combination of old and new sounds, with guitarist C. C. DeVille frequently preferring pop and punk rock sounds to the heavy metal style which had characterized Poison's previous records. The band's new style was particularly evident in the songs "Emperor's New Clothes", "Livin' In the Now" and "Home (C.C's Story)" which featured DeVille on lead vocals.
In the face of major label offers which would have required the band to re-record old material, the band decided to release the album through their own label, Cyanide Music. Hollyweird was recorded at Henson Recording Studios, in Hollywood, California and Rock Central Studios in Sherman Oaks, California with producer Thom Panunzio.
"Rockstar" is the fifth U.S. single by the Canadian alternative rock band Nickelback from their fifth studio album, All the Right Reasons (2005). It was only released in the United States and Canada, and has since been re-released worldwide. The lyrics feature the pretentious, materialistic desires of a wannabe rockstar, who desires lots of money, cars and women. Spoken-word vocals between each verse are provided by Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top.
"Rockstar" received overwhelmingly negative reviews from music critics and is considered one of the worst songs of all time, but went on to become Nickelback's most commercial successful single ever, peaking at number two in the United Kingdom and being certified Platinum. It has also sold 4.5 million copies in the United States.
Rolling Stone ranked "Rockstar" at number 100 in their list of the 100 best songs of 2007. Aside from its praise from Rolling Stone and popularity, the song is considered Nickelback's worst song, and some have even labeled it one of the worst songs of all time. "Rockstar" was listed at number 2 in BuzzFeed's list of the 30 worst songs ever written. They said: "If aliens came to earth and asked why everyone hates Nickelback so much, this song would be a perfect explanation. A 2008 Popjustice poll voted "Rockstar" as the worst single of the year.
Victory is the eleventh album by German band Running Wild. It is the third in a trilogy of a theme of good versus evil, started with Masquerade and continued with The Rivalry, and is the only album in their discography not to include any pirate-themed songs/topics. The album has sold over 250,000 copies worldwide.
The Final Waltz: strings arranged and produced by Ralf Nowy.
The song "Tsar" is about the Russian Emperor Nikolai II.
"Victory" is a song recorded by American hip hop recording artist Puff Daddy. The song was originally written by Christopher Wallace, Trevor Smith, Jason Phillips and Steven Jordan for his debut studio album No Way Out (1997). It features heavy use of mafioso-style lyrics, as was popular at the time. It features The Notorious B.I.G., who raps two verses, and Busta Rhymes, who raps the song's chorus. The song also heavily sampled the Bill Conti song "Going the Distance", which featured on the soundtrack to the movie Rocky making it a darker start to a rap album that featured many (at the time) club-standard singles. The song was released as a single in 1998, peaking at number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100. This song featured the very last verses recorded by The Notorious B.I.G. before his 1997 death.
The music video for the song was directed by Marcus Nispel on March 31, 1998 (although he was supposed to remain anonymous at the time of premiere) and is an homage to The Running Man. The almost eight-minute-long video featured cameos from Dennis Hopper as a New World Order dictator ("President Victor Castiglione") and Danny DeVito as a live action reporter. Tamara Beckwith was also in the video. Hopper and Devito reportedly appeared in the video pro bono as a favor to Combs.
Youthanasia is the sixth studio album by American thrash metal band Megadeth, released on November 1, 1994 through Capitol Records. The album is not a large stylistic departure from the band's earlier recordings; however it marked the continuing evolution of Megadeth, following the footsteps of the previous album Countdown to Extinction (1992). The album's title is a play on words, implying that society is euthanizing its youth. The cover art features an elderly woman hanging babies by their feet on a seemingly endless clothesline; the artwork concept was directly inspired from a line of the title track.
Youthanasia received positive reviews upon its release. It was commercially successful, peaking at number 4 on the Billboard 200 chart, and was certified platinum for shipping one million copies in the United States—a distinction achieved in 1995. A remixed and remastered edition featuring several bonus tracks and detailed liner notes was reissued on July 27, 2004.
