Plot
Leaving school for the day, seven-year old Taichi finds a baby fox alongside a road in rural Hokkaido. The two bond, and Taichi decides to leave the fox with the police as a lost item. The policeman on duty takes a reluctant Taichi and the fox to the local Yajima Veterinary Clinic. It turns out that Taichi has begun to live with Ko, the vet, and his teenage daughter Misuzu after his free-spirited mother Ritsuko has gone to Micronesia to work as a photographer. Many people have abandoned animals with Ko, and paying customers are few with most of his income coming from frequently boarding a friendly dog that is almost part of the family. Taichi feels abandoned as well, and clashes with Ko when the vet sees the new arrival as a burden, especially after discovering that the fox is deaf and blind. However, Taichi names it Helen after Helen Keller and attempts to bring her back to full health while teaching her about the world as sort of a young Annie Sullivan. Even though Taichi gets her to eat, Helen suffers increasing fits stemming from her damaged brain.

[2014-11-26] POLICE SEEK WEDDING ASSAULT SUSPECT IN VAUGHAN

Investigators with the York Regional Police #4 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are releasing surveillance video and seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with an assault in the City of Vaughan. On Saturday, November 8, 2014, a fourteen-year-old male was working at a banquet hall in Vaughan during a large wedding reception. At approximately 12:15 a.m., the male walked outside the front doors and asked a group of wedding guests to return inside the building with their alcohol. After making the request the male was assaulted by one of the guests, who struck the victim with a head butt. The victim suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital. The suspect left the scene prior to police arrival. Suspect described as: • Male, white • 25 to 35 years • 6’, with a thin build • Short, dark hair Police are releasing a video of the assault and requesting public assistance in identifying the suspect. The actual assault occurs at 12:16:01 of the video at the front door of the banquet hall. Investigators are looking to speak with anyone who may have been at the event who have not spoken with police yet or anyone who recognizes this suspect. Denver police officer seen tripping pregnant woman, repeatedly punching suspect’s face

DENVER — Video taken by a witness during an arrest shows a Denver police officer punching a suspect in the face six times and then tripping the man’s girlfriend who is seven-and-a-half months pregnant, causing her to land on her belly and face. The witness who took the video claims an officer then took the tablet he was using to record the arrest, deleted the video file, not realizing it had already been stored on the electronic cloud. The limited-use video obtained by FOX 31 in Denver shows the suspect’s head bouncing off the pavement from the force of the punches. According to police reports, the uniformed police officer, Charles “Chris” Jones IV made the arrest after undercover narcotics police officers say they saw the suspect, David Flores, a suspected drug user, stuff a white sock in his mouth that they suspected was full of heroin. Police say Flores refused to respond to requests to show his hands. While Jones and his partner Christopher Evans were holding and punching Flores, a woman can be heard screaming. A few seconds later, Mayra Lazos-Guerrero, 25, falls hard on her face when Jones sweeps her feet out from under her. Jones said he did it because he thought she was going to kick him. Jones also cited two reasons for why he punched Flores. Watch the video for more on the criticism over the arrest of Lazos-Guerrero and Flores, who according to FOX 31, didn’t show up for their most recent court appearance.

http://www.undergroundworldnews.com Police officers have been responsible for more homicides in the state of Utah since 2010 than gangs or drug dealers, a new report has revealed. Of the nearly 300 homicides in the state in the past five years, from the beginning of 2010 through October 2014, Utah police have killed 45 of those victims, or 15 percent, according to a review of records - ranging from media reports and crime statistics to medical-examiner and court documents - by the Salt Lake Tribune. Police account for more killings than gangs, drug dealers or from child abuse, the newspaper reported, but less than spouse or dating-partner fatalities. A fatal police shooting that occurred on Saturday was not counted and remains under investigation, the Tribune reported. "The numbers reflect that there could be an issue, and it’s going to take a deeper understanding of these shootings," said Chris Gebhardt, a former police lieutenant and sergeant who worked in Washington, DC and Utah. "It definitely can’t be written off as citizen groups being upset with law enforcement." In addition, almost all uses of deadly force by police have gone unpunished by county prosecutors across the state. Detectives Believe Citizens Have Critical Information in Case Homicide Unit detectives today released surveillance video of the suspect who shot and killed 39-year-old Hollis Bradford Johnson in Chillum last month. Detectives strongly believe there are citizens who have critical information in this case. Anyone with information is encouraged to call our Crime Solvers line. New Delhi (CNN) -- Police on Wednesday arrested an Indian guru after clashing, sometimes violently, with his supporters over the last 10 days. Also on Wednesday, his followers turned over six bodies that authorities believe died of illness. The spiritual leader, Rampal Maharaj, was arrested by Indian police without resistance from his followers, said regional administrative commissioner M.L. Kaushik. Police had surrounded the ashram and ordered its evacuation, cutting off the water and electricity, and warned they wouldn't leave until they had arrested Rampal. His supporters clashed Tuesday with police officers who were trying to storm the sprawling ashram -- a kind of religious compound -- to take the guru into custody, according to Kaushik. Tensions between police and the guru's supporters started some 10 days ago when the followers didn't let officers arrest him, the commissioner said. The situation began to escalate, culminating in the full-blown clashes. Several security personnel were injured in the clashes with the guru's followers, who fired shots and pelted police with stones at the site in the northern state of Haryana, police said. Television footage showed hundreds of police in riot gear aiming water cannon and tear gas at stone-throwing crowds. As many as 85 of Rampal's followers were hurt, authorities said. After the clashes, thousands of the supporters left the ashram overnight and into Wednesday, police said. Early Wednesday afternoon, they estimated that about 5,000 people remained inside the 2½ acre complex, which was reported to be calmer. Police said the six dead bodies, with no visible signs of injury, were handed to them by the ashram authorities. "We believe they were sick and died because of lack of medical attention on time," Kaushik said. The bodies will undergo autopsies at a nearby hospital to determine the cause of death. Rampal, 63, is a worshiper of Kabir, a 15th-century Indian mystic, according to his website. Authorities were carrying out arrest orders for him after he had repeatedly failed to appear in court in connection with a 2006 murder case, Kaushik said.
