"Nel 1969 la lotta sociale si inasprisce raggiungendo livelli di estrema acutezza. Il governo Rumor è completamente impreparato ad affrontare una simile situazione. Il 1969 infatti è un anno costellato di attentati dinamitardi volti a suscitare turbamento, sfiducia nel regime politico, desiderio di un “governo forte” di destra. Nell’autunno, il cosiddetto “autunno caldo”, la situazione diventa sempre più tesa. Il 12 dicembre i neofascisti, intenzionati a determinare nel paese una situazione di panico tale da portare alla formazione di un governo autoritario, con l’appoggio dei servizi segreti dei colonnelli greci, con la complicità degli stessi servizi segreti italiani e con il sostegno di uomini politici conservatori ansiosi di mettere fine al “disordine sociale”, puntano alla strage. Un bomba ad alto potenziale collocata nella Banca dell’Agricoltura di Milano, in Piazza Fontana, provoca la morte di sedici persone ed il ferimento di altre novanta. Anche a Roma, lo stesso giorno, vi sono attentati e feriti. Il disegno è chiaro: mettere in atto una “strategia della tensione” basata sugli effetti dell’azione terroristica e finalizzata ad un colpo di Stato politicamente dominato dalla Destra. "

12 dicembre 1969, un ordigno contenente sette chili di tritolo esplode alle 16,37, nella sede della Banca Nazionale dell’Agricoltura, in piazza Fontana, a Milano. Il bilancio delle vittime è di 16 morti e 87 feriti.
Nei giorni successivi alla strage, solo a Milano, sono 84 le persone fermate tra anarchici, militanti di estrema sinistra e due appartenenti a formazioni di destra.
Il primo ad essere convocato è il ferroviere anarchico Giuseppe Pinelli, chiamato in questura lo stesso giorno dell’esplosione. Dopo tre giorni di interrogatorio non viene contestata, a Pinelli, nessuna imputazione eppure non viene comunque rilasciato. Ad interrogarlo è il commissario Calabresi il quale guida l’inchiesta sulla strage.
15 dicembre 1969, tre giorni dopo l’arresto, Pinelli muore precipitando dalla finestra della Questura. La versione ufficiale parla di suicidio, ma i quattro poliziotti e il capitano dei carabinieri Lo Grano, presenti nella stanza dell’interrogatorio al momento della morte del ferroviere, saranno oggetto di un’inchiesta per omicidio colposo. Verrà poi aperto nei loro confronti un procedimento penale per omicidio volontario. Nei confronti del Commissario calabresi, che non si trovava nella stanza ,si procederà per omicidio colposo. Tutti gli imputati verranno poi prosciolti nel 1975, perché "il fatto non sussiste".
Intanto gli inquirenti continuano a seguire la pista anarchica.

The Piazza Fontana Bombing (Italian: Strage di Piazza Fontana) was a terrorist attack that occurred on 12 December 1969 when a bomb exploded at the headquarters of Banca Nazionale dell'Agricoltura (National Agrarian Bank) in Piazza Fontana (some 200 metres from the Duomo) in Milan, Italy, killing 17 people and wounding 88. The same afternoon, three more bombs were detonated in Rome and Milan, and another was found unexploded.
Piazza Fontana
On 25 April 1969 a bomb exploded at the Fiat booth at a Milan trade fair, in which five people were injured. There was also a bomb discovered at the city's central station. The explosion at Piazza Fortuno was not the first, but part of a well-coordinated series of attacks.

12 dicembre 1969, un ordigno contenente sette chili di tritolo esplode alle 16,37, nella sede della Banca Nazionale dell’Agricoltura, in piazza Fontana, a Milano. Il bilancio delle vittime è di 16 morti e 87 feriti.
Nei giorni successivi alla strage, solo a Milano, sono 84 le persone fermate tra anarchici, militanti di estrema sinistra e due appartenenti a formazioni di destra.
Il primo ad essere convocato è il ferroviere anarchico Giuseppe Pinelli, chiamato in questura lo stesso giorno dell’esplosione. Dopo tre giorni di interrogatorio non viene contestata, a Pinelli, nessuna imputazione eppure non viene comunque rilasciato. Ad interrogarlo è il commissario Calabresi il quale guida l’inchiesta sulla strage.
15 dicembre 1969, tre giorni dopo l’arresto, Pinelli muore precipitando dalla finestra della Questura. La versione ufficiale parla di suicidio, ma i quattro poliziotti e il capitano dei carabinieri Lo Grano, presenti nella stanza dell’interrogatorio al momento della morte del ferroviere, saranno oggetto di un’inchiesta per omicidio colposo. Verrà poi aperto nei loro confronti un procedimento penale per omicidio volontario. Nei confronti del Commissario calabresi, che non si trovava nella stanza ,si procederà per omicidio colposo. Tutti gli imputati verranno poi prosciolti nel 1975, perché "il fatto non sussiste".
Intanto gli inquirenti continuano a seguire la pista anarchica.

Formed in 1970, the organization sought to create a "revolutionary" state through armed struggle, and to remove Italy from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. The Red Brigades attained notoriety in the 1970s and early 1980s with their violent attempts to destabilise Italy by acts of sabotage, bank robberies, and kidnappings.
Models for the Red Brigades included the Latin American urban guerrilla movements. Volumes on the Tupamaros published by Feltrinelli were influential", a sort of do-it-yourself manual for the early Red Brigades" and also the Italian partisan movement of 1943–45 which was interpreted as an example of a youthful minority using violent means for just ends.
