A mosque is a place of worship for followers of Islam. The word entered English from a French word which probably derived from Italian moschea, a variant of Italian moscheta, from either Armenian mzkiṭ or Greek μασγίδιον, from Arabic masjid, meaning "place of worship" or "prostration in prayer", from the Arabic sajada, meaning "to bow down in prayer" or "worship", probably ultimately of Aramaic origin.
There are strict and detailed requirements in Sunni fiqh for a place of worship to be considered a masjid, with places that do not meet these requirements regarded as musallas. There are stringent restrictions on the uses of the area formally demarcated as the masjid (which is often a small portion of the larger complex), and, in the Sharia, after an area is formally designated as a masjid, it remains so until the Last Day.
The mosque serves as a place where Muslims can come together for salah (prayer) (Arabic: صلاة, ṣalāt) as well as a center for information, education, and dispute settlement. The imam leads the prayer.
Richard Claxton "Dick" Gregory (born October 12, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri) is an American comedian, social activist, social critic, writer, and entrepreneur.
Gregory is an influential American comic who has used his performance skills to convey to both white and black audiences his political message on civil rights. His social satire helped change the way white Americans perceived African American comedians since he first performed in public.
As a poor student who excelled at running, Gregory was aided by teachers at Sumner High School, among them Warren St. James. Gregory earned a track scholarship to Southern Illinois University Carbondale. There he set school records as a half-miler and miler. His college career was interrupted for two years in 1954 when he was drafted into the U.S. Army. The army was where he got his start in comedy, entering and winning several Army talent shows at the urging of his commanding officer, who had taken notice of Gregory's penchant for joking. In 1956, Gregory briefly returned to SIU after his discharge, but dropped out because he felt that the university "didn't want me to study, they wanted me to run".
Ahmed Hoosen Deedat (Arabic: احمد حسين ديدات; 1 July 1918 – 8 August 2005) was a South African writer and public speaker of Indian descent. He was best known as a Muslim missionary who held numerous inter-religious public debates with evangelical Christians, as well as video lectures, most of which centred around Islam, Christianity and the Bible. He also established the IPCI, an international Islamic missionary organisation, and wrote several booklets on Islam and Christianity which were widely distributed by the organisation. He was awarded the prestigious King Faisal International Prize in 1986 for his 50 years of missionary work. One focus of his work was providing Muslims with theological tools for defending themselves against active proselytising by Christian missionaries.[citation needed] He used English to get his message across to Muslims and non-Muslims in the western world.
Ahmed Deedat was born in the town of Tadkeshwar, Surat, Bombay Presidency, British India in 1918. His father had emigrated to South Africa shortly after the birth of Ahmed Deedat. At the age of 9, Deedat left India to join his father in what is now known as Kwazulu-Natal. His mother died only a few months after his departure. Arriving in South Africa, Deedat applied himself with diligence to his studies, overcoming the language barrier and excelling in school, even getting promoted until he completed standard 6. However, due to financial circumstances, he had to quit school and start working by the time he was the age of 16.
If eyes are the mirror of the soul
You will find in my the scorn and apathy
You will read my hatred as in a curs'd book
You will see yourself as I see you
It is a mirror sombre and opaque
Which protects me, which stifles me
A great ditch around the heart
Which rejects, which estranges me
There is a world in my head
A dead world where nothing lives
And it is there I am, too far,
Far too far to be rejoined
A crown of thorns is still a crown
I am a king in a kingdom of suffering
I have taken my time to reach this stage
I have taken pains to torture myself
To descend, to descend
Into pain, I exist
And I my brain is numbed
The thorn in my flesh
Can overcome apathy
There is glory in humiliation
A throne to be taken, a crown to win
I have no more tears,
And my smile has lost its brilliance
I have forgotten who I was,
I have killed my emotions
Crushed, empty, weary,
Always standing, I am a tree
Don't Rain on my Parade
by Bob Merrill and Jules Styne
Don't tell me not to fly, I've simply got to.
If someone takes a spill, it's me and not you.
Don't bring around a cloud to rain on my parade.
Don't tell me not to live, just sit and putter.
Life's candy and the sun's a ball of butter.
Who told you you're allowed to rain on my parade.
Chorus: I'll march my band out! I'll beat my drum!
And if I'm fanned out, your turn at bat, sir.
At least I didn't fake it. Hat, sir. I guess I didn't make it
But whether I'm the rose of sheer perfection,
Or a freckle on the nose of life's complexion,
The Cinderella or the shiny apple of it's eye.
I gotta fly once. I gotta try once.
Only can die once. Right, sir?
Ooh life is juicy. Juicy and you see
I gotta have my bite, sir.
Get ready for me love, 'cause I'm a "comer"
I simply gotta march, my heart's a drummer.
Don't bring around a cloud to rain on my parade.
I'm gonna live and live NOW!
Get what I want, I know how!
All that the law will allow!
One roll for the whole shebang!
One throw, that bell will go clang!
Tho' I'm alone I'm a gang! Eye on the target and wham!
One shot, one gun shot and bam!
Hey, Mr. Ornstein, here I am!
Chorus
Get ready for me life, 'cause I'm a 'comer'
I simply gotta march, my heart's a drummer.
(Red lights)
You had some trash-can-rock-band pounding
Oh I am not old
I'm told
but I am not young
Oh and nothing can be done
Don't start
my heart
is a smoking gun
Oh and nothing can be done
Must I surrender
with grace

(Sweetheart) it is due to you that my soul has swung so low
(Sweetheart) it is due to you
(Sweetheart) it has come the day that my song has flown away
(Sweetheart) it has come that day
Drive--the past like a highway / Drive--Stop at the halfway
Drive--see all the paths that I could have chosen
There are cars on fire and there is smoke on the road and...
There are cars on fire. Fire.
(Sweetheart) it is due to you that my soul has swung so low...
There's a magic in the early morning we've found
When the sunrise smiles on everything around
It's a portrait of the happiness that we feel and always will
Eight is enough to fill our lives with love
Oh we're lucky we can share this beautiful stage
So many find the world an empty place
Anyone who asks to stand alone is always standing still
And eight is enough to fill our lives with love
Oh love makes all the difference now
And one that really shows
Just look at everyone of us
See how it over flows
We spend our days like bright and shiny new dimes
If we're ever puzzled by the changing times
There's a plate of homemade wishes on the kitchen window sill
And eight is enoguh to fill our lives with love
The Cat Came Back
Old Mr. Johnson had problems of his own.
He had a yellow cat that just wouldn't leave him alone.
He tried and he tried to give the cat away.
He gave it to a little man going far away...
But the cat came back the very next day.
Yes, the cat came back. They thought he was gone,
But the cat came back. He just wouldn't stay away.
He gave it to a little boy with a dollar note.
He told the boy to take the cat up river on a boat.
The boat turned over and was never found,
And now they drag the river for the little boy who drowned...
But the cat came back the very next day.
Yes, the cat came back. They thought he was gone,
But the cat came back. He just wouldn't stay away.
The man around the corner said he'd shoot the cat on sight.
He loaded up his shotgun full of nails and dynamite.
He waited... and he waited... 'till the cat came walking round
And ninety-nine pieces of the man was all they found...
But the cat came back the very next day.
Yes, the cat came back. They thought he was gone,
But the cat came back. He just wouldn't stay away.
The H-bomb fell the very next day.
The A-bomb fell in the very same way.
Russia went! England went! And then the USA.
The entire human race was left without a chance to pray...
But the cat came back the very next day.
Yes, the cat came back. They thought he was gone,
Your criminal eyes, that see straight through
We criminalise - your kind of voodoo
Make me sell my soul for the easy life
Sell my mother, trade in my wife
Rough justice - alright - rough justice on the streets tonight
Rough justice - we're the chosen few
If you want to scream, if you want to fight
Better take it to the man with the big house - in white
It's rough justice
Your bleeding heart got a hold on me
Your criminal heart won't let me be
For finer feelings I didn't feel the need
When I'm dealing you'd better watch my speed
Get rough
Rough justice - alright
Rough justice - on the streets tonight
Rough justice - we're the chosen few
Rough justice - somebody loosened my screws
Vigilante man of the neighbourhood
Well I ain't like Doris Day, and I ain't no Robin Hood
It's rough justice
Your criminal eyes - don't cut no ice
We criminalise - don't take no outside advice
It's a real cruel life when you have to lose it
It's a heavy
It's rough justice - it's rough justice
It's rough justice...
Come on, come on
She was a waitress she looked real tine
The little temptress was so divine
A symphony of cheap perfume and pretty stale red wine
She can wait upon my table anytime
She was poetry in motion
Stiletto heels and nylons she moved up to the table
I could see she had a burger with my fries on
Love lies bleeding, listen to this, love lies bleeding
Well we parked outside a
We found it all real funny
The car was running on all tanks and we stole all the money
She was a wicked wily waitress and she should be doing time
She was an ordinary waitress now she owns her own goldmine
How 'bout that
Love lies bleeding, now listen to this, love lies bleeding
She was a rebel without a cause
She was a girl who needed applause
Love in the future, love in the past
Love lies bleeding in our path
Would you believe that it gets worse
She had a loud theatrical whisper
I had a one way ticket to Palookaville
She had an equally dangerous sister
I was out of my league, they were in for the kill
She was a wicked wily waitress
And I gave her all my trust
She took the loot, gave me the boot
Now she's rich and I'm flat bust
Yeah love lies bleeding
Now that was the limit because
She was a rebel without a cause
She was a girl who needed applause
Love in the future, love in the past
Love in the future, love in the past
Love lies bleeding in our path
I dreamed this world was quite alright,
And everyone meant well
When I awoke to my surprise
While you are imagining, imagine for instance,
The sights that you can take advantage of
Look at the beautiful cloud formations below you and above you
This could be heaven
Think of the colour of the sun as it shines off the clouds
In these days, in these days, in these days of cool reflection
You come to me and everything seems alright
In these days of cold affections
This could be heaven for everyone
This world could be fed, this world could be fun
This could be heaven for everyone
This world could be free, this world could be one,
In this world of cool deception
Just smile can smooth my ride
These troubled days of cruel rejection
You come to me, soothe my troubled mind
Yeah, this could be heaven for everyone
This world could be fed, this world could be one
We should bring love to our daughters and sons
Love, love, love, love
(This could be heaven for everyone)
So take a seat and sit by my side a while
You know I like your style
(This could be heaven for everyone)
So what can we do to clean up this mess
Just feel so helpless
This could be heaven for everyone
So lift up your voice at least you'll have cared
At least you'll have dared
Listen. What people do to other souls
They take their lives, destroy their goals
Their basic pride and dignity
Is stripped and torn and shown no pity
When this should be heaven for everyone
This could be heaven, could be heaven for everyone
This could be heaven, could be heaven for everyone etc.
Pleasure in pain
Desire of mortification
To achieve the extreme
To know the ultimate
To be a slave for a moment
The body offered up to cruelty
To the lash which whips on the skin
Which slashes the flesh, lacerates the back
To feel the blood, thick and warm
Flow over my wounds
Flagellation...
To thrust aside the limits
To say "yes" to death
Without fear, without remorse
To give up oneself to torture
Punishment and reward
The whip is ambiguous
It distills vice
In a perverse refinement
To be a slave for a moment
The body offered up to cruelty
To the lash which whips on the skin
MOONGLOW
It must have been moonglow
way up in the blue,
it must have been moonglow
that led me straight to you.
I still hear you saying
'dear one, hold me fast'
and I start in praying
oh Lord, please let this last.
We seemed to float right through the air,
heavenly songs seem to come from everywhere.
And now when there's moonglow
way up in the blue
I always remember
that moonglow gave me you.
Sickness born with life
She is a careful and patient shadow
Man's faithful enemy
Unceasingly transformed, rebaptized
Behind a different mask
I know it's always the same face,
Always the same eyes greedy for agony
Always the same compassionate ears
Listening to our moans,
To our heartbeats
Passive and disinterested
Like an infidel wife
This cold and wet mouth
Will give us the very last kiss
Death is red,
For those who experience her torments
Bound to death like a daughter to her mother
She gives her mass graves overflowing
Of sketched life, of projects and hopes
What's good to see her so active
Abandoned, in the arms of another plague
Humanity slowly disappears
Someone prays, some others cry
Did you ever say to yourself, "What's under this dress has done me good.
I had all of the flame without the pain of motherhood.
Without an heir I am alone but I have done nothing wrong."
(Rejoins the sea)
Did you ever say to yourself, "I am led by my parts.
I am the sum of the seductive arts. Now one of the family, I sold my privacy,
but I have done nothing wrong."

Schreibr Ralph
You were slipping through the backdoor
of my memory,
like a hunter in the desert
looking for the sea.
You told me a thousand things
I really didn't want to hear
Now I know the colour
of your tiny brothers hair.
And I said ''Good luck'' as you went away,
Misunderstanding filled the room,
I said ''Good luck'' as you went away,
and I buried my head down in the gloom.
I found a small bird
in the streets that night.
It was lying there
with a broken wing.
And then the rain came down
to clean it's soul
before it really
was taken away.
Tell me: Strong man -- do you believe?
Weak man -- you will receive!
Strong man -- do you believe?
Weak man -- you will recieve
Hard man -- you're gonna fight
Tough man -- you're looking right
Straight man -- where do you go?
Stand by your shadow
Now you're compleated
All kinds of lights
Show me you're there
Slowly through sunsets
Somehow the air is oh so bright
Mouth on my mouth we'll be sailing away
And someone shines on
Somewhere out there
When I'm bewildered
When all the world is going wild
Show me an island
Just for old time
Turn to me slowly
Close as the air and oh so bright
Sleep with me gentaly
Songs on the wind
And someone shines on
Somewhere out there
What do you do? I said what do you do?
You ain't wearin' a tie, you ain't got a jacket
You can't come in 'cos you're in the wrong bracket
You can shove it
VIP's and royalty get treated like they're special see
But the trick is there for all to see
They're people just like you and me
You can shove it
Girls - we love it
Cars - we love it
More girls - we love it
Late night bars - we love it
Pool - we love it
School - fantasy
What do you do?
You can shove it
You gotta talk, act and dress right
If you ain't got money, they treat ya funny
When they say the class system's dead
If you think that's true better get a new head
You can shove it
You can shove it
You can shove it
Girls - we love it
Cars - we love it
More girls - we love it
And late night bars - we love it
Pool - we love it
School - shove it
What do you do?
Shove it,
You can shove it.
So why do people scrape and fuss
When everyman's the same as us
It's a joke on all humanity
It's privilege
And we don't need it
War - shove it
Hate - shove it
Politicians - don't cut it
Blind dates - shove it
Girls schools - we love it
Crazy rules - shove it
What do you do?
You can shove it
Seek Ye first the kingdom of God,
And His righteousness,
And all these things, shall be added onto you,
Alleu, alleuia
Man shall not live by bread alone,
But by every word
That proceeds from the mouth of God
Alleu, Alleuia
Ask and it shall be given unto you,
Seek and ye shall find.
Knock and the door shall be opened onto you.
Alleu, Alleuia
Seek ye first the kingdom of God
And His righteousness
And all these things, shall be added onto you.
The No No Song
A lady that I know just came from Columbia,
She smiled because I did not understand.
Then She held out some marijuana oh ho.
She said it was in the finest in the land.
Chorus (smoke)
A woman that I know just came from Mayoca Spain,
She smiled because I did not understand.
Then she held out a 10 pound bag of cocaine,
She said it was the finest in the land.
Chorus (snort) / Bridge (ah ya) then lead
A man I know just came from Nashville, Tenn. Oh.
He smiled because I did not understand.
Then he held out some moonshine whiskey oh ho.
He said it was the best in all the land.
Chorus 2x (drink it/can't take it).
Listen - trapped again
Love on a lead is what you need
Love on a leash is what you wish
Love on a tightrope is what you get
Love on a steep slope you ain't seen nothing yet
When you smile, that wide wide smile
That tiger smile, I'm trapped again
Be my dog, be my pet, like a nervous tic
You just won't quit, like a nervous tic you just won't quit
You don't need a doctor, you need a vet
And when you laugh, your crazy laugh
That wild cat laugh, I'm trapped again
Love on a tightrope, love on a tightrope
Our love's on a steep slope
Love on a tightrope
No don't give up hope 'Cos when you wish upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
Don't give up hope our love's on a tightrope
Like a tiger cat you're where it's at
Like a crocodile along the Nile
So strange and wild, some kind of reptile
Love on a lead is what you need
And when you smile, that wide wild smile
That tiger smile, I'm trapped again
Trapped again
They say never bite the hand that feeds
Just one look and my heart bleeds
Love on a tightrope, love on a tightrope
You know, our love's on a steep slope
Love on a tightrope
No don't give up hope, 'Cos when you wish upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
Don't give up hope our love's on a tightrope
Animal eyes - like a real good time
Animal lips it's a perfect crime
Animal hair it just ain't fair
Like an animal

Hero's song
Give me one tall ship to sail,
A star to guide her by.
Let me orbit unknownn worlds a thousand miles high,
My lover is a virgin queen, the Gods gave her to me.
A ship, without a boon or sail,
Who rules and endless sea.
Both I and King Ulissees ] Wern't content upon the shore.
With hearts so big, to sing, we need a million years or more.
The salty winds against his brow,
Abord his one true bride.
One wings of space the Sirens sing,
Years after he has died.
For I am a soldire,
The battle I abhore.
I wage my war with ignorance as through the void I soar.
I wear my heart out on my sleave my dreams within imy soul.
WIth wisdom I must lead these men as
Endless night unfolds,
For I've a mighty ship to sail
We rule and endless sky.
A univerce of stars at my comand to guide her by,
The shores of dusty try my aim,
Of Crete, and lost Sireen.
The ancient hero's song to sing,

I HAVE COME TO SAVE THE DAY AND I WON'T LEAVE UNTIL I'M DONE
SO THAT'S WHY YOU'VE GOT TO TRY
YOU GOT TO BREATHE AND HAVE SOME FUN

AND I WON'T STOP UNTIL I'M DONE
BUT WHAT I REALLY WANT TO KNOW IS
ARE YOU GONNA GO MY WAY
AND I GOT TO GOT TO KNOW
I DON'T KNOW WHY WE ALWAYS CRY
THIS WE MUST LEAVE AND GET UNDONE
WE MUST ENGAGE AND REARRANGE
AND TURN THIS PLANET BACK TO ONE
SO TELL ME WHY WE GOT TO DIE
AND KILL EACH OTHER ONE BY ONE
WE'VE GOT TO LOVE AND RUB-A-DUB
WE'VE GOT TO DANCE AND BE IN LOVE
BUT WHAT I REALLY WANT TO KNOW IS
ARE YOU GONNA GO MY WAY

drifts a melody so strange and sweet.
In this sentimental bliss
you make my paradise complete.
Rose petals seem to fall,
it's all like a dream to call you mine.
My heart's a lighter thing
since you made this night a thing divine.
In a sentimental mood
I'm within a world so heavenly
for I never dreamt that you'd
be loving sentimental me.
It's criminal there ought to be a law
Criminal there ought to be a whole lot more
You get nothin' for nothin'
Tell me who can you trust
We've got what you want
And you've got the lust
Chorus:
You've got it
If you want blood
You've got it
Blood on the streets blood on the rocks
Blood in the doorways every last drop
You want blood
You've got it
It's animal livin' in a human zoo
I't animal livin' in a human zoo
Feelin' like a Chiristian
Locked in the cage
Thrown to the lions on a second's rage
Chorus
Blood on the rocks blood on the streets
Blood in the sky blood on the seats
If you want blood
You've got it
I want you to bleed for me
If you want blood
You've got it...
Reign of fear, of war,
Of silence, of resignation
Under the rules of the book of lies
Trawling the wrong path
Led like cattle
Never try to understand, accept, obey
Follow followers
And forget who you are
What's a lifestyle, to live for others
To share all with everybody
To answer love to hate
Never try to understand, accept, obey
Follow followers
And forget who you are
Take each single insult and injury
As a present, as a spiritual gold
To buy your place in heaven
I spit at your god's face
I piss on the cross
I vomit on the holy bible
I shit on the blessed whore and her bastard son
I desecrate, crush and destroy
All which is sacred, all which is blessed
I've found the one who lives in me
Brothers and sisters
Time for change is coming
Bells for revenge strike the end of times
By faith, by force
We'll walk toward the light
There Must Be A Woman
{ 2 phrase }
Every day I see your face
Come shining down on me-ee yeah
Now I see the way it should be-ee-ee
and the way that it is ya ya

(( There must be a woman ))
(( There must be a woman ))
Now I just want to know
What happens on the other side of your life
Wo you know let's pretend me more than twice
I just got to see, I just got to see for my eyes
(( There must be a woman ))
(( There is a woman ))
Oh yeah-ya because I just want to do good
because what runs deep down inside of me
It's a feeling you can't just let free

There's one of us peoples
One of us peeeeee--ooh-ya-a-ya-ya-a
(( There must be a woman ))
THE WILD ROVER
I've been a wild rover for many's the year
and I've spent all my money on whisky and beer.
But now I'm returning with money in great store
and I never will play the wild rover no more.
And it's no nay never, no nay never no more
will I play the wild rover no never no more.
I went into an ale-house I used to frequent
and I told the landlady my money was spent.
I asked her for credit, She answered ne: "Nay,
Such a custom as yours I can have ev'ry day".
And it's no nay never, no nay never no more
will I play the wild rover no never no more.
Then I took from my pocket ten sovereigns bright
and the lanlady's eyes opened winde with delight;
she said: "I have whisky and wine of the best
and the words that you told me were only in jest".
And it's no nay never, no nay never no more
will I play the wild rover no never no more.
I'll go home to my parents confess what i have done
and I'll ask them to pardon the prodigal son,
and when thes caress me as oft-times before,
I never will play the wild rover no more.
And it's no nay never, no nay never no more
TITLE: "THAT'S WHAT I NEED"
ARTIST: SWV
WRITTEN BY:
I need someone to share all my dreams with
That's what I need
Someone special who will love me just for me
That's what I need
I need someone to hold me tight
And be a good lover all night
So many times I opened up my heart
Only to let someone tear it apart
That's what I need
CHORUS
Someone to treat me right
Make love all through the night
That's what I need
(Because I've been hurt before)
I've been hurt before
Real love I'm looking for
That's what I need
I need someone who will never leave me lonely
That's what I need
Someone faithful to love me as their one and only
That's what I need
I need someone to share my ups and downs
And lead me through the bad times
Will always be around
So many times I've opened up my heart
Only to let someone tear it apart
I need
(REPEAT CHORUS)
Someone who will treat me right
Make real love all through the night
Someone who loves me for me
I realize that's what I need
(REPEAT CHORUS)
(Sweet embrace)
Must I remember your face
so well
what do I do here with this hunger
Oh I am not old
I'm told
but I am not young
Oh and nothing can be done
Don't start
my heart
is a smoking gun
Oh and nothing can be done
Nothing can be done
Nothing can be done
Oh nothing can be done
Here we are, seven of oceans / great divide conquers emotions, for good
Drives in car, transfers allegiance to land / Looks to land's earthen embrace
(Lum dum dum...)
I was led to believe that changes came
changes came when I was very much older
Layer the stone when limbs are worn down / layer the soil when mind has gone
Here are you, swept in on beaches
Tail winds, tangled nets / tasting soil, tail flaps in sunlight
SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY
Gonna take a sentimental journey,
gonna set my heart at ease.
Gonna make a sentimental journey
to renew old memories.
Got my bag, I got my reservation,
spent each dime I could afford.
Like a child in wild anticipation
long to hear that 'All aboard'.
Seven, that's the time we leave, at seven.
I'll be waiting up for heaven,
countin' every mile of railroad track
that takes me back.
Never thought my heart could be so yearny.
Why did I decide to roam?
Gotta take this sentimental journey,
sentimental journey home.
Rambling Rover
- from Silly Wizard
- chorus: -
Oh there's sober men & plenty
And drunkards barely twenty
There are men of over ninety
That have never yet kissed a girl.
But give me a rambling rover
Fae Orkney down to Dover
We will roam the country over
And together we'll face the world.
I've roamed through all the nations
Ta'en delight in all creation
And I've tried a wee sensation
Where the company did prove kind.
When parting was no pleasure
I've drunk another measure
To the good friends that we treasure
For they always are in our mind.
There's many that feign enjoyment
From merciless employment
Their ambition was this deployment
From the minute they left the school
And they save and scrape and ponder,
While the rest go out and squander
See the world and rove and wander -
And they're happier as a rule.
If you're bent with arthritis
Your bowels have got colitis
You've galloping ballicitus
And you're thinking it's time you died.
If you've been a man of action
While you're lying there in
traction
You may gain some satisfaction
Here under wraps human surplus / sirloin and dark peephole deluxe
Here in the cage steroid surprise / babel skinned consolation prize
C I've got an audience that loves my face
I've got an audience I call my own
I've got an audience but for the grace of God go I
Travel around the foreign towns / Ports of culture and the courts of old
Travel around the gaping crowds / the mothers and fathers of qualms
Here in the cage personal dark / Taste sensation pleasure park
Here in the flesh piggy smack / Vitamin lack and roller coast--C
MAKE ME AN ISLAND
Different eyes, different size, different girls every day.
Different names, different games took my breath clean away.
But I'm changed, rearranged, I'm enlightened and how
you have caught me, you have taught me and I'm different now.
Take me and break me and close all your windows and doors.
Shut me off, cut me off, make me an island, I'm yours.
Take me away from the world, take me away from the girls.
Take me and break me and make me an island, I'm yours.
Running round, shifting ground, that's the life I have seen.
But I'm tired, uninspired and I've wiped my slate clean.
You are mine, I am yours if the Lord will allow.
You have caught me, you have taught me and I'm different now.
Take me and break me and close all your windows and doors.
Shut me off, cut me off, make me an island, I'm yours.
Take me away from the world, take me away from the girls.
Take me and break me and make me an island, I'm yours.
Take me and break me and close all your windows and doors.
Shut me off, cut me off, make me an island, I'm yours.
Take me away from the world, take me away from the girls.
Take me and break me and make me an island, I'm yours.
Take me and break me and make me an island, I'm yours.
LULLABY OF BIRDLAND
Lullaby of Birdland, that's what I
always hear when you sigh.
Never in my wordland
could there be ways to reveal
in a phrase how I feel.
Have you ever heard two turtle doves
bill and coo when they love?
That's the kind of magic
music we make with our lips
when we kiss.
And there's a weepy old willow,
he really knows how to cry.
That's how I'd cry on my pillow
if you should tell me farewell and goodbye.
Lullaby of Birdland whisper low,
kiss me sweet and we'll go
flyin' high in Birdland,
high in the sky up above
all because we're in love.
Here in the depths of the whale / Therein the hopes of the unsaved
Drunk on the aqua vital / Fallen in vessels, broken in seas
And my hands are as tight as the tightness can be
and they hold on the thoughts of another
and my throat is dry as the dryness can be
and these are the floats of another
Here is the cup that holds your chances (all hail the king of the sea)
Here is the fruit of the sea
Take this wine and toast your new life (all hail the king of the sea)
Parade your watery state
C Here your reporter treads water / Here your reporter loses his air
Here your reporter treads water / Here lies your future
Here you are, the watery power / King of liquids and prince of thirst--C

Where is the blue sky?
Where is the moonshine?
Where is the sunrise in your eyes?
So here are my footprints,
here are the good things,
here is something to believe in.
What is what you see?
Do you give me your car key?
Have you always reflected the things that I say?
How many children will cry in the night?
Too many women can't treat their babies right!
I have finished, I have finished
with this world of illusions.
But where is the answer?
And who is the dancer?
He dances his heart away ...
So will you believe in
the things that I'm seeking?
And can you trust me just one more time?
In this old country lives a grey junkie
and he whispers still your name!
In his hands you see mirrors of painted, drafted errors
But he can not explain!
So where is the bottle
I held in the battle
of mind against soul?
And will you believe in
the dreams I am seeking?
Hot on the heels of '78 / The wailing dance of the cardiac rate
Break out lungs in ecstacy / the gross physique of devilry says,
"Oh! When they play the music too slow
my heart falls into the cold / and the ice has come again!"
Take my future, take my hand / Take a turn in the promised land
Host of quadrille, heel of fire / spirals down the steepest spire
The spiral of hope and the noose of the rope and the draw of the blade
I was shocked and sad to hear / that your laugh had caught another ear
and the seeds that I had spread / entered in another bed and...
C Fold your face in a lie / Curry the favour of magazines
Weigh the words in a style / Reflects back well on yourself
Is it serious? An understanding? / A walk in ways that I can recall
in a memory that falls / Dark in parts and sad in total--C
Oh, talk and preen yourself / splash on colours and eternity
In the boasts that you tell / sleep fast in your media shell--C
Well shake it up baby now
Twist and shout
Come on come on come on come on baby now
Come on and work it on out
You know you look so good
You know you look so fine
Come on and twist a little closer now
And let me know that you're mine
Well shake it up baby now
Twist and shout
Come on come on come on come on baby now
Come on and work it on out
You know you look so good
You know you look so fine
Come on and twist a little closer now
And let me know that you're mine
Well shake it up baby now
Twist and shout
Come on come on come on come on baby now
Come on and work it on out
You know you twist a little girl
You know you twist so fine
Come on and twist a little closer now
And let me know that you're mine
ALBERT THE ALLIGATOR
Did you ever slip down a water pipe
Right down to the bottom of the water system
There you'll find a little alligator
Who goes by the name of Albert, if you do, he's mine
I lost him
I lost him down the water pipe
Right down to the bottom of the water system
He was gettin' kind of big for his britches
But now I'm feeling kind of lonely and blue 'cause he's gone
I miss him

ALL PRETTY HORSES
Hush-a-bye, don't you cry
Go to sleepy, little baby
When you wake you shall have
All the pretty little horses.
Blacks and the bays
Dapples and grays
Coach and six-a little horses
Hush-a-bye, don't you cry
Go to sleepy little baby.
Way down younder in the meadow
Poor little lambie crying mama,
The bees and the butterflies
Peekin' out it's eyes
