Liam Cunningham (born 2 June 1961) is an Irish actor. He has appeared in numerous film and television productions including A Little Princess, First Knight, Jude, The Guard and the BBC One science-fiction drama series Outcasts. As of 2012 he has starred as Davos Seaworth in HBO's Game of Thrones.
Cunningham was born in East Wall, which is an inner city area of the Northside of Dublin. He has three sisters and a brother, and was raised in a Roman Catholic household. Cunningham dropped out of secondary school at 15 and pursued a career as an electrician. In the 1980s, Cunningham moved to Zimbabwe for three years where he maintained electrical equipment at a safari park and trained Zimbabwean electricians. After returning to Ireland, Cunningham became dissatisfied with his work as an electrician and decided to pursue his interest in acting. He attended acting classes and began to work in local theater. He is now starring as Davos Seaworth in the acclaimed television series, Game of Thrones
Cunningham's debut film role came in Into the West. His on-screen acting continued with minor roles in War of the Buttons, A Little Princess, Cracker-Best Boys and First Knight. Cunningham's breakout role came in Jude, playing Phillotson. He continued with small character roles in Police 2020, Falling for a Dancer, Shooting the Past, When the Sky Falls and Revelation. Cunningham came to international prominence with his role as Captain Ryan in the critically acclaimed independent horror film, Dog Soldiers. Since then, Cunningham has starred in numerous high budget British and American films including The League of Gentlemen's Apocalypse, The Wind That Shakes the Barley, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Hunger, Clash of the Titans and Centurion. On television he appears as the President in the BBC programme Outcasts first broadcast in February 2011, and as of 2012 he has starred as Davos Seaworth in HBO's Game of Thrones.
Carice Anouk van Houten (Dutch pronunciation: [kaˑˈris ɑˈnuk vɑn ˈɦʌu̯tə(n)]; born 5 September 1976) is a Dutch stage and film actress. She won five Golden Calves for her roles in Suzy Q (1999), Undercover Kitty (2001), Black Book (2006), De Gelukkige Huisvrouw (2010) and most recently for Black Butterflies (2011). Her role in Black Book launched her international career. She acted in the American films Valkyrie (2008) and Repo Men (2010).
Van Houten was born on 5 September 1976 in Leiderdorp, the Netherlands. Her mother Margje Stasse is on the board of Dutch educational TV and her father Theodore van Houten is a writer and broadcaster. She has a younger sister, Jelka van Houten, who is also an actress. She went to the St. Bonifatiuscollege (high school) in Utrecht, where she played the leading role in Hugo Claus' Tijl Uilenspieghel, directed by Ad Migchielsen. Van Houten studied at the Kleinkunstacademie in Amsterdam.
Carice van Houten played her first leading role in Martin Koolhoven's TV film Suzy Q. Van Houten won a Golden Calf for her part as Suzy. She also won the Pisuisse Award and the Top Naeff Award for her stage acting and another Golden Calf for her part as the kitten that becomes a girl in Undercover Kitty (2001). The first time she could be seen in cinemas in the USA was when Martin Koolhoven's AmnesiA (2001) got a small theatrical release.
Maisie Williams (born 15 April 1997) is a British actress.
Her first role was that of Arya Stark, a tomboyish young girl from a noble family, in the 2011 HBO fantasy TV series Game of Thrones. In the adult-themed drama Williams was the first child actor called upon to film their character killing, in episode eight of the first season. She received acclaim for her performance with Zap2it calling her "wonderfully feisty" and the Telegraph "fantastic".
Williams continued to garner praise in the second season of Game of Thrones. HBO submitted her for consideration as Outstanding Supporting Actress in the 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards.
Williams is to appear as Loren Caleigh in the BBC's The Secret of Crickley Hall TV drama and in an as-yet unnamed role in Bold Films' 124 Degrees movie.
Alfonso Cuarón Orozco (Spanish pronunciation: [alˈfonso kwaˈɾon]; born 28 November 1961) is a Mexican film director, screenwriter and film producer, best known for his films Children of Men, Y tu mamá también, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and A Little Princess.
Alfonso Cuarón was born in México City and is the son of Alfredo Cuarón, a nuclear physicist who worked for the United Nations' International Atomic Energy Agency for many years.
Cuarón studied Philosophy at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and filmmaking at CUEC (Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos), a faculty of the same University. There, he met director Carlos Marcovich and cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki, and they made what would be his first short film, Vengeance is mine. The controversy caused by the fact that the film was shot in English was the reason he was expelled from the film school.
Cuarón began working in television in Mexico, first as a technician and then as a director. His television work led to assignments as an assistant director for several Latin American film productions including Gaby: A True Story and Romero, and in 1991, he landed his first big-screen directorial assignment.
Michael Fassbender (born 2 April 1977) is an Irish-German actor. He is perhaps best known for having played Lieutenant Archie Hicox in the war film Inglourious Basterds (2009), Magneto in the superhero film X-Men: First Class (2011), and the android David in the science fiction film Prometheus.
His other credits include the fantasy action film 300 (2007); the drama film Fish Tank (2009); the romantic drama film Jane Eyre (2011); the historical film A Dangerous Method (2011), directed by David Cronenberg, in which he plays psychologist Carl Jung; as well as the biographical film Hunger (2008) and the drama film Shame (2011), both directed by Steve McQueen. For his role in Shame, he won the Volpi Cup best-actor award at the 68th Venice International Film Festival held in August 2011 along with being nominated for a Golden Globe Award and BAFTA.
Fassbender was born in Heidelberg, Baden-Württemberg, West Germany (now Germany). His mother is from Larne, County Antrim in Northern Ireland, and his father, Josef Fassbender, is German. According to Fassbender's "family lore", his mother is the great-great-niece of Michael Collins, an Irish leader during the War of Independence. When he was two years old, his parents moved to Killarney, County Kerry, in the Republic of Ireland, where they ran the West End House, a restaurant where his father worked as a chef. Fassbender was brought up as a Roman Catholic and served as an altar boy.
