Hercules

Hercules is the Roman name for the Greek divine hero Heracles, who was the son of Zeus (Roman equivalent Jupiter) and the mortal Alcmene. In classical mythology, Hercules is famous for his strength and for his numerous far-ranging adventures.

The Romans adapted the Greek hero's iconography and myths for their literature and art under the name Hercules. In later Western art and literature and in popular culture, Hercules is more commonly used than Heracles as the name of the hero. Hercules was a multifaceted figure with contradictory characteristics, which enabled later artists and writers to pick and choose how to represent him. This article provides an introduction to representations of Hercules in the later tradition.

Mary Poppins

Mary Poppins is the lead character in a series of eight children's books written by P. L. Travers. Throughout the Mary Poppins series, which was published over the period 1934 to 1988, Mary Shepard was the illustrator. The books centre on a magical English nanny, Mary Poppins. She is blown by the East wind to Number 17 Cherry Tree Lane, London, and into the Banks's household to care for their children. Encounters with chimney sweeps, shopkeepers and various adventures follow until Mary Poppins abruptly leaves, i.e., "pops-out". Only the first three of the eight books feature Mary Poppins arriving and leaving. The later five books recount previously unrecorded adventures from her original three visits. As P. L. Travers explains in her introduction to Mary Poppins in the Park, "She cannot forever arrive and depart."

The books were adapted by Walt Disney in 1964 into a musical film titled Mary Poppins, starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke. In 2004, Disney Theatrical, in collaboration with Cameron Mackintosh (who had previously acquired the stage rights from Travers) produced a stage musical also called Mary Poppins in the West End theatre. The stage musical was transferred to Broadway in 2006, where it ran until its closing on March 3, 2013. In 2013 the film Saving Mr. Banks depicted the making of the 1964 film.

Do You Feel

Do You Feel is The Rocket Summer's third full-length album, released on July 17, 2007 through Island Records. On this album, Bryce Avary incorporates more diverse instrumentation, including saxophone.

Initially available on MySpace on July 10, the entire album was leaked onto the Internet on July 13. Following its release, the album debuted at number 44 on the U.S. Billboard 200, selling about 15,000 copies in its first week.

The music video for "Do You Feel" featured Josh Farro of Novel American and formerly of Paramore and Jeremy Davis of Paramore, Andrew McMahon of Jack's Mannequin, Matt Thiessen of Relient K, Ian Crawford and Cash Colligan formerly of The Cab, Forrest Kline of Hellogoodbye, Mike Herrera of MxPx, Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low, and Jonathan Cook of Forever The Sickest Kids.

Hercules and Love Affair

Hercules and Love Affair is a dance music project created by American DJ Andy Butler in 2008. Consisting of a rotating cast of performers and musicians, the band work within the genres of house music, disco, and nu-disco.

Originally based in New York City, Hercules and Love Affair were founded following Butler's collaboration with Antony Hegarty to produce the song "Blind", which was a hit single. Signing to DFA Records, early members include Butler, Kim Ann Foxman, Mark Pistel, Aérea Negrot, Shaun Wright and Nellyphant. In 2008 they released their self-titled debut album, which received critical praise and charted in the top 40 in several countries.

A second album, Blue Songs, followed in 2011. Butler subsequently moved to Vienna, Austria, and in 2014 the band's third album, The Feast of Broken Hearts, was released, featuring guest vocals from John Grant as well as new primary vocalists Rouge Mary and Gustaph.
