VICE News Exclusive: Part 1 of "The Fight Against Ebola" - http://bit.ly/Ebola-Part-1 West Africa is being plagued by a new outbreak of Ebola — a terrifying disease that causes its victims to bleed to death from the inside out. Ebola has no cure, and the latest epidemic is spreading fast. VICE News visited Liberia, where many feel the new outbreak began, borne from the bushmeat markets of Lofa. Western scientists feel that the consumption and preparation of meat from monkeys, fruit bats, and other forest animals is behind the transmission of Ebola, and possibly a new supervirus, which if left uncontrolled could kill a third of the world's population. Breaking the Silence: The secrets of the labour camps being revealed by a UN inquiry into North Korean human rights abuses. For downloads and more information visit: http://www.journeyman.tv/?lid=66296&bid;=2 The stories of secret labour camps have long contradicted North Korea's displays of national unity. Now for the first time ever, a UN inquiry on human rights abuses hears the stories it doesn't want told. "In North Korea anyone who enters a prison is regarded as an animal", testifies Kim Song Ju, a labour camp survivor. NK denies their existence but satellite images and extremely rare footage of prisoners in a desolate landscape prove otherwise. Testimonies of defectors add horrifying detail to the picture of life and death. "In one corner of the train station there was always a pile of dead bodies", recalls former soldier Kim Joo-Il. "Many people died of starvation and were just left there." Having escaped the regime he now publishes a newspaper countering Pyongyang propaganda. Another witness at the Inquiry, who was sold into marriage in China by human traffickers only to be sent to a labour camp, believes that speaking out about the crimes "is the only way human rights in North Korea will improve". War and Peace: Iran's Nuclear Program (2009) - The story of Iran's nuclear program told from the other side. For downloads and more information visit: http://www.journeyman.tv/?lid=67124&bid;=2 Under pressure from finite fossil fuel reserves and scrutiny from the West, Iran's Nuclear program has had a difficult road. This is the story of Iranian nuclear energy told from the other side. "Iran has tried its best to have a pragmatic approach, not an ambitious approach", claims the country's ambassador to the IAEA, Ali Asghar Soltanieh. But are all such claims destined to fall on deaf ears? A climate of suspicion and hostility has historically smothered any meaningful discussion of Iran's right to nuclear technologies. The West accuse Iran of creating a 'confidence deficit' by pursuing a clandestine programme of enrichment; Iran sense hypocrisy, and claim to be singled out. "There are similar cases with Taiwan, with Egypt, with Brazil, and all of these countries get away with it." Ultimately, all parties acknowledge that a system that enshrines the right of the powerful to bend the rules is unsustainable. "The whole of the non-proliferation regime has elements of double-standards built into it", concedes David Hannay, a member of the House of Lords. But will this consensus signal a move beyond the rhetoric to purposeful negotiation? "Iran has an opportunity to become the good boy of the world." French media on Monday reported that two Frenchmen were believed to be among a group of executioners in a new Islamic State group video that shows the beheading of US aid worker Peter Kassig and other victims said to be Syrian soldiers. The 15-minute video, released on Sunday by the Sunni Muslim extremist group waging war in large swaths of Syria and Iraq, showed a masked militant standing over the severed head of a man it said was Kassig, a former US Army Ranger-turned aid worker who was captured in Syria last year. It also featured a group of at least a dozen other prisoners who captors claimed were Syrian fighter pilots and army officers. In the video, each of the victims is being held by an unmasked, uniformed member of the Islamic State (IS) group, sometimes referred to as ISIS or ISIL.

Subscribe to VICE News here: http://bit.ly/Subscribe-to-VICE-News On August 8, nearly three years after the United States pulled out of Iraq, President Barack Obama ordered airstrikes to commence on Islamic State positions in northern Iraq, as the group’s fighters advanced towards the Kurdish capital of Erbil. For six weeks prior to the strikes the Islamic State made stunning gains within Iraq, effectively dismantling the border with Syria and defeating the Iraqi army with little in the way to stop them. In the final installment of VICE News’ unprecedented look inside the Islamic State, reporter Medyan Dairieh journeys 200 miles from the the group’s power base in the Syrian city of Raqqa to the border with Iraq. There, after defeating the Iraqi army manning the checkpoint, Islamic State fighters work further to bulldoze the border. As they clear apart a barrier that divided Iraq and Syria, Islamic State fighters declare an end of the Sykes-Picot Agreement, a nearly 100-year-old pact between France and Britain that divided up the Middle East. For now, that area between Iraq and Syria is part of a new territory: the Islamic State. There is war in Iraq? Again? And the US and Iran are talking about working together? And who is this ISIS Terrorist group that is all over the news? And Religion? Oh dear... When exactly has the world gone mad again?

It is not possible to explain a complicated topic like this without simplification. We are very aware that this video is not painting a full picture of the situation. But we hope that it may lay the foundation on which you can try to do your own research and understand how horribly Fu**ed up the whole situation is.

We did have to produce the video super fast -- thanks a lot to our friends Martin Wackerbauer and Magnus Schlüter for helping us out -- we would not have been able to make this video in time without you guys!

Kurzgesagt loves all people as long as they don\'t hurt others and don\'t hinder mankind on its quest to the stars. So it was very sad to read so much terrible stuff about the situation in Iraq. Hopefully it will get better.

Dutch authorities have confirmed the bird flu identified at a poultry farm is the highly contagious H5N8 strain, detected in Europe less than two weeks ago.

A massive cull of 150,000 chickens has been ordered, and transport of all poultry throughout the country has been banned for 30 days.

The virus was first detected at a farm in the village of Henkendorp, 65 kilometres south of Amsterdam on Saturday, and matches the strain found at a farm in north-east Germany on November 4th.

Japan, the world\'s third-largest economy, has unexpectedly slid into recession.

This comes after a rise in the national sales tax from five percent to eight percent resulted in reduced consumer spending.

The tax hike was part of a plan to curb Japan\'s huge public debt, the worst among advanced nations.

Japanese Economy Minister Akira Amari said the April sales tax hike had made it harder than anticipated for the public to shake off their deflationary mindset.

French media on Monday reported that two Frenchmen were believed to be among a group of executioners in a new Islamic State group video that shows the beheading of US aid worker Peter Kassig and other victims said to be Syrian soldiers.

On August 8, nearly three years after the United States pulled out of Iraq, President Barack Obama ordered airstrikes to commence on Islamic State positions in northern Iraq, as the group’s fighters advanced towards the Kurdish capital of Erbil.
