Ina Claire (October 15, 1893 – February 21, 1985) was an American stage and film actress.
Born Ina Fagan in 1893 in Washington, D.C., Claire began her career appearing in vaudeville. She performed on Broadway in the musicals Jumping Jupiter and The Quaker Girl (both 1911) and Lady Luxury, and starred on Broadway in plays by some of the leading comic dramatists of the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s, including the roles of Jerry Lamarr in Avery Hopwood's The Gold Diggers (1919), Mrs. Cheyney in Frederick Lonsdale's The Last of Mrs. Cheyney (1925), Lady George Grayston in W. Somerset Maugham's Our Betters (1928), and Enid Fuller in George Kelly's The Fatal Weakness.
Her last stage appearance was as Lady Elizabeth Mulhammer in T. S. Eliot's The Confidential Clerk (1954). She was particularly identified with the high comedies of S. N. Behrman, and created the female leads in three of his plays: Biography (1934), End of Summer (1936), and The Talley Method (1941). Behrman wrote of Claire's performance in one of Behrman's comedies: "Her readings were translucent, her stage presence encompassing. The flick of an intonation deflated pomposity. She never missed a nuance." Critic J. Brooks Atkinson praised Claire for her "refulgent comic intelligence. In films, she is best known as the Grand Duchess in the 1939 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer comedy, political satire Ninotchka.
Dorothy Hackett McGuire (June 14, 1916 – September 13, 2001) was an American actress.
Born in Omaha, Nebraska, she began her acting career on the stage at the Omaha Community Playhouse. Eventually, she reached Broadway, first appearing as an understudy to Martha Scott in Our Town, and subsequently starring in the domestic comedy, Claudia.
Brought to Hollywood by producer David O. Selznick on the strength of her stage performance, McGuire starred in her first film, a movie adaptation of her Broadway success, Claudia, and portrayed the character of a child bride who almost destroys her marriage through her selfishness. Her inaugural screen performance was popular with both the public and critics alike and was the catalyst for not only a sequel, Claudia and David (both movies co-starring Robert Young), but also for numerous other film roles.
By 1943, at the age of 27, she was already playing mother roles, in such movies as A Tree Grows In Brooklyn. She was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1947 for Gentleman's Agreement. Other notable films include The Enchanted Cottage, A Summer Place , Three Coins in the Fountain, Friendly Persuasion, Old Yeller, Swiss Family Robinson, The Greatest Story Ever Told, and The Dark at the Top of the Stairs.
Greta Garbo (18 September 1905 – 15 April 1990), born Greta Lovisa Gustafsson, was a Swedish film actress. Garbo was an international star and icon during Hollywood's silent and classic periods. Many of her films were sensational hits, and all but three of her twenty-four Hollywood films were profitable. Garbo was nominated four times for an Academy Award and received an honorary one in 1954 for her "luminous and unforgettable screen performances". She also won the New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Actress for both Anna Karenina (1935) and Camille (1936). In 1999, the American Film Institute ranked Garbo fifth on their list of greatest female stars of all time, after Katharine Hepburn, Bette Davis, Audrey Hepburn, and Ingrid Bergman.
Garbo launched her career with a leading role in the 1924 Swedish film The Saga of Gosta Berling. Her performance caught the attention of Louis B. Mayer, chief executive of Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM), who brought her to Hollywood in 1925. She immediately stirred interest with her first silent film, Torrent, released in 1926; a year later, her performance in Flesh and the Devil, her third movie, made her an international star.
Melvyn Edouard Hesselberg (April 5, 1901 – August 4, 1981), better known as Melvyn Douglas, was an American actor.
Coming to prominence in the 1930s as a suave leading man (perhaps best typified by his performance in the 1939 romantic comedy Ninotchka), Douglas later transitioned into more mature and fatherly roles as in his Academy Award-winning performances in Hud (1963) and Being There (1979).
Douglas was born in Macon, Georgia, the son of Lena Priscilla (née Shackelford) and Edouard Gregory Hesselberg, a concert pianist and composer. His father was a Jewish immigrant from Riga, Latvia, then part of Russia. His mother, a native of Tennessee, was Protestant and a Mayflower descendant. His maternal grandfather, George Shackelford, was a General and Civil War veteran.
Douglas, in his autobiography, See You at the Movies (1987), writes that he was unaware of his Jewish background until later in his youth: "I did not learn about the non-Christian part of my heritage until my early teens," as his parents preferred to hide his Jewish heritage. It was his aunts, on his father's side, who told him "the truth" when he was 14. He writes that he "admired them unstintingly and modeled" himself on them; they in turn treated him like a son.

Uncle Ray is gone, a relative they couldn't find
Finally free of his insanity, they covered him with lime
In a ditch outside the old junkyard on 17
Well that crazy drunk I swear he was a gentleman to me
So take him far far away
Take him far far away
Out past all discussions, far from what they said
Take him far far away
Take him far far away
'Cuz we're sort of related
Here lies Uncle Ray
Dry rough skin, his hands, a working man, like bark from trees
He'd come to the back door of my familiy's house
For coffee and something to eat
Pushed a shopping cart all filled with junk and empty cans
He came home from the war to find his wife
Now loved another man
So take him far far away
Take him far far away
Out past all discussions, far from what they said
Take him far far away
Take him far far away
'Cuz we're sort of related
Here lies Uncle Ray
In this photograph we're hand in hand in deep white snow
Ray was 65 and nearly blind, and I was 4 or so
All the neighbors used to laugh and throw snowballs at him
Now I live alone and when it snows
I try not to think of them
So take him far far away
Take him far far away
Out past all discussions, far from what they said
Take him far far away
Take him far far away
'Cuz we're sort of related
'Cuz we're sort of related
'Cuz we're sort of related
Here lies Uncle Ray
Whoa
Uncle Harry pissing in the bath
Whoa, pissing in the bath
Uncle Harry pissing in the bath
Whoa, pissing in the bath again
He lives in a small flat all alone
In the middle of a run down street
Spends most evenings up the pub
Drinking what he earned that week
Harry keeps to himself
Lives a quiet life
No one can remember
When Harry lost his mind
Whoa
Uncle Harry pissing in the bath
Whoa, pissing in the bath
Uncle Harry pissing in the bath
Whoa, pissing in the bath again
Oh Uncle Harry you've done it all again
You're pissing in the bath every now and then
I caught you in the wrong place
I caught you out of line
I tell you not to do it
But you do it all the time
Do it all the time
Whoa
Uncle Harry pissing in the bath
Whoa, pissing in the bath
Uncle Harry pissing in the bath
Whoa, pissing in the bath again
Poor Uncle Harry lost his mind along the way
Poor Uncle Harry happened twenty years today
Comes around to say hello
Little did we know
He's up to his old dirty tricks again
Oh Uncle Harry, you've done it all again
Oh Uncle Harry
We really shouldn't laugh
But every time we turn around
You're pissing in the bath
It's just a silly habit
And we can't help but remind
We tell you not to do it
But you do it all the time
Weak her bones, cold her breath
praying fearfully in the moment of death
feels the sleep goming near
tries to keep her eyes open and clear
through the dark, there's the sound she fears
Anne Claire, that is no love you got to share
Anne Claire, going into a sad lag of flair
Easy meet placed in an ugly game
lights a candle for an endless shame
your love is her pain, growing to hate
R.I.P. for rape, she's no longer your
Anne Claire, that is no love you got to share
Anne Claire, going into a sad lag of flair
Does she turn you on
diggin in her wound it's done
Go down on your Knees
pray for all your sins
be ready to join your last lesson
Be ready to join your last kiss
Anne Claire, that is no love you got to share
Anne Claire, going into a sad lag of flair
Does she turn you on
diggin in her wound it's done
Good bye, good bye my poor boy
Johnny m'a dit, Johnny m'a dit
Oublie ton père, oublie ta mère
Oublie ton coeur, oublie tes moeurs
Johnny m'a dit, Johnny m'a dit
Tupamaramos, Cangaceiros
C'est le camp qu'il faut choisir
Johnny m'a dit, Johnny m'a dit
Tout ça un soir où le ciel zèbré d'éclairs
Nous déclarait "Nous allons fonder le parti unique"
Johnny m'a dit, Johnny m'a dit
Rejoins tes frères, rejoins tes soeurs
Bois le sang de ton ennemi
Johnny m'a dit, Johnny m'a dit
Ecarte le rouge, écarte le blanc
La seule couleur, c'est noir brillant
Johnny m'a dit, Johnny m'a dit
Tout ça un soir où le ciel zèbré d'éclairs
Nous déclarait "Nous allons fonder le parti unique"
Et la victoire caresse l'espoir de nous appartenir
Et la victoire caresse l'espoir de nous appartenir
Car il faut tenir
Johnny m'a dit
Johnny m'a dit
Johnny m'a dit
I dream, dream of a lonely girl
Who sleeps, lost in her lonely world
Any sunset I'd give to you
Any colour that you like, all for you
She wakes wrapped in her naked room
The air filled with a sweet perfume
Any rainbow I'll save for you
Any colour that you like, all for you
I've waited, I've waited so long for you
To show my true colours come shining through
I dream, dream of a distant girl
Who sleeps, lost in a lonely world
In a diamond, I'll shine for you
She said I am not ready
Everything is over for me
And I’m the victim you're just selfish
Sea help me to immerse myself in my world
I'm lonely inside and doors close
In these clothes I don't feel anymore
Nevermind I'm a slave, I'm waiting for you
She said you make me so unclear now
You slip upon my skin
You make me feel so guilty
You suck my lymph
You eat my honey
She said I'm ready to calm down
To come out of you
Don't laugh at me, I walk with weights bound to my feet
It's not always summer, the only time I am worth something
I'm going to kill myself
Cos I am wrapped in this distress
Made to live by force
