In which John Green explores exactly when Rome went from being the Roman Republic to the Roman Empire. Here's a hint: it had something to do with Julius Caesar, but maybe less than you think. Find out how Caesar came to rule the empire, what led to him getting stabbed 23 times on the floor of the senate, and what happened in the scramble for power after his assassination. Civil law (or civilian law) is a legal system originating in Europe, intellectualized within the framework of late Roman law, and whose most prevalent feature is that its core principles are codified into a referable system which serves as the primary source of law. This can be contrasted with common law systems whose intellectual framework comes from judge-made decisional law which gives precedential authority to prior court decisions on the principle that it is unfair to treat similar facts differently on different occasions (doctrine of judicial precedent ; stare decisis).
Historically, a civil law is the group of legal ideas and systems ultimately derived from the Code of Justinian, but heavily overlaid by Napoleonic, Germanic, canonical, feudal, and local practices, as well as doctrinal strains such as natural law, codification, and legal positivism.

Emancipation from mental slavery
1. The genesis of this gathering between the indigenous people’s of Manenberg and Consol Glass, a foreign based mining company, is reflected in the clashes between our people and the slave merchants of Europe and their monarchs some 500 years.
2. Their behaviour has to this day been driven by divide, rule and conquer. They deceptively used words to continue their invasion of our land, our peace and our freedom.
3. Through their actions we are living in a society in which we live behind high walls, unemployment is out of control, people scavenging the streets for food to eat, children running around with guns killing each other. The moral fibre of our society is at the brink of total collapse. All because the coloniser continues to hold onto our land, mineral wealth and resources.
4. By their own rules they have violated the constitution adopted in 1996 in which we pledged to redress the inequalities of the past, join hands as people, both rich and poor and put the interest of the nation above that of our own.
5. This however did not materialise and people are awakening to the truth that apartheid did not die in 1994 and that instead we continued with economic apartheid in which a few people (the rich) continue exploiting our land, minerals and resources with the help of the government and the courts.
6. The land Consol is mining on was inhabited by people of Manenberg, of them present today, who were driven off the land. Systematically we were dispossessed of the land. Today Consol wants the courts, through apartheid legislation, to once again forcibly remove us from the land. This behaviour is criminal.
7. Evictions are akin to forced removals which is derived from apartheid colonialism. All evictions currently being heard by the courts are thus set aside because these are a crime against humanity. Cases in point the land disputes in Joe Slovo, Marikana in Philippi as well as threats of eviction from land evictions in Worcester.
8. The government and the courts are used as commercial instruments intent on squeezing money from the people, who they refer to as citizens. Instead of transforming the courts to customary and common law as required by section 39 of the Bill of Rights, we have continued with apartheid through the practice of Roman Dutch law.
9. Through this case we have witnessed the court officials (Judges) flouting the law. Judge Riley a point in case tampering with the transcripts, interfering with administrative matters and making two ambiquios findings. This system undermines people’s access to justice.
10. The representatives of Roman Dutch law, i.e. Jacob Zuma and Cyril Ramaphosa have through their utterances, abandoned the apartheid ship in stating “corruption is only a crime in a “Western paradigm”. Ramaphosa has broken rank by taking it upon himself to declare evictions on farms illegal.
The way forward
1. Roman Dutch law is declared a crime against humanity and as from today no longer exist.
2. The Bill of Rights creates the transition from apartheid Roman Dutch law to customary and common law which we are taking forward with immediate effect.
3. Consol Glass and the people of Manenberg to agree on a date to start a new journey of getting to know each other and finding ways of working together
4. Each One Teach
- a national people’s education program on the dawning of a new Africa from street to street, village to village, town to town
- Educating public servants from judges, police, teachers, health care workers, SANDF staff, on the implications of the transition from Roman Dutch law to customary and common law.
- All courts to be repurposed across South Africa from Roman Dutch to customary and common law
5. Mining communities coming together to explore the future of mining and starting a conversation with the corporations on transferring the mines into the hands of the people

This animated film charts the history of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, which today serves as the highest court of appeal for a number of Commonwealth countries, as well as the United Kingdom’s overseas territories, crown dependencies, and military sovereign base areas. The JCPC hears around 40 appeals each year, chiefly in the courthouse it shares with the UK Supreme Court on Parliament Square, London.
As this film explains, the origins of the JCPC stretch back to the Curia Regis, or Royal Court, of Norman times. As Parliament developed out of this council, the majority of petitions against decisions of the Sovereign’s courts outside Great Britain and Northern Ireland were referred to the High Court of Parliament, which became the chief appellate tribunal. Over time, this ‘appellate jurisdiction’ transferred to a special committee of the Sovereign’s closest advisers (Privy Counsellors). The present constitution of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council is based on the Judicial Committee Act 1833.
Under the Appellate Jurisdiction Act 1876, the Law Lords (now UK Supreme Court Justices) became the permanent judges of the court. Today, all Privy Counsellors who hold or have held high judicial office in the United Kingdom, or have been judges of superior courts of certain Commonwealth countries, are eligible to sit if they are under 75 years of age.
With the growth of the British empire, the JCPC’s worked peaked in the early 1900s. Over the years the JCPC has been asked for final rulings and interpretations of many different kinds of law, from Roman Dutch law in appeals from South Africa, to pre-revolutionary French law from Quebec, and Muslim, Buddhist and Hindu law from India.

a court of record was decreed, jurisdiction challenged, roman-dutch (admiralty) law disguised as civil law was abandoned, 'judge' john riley was asked to step of his throne and be part of an impartial tribunal... this was the most successful 'reclaim the courts' action on the land commonly known as south africa, in support of a community of people in the centre of cape town, who have been abandoned by the corporate government long ago and who have taken the initiative to claim lawful custodianship of a land parcel, which they converted into a small hub of activities and empowerment; the corporate state, in collusion with Consol Glass (Pty) Ltd can not allow for any such sovereign action, though the land parcel in question will never be used by either one of them, the corporate state or Consol Glass (Pty) Ltd, it is purely because of principle, to keep the people enslaved and suppressed, but the people will stand their ground, literally, they are the lawful custodians of the land !!!

The South African legal system is a blend of British common law, Dutch-Roman law and "customary" law, reflective of its colonial history. Most courts follow South African common law, but will apply customary law when it is appropriate to do so. The head of the South African Judiciary is the Chief Justice of South Africa and section 8 of the Superior Courts Act provides that the Chief Justice is responsible for the establishment and monitoring of norms and standards for the exercise of the judicial functions of all courts, and enjoins the Chief Justice to issue written, protocols, or directives to give guidance or advice to Judicial officers. The Norms and Standards are binding on all Judicial officers and apply to all Courts in the Republic of South Africa. Whether these Norms and Standards are going to lead to universal access to justice and efficiency of the courts remains to be seen?

The Roman Empire (Latin: Imperium Rōmānum; Classical Latin: [ɪmˈpɛ.ri.ũː roːˈmaː.nũː] Ancient and Medieval Greek: Βασιλεία τῶν Ῥωμαίων}} Basileia tōn Rhōmaiōn) was the post-Republican period of the ancient Roman civilization, characterized by government headed by emperors and large territorial holdings around the Mediterranean Sea in Europe, Africa and Asia. The 500-year-old republic which preceded it was severely destabilized in a series of civil wars and political conflict, during which Julius Caesar was appointed as perpetual dictator and then assassinated in 44 BC. Civil wars and executions continued, culminating in the victory of Octavian, Caesar's adopted son, over Mark Antony and Cleopatra at the Battle of Actium in 31 BC and the annexation of Egypt. Octavian's power was now unassailable and in 27 BC the Roman Senate formally granted him overarching power and the new title Augustus, effectively marking the end of the Roman Republic.
The imperial successor to the Republic lasted approximately 500 years. The first two centuries of the Empire's existence were a period of unprecedented political stability and prosperity known as the Pax Romana, or "Roman Peace". Following Octavian's victory, the size of the Empire was dramatically increased. After the assassination of Caligula in 41, the Senate briefly considered restoring the republic, but the Praetorian Guard proclaimed Claudius Emperor instead. Under Claudius, the Empire underwent its first major expansion since Augustus. After Claudius' successor, Nero, committed suicide in 68, the Empire suffered a period of brief civil wars, as well as a concurrent major rebellion in Judea, during which four different legionary generals were proclaimed Emperor. Vespasian emerged triumphant in 69, establishing the Flavian dynasty, before being succeeded by his son Titus, who opened the Colosseum shortly after the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. His short reign was followed by the long reign of his brother Domitian, who was eventually assassinated. The Senate then appointed the first of the Five Good Emperors. The Empire reached its greatest extent under Trajan, the second in this line.
The Roman Empire was among the most powerful economic, cultural, political and military forces in the world of its time. It was the largest empire of the classical antiquity period, and one of the largest empires in world history. At its height under Trajan, it covered 5 million square kilometers[3][5] and held sway over some 70 million people, at that time, 21% of the world's entire population. The longevity and vast extent of the Empire ensured the lasting influence of Latin and Greek language, culture, religion, inventions, architecture, philosophy, law and forms of government on the Empire's descendants. Throughout the European medieval period, attempts were even made to establish successors to the Roman Empire, including the Crusader state, the Empire of Romania and the Holy Roman Empire. By means of European expansionism through the Spanish, French, Portuguese, Dutch, Italian, German, British and Belgian Empires, Roman and Greek culture was spread on a worldwide scale, playing a significant role in the development of the modern world.

Lakshman Kadirgamar was born in Colombo.[5] He hailed from a Tamil family; his father was Samuel J.C.Kadirgamar Sr, JP, UM a Proctor, who was the President of the Colombo Proctor's Association and the founder President of the Law Society of Ceylon. He had three elder brothers; S.J.C.Kadirgamar Jr., QC was an eminent lawyer in commercial law, Rear Admiral Rajan Kadiragamar former head of the Royal Ceylon Navy and Selvanathan "Bai" Kadirgamar was a Major in the Ceylon Army.
Educated at Trinity College, Kandy, he captained the college first eleven cricket team in 1950 while also competing in the college athletic and rugby teams. He played in the annual Bradby Shield Encounter. He was the winner of the Senior Batting Prize in 1948, a Rugger Coloursman in 1948 and 1949, Athletics Lion in 1949, and winner of the first Duncan White Challenge Cup for Athletics in 1948. In recognition of his all-round performance in academic and extra curricular spheres, he was awarded the prestigious Ryde Gold medal for the best all round student of 1950. He was also the Senior Prefect of Trinity College.
In 1950 Kadirgamar went on to study law at the University of Ceylon, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (Honors) degree in 1953. Kadirgamar was the holder of the All India Inter University 110 metre hurdles title in both 1951 and 1952.
He was the top student in the First Class at the Advocates Intermediate Examination in 1953 of the Ceylon Law College. In 1954 he won the scholarship for the candidate placed first in the First Class at the Advocates Final Examination of the Ceylon Law College and was awarded prizes for the Law of Evidence and the Law of Persons and Property. In 1955 he took oaths as Advocate of the Supreme Court of Ceylon.
Thereafter he won a scholarship to Balliol College, Oxford, where he studied from 1956 to 1959, receiving in 1960 his BLitt degree from the University of Oxford. His thesis was on "Strict Liability in English and Roman-Dutch Law". In November 1958 he applied successfully to become a barrister of Inner Temple, London. In the same month he became the second Sri Lankan (the first had been Lalith Athulathmudali one year earlier) to be elected to serve as President of the Oxford Union. He played cricket in the Balliol College team.[6] In April 2013 Balliol College established the Lakshman Kadirgamar Fund[7] to assist students from Asia at Balliol College: the fund is open for donations.
Upon leaving Oxford he took up a legal career. He returned to Sri Lanka and built up a practice in commercial, industrial and administrative law. In 1963, he was commissioned by Amnesty International to investigate the Buddhist-led resistance campaign that year against the regime in South Vietnam. This was the first-ever report for Amnesty of a situation in an individual country.[8]
Going on to work for international organisations in Geneva, Kadirgamar served in 1974-6 as a consultant for the International Labour Organization (ILO). Then in 1976 he took up an appointment with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), in which he was appointed in 1983 to the newly created post of Director for Asia and the Pacific. Kadirgamar was the author of a number of scholarly articles published in international legal journals such as the Modern Law Review, South African Law Journal and Conveyancer and Property Lawyer.
In 1988 he returned to Sri Lanka and resumed his legal career there. In 1991 he was appointed President's Counsel.[9]

The Netherlands is a civil law country. Its laws are written and the application of customary law is exceptional. The role of case law is small in theory, although in practice it is impossible to understand the law in many fields without also taking into account the relevant case law. The Dutch system of law is based on the French Civil Code with influences from Roman Law and traditional Dutch customary law. The new civil law books (which went into force in 1992) were heavily influenced by the German Bürgerliches Gesetzbuch.
The primary law making body is formed by the Dutch parliament in cooperation with the government. When operating jointly to create laws they are commonly referred to as the legislature (Dutch: wetgever). The power to make new laws can be delegated to lower governments or specific organs of the State, but only for a prescribed purpose. A trend in recent years has been for parliament and the government to create "framework laws" and delegate the creation of detailed rules to ministers or lower governments. (e.g. a province or municipality)

Stephen Tyrone Colbert (
/koʊlˈbɛər/ or /ˈkoʊlbərt/; born May 13, 1964) is an American political satirist, writer, comedian, television host, and actor. He is the host of Comedy Central's The Colbert Report, a satirical news show in which Colbert portrays a caricatured version of conservative political pundits.
Colbert originally studied to be an actor, but became interested in improvisational theatre when he met famed Second City director Del Close while attending Northwestern University. He first performed professionally as an understudy for Steve Carell at Second City Chicago; among his troupe mates were comedians Paul Dinello and Amy Sedaris, with whom he developed the critically acclaimed sketch comedy series Exit 57.
Colbert also wrote and performed on the short-lived Dana Carvey Show before collaborating with Sedaris and Dinello again on the cult television series Strangers with Candy. He gained considerable attention for his role on the latter as closeted gay history teacher Chuck Noblet. It was his work as a correspondent on Comedy Central's news-parody series The Daily Show, however, that first introduced him to a wide audience.

The Dutch people (Dutch: Nederlanders (help·info)) are an ethnic group native to the Netherlands. They share a common culture and speak the Dutch language. Dutch people and their descendants are found in migrant communities worldwide, notably in Suriname, Chile, Brazil, Canada,Australia,South Africa,New Zealand, and the United States.
The traditional art and culture of the Dutch encompasses various forms of traditional music, dances, architectural styles and clothing, some of which are globally recognizable. Internationally, Dutch painters such as Rembrandt, Vermeer and Van Gogh are held in high regard. The dominant religion of the Dutch is Christianity (both Catholic and Protestant), although in modern times the majority is no longer (openly) religious. Significant percentages of the Dutch are adherents of humanism, agnosticism, atheism or individual spirituality.
In the Middle Ages the Low Countries were situated around the border of France and the Holy Roman Empire, forming a part of their respective peripheries, and the various territories of which they consisted had de facto become virtually autonomous by the 13th century. Under the Habsburgs, the Netherlands were organised into a single administrative unit, and in the 16th and 17th centuries the Northern Netherlands gained independence from Spain as the Dutch Republic. The high degree of urbanization characteristic of Dutch society was attained at a relatively early date. During the Republic the first series of large scale Dutch migrations outside of Europe took place.

The moral fibre of our society is at the brink of total collapse. All because the coloniser continues to hold onto our land, mineral wealth and resources. 4. By their own rules they have violated the constitution adopted in 1996 in which we pledged to redress the inequalities of the past, join hands as people, both rich and poor and put the interest of the nation above that of our own. 5. This however did not materialise and people are awakening to the truth that apartheid did not die in 1994 and that instead we continued with economic apartheid in which a few people (the rich) continue exploiting our land, minerals and resources with the help of the government and the courts. 6. The land Consol is mining on was inhabited by people of Manenberg, of them present today, who were driven off the land. Systematically we were dispossessed of the land. Today Consol wants the courts, through apartheid legislation, to once again forcibly remove us from the land. This behaviour is criminal. 7. Evictions are akin to forced removals which is derived from apartheid colonialism. All evictions currently being heard by the courts are thus set aside because these are a crime against humanity. Cases in point the land disputes in Joe Slovo, Marikana in Philippi as well as threats of eviction from land evictions in Worcester. 8. The government and the courts are used as commercial instruments intent on squeezing money from the people, who they refer to as citizens. Instead of transforming the courts to customary and common law as required by section 39 of the Bill of Rights, we have continued with apartheid through the practice of Roman Dutch law. 9. Through this case we have witnessed the court officials (Judges) flouting the law. Judge Riley a point in case tampering with the transcripts, interfering with administrative matters and making two ambiquios findings. This system undermines people’s access to justice. 10. The representatives of Roman Dutch law, i.e. Jacob Zuma and Cyril Ramaphosa have through their utterances, abandoned the apartheid ship in stating “corruption is only a crime in a “Western paradigm”. Ramaphosa has broken rank by taking it upon himself to declare evictions on farms illegal. The way forward 1. Roman Dutch law is declared a crime against humanity and as from today no longer exist. 2. The Bill of Rights creates the transition from apartheid Roman Dutch law to customary and common law which we are taking forward with immediate effect. 3. Consol Glass and the people of Manenberg to agree on a date to start a new journey of getting to know each other and finding ways of working together 4. Each One Teach - a national people’s education program on the dawning of a new Africa from street to street, village to village, town to town - Educating public servants from judges, police, teachers, health care workers, SANDF staff, on the implications of the transition from Roman Dutch law to customary and common law. - All courts to be repurposed across South Africa from Roman Dutch to customary and common law 5. Mining communities coming together to explore the future of mining and starting a conversation with the corporations on transferring the mines into the hands of the people 6. As Parliament developed out of this council, the majority of petitions against decisions of the Sovereign’s courts outside Great Britain and Northern Ireland were referred to the High Court of Parliament, which became the chief appellate tribunal. Over time, this ‘appellate jurisdiction’ transferred to a special committee of the Sovereign’s closest advisers (Privy Counsellors). The present constitution of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council is based on the Judicial Committee Act 1833. Under the Appellate Jurisdiction Act 1876, the Law Lords (now UK Supreme Court Justices) became the permanent judges of the court. Today, all Privy Counsellors who hold or have held high judicial office in the United Kingdom, or have been judges of superior courts of certain Commonwealth countries, are eligible to sit if they are under 75 years of age. With the growth of the British empire, the JCPC’s worked peaked in the early 1900s. The South African legal system is a blend of British common law, Dutch-Roman law and "customary" law, reflective of its colonial history. Most courts follow South African common law, but will apply customary law when it is appropriate to do so. The head of the South African Judiciary is the Chief Justice of South Africa and section 8 of the Superior Courts Act provides that the Chief Justice is responsible for the establishment and monitoring of norms and standards for the exercise of the judicial functions of all courts, and enjoins the Chief Justice to issue written, protocols, or directives to give guidance or advice to Judicial officers. The Norms and Standards are binding on all Judicial officers and apply to all Courts in the Republic of South Africa. The Roman Empire (Latin: Imperium Rōmānum; Classical Latin: [ɪmˈpɛ.ri.ũː roːˈmaː.nũː] Ancient and Medieval Greek: Βασιλεία τῶν Ῥωμαίων}} Basileia tōn Rhōmaiōn) was the post-Republican period of the ancient Roman civilization, characterized by government headed by emperors and large territorial holdings around the Mediterranean Sea in Europe, Africa and Asia. The 500-year-old republic which preceded it was severely destabilized in a series of civil wars and political conflict, during which Julius Caesar was appointed as perpetual dictator and then assassinated in 44 BC. Civil wars and executions continued, culminating in the victory of Octavian, Caesar's adopted son, over Mark Antony and Cleopatra at the Battle of Actium in 31 BC and the annexation of Egypt. Octavian's power was now unassailable and in 27 BC the Roman Senate formally granted him overarching power and the new title Augustus, effectively marking the end of the Roman Republic. The imperial successor to the Republic lasted approximately 500 years. The first two centuries of the Empire's existence were a period of unprecedented political stability and prosperity known as the Pax Romana, or "Roman Peace". Following Octavian's victory, the size of the Empire was dramatically increased. After the assassination of Caligula in 41, the Senate briefly considered restoring the republic, but the Praetorian Guard proclaimed Claudius Emperor instead. Under Claudius, the Empire underwent its first major expansion since Augustus. After Claudius' successor, Nero, committed suicide in 68, the Empire suffered a period of brief civil wars, as well as a concurrent major rebellion in Judea, during which four different legionary generals were proclaimed Emperor. Vespasian emerged triumphant in 69, establishing the Flavian dynasty, before being succeeded by his son Titus, who opened the Colosseum shortly after the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. His short reign was followed by the long reign of his brother Domitian, who was eventually assassinated. The Senate then appointed the first of the Five Good Emperors. The Empire reached its greatest extent under Trajan, the second in this line. The Roman Empire was among the most powerful economic, cultural, political and military forces in the world of its time. It was the largest empire of the classical antiquity period, and one of the largest empires in world history. At its height under Trajan, it covered 5 million square kilometers[3][5] and held sway over some 70 million people, at that time, 21% of the world's entire population. The longevity and vast extent of the Empire ensured the lasting influence of Latin and Greek language, culture, religion, inventions, architecture, philosophy, law and forms of government on the Empire's descendants. Throughout the European medieval period, attempts were even made to establish successors to the Roman Empire, including the Crusader state, the Empire of Romania and the Holy Roman Empire. Lakshman Kadirgamar was born in Colombo.[5] He hailed from a Tamil family; his father was Samuel J.C.Kadirgamar Sr, JP, UM a Proctor, who was the President of the Colombo Proctor's Association and the founder President of the Law Society of Ceylon. He had three elder brothers; S.J.C.Kadirgamar Jr., QC was an eminent lawyer in commercial law, Rear Admiral Rajan Kadiragamar former head of the Royal Ceylon Navy and Selvanathan "Bai" Kadirgamar was a Major in the Ceylon Army. Educated at Trinity College, Kandy, he captained the college first eleven cricket team in 1950 while also competing in the college athletic and rugby teams. He played in the annual Bradby Shield Encounter. He was the winner of the Senior Batting Prize in 1948, a Rugger Coloursman in 1948 and 1949, Athletics Lion in 1949, and winner of the first Duncan White Challenge Cup for Athletics in 1948. In recognition of his all-round performance in academic and extra curricular spheres, he was awarded the prestigious Ryde Gold medal for the best all round student of 1950. He was also the Senior Prefect of Trinity College. In 1950 Kadirgamar went on to study law at the University of Ceylon, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (Honors) degree in 1953. Kadirgamar was the holder of the All India Inter University 110 metre hurdles title in both 1951 and 1952. He was the top student in the First Class at the Advocates Intermediate Examination in 1953 of the Ceylon Law College. In 1954 he won the scholarship for the candidate placed first in the First Class at the Advocates Final Examination of the Ceylon Law College and was awarded prizes for the Law of Evidence and the Law of Persons and Property. In 1955 he took oaths as Advocate of the Supreme Court of Ceylon. Thereafter he won a scholarship to Balliol College, Oxford, where he studied from 1956 to 1959, receiving in 1960 his BLitt degree from the University of Oxford. His thesis was on "Strict Liability in English and Roman-Dutch Law". In November 1958 he applied successfully to become a barrister of Inner Temple, London. In the same month he became the second Sri Lankan (the first had been Lalith Athulathmudali one year earlier) to be elected to serve as President of the Oxford Union. He played cricket in the Balliol College team.[6] In April 2013 Balliol College established the Lakshman Kadirgamar Fund[7] to assist students from Asia at Balliol College: the fund is open for donations. Upon leaving Oxford he took up a legal career. He returned to Sri Lanka and built up a practice in commercial, industrial and administrative law. In 1963, he was commissioned by Amnesty International to investigate the Buddhist-led resistance campaign that year against the regime in South Vietnam. This was the first-ever report for Amnesty of a situation in an individual country.[8] Going on to work for international organisations in Geneva, Kadirgamar served in 1974-6 as a consultant for the International Labour Organization (ILO). Then in 1976 he took up an appointment with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), in which he was appointed in 1983 to the newly created post of Director for Asia and the Pacific. Kadirgamar was the author of a number of scholarly articles published in international legal journals such as the Modern Law Review, South African Law Journal and Conveyancer and Property Lawyer. In 1988 he returned to Sri Lanka and resumed his legal career there. In 1991 he was appointed President's Counsel.[9] -

1. The genesis of this gathering between the indigenous people’s of Manenberg and Consol Glass, a foreign based mining company, is reflected in the clashes between our people and the slave merchants of Europe and their monarchs some 500 years.
2. Their behaviour has to this day been driven by divide, rule and conquer. They deceptively used words to continue their invasion of our land, our peace and our freedom.
3. Through their actions we are living in a society in which we live behind high walls, unemployment is out of control, people scavenging the streets for food to eat, children running around with guns killing each other. The moral fibre of our society is at the brink of total collapse. All because the coloniser continues to hold onto our land, mineral wealth and resources.
4. By their own rules they have violated the constitution adopted in 1996 in which we pledged to redress the inequalities of the past, join hands as people, both rich and poor and put the interest of the nation above that of our own.
5. This however did not materialise and people are awakening to the truth that apartheid did not die in 1994 and that instead we continued with economic apartheid in which a few people (the rich) continue exploiting our land, minerals and resources with the help of the government and the courts.
6. The land Consol is mining on was inhabited by people of Manenberg, of them present today, who were driven off the land. Systematically we were dispossessed of the land. Today Consol wants the courts, through apartheid legislation, to once again forcibly remove us from the land. This behaviour is criminal.
7. Evictions are akin to forced removals which is derived from apartheid colonialism. All evictions currently being heard by the courts are thus set aside because these are a crime against humanity. Cases in point the land disputes in Joe Slovo, Marikana in Philippi as well as threats of eviction from land evictions in Worcester.
8. The government and the courts are used as commercial instruments intent on squeezing money from the people, who they refer to as citizens. Instead of transforming the courts to customary and common law as required by section 39 of the Bill of Rights, we have continued with apartheid through the practice of Roman Dutch law.
9. Through this case we have witnessed the court officials (Judges) flouting the law. Judge Riley a point in case tampering with the transcripts, interfering with administrative matters and making two ambiquios findings. This system undermines people’s access to justice.
10. The representatives of Roman Dutch law, i.e. Jacob Zuma and Cyril Ramaphosa have through their utterances, abandoned the apartheid ship in stating “corruption is only a crime in a “Western paradigm”. Ramaphosa has broken rank by taking it upon himself to declare evictions on farms illegal.
The way forward
1. Roman Dutch law is declared a crime against humanity and as from today no longer exist.
2. The Bill of Rights creates the transition from apartheid Roman Dutch law to customary and common law which we are taking forward with immediate effect.
3. Consol Glass and the people of Manenberg to agree on a date to start a new journey of getting to know each other and finding ways of working together
4. Each One Teach
- a national people’s education program on the dawning of a new Africa from street to street, village to village, town to town
- Educating public servants from judges, police, teachers, health care workers, SANDF staff, on the implications of the transition from Roman Dutch law to customary and common law.
- All courts to be repurposed across South Africa from Roman Dutch to customary and common law
5. Mining communities coming together to explore the future of mining and starting a conversation with the corporations on transferring the mines into the hands of the people
6. A meeting between the indigenous people’s of Manenberg, the UDF and AgriSA on 7 November to look at practical ways of implementing land restoration across South Africa
7. A national people’s convention bringing together peoples of all walks of life, rich and poor, young and old to put in place a new system of governance

1. The genesis of this gathering between the indigenous people’s of Manenberg and Consol Glass, a foreign based mining company, is reflected in the clashes between our people and the slave merchants of Europe and their monarchs some 500 years.
2. Their behaviour has to this day been driven by divide, rule and conquer. They deceptively used words to continue their invasion of our land, our peace and our freedom.
3. Through their actions we are living in a society in which we live behind high walls, unemployment is out of control, people scavenging the streets for food to eat, children running around with guns killing each other. The moral fibre of our society is at the brink of total collapse. All because the coloniser continues to hold onto our land, mineral wealth and resources.
4. By their own rules they have violated the constitution adopted in 1996 in which we pledged to redress the inequalities of the past, join hands as people, both rich and poor and put the interest of the nation above that of our own.
5. This however did not materialise and people are awakening to the truth that apartheid did not die in 1994 and that instead we continued with economic apartheid in which a few people (the rich) continue exploiting our land, minerals and resources with the help of the government and the courts.
6. The land Consol is mining on was inhabited by people of Manenberg, of them present today, who were driven off the land. Systematically we were dispossessed of the land. Today Consol wants the courts, through apartheid legislation, to once again forcibly remove us from the land. This behaviour is criminal.
7. Evictions are akin to forced removals which is derived from apartheid colonialism. All evictions currently being heard by the courts are thus set aside because these are a crime against humanity. Cases in point the land disputes in Joe Slovo, Marikana in Philippi as well as threats of eviction from land evictions in Worcester.

Over time, this ‘appellate jurisdiction’ transferred to a special committee of the Sovereign’s closest advisers (Privy Counsellors). The present constitution of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council is based on the Judicial Committee Act 1833.
Under the Appellate Jurisdiction Act 1876, the Law Lords (now UK Supreme Court Justices) became the permanent judges of the court. Today, all Privy Counsellors who hold or have held high judicial office in the United Kingdom, or have been judges of superior courts of certain Commonwealth countries, are eligible to sit if they are under 75 years of age.
With the growth of the British empire, the JCPC’s worked peaked in the early 1900s. Over the years the JCPC has been asked for final rulings and interpretations of many different kinds of law, from Roman Dutch law in appeals from South Africa, to pre-revolutionary French law from Quebec, and Muslim, Buddhist and Hindu law from India.

In 1950 Kadirgamar went on to study law at the University of Ceylon, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (Honors) degree in 1953. Kadirgamar was the holder of the All India Inter University 110 metre hurdles title in both 1951 and 1952.
He was the top student in the First Class at the Advocates Intermediate Examination in 1953 of the Ceylon Law College. In 1954 he won the scholarship for the candidate placed first in the First Class at the Advocates Final Examination of the Ceylon Law College and was awarded prizes for the Law of Evidence and the Law of Persons and Property. In 1955 he took oaths as Advocate of the Supreme Court of Ceylon.
Thereafter he won a scholarship to Balliol College, Oxford, where he studied from 1956 to 1959, receiving in 1960 his BLitt degree from the University of Oxford. His thesis was on "Strict Liability in English and Roman-Dutch Law". In November 1958 he applied successfully to become a barrister of Inner Temple, London. In the same month he became the second Sri Lankan (the first had been Lalith Athulathmudali one year earlier) to be elected to serve as President of the Oxford Union. He played cricket in the Balliol College team.[6] In April 2013 Balliol College established the Lakshman Kadirgamar Fund[7] to assist students from Asia at Balliol College: the fund is open for donations.
Upon leaving Oxford he took up a legal career. He returned to Sri Lanka and built up a practice in commercial, industrial and administrative law. In 1963, he was commissioned by Amnesty International to investigate the Buddhist-led resistance campaign that year against the regime in South Vietnam. This was the first-ever report for Amnesty of a situation in an individual country.[8]
Going on to work for international organisations in Geneva, Kadirgamar served in 1974-6 as a consultant for the International Labour Organization (ILO). Then in 1976 he took up an appointment with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), in which he was appointed in 1983 to the newly created post of Director for Asia and the Pacific. Kadirgamar was the author of a number of scholarly articles published in international legal journals such as the Modern Law Review, South African Law Journal and Conveyancer and Property Lawyer.
In 1988 he returned to Sri Lanka and resumed his legal career there. In 1991 he was appointed President's Counsel.[9]

Lakshman Kadirgamar was born in Colombo.[5] He hailed from a Tamil family; his father was Samuel J.C.Kadirgamar Sr, JP, UM a Proctor, who was the President of the Colombo Proctor's Association and the founder President of the Law Society of Ceylon. He had three elder brothers; S.J.C.Kadirgamar Jr., QC was an eminent lawyer in commercial law, Rear Admiral Rajan Kadiragamar former head of the Royal Ceylon Navy and Selvanathan "Bai" Kadirgamar was a Major in the Ceylon Army.
Educated at Trinity College, Kandy, he captained the college first eleven cricket team in 1950 while also competing in the college athletic and rugby teams. He played in the annual Bradby Shield Encounter. He was the winner of the Senior Batting Prize in 1948, a Rugger Coloursman in 1948 and 1949, Athletics Lion in 1949, and winner of the first Duncan White Challenge Cup for Athletics in 1948. In recognition of his all-round performance in academic and extra curricular spheres, he was awarded the prestigious Ryde Gold medal for the best all round student of 1950. He was also the Senior Prefect of Trinity College.

1. Any U.S. attack on Syria has the potential to trigger a larger war, which could lead to a thermonuclear war and extinction. This threat is so serious that any other considerations in favor of U.S. military action against Syria must be rejected due to this overwhelming danger.
Claims that the Administration has "understandings" with Russia and Iran to prevent such an escalation must be dismissed as unreliable, particularly when weighed against the threat of military action leading to world war and the likelihood of the use of thermonuclear weapons.
2. The Syrian events must be seen from the standpoint that the world system today is dominated by an imperial system with historical roots in Europe dating back to the sacking of Troy and the emergence of the Roman Empire. The sickness of Europe which prevails to this day in the form of the modern Anglo-Dutch global monetarist system dominates the habits of the world. The British Crown is on record promoting a policy of mass population reduction from the current level of 7 billion people down to 1-2 billion. President Obama is a tool of this international group, represented in the United States by the Wall Street combination. Thermonuclear war must be prevented absolutely, and a military strike against Syria, no matter how limited in scope, brings the world substantially closer to such a war.
3. The present Anglo-Dutch global financial system is headed ultimately towards a general bankruptcy. It is coming soon, and this is driving a desperate faction among the Anglo-Dutch to contemplate an escalation to global war. The fact that there is serious movement in the United States and in other parts of the world towards a Glass Steagall solution to the global bankruptcy collapse is further driving Wall Street into a panic.
4. The threatened consequences of a Syria strike add to the fact that there is no basis in international law or U.S. Constitutional law for President Obama to launch strikes against Syria. Defeat Obama on Syria and he will go ape. He must be removed from office for cause and the fact that he is contemplating an attack on Syria, knowing the potential consequences, is in itself sufficient cause.
5. The U.S. military has been decimated through more than a decade of long wars. The logic of the U.S. buildup against Russia and China is moving the world towards a Pacific thermonuclear war. Once the fuse is lit with even a limited military strike against Syria, the situation immediately moves out of control.
6. Prevent this Syria attack at all costs, implement Glass Steagall immediately and new prospects for global stability are immediately available. The United States has the opportunity to partner with China. The world is a mess and we need a factor of stability. The Chinese know that a further collapse of Europe and the United States assures the collapse of China. Combine Glass Steagall with a cooperative global crash effort to achieve fusion power and the conditions driving the world to a war of extinction can be eliminated altogether.
7. In principle, this looming war can be stopped by a relatively small number of people who understand how to carry out an effective flanking operation. The logic of the current Obama policy trajectory is that, if you let it run its course, we are in danger of thermonuclear war. Russia has been put in a corner and any further actions can provoke an unrestrained response. So far, Putin, although he is in a touchy situation, is acting with restraint.

What are the three city states and do they rule the world?
The flag in Washington's District of Columbia has 3 red stars, each symbolizing a city state within the three city empire. The three city empire consists of Washington D.C., London, and Vatican City. London is the corporate center of the three city states and controls the world economically. Washington's District of Columbia city state is in charge of the military, and the Vatican offers spiritual guidance. The constitution of the district of Columbia operates under a tyrannical roman law known as lex fori, which in no way resembles the U.S. constitution.
When congress passed the act of 1871, it created a separate corporate government for the District of Columbia. This allowed the District of Columbia to operate as a corporation outside the constitution.
If you take a moment to study some signed treaties and charters between the United States and Britain, you will find that the United States has always been a British crowned Colony. In 1606, King James (yes, the King James who revised the bible) signed the charter of Virginia. The charter granted Americas British forefathers a license to settle and colonize America. The charter also guaranteed future kings and queens of England would have sovereign authority over all citizens and colonized land in America.
In 1783, the Paris peace treaty was signed. This treaty identifies the King of England as the prince of the United States contradicting the belief that America won the war of independence. And although King George III of England gave up most claims over his American colonies, he kept his right to continue receiving payments for his business ventures of colonizing America. If America won the war of independence, why would the agree to pay reparations to the king.
When the 13th amendment to the constitution was passed, the U.S. president was made subservient to the King of England. The 13th Amendment (the title of nobility amendment) forbids U.S. officials from using royal titles like king, or prince. For some strange reason though, the 13th amendment which was ratified in 1810 no longer appears in current copies of the U.S. constitution.
The war of independence against the British bankrupted America and turned its citizens into debt slaves of the king. In 1812, the British torched and burned the white house and all U.S. government buildings to the ground, destroying many ratification records of the U.S. constitution.
Then, nearly a century later, a corrupt U.S. congress committed the biggest theft in world history. They passed Paul Warburgs federal reserve act of 1913, handing over Americas gold and silver reserves (and total control of Americas economy) to the federal reserve bank. Most Americans still believe the FED is owned by the government, but it is not. The FED is a privately owned banking system whose majority class A shareholders include the Rothschild's, Warburgs, J.P. Morgan, the Rockefeller's and the Lehman brothers.
Most U.S. citizens believe the United States is a country and the president is its leader, but the U.S. is not a country, it is a corporation, and the president is not our leader, he is the president of the corporation of the U.S. The president, along his elected officials work for the corporation, not for the American People.
So, who owns the giant U.S. corporation? Like Canada and Australia, whose leaders are prime ministers of the queen, and whose land is called crowned land, the U.S. is just another crowned colony. Crowned colonies are controlled by the empire of the three city states. Thus, the U.S. is controlled by the three city states.
Let's get into some symbolism. At the center of each city state are giant phallic shaped stone monuments called obelisks. In D.C. the obelisk is known as the Washington monument. It was dedicated to George Washington by the Freemason Grand Lodge of the District of Columbia. The secretive brotherhood of Freemasons laid the Washington obelisks cornerstone in 1848 and contributed 22 masonic memorial stones. 250 masonic lodges financed the Washington monument obelisk including the knights templar masonic order.

The Battle of Carthage was the main engagement of the Third Punic War between the Punic city of Carthage in Africa and the Roman Republic. It was a siege operation, starting sometime between 149 and 148 BC, and ending in spring 146 BC with the sack and complete destruction of the city of Carthage. After a Roman army under Manius Manilius landed in Africa in 149 BC, Carthage surrendered and handed over hostages and arms. After a Roman army under Manius Manilius landed in Africa in 149 BC, Carthage surrendered and handed over hostages and arms. However, the Romans demanded the complete surrender of the city, and surprisingly to the Romans the city refused, the faction advocating submission overturned by one in favor of defense.
The Carthaginians manned the walls and defied the Romans, a situation which lasted for two years. In this period, the 500,000 Carthaginians inside the wall transformed the town into a huge arsenal. They produced about 300 swords, 500 spears, 140 shields and 1,000 projectiles for catapults daily.
The Romans elected the young but popular Scipio Aemilianus as consul, a special law being passed to lift the age restriction. Scipio restored discipline, defeated the Carthaginians at Nepheris, and besieged the city closely, constructing a mole to block the harbor.
In spring 146 BC, the Romans broke through the city wall but they were hard-pressed to take the city. Every building, house and temple had been turned into a stronghold and every Carthaginian had taken up a weapon. The Romans were forced to move slowly, capturing the city house by house, street by street and fighting each Carthaginian soldier who fought with courage born of despair. Eventually after hours upon hours of house-to-house fighting, the Carthaginians surrendered. An estimated 50,000 surviving inhabitants were sold into slavery. The city was then leveled. The land surrounding Carthage was eventually declared ager publicus, and it was shared between local farmers, and Roman and Italian ones.
Before the end of the battle, a dramatic event took place: 900 survivors, most of them Roman deserters, had found refuge in the temple of Eshmun, in the citadel of Byrsa, although it was already burning. They negotiated their surrender, but Scipio Aemilianus expressed that forgiveness was impossible either for Hasdrubal, the general who defended the city, or for the defectors. Hasdrubal then left the Citadel to surrender and pray for mercy (he had tortured Roman prisoners in front of the Roman army). At that moment Hasdrubal's wife allegedly went out with her two children, insulted her husband, sacrificed her sons and jumped with them into a fire that the deserters had started. The deserters too then hurled themselves into the flames, upon which Scipio Aemilianus began weeping. He recited a sentence from Homer's Iliad, a prophecy about the destruction of Troy, that could be applied now to Carthage's end. Scipio declared that the fate of Carthage might one day be Rome's. In the words of Polybius:
Scipio, when he looked upon the city as it was utterly perishing and in the last throes of its complete destruction, is said to have shed tears and wept openly for his enemies. After being wrapped in thought for long, and realizing that all cities, nations, and authorities must, like men, meet their doom; that this happened to Ilium, once a prosperous city, to the empires of Assyria, Media, and Persia, the greatest of their time, and to Macedonia itself, the brilliance of which was so recent, either deliberately or the verses escaping him, he said:
A day will come when sacred Troy shall perish,
And Priam and his people shall be slain.
And when Polybius speaking with freedom to him, for he was his teacher, asked him what he meant by the words, they say that without any attempt at concealment he named his own country, for which he feared when he reflected on the fate of all things human. Polybius actually heard him and recalls it in his history.
Since the 19th century, various historians have claimed that the Romans plowed over the city and sowed salt into the soil after destroying it, but this is not supported by ancient sources.

They negotiated their surrender, but Scipio Aemilianus expressed that forgiveness was impossible either for Hasdrubal, the general who defended the city, or for the defectors. Hasdrubal then left the Citadel to surrender and pray for mercy (he had tortured Roman prisoners in front of the Roman army). At that moment Hasdrubal's wife allegedly went out with her two children, insulted her husband, sacrificed her sons and jumped with them into a fire that the deserters had started. The deserters too then hurled themselves into the flames, upon which Scipio Aemilianus began weeping. He recited a sentence from Homer's Iliad, a prophecy about the destruction of Troy, that could be applied now to Carthage's end. Scipio declared that the fate of Carthage might one day be Rome's. In the words of Polybius:
Scipio, when he looked upon the city as it was utterly perishing and in the last throes of its complete destruction, is said to have shed tears and wept openly for his enemies. After being wrapped in thought for long, and realizing that all cities, nations, and authorities must, like men, meet their doom; that this happened to Ilium, once a prosperous city, to the empires of Assyria, Media, and Persia, the greatest of their time, and to Macedonia itself, the brilliance of which was so recent, either deliberately or the verses escaping him, he said:
A day will come when sacred Troy shall perish,
And Priam and his people shall be slain.
And when Polybius speaking with freedom to him, for he was his teacher, asked him what he meant by the words, they say that without any attempt at concealment he named his own country, for which he feared when he reflected on the fate of all things human. Polybius actually heard him and recalls it in his history.
Since the 19th century, various historians have claimed that the Romans plowed over the city and sowed salt into the soil after destroying it, but this is not supported by ancient sources.
