Ollie Sloan, born Oliver Luke Sloan, is a British recording artist based in Buckinghamshire who has been writing his own music and performing this work from the age of eleven.
The initial recordings he made featured just him singing and playing piano, but has since introduced full band songs. He also plays guitar in some songs accompanied by Jim Hewins on Bass guitar and Marco Pasquariello playing the drums. His music incorporates a very light, mellow, tone. His influences include James Morrison, Tracy Chapman, the Beach Boys and James Taylor.
His initial success lay only in the thousands of hits he had from the music he uploaded onto internet music sites. However, Sloan's popularity rocketed after two of his most popular tracks, one of which was "Friends are Family", were used as instrumental music on BBC1's hospital drama Holby City.
In November 2007 and March 2008, 'Friends are Family' and 'Memories' (respectively) were aired during Holby City episodes, and since then both songs have become available to download on iTunes. At this point, Sloan was unsigned but Radio 1 presenter, Jo Whiley, who played Sloan's track on air in November, claimed, "I suspect that won't be for long."[citation needed]
B-boying or breaking, often called "breakdancing", is a style of street dance that originated as a part of hip-hop culture among African American and Latino youths in New York City during the early 1970s. Fast to gain popularity in the media, the dance style also gained popularity worldwide especially in South Korea, France, Russia, Japan, and Brazil. While extremely diverse in the amount of variation available in the dance, b-boying consists of four primary elements: toprock, downrock, power moves, and freezes. B-boying is typically danced to hip-hop and especially breakbeats, although modern trends allow for much wider varieties of music along certain ranges of tempo and beat patterns.
A practitioner of this dance is called a b-boy, b-girl, or breaker. Although the term "breakdance" is frequently used to refer to the dance, "b-boying" and "breaking" are the original terms. These terms are preferred by the majority of the art form’s pioneers and most notable practitioners.
The terminology used to refer to b-boying changed after promotion by the mainstream media. Although widespread, the term "breakdancing" is looked down upon by those immersed in hip-hop culture. Purists consider "breakdancing" an ignorant term invented by the media that connotes exploitation of the art and is used to sensationalize breaking. The term "breakdancing" is also problematic because it has become a diluted umbrella term that incorrectly includes popping, locking, and electric boogaloo. Popping, locking, and electric boogaloo are not styles of "breakdance". They are funk styles that were developed separately from breaking in California. The dance itself is properly called "breaking" according to rappers such as KRS-One, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, and Darryl McDaniels of Run-DMC.
Luj Yaj is a popular Hmong singer from Thailand. He is considered to be one of the most well known of Hmong singers to date. He gained notoriety when two of his songs appeared in a Hmong dubbed Thai film called "Kev Hlub Txiav Tsis Tau". Those two songs were "Nco Koj Ib Leeg" (Miss You Only), which later became known to many under the title of "Nco Kuv Me Me" (Miss Me A Little), and "Nyob Ib Leeg" (Living Alone). "Nco Koj Ib Leeg" and "Nyob Ib Leeg" are his most famous works, and still remain popular among the Hmong youth in America.
He has also star in a lot of movies like "Vim Tseg Ib Los Lug" and many more, and was the first hmong singer from Thailand to had ever had come to The United States.
S.T. Universal Video introduced Luj Yaj to the Hmong entertainment industry in the early 1990s. The production company is also credited for introducing Tsam Mim Xyooj, Pov Thoj, Maiv Muas, and other well-known artists in the mid-1990s. A decade later, corruption overthrows the S.T. Universal Video company, leaving many of its stars with other Hmong production companies.
La conciencia y no he podido ver
Que la distancia es corta pero este
Viaje la empieza a extender
Oasis Puerto Rico la hace
Oasis aqui esta nuestra base
Oasis es aqui donde nace el
Sonido de futuro para una nueva fase
Oasis Puerto Rico la hace
Oasis aqui esta nuestra base
Oasis es aqui donde nace el
Sonido de futuro para una nueva fase
I have been doing time all this time throughout the dry lands
Looking for a path that was already written in my hand
Because what goes around must come back around
To the first place it was found
Borinquen my friend is where it's at
And my beat will always tell you that
Oasis Puerto Rico la hace
Oasis aqui esta nuestra base
Oasis es aqui donde nace el
Sonido de futuro para una nueva fase
Oasis Puerto Rico la hace
Oasis aqui esta nuestra base
Oasis es aqui donde nace el
Uh huh uh huh she meant nothing to me just another one night stand
She was easy as pie and I had her eating out of my hand
Had her eating out of my hand
She was easy to touch smiling as I came on strong
She was easy as pie and I knew it wouldn't take me too long
Knew it wouldn't take me too long
Now here comes morning and my way of thinking has changed
Oh she came on so tender but look who surrender
When the lady wasn't playing no games
Now I'm easy as pie the lady had herself a plan
And it's easy to see that she's got me eating out of her hand
[ steel ]
Now I'm easy as pie...
Father where are you now
You let me drown
How could you forsake me?
Oh God please hear me now
I'm going down
No way to believe

Why me, I'm just one seed
Left out to bleed
I'm bound for hell you see
With all that surrounds me
Well it reeks of insanity, Oh Lord

No doubt, I know I'll break
Help me to escape
Tell me I'm saved
I'm just a man in my grave
