Peter Jay Sweeney (1863-1901) was a third baseman in Major League Baseball in the 19th century. His professional career stretched from 1879 through 1897, though only 1888-1890 were spent in the Major Leagues.

Peter Henry Sweeney (born 25 September 1984 in Glasgow) is a Scottish professional football midfielder who currently plays for Football League One side Bury.

He has previously played for Millwall, Stoke City, Yeovil Town, Walsall, Leeds United and Grimsby Town.

Sweeney started his career at Millwall, where he made his debut in 2002, but he had to wait another year for his big breakthrough. He ultimately played a major role in the Lions' route to the final of the FA Cup, where he started against Manchester United at the Millennium Stadium. During his time at Millwall Sweeney won six caps for Scotland at Under-21 level and two caps at England School Boys level. Following the cup final appearance, Millwall received a place in the UEFA Cup for the 2004-2005 season, in which Sweeney played a part in the first round of the tournament, where they were defeated.

On 1 July 2005 Sweeney signed for Stoke City for £250,000, but his debut match against Newcastle Town was ruined as he got injured early into the game and was out for three months. On 31 January 2007 (transfer deadline day) Sweeney joined Yeovil Town on loan and returned to Stoke at the end of March at his request.

Peter "Pete" Tong (born July 30, 1960) is an English DJ who works for BBC Radio 1. He is the host of programmes such as Essential Mix and Essential Selection on the radio service, which can be heard through Internet radio streams, for his record label FFRR Records, and for his own performances at nightclubs and music festivals. Tong has worked as a record producer and is known by the nickname of Lord of the Dance.

The phrase "It's all gone Pete Tong", where the name is used as rhyming slang for "wrong", was reputedly first coined by Paul Oakenfold in late 1987 in an article about acid house called "Bermondsey Goes Balearic" for Terry Farley and Pete Heller's Boys Own fanzine. It's All Gone Pete Tong is also the title of a 2004 film which portrays a fictional DJ's experiences as he realizes he is becoming deaf. Tong appears briefly in the film. It is also the name Tong has adopted for his club night at the nightclub Pacha in Ibiza.

In 2008 he was involved with the founding of the International Music Summit in Ibiza.

Sweeney Todd is a fictional character who first appeared as the murderer of the Victorian penny dreadful The String of Pearls (1846–1847) and he was later introduced as an antihero of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and its film adaptations. Claims that Sweeney Todd was a historical person are strongly disputed by scholars, although there are possible legendary prototypes.

In the original version of the tale, Todd is a barber who dispatches his victims by pulling a lever while they are in his barber chair, which makes them fall backward down a revolving trapdoor into the basement of his shop, generally causing them to break their necks or skulls. Just in case they are alive, he goes to the basement and "polishes them off" (slitting their throats with his straight razor). In some adaptations, the murdering process is reversed, with Todd slitting the throats of his customers before they are dispatched into the basement via the revolving trapdoor. After Todd has robbed his dead victims of their goods, Mrs. Lovett, his partner in crime (in some later versions, his friend and/or lover), assists him in disposing of the bodies by baking their flesh into meat pies, and selling them to the unsuspecting customers of her pie shop. Todd's barber shop is situated at 186 Fleet Street, London, next to St. Dunstan's church, and is connected to Mrs. Lovett's pie shop in nearby Bell Yard by means of an underground passage. In most versions of the story, he and Mrs. Lovett hire an unwitting orphan boy, Tobias Ragg, to serve the pies to customers.
