Welfare is the provision of a minimal level of wellbeing and social support for all citizens. In most developed countries, welfare is largely provided by the government, in addition to charities, informal social groups, religious groups, and inter-governmental organizations. In the end, this term replaces "charity" as it was known for thousands of years, being the voluntary act of providing for those who temporarily or permanently could not provide for themselves.
Welfare can take a variety of forms, such as monetary payments, subsidies and vouchers, or housing. Welfare can be provided by governments, non-governmental organizations, or a combination of the two. Welfare programs may be funded directly by governments, or in social insurance models, by the members of the Welfare scheme.
Welfare systems differ from country to country, but Welfare is commonly provided to individuals who are unemployed, those with illness or disability, the elderly, those with dependent children, and veterans. A person's eligibility for Welfare may also be constrained by means testing or other conditions.

Jon Stewart (born Jonathan Stuart Leibowitz; November 28, 1962) is an American political satirist, writer, television host, actor, media critic and stand-up comedian. He is widely known as host of The Daily Show, a satirical news program that airs on Comedy Central.
Stewart started as a stand-up comedian, but branched into television as host of Short Attention Span Theater for Comedy Central. He went on to host his own show on MTV, called The Jon Stewart Show, and then hosted another show on MTV called You Wrote It, You Watch It. He has also had several film roles as an actor. Stewart became the host of The Daily Show on Comedy Central in early 1999. He is also a writer and co-executive-producer of the show. After Stewart joined, The Daily Show steadily gained popularity and critical acclaim, resulting in his sixteen Emmy Awards.
Stewart has gained acclaim as an acerbic, satirical critic of personality-driven media shows, in particular those of the US media networks such as CNN, Fox News Channel, and MSNBC. Critics say Stewart benefits from a double standard: he critiques other news shows from the safe, removed position of his "fake news" desk. Stewart agrees, saying that neither his show nor his channel purports to be anything other than satire and comedy. In spite of its self-professed entertainment mandate, The Daily Show has been nominated for news and journalism awards. Stewart hosted the 78th and 80th Academy Awards. He is the co-author of America (The Book): A Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inaction, which was one of the best-selling books in the U.S. in 2004 and Earth (The Book): A Visitor's Guide to the Human Race released in 2010.

Milton Friedman (July 31, 1912 – November 16, 2006) was an American economist, statistician, and author who taught at the University of Chicago for more than three decades. He was a recipient of the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, and is known for his research on consumption analysis, monetary history and theory, and the complexity of stabilization policy. As a leader of the Chicago school of economics, he influenced the research agenda of the economics profession. A survey of economists ranked Friedman as the second most popular economist of the twentieth century behind John Maynard Keynes, and The Economist described him as "the most influential economist of the second half of the 20th century…possibly of all of it."
Friedman's challenges to what he later called "naive Keynesian" (as opposed to New Keynesian) theory began with his 1950s reinterpretation of the consumption function, and he became the main advocate opposing activist Keynesian government policies. In the late 1960s he described his own approach (along with all of mainstream economics) as using "Keynesian language and apparatus" yet rejecting its "initial" conclusions. During the 1960s he promoted an alternative macroeconomic policy known as "monetarism". He theorized there existed a "natural" rate of unemployment, and argued that governments could increase employment above this rate (e.g., by increasing aggregate demand) only at the risk of causing inflation to accelerate. He argued that the Phillips curve was not stable and predicted what would come to be known as stagflation. Friedman argued that, given the existence of the Federal Reserve, a constant small expansion of the money supply was the only wise policy.

Jon Stewart loves to expose the hypocrisy and ludicrousness that characterize so many U.S. states, and in recent weeks, Kansas has made itself a prime target for the Daily Show host's ire.
The latest national embarrassment from the Sunflower State comes courtesy of Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback (R), who recently signed a bill eliminating the requirement that Kansans take eight hours of gun-safety training to qualify for a concealed-carry permit.
"The same state that believes eight hours of gun training is too much for its gun owners requires a thousand hours of training for its professional aesthetician," Stewart said, showing a certification document for the profession.
But Gov. Brownback isn't just creating a lawless paradise for trigger-happy vigilantes. He's also slashing welfare benefits, imposing harsh new requirements on poor people. As Stewart points out, Kansas' own dependence on federal aid money—taking in $1.29 for every $1 that its residents contribute in federal taxes—makes it something of a welfare queen itself.

Welfare queens are living high on the government hog, but Kansas is putting a stop to it by limiting a recipient can withdraw from an ATM. Ana Kasparian (The Point), Ben Mankiewicz (What The Flick?), and Jimmy Dore (The Jimmy Dore Show) hosts of The Young Turks discuss.
"Kansas is taking a storm of criticism over its new policy strictly limiting ATM withdrawals for welfare recipients to $25 a day.
The controversial limit was signed into law in April by Gov. Sam Brownback (R) as part of a broader reform bill. But the change was placed in stark reality by a Thursday article in The Washington Post titled "Kansas has found the ultimate way to punish the poor."
The law was meant to limit extravagant or unnecessary spending of taxpayer resources, and the legislation also barred the use of welfare funds at recreational locations like movie theaters, cruise ships, and swimming pools, according to McClatchy DC News.
However, the negative consequences for the state's welfare recipients seem clear."

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Vaccination and desexing of animals such as dogs are a common practice and considered completely routine in Australia. However, in developing communities where access to basic resources, funding and Veterinarian training are limited, animal welfare can prove to be a challenge. Charmaine shares the mental and physical struggles of addressing these challenges.
Charmaine has been highly engaged with the veterinary community since her graduation from the University of Melbourne in 2004. Her qualifications include the Bachelor of Veterinary Science with first-class honours, Bachelor of Animal Science in pain pharmacology research, ANZCVS Membership in Veterinary Pharmacology and Bachelor of Business Studies in management.
Charmaine is President of Vets Beyond Borders (VBB). She is also on the Australia and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists’ Chapter of Veterinary Pharmacology, and is on the committee of the Australian Veterinary Association’s Australian Vets in Industry special interest group.

SOCIAL WELFARE - TRAINING ON SOCIAL RESCUE OPENEDSOCIAL WELFARE - TRAINING ON SOCIAL RESCUE OPENED
Training on social rescue and disaster reduction for volunteers in northern, southern and western districts in Yangon kicked off Saturday. The event was spearheaded by the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement. 60 Trainees are attending the training from 23rd to 25th of May. The event also donated to social and charitable organizations and 19 senior citizens who are over 100 years of age. -

I was stunned by this radio interview with an ordained representative of the Holy Roman Catholic Church.
I post this as an exemplar of the real harm that religion does to the minds of modern humans, resulting in such suffering. I include the mind of Catholic priest Fr Gearoid O Donchu in this.
Listen to a Catholic Priest say he would not report a child abuser to the authorities just because he was told in a box.
Not only that, he would grant "absolution" so the religious rapist could sleep at night confident in the belief he is going to heaven if he dies before his next rape outing.
This is prefaced by an almost psychotic "what if" scenario of the priest drinking poisoned wine despite knowing it was deadly.
AND letting others do the same.
How can the question posed by the original video even be a question in the minds of sane people ? It is:
"Should priests report child rape to the police if they hear about it in Confession?"

Training on social rescue and disaster reduction for volunteers in northern, southern and western districts in Yangon kicked off Saturday. The event was spearheaded by the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement. 60 Trainees are attending the training from 23rd to 25th of May. The event also donated to social and charitable organizations and 19 senior citizens who are over 100 years of age.

The latest national embarrassment from the Sunflower State comes courtesy of Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback (R), who recently signed a bill eliminating the requirement that Kansans take eight hours of gun-safety training to qualify for a concealed-carry permit. "The same state that believes eight hours of gun training is too much for its gun owners requires a thousand hours of training for its professional aesthetician," Stewart said, showing a certification document for the profession. But Gov. Brownback isn't just creating a lawless paradise for trigger-happy vigilantes. He's also slashing welfare benefits, imposing harsh new requirements on poor people. This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Vaccination and desexing of animals such as dogs are a common practice and considered completely routine in Australia. However, in developing communities where access to basic resources, funding and Veterinarian training are limited, animal welfare can prove to be a challenge. Charmaine shares the mental and physical struggles of addressing these challenges. Charmaine has been highly engaged with the veterinary community since her graduation from the University of Melbourne in 2004. Her qualifications include the Bachelor of Veterinary Science with first-class honours, Bachelor of Animal Science in pain pharmacology research, ANZCVS Membership in Veterinary Pharmacology and Bachelor of Business Studies in management. Charmaine is President of Vets Beyond Borders (VBB). She is also on the Australia and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists’ Chapter of Veterinary Pharmacology, and is on the committee of the Australian Veterinary Association’s Australian Vets in Industry special interest group. I was stunned by this radio interview with an ordained representative of the Holy Roman Catholic Church. I post this as an exemplar of the real harm that religion does to the minds of modern humans, resulting in such suffering. I include the mind of Catholic priest Fr Gearoid O Donchu in this. Listen to a Catholic Priest say he would not report a child abuser to the authorities just because he was told in a box. Not only that, he would grant "absolution" so the religious rapist could sleep at night confident in the belief he is going to heaven if he dies before his next rape outing. This is prefaced by an almost psychotic "what if" scenario of the priest drinking poisoned wine despite knowing it was deadly. AND letting others do the same. How can the question posed by the original video even be a question in the minds of sane people ? It is: "Should priests report child rape to the police if they hear about it in Confession?"
