Leiden (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈlɛi̯.də(n)] ( listen); in English and archaic Dutch also Leyden) is a city and municipality in the Dutch province of South Holland. The municipality of Leiden has a population of about 120,000, but the city forms one densely connected urban area with its suburbs Oegstgeest, Leiderdorp, Voorschoten, Valkenburg, Rijnsburg and Katwijk, which have about 254,000 inhabitants combined. The larger Leiden agglomeration counts 332,000 inhabitants which makes it the sixth major agglomeration in the Netherlands. Leiden is located on the Old Rhine, at a distance of some 20 kilometers from The Hague to its south and some 40 kilometers from Amsterdam to its north. The recreational area of the Kaag Lakes (Kagerplassen) lies just to the northeast of Leiden.
A university city since 1575, Leiden houses Leiden University and Leiden University Medical Centre. It is twinned with Oxford, the location of England's oldest university.
It is true that Leiden is an old city, its connection with Roman Lugdunum Batavorum is true though it is actually near the close-by town of Katwijk, whereas the Roman settlement near modern Leiden was called Matilo. However, there was a Roman fortress in Leiden in the 4th century.[citation needed]
Thomas Samuel Kuhn ( /ˈkuːn/; July 18, 1922 – June 17, 1996) was an American historian and philosopher of science whose controversial 1962 book The Structure of Scientific Revolutions was deeply influential in both academic and popular circles, introducing the term "paradigm shift," which has since become an English-language staple.
Kuhn has made several notable claims concerning the progress of scientific knowledge: that scientific fields undergo periodic "paradigm shifts" rather than solely progressing in a linear and continuous way; that these paradigm shifts open up new approaches to understanding that scientists would never have considered valid before; and that the notion of scientific truth, at any given moment, cannot be established solely by objective criteria but is defined by a consensus of a scientific community. Competing paradigms are frequently incommensurable; that is, they are competing accounts of reality which cannot be coherently reconciled. Thus, our comprehension of science can never rely on full "objectivity"; we must account for subjective perspectives as well.
(Weidner)
Ich bin hoch geflogen
Tief gefallen
Ich war ganz oben
Und hab' Gott bei der Arbeit gesehn.
Ich schmorte in der Hölle
Küßte dem Teufel den Arsch
Ich sah in den Himmel
Und in, und in mein eigenes Grab.
Ich trieb' s mit Engeln
Ich feierte Siege
Ich triumphierte und verlor
Ich starb aus Liebe.
Ich habe viel verloren
Doch nie meine Träume
Manche wurden wahr
Die meisten aber blieben Schäume.
(Chor)
(Das sind,) Leere Worte
An einem toten Tag
Mein Hirn liegt im Nebel
Zuviel Koks, zuwenig Schlaf.
Zuviel von allem
Ein kleiner Tod
Ich hab' mich abgeschossen, ausgeknipst
Mich selbst überholt.
Ich wußte alles
Und hab alles vergessen
Ich kam, sah und siegte
Und hab' Scheiße gefressen
Was immer dabei rum kommt
Es kommt nichts dabei raus
Jeden Tag, die gleiche Scheiße
Ich will hier raus! Ich will hier raus!
