Each speciman will be placed into a specially designed container that has normal air being pumped into using a fan. The amount of oxygen being imputed and outputed will be recorded by an infrared gas analyzer (IRGA). Data recorded every hour for a 12 hour period. We hypothesize that plants that evolved at a higher elevation will produce more oxygen than plants at a lower elevation because those plants will be more efficient at fixing carbon dioxide. We predict that the Bloodroot found in the Smoky Mountains National Park will produce more oxygen than the Mistflower found in West Tennessee. Hypothesis Though we thought our hypothesis was logical, it was denied by our results.
