The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said at least 85 government soldiers loyal to Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad died (50 through executions), along with nearly 30 ISIS fighters, following a two-day assault on the base in Raqa.

Fake ISIS beheading photos: young children’s summer camp entertainers fired for emulating jihadis
Four entertainers who worked at a summer camp in France are facing legal action after reportedly staging a fake ISIS beheading, according to a report by Metro.co.uk.
The camp in Groix, Brittany is aimed at children ages 8-12. Authorities are still unsure if the children were actually present for the photo session.
The unidentified men were suspended from their position after Nicole Goueta, the local mayor, discovered 18 disturbing photos on a USB drive. She was reportedly preparing for a presentation for a regional camp exhibition.
Only one of the photos has apparently found its way online, and the original source of the image is unclear. In the photo, three men hold a “victim” with a newspaper and a sack over his head. One man holds a knife, and another holds a gun.
Goueta reportedly accused the men of glorifying terrorism.
“People entrust their children to their care,” Goueta told Metro. “It’s unacceptable behavior.”
Goueta said one of the photos depicted a child looking horrified. An entertainer’s foot can be seen in the same photo.

Capital punishment in Saudi Arabia
The use of capital punishment in Saudi Arabia is based on Sharia (or Islamic law) and is prominent internationally because of the wide range of crimes which can result in the death penalty and because it is usually carried out by public beheading. In 2011, the Saudi government reported 26 executions in the country.[1] Amnesty International counted a minimum of 79 in 2013.[2] Foreigners are not exempt, accounting for "almost half" of executions in 2013.[2]
Unlike executions in most other countries that have not abolished the death penalty, Saudi Arabia performs public executions in central Riyadh, instead of privately executing criminals in prisons. It is one of the last four countries to still carry out public executions
Methods and scope[edit]
Saudi Arabia has a criminal justice system based on a hardline and literal form of Sharia law reflecting a particular state-sanctioned interpretation of Islam.
The death penalty can be imposed for a wide range of offences[3] including murder, rape, false prophecy, blasphemy, armed robbery, repeated drug use, apostasy,[4] adultery,[5] witchcraft and sorcery[6] and can be carried out by beheading with a sword,[7] or more rarely by firing squad, and sometimes by stoning.
The 345 reported executions between 2007 and 2010 were all carried out by public beheading.[8] The last reported execution for sorcery took place in 2012.[9] There were no reports of stoning between 2007 and 2010,[8] but between 1981 and 1992 there were four cases of execution by stoning reported.[10]
Crucifixion of the beheaded body is sometimes ordered.[6] For example, in 2009, the Saudi Gazette reported that "An Abha court has sentenced the leader of an armed gang to death and three-day crucifixion (public displaying of the beheaded body) and six other gang members to beheading for their role in jewelry store robberies in Asir."[11] (This practice resembles gibbeting, in which the entire body is displayed).
In 2003, Muhammad Saad al-Beshi, whom the BBC described as "Saudi Arabia's leading executioner", gave a rare interview to Arab News.[4] He described his first execution in 1998: "The criminal was tied and blindfolded. With one stroke of the sword I severed his head. It rolled metres away...People are amazed how fast [the sword] can separate the head from the body."[4] He also said that before an execution he visits the victim's family to seek forgiveness for the criminal, which can lead to the criminal's life being spared.[4] Once an execution goes ahead, his only conversation with the prisoner is to tell him or her to recite the Muslim declaration of belief, the Shahada.[4] "When they get to the execution square, their strength drains away. Then I read the execution order, and at a signal I cut the prisoner's head off," he said.[4]

Islamic State (ISIS) has beheaded US citizen and aid worker Peter Kassig, according to video footage posted on social media - even though the hostage converted to Islam.
Kassig, who had converted and changed his name to Abdul-Rahman Kassig, is the fifth Western hostage to be murdered in ISIS's brutal social media campaign against the West.
Kassig, who served during the Iraq war before being medically discharged, became an emergency medical technician; he travelled to Lebanon in May 2012, volunteering in hospitals and treating Palestinian refugees and those fleeing Syria’s nearly four-year civil war.
His family released a plea to ISIS in October, begging the group to spare his life.
ISIS has beheaded hostages following strategic developments in the international airstrike campaign against it in Iraq and Syria, including the first official announcement of the campaign and after different countries, e.g. the UK, joined the strikes.
This time, Kassig's murder is revealed days after US General Martin Dempsey stated to international media that significant progress was being made in the fight against ISIS, and that while it could take years, ISIS has begun to suffer strategic losses.
It also surfaces hours after news broke that the infamous 'Jihadi John,' rumored to be the man behind the murders, may have been killed in airstrikes overnight.
