Water Awareness Day
On Wednesday Dec 2, 2009, the Water for Waslala Student Group at Villanova University hosted "Water Awareness Day." This event focused attention on the international water crisis that affects over 1.1 billion people across the globe, including 25000 in the impoverished region of Waslala, Nicaragua. The student group worked to increase awareness with advertisements and signs in the dorms, around campus, and in the dining halls. There was a letter writing campaign for the Water for the World Act. Also, several people participated in the "Solidarity Tank" by servicing all their water needs for the day from a central water station. The event culminated with a viewing of the Water for Waslala documentary. The student group will be hosting the annual Walk for Water on April 11th, 2010. www.waterforwaslala.org
