MARTINIQUE, FRENCH ANTILLES - Travel Vlog with ALL top 10 sights in 4K - English
Martinique is part of Caribbean France, also known as the French Antilles. The island is especially popular with French tourists, but actually a great destination for Europeans or Americans. Martinique is definitely worth it, especially because flying to this island is not very expensive from Paris, LA, London or Amsterdam. What is there to do? Amazing beaches, waterfalls, a special botanical garden and endless tropical rainforest! Watch the video and see how we start a trip through the Caribbean in Martinique.

Martinique - France in the Carribean
The island of Martinique is a piece of France in the Caribbean, between Florida and South America. And of course, Savoir-vivre applies just as it does on the other side of the Atlantic, between the English Channel and the Mediterranean.
Jacky Pascault is the first and only man to cultivate mushrooms in the Caribbean. Everywhere else, they grow on artificially fertilised soil, but Jacky's Champignons Tropicaux flourish on sugar cane fibres.
Nicole Vilo tailors hats and dresses out of coconut palms. Of course, the catwalk for the models wearing her first collection is one of the countless dream beaches. Martinique, A Tour Of The Island.
A visit of the the French island of Martinique 280 miles off the coast of Venezuela. The tropical island is a paradise of many different climates and many sights. Beautiful palm tree lined beaches, lush vegetation in the jungle, spectacular sunsets on the West side and Montagne Pelée, a dormant volcano are just some of the rich attractions of this South Caribbean gem.
My trip takes you to many of the coastal towns as well as a drive in the center of the island through rain drenched wild jungle roads to the banana plantations in the North. Iguanas and lizards are part of the trip a well as beautiful flowers that bloom all year long. Martinique also boasts quite a number of beautiful churches, many dating to the 17th century. One particularity of these churches is that the woodwork beneath t...

The Martiniquais sail on boats they call Yole, which have no keel and are therefore difficult to navigate. The crew members hang over the water in breakneck fashion on long wooden poles. Just the job for Yole-boss Max' "problem kids": they not only learn complicated handling, but also team spirit.

One particularity of these churches is that the woodwork beneath the roofs are in the shape of upside down ship hulls, as they were built by naval carpenters.
Martinique is a French overseas territory of 1,128 square kilometers (436 sq miles) with a population of 385,551 inhabitants.

The History of The Seven Years War
The Seven Years' War (1756–1763) is widely considered to be the first global conflict in history, and was a struggle for world supremacy between Great Britain and France. In Europe, the conflict arose from issues left unresolved by the War of the Austrian Succession (1740–1748), with Prussia seeking greater dominance. In Europe, the war broke out over territorial disputes between Prussia and Austria, which wanted to regain Silesia after it was captured by Prussia in the previous war. Anglo-French conflict over their colonies in North America had begun in 1754 in what became known in the United States as the French and Indian War, a nine-year war that ended France's presence as a land power.

The History of The Siege of Quebeq 1760
The Siege of Quebec, also known as the Second Siege of Quebec, was an unsuccessful French attempt to retake Quebec City in New France which had been captured by Britain the previous year. The siege lasted from 29 April until 15 May when British ships arrived to relieve the city which compelled the French commander Francis de Gaston, Chevalier de Lévis to break off the siege and retreat. The British capture of Montreal a few months later largely ended French resistance and completed the Conquest of Canada, which was confirmed by the Treaty of Paris.

How did Europeans immigrate to the Americas? | Past to Future
This video presents the European exploration and colonization of the Americas.
In 1492, while on expeditions to find new trade routes from Europe to Asia, Christopher Columbus, an Italian explorer, accidentally discovered a “New World” that possessed all the natural wealth which the Europeans sought so eagerly.
With great deposits of gold and other minerals as well as vast plains, valleys and mountains, this new land was viewed by the Europeans as an enormous wilderness area with great economic potential, and thus became the land of dreams for those who were longing for resources and wealth.
The first European country to conquer and colonize the New World was Spain. By 1512, the larger Caribbean islands were occupied by the Spanish, with the first Spanish town established on the island of Hispaniola, and Santo Domingo becoming the first capital of Spain’s New World possessions. Other areas then settled by the Spanish were Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Jamaica. Spanish conquistadors then sailed from the island harbors to explore the coasts and penetrate the continents. After all, Spain possessed the largest land area of the colonial empires in the New World, including several islands in the West Indies, all of Mexico, most of Central America; most of South America, and what are now Florida, California, and the U.S. Southwest.
England also took part in the exploration and colonization of the Americas, and their most significant establishment proved to be the 13 colonies along North America’s Atlantic coastline. Following the success of the Jamestown and Plymouth Colonies, the English gradually established colonies in the region that became known as New England. Massachusetts Bay, another settlement established in 1629, was the landing place of the Mayflower and the Pilgrims. As Massachusetts prospered and expanded, the settlers sought the new colonies in New England.
New Hampshire was another piece of New England to be formed in 1632. Connecticut and Rhode Island were formed in 1635 and 1636 respectively for people to have the opportunity to live and worship in accordance with their beliefs. Today, New England also includes Maine and Vermont. In the Middle Colonies, New York was originally colonized by the Dutch in 1626 with the name New Netherland, but then became an English colony in 1664. This colony also included the first permanent settlement in New Jersey.
Delaware, as part of the Swedish colony in New Sweden, was founded in 1638, and then became an English colony in 1664. In 1680, the Quakers settled Pennsylvania, forming the last piece of the Middle Colonies. In the Southern Colonies, the English settled Maryland to the north of Virginia in 1634 and Carolina in 1653 (later split into North Carolina and South Carolina in 1729). Georgia colony was established in 1732 as a buffer zone between the British colonies and Spanish settlements in Florida. By the 17th century, the English had taken the lead in colonizing North America with the formation of 13 colonies, which later became the 13 original states of the United States of America.
France, one of the two northern Atlantic kingdoms besides England, began sending ships to explore and colonize the Americas in the 17th century. In North America, France established a large colony called New France. Seeing the potential for fur trading, the founder of Quebec in 1608, Samuel de Champlain, attempted to explore the region and to build up the French fur trade with the help of the Huron Indians. Three years later, he established the beginning of a settlement on Huron island, which is today the site of Montreal.
In 1682, René-Robert Cavelier - the most famous of all the explorers - had his expedition descended the Mississippi River from the Illinois Territory to the Gulf of Mexico, and later claimed the entire territory for France. Many other French permanent settlements in North America were founded including Detroit, St. Louis, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans. Down to the Caribbean islands and South America, by 1664, France controlled 14 islands in the Caribbean, with the principal possessions including St-Domingue (now Haiti), Martinique, Guadeloupe, and Dominica.
On the northeast coast of South America, after numerous changes in control alternating between France, Britain, the Dutch, the Netherlands and Portugal, the colony of French Guiana was finally confirmed as French in 1817.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

The Seven Years' War was a global conflict fought between 1756 and 1763. It involved every European great power of the time and spanned five continents, affecting Europe, the Americas, West Africa, India, and the Philippines. The conflict split Europe into two coalitions, led by the Kingdom of Great Britain (including the Kingdom of Prussia, the Kingdom of Portugal, the Electorate of Brunswick-Lüneburg, and other small German states) on one side and the Kingdom of France (including the Austrian-led Holy Roman Empire), the Russian Empire (until 1762), the Kingdom of Spain, and the Swedish Empire on the other. Meanwhile, in India, some regional polities within the increasingly fragmented Mughal Empire, with the support of the French, tried to crush a British attempt to conquer Bengal. The war's extent has led some historians to describe it as "World War Zero", similar in scale to other world wars.Although Anglo-French skirmishes over their American colonies had begun with what became the French and Indian War in 1754, the large-scale conflict that drew in most of the European powers was centered on Austria's desire to recover Silesia from the Prussians. Seeing the opportunity to curtail Britain's and Prussia's ever-growing might, France and Austria put aside their ancient rivalry to form a grand coalition of their own, bringing most of the other European powers to their side. Faced with this sudden turn of events, Britain aligned itself with Prussia, in a series of political manoeuvres known as the Diplomatic Revolution. However, French efforts ended in failure when the Anglo-Prussian coalition prevailed, and Britain's rise as among the world's predominant powers destroyed France's supremacy in Europe, thus altering the European balance of power.

Every Country England Has Ever Invaded: Visualized!
Everybody knows that the British empire was once the biggest empire in human history. Invading, conquesting and then maintaining their rule over a quarter of the world's countries at the same time. While this may seem astounding, if you include all the countries they actually invaded, the result is even more impressive!

Jesuits in Martinique: the first act of drama in 1789
Following a celebrated trial, in 1767 the Jesuits were banished from France under same farfetched pretences, just as they had been previously ousted from England, Portugal, and Spain.
Reductions were eliminated everywhere, and Indians were turned into slaves.
The Catholic Church lost its army, the monarchy was deprived of allies, while France lost the support of the Christian faith right at the time it particularly needed it.

HMS Levant (1758)
HMS Levant was a 28-gun sixth-rate frigate of the Coventry class, which saw Royal Navy service against France in the Seven Years' War, and against France, Spain and the American colonies during the American Revolutionary War. Principally a hunter of privateers, she was also designed to be a match for small French frigates, but with a broader hull and sturdier build at the expense of some speed and manoeuvrability. Launched in 1758, Levant was assigned to the Royal Navy's Jamaica station from 1759 and proved her worth by defeating nine French vessels during her first three years at sea. She was also part of the British expedition against Martinique in 1762 but played no role in the landings or subsequent defeat of French forces at Fort Royal.

Quick recap 117 countries have been attacked by Britain in history
Quick recap 117 countries have been #attacked by #Britain in #history.
Hello friends! Every day with us, learn a little more knowledge. The British Empire is often referred to as "the empire of the sun never sets". So in the past, which countries and territories did Britain invade? We will find out together.
We'll start with the continent closest to England, which is Europe. Historically, the most favorite place of British invasion was France. Perhaps France has been invaded by the British more times than any other country in the world. Beginning in 1076 and ending in 1815, about a third of this time the British controlled and governed all of France.
Neighboring Ireland, This was also the first British target of conquest, and was invaded in 1169. And They were ruled for over 700 years, unt...

1. Martinique is an insular region of France located in the Lesser Antilles of the West Indies in the eastern Caribbean Sea, with a land area of 1,128 square kilometres and a population of 385,551 inhabitants as of January 2013. Like Guadeloupe, it is an overseas region of France. The inhabitants of Martinique are French citizens with full political and legal rights.
2. On 15 September 1635, Pierre Belain d'Esnambuc, French governor of the island of St. Kitts, landed in the harbor of St. Pierre with 150 French settlers after being driven off St. Kitts by the English. D'Esnambuc claimed Martinique for the French King Louis XIII and the French "Compagnie des Îles de l'Amérique" (Company of the American Islands), and established the first European settlement at Fort Saint-Pierre (now St. Pierre). D'Esnambuc died in 1636, leaving the company and Martinique in the hands of his nephew, Jacques Dyel du Parquet, who in 1637, became governor of the island. In 1636, the indigenous Caribs rose against the settlers to drive them off the island in the first of many skirmishes. The French successfully repelled the natives and forced them to retreat to the eastern part of the island, on the Caravelle Peninsula in the region then known as the Capesterre. When the Carib revolted against French rule in 1658, the Governor Charles Houël du Petit Pré retaliated with war against them. Many were killed; those who survived were taken captive and expelled from the island. Some Carib had fled to Dominica or St. Vincent, where the French agreed to leave them at peace.
3. On 8 May 1902, Mont Pelée erupted and completely destroyed St. Pierre, killing 30,000 people. Due to the eruption refugees from Martinique arrived in boats to the southern villages of Dominica with some remaining permanently on the island. In Martinique the only survivor in the town of Saint-Pierre, Auguste Cyparis, was saved by the thick walls of his prison cell.
4. Fort-de-France is the capital of France's Caribbean overseas department of Martinique. It is also one of the major cities in the Caribbean. At the turn of the 20th century, however, Fort-de-France became economically important after the volcanic eruption of Mount Pelée destroyed the town of Saint-Pierre in 1902. Until 1918, when its commercial growth began, Fort-de-France had an inadequate water supply, was partly surrounded by swamps, and was notorious for yellow fever. Now the swamps are drained to make room for extensive suburbs.
5. During WWII, the Vichy government controlled Martinique and Guadeloupe. German U-boats used Martinique for refueling and re-supply during the Battle of the Caribbean. In 1942, 182 ships were sunk in the Caribbean, dropping to 45 in 1943, and 5 in 1944. Free French forces took over on the island on Bastille Day, 14 July 1943.
6. If you visit Martinique, you will be amazed with condition in the country. It presents the France of the Caribbean. You can enjoy the sunny beaches, comfortable resorts, hotels, cuisines and language with French influence. Martinique is great gateway for the people who want to have honeymoon or summer vacation. You can enjoy the local dishes, traditional dance, music, and cultural heritage.
7. The official language is French, which is spoken by virtually the entire population. In addition, most residents can also speak Martiniquan Creole, a form of Antillean Creole based on French, Carib and African languages with elements of English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

HMS Levant was a 28-gun sixth-rate frigate of the Coventry class, which saw Royal Navy service against France in the Seven Years' War, and against France, Spain and the American colonies during the
American Revolutionary War.

And They were ruled for over 700 years, until the British left in 1921, after signing the Anglo-Irish Treaty.

SUMMARY
=======

SUMMARY
=======

Suggested by you, I react to "Every Country England Has Invaded: Visualized". Very interesting video. The British Empire controlled 1/4 of the world at one point. Watching this video, it seems that the British have invaded perhaps 1/3 of the world. I was blown away. ENJOY!
