In music, the third factor of a chord is the note or pitch two scale degrees above the root or tonal center. When the third is the bass note, or lowest note, of the expressed triad, the chord is in first inversion Play .
Conventionally, the third is third in importance to the root and fifth, with first inversion being the second strongest inversion and the third in all primary triads (I, IV, V and i, iv, v) being variable, major or minor. In jazz chords and theory, the third is required due to it determining chord quality.
The third in both major and augmented chords is major (E♮ in C) and the third in both minor and diminished chords is minor (E♭ in C).
In music and music theory, a tenth is the note ten scale degrees from the root of a chord and also the interval between the root and the tenth.
Since there are only seven degrees in a diatonic scale the tenth degree is the same as the mediant and the interval of a tenth is a compound third.
The Third (Japanese: ザ・サード, Hepburn: Za Sādo) is a light novel series, that has also been made into manga and anime series by Ryo Hoshino (星野亮, Hoshino Ryō) and illustrated by Nao Goto (後藤なお, Gotō Nao). The anime series goes under the name The Third: Aoi Hitomi no Shōjo (ザ・サード~蒼い瞳の少女~, Za Sādo - Aoi Hitomi no Shōjo, "The Third: The Girl with the Blue Eye"). According to the New York Comic Convention, The Third has been licensed by Kadokawa Pictures U.S.A. and is distributed by Nozomi Entertainment for U.S. release. The anime was released in summer of 2007.
The series is set many years after a devastating war, which killed 80% of the Earth's population. Earth is being watched by a group of beings known as The Third from a city called Hyperius. They are named after a red jewel-like eye on their forehead (Space Eye) that serves as a port for data access and other types of communication. These beings are committed to protecting the humans from harm. One of the main ways is to protect the humans is to control the amount of "technos" or technology that the humans have access to, known as the "technos taboo". Humans found using forbidden technos could be killed by The Third's best "autoenforcer" an AI robot named Bluebreaker.
E minor is a minor scale consisting of the pitches E, F♯, G, A, B, C, and D. Its key signature has one sharp. The E harmonic minor raises the note D to D♯.
Its relative major is G major, and its parallel major is E major.
Much of the classical guitar repertoire is in E minor, as this is a very natural key for the instrument. In standard tuning (E A D G B E), four of the instrument's six open (unfretted) strings are part of the tonic chord. The key of E minor is also popular in heavy metal music, as its tonic is the lowest note on a standard-tuned guitar.

Lage Lund (born 12 December 1978 in Skien, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz guitarist living in Brooklyn, New York.
After discarding his dream of becoming a professional skateboarder, Lund diverted his attention to music and picked up the guitar at the age of 13. He soon founded his own trio playing gigs at local clubs, and at the age of 16 he was allowed to start playing regular. While Skien, Norway might not be the most central of jazz scenes, Lund was drawn to the music. This, along with a scholarship to Berklee College of Music, led him to relocate to Boston after graduating high school. There he found a great community of musicians through the schools and through a steady gig at famed Wally’s jazz café. In 2002 a grant from the Fulbright foundation offered him the opportunity to move to New York. In 2003 he entered The Juilliard School full scholarship jazz program as the first electric guitarist in the history of the school, with graduation in 2005.

Alessio Nanni, italian classical pianist, performs the Scherzo in b minor op.20 nr.1 by Fryderyk Chopin. This first Scherzo takes A-B-A-Coda form and begins with two chords in fortissimo. At tremendous speed, a series of dramatic outbursts in the B minor tonic follows. Near the center of the piece, the music leads into a slower section in B major; finally one hears a tangible melody in the middle register, surrounded by accompaniment in both the left and upper right hands. Chopin clearly quotes in this section of the composition from an old Polish Christmas song (Lulajże Jezuniu); tempo is marked as Molto Piu Lento. The B major area dissolves as the harmony mysteriously changes character via secondary dominant. The two chords from the very start reappear, superimposed over vestiges of th...
My Favorite Things is a 1961 jazz album by John Coltrane. It is considered by many jazz critics and listeners to be a highly significant and historic recording. It was the first session recorded by Coltrane on the Atlantic label, the first to introduce his new quartet featuring McCoy Tyner (Piano), Elvin Jones (Drums) and Steve Davis (Bass) - neither Jimmy Garrison nor Reggie Workman featured as yet. It is classed as another album in which Coltrane made a break free of bop, introducing complex harmonic reworkings of such songs as "My Favorite Things", and "But Not For Me". Additionally, at a time when the soprano saxophone was considered obsolete, it demonstrated Coltrane's further investigation of the instrument's capabilities in a jazz idiom. The standard "Summertime" is notable for it...
The Chord Generator is the second Nordmann generative device. Like the Schwarzonator the patch creates chord progressions, but in a more musical language. You can create triads and tetrads by pressing only one key on the keyboard. This key is automatically the root key. You can generally choose between major and minor and add diminished or augmented additional notes. The third can be omitted. Furthermore you can invert the chord from root inversion to the third inversion and set the chord's disposition from close to open. All functions can be randomized. With the random function you can generate some pretty weird stuff. Enjoy! Download the patch @nilsnordmann.de and enjoy!

A chorded keyboard works by using combinations of finger presses to signal a keypress (for example, pressing both the first and second finger down simultaneously might send an "A", while pressing the first and third finger down might send a "B"). With 5 fingers, there are 32 possible binary combinations. Leaving out the rest state (all off), and a drag state (all on), we have 30 useful mappings. With 26 letters, that leaves just a few for high level text commands (space, delete, and enter). Here's what makes this little keyboard so exciting: - One handed use. - Bring it up anywhere by putting down all 5 fingers. - large hit area per key (since there are only 5 keys to press) allows for blind/touch-typing operation. - Contextual feedback to make learning easier (possible letters are shown ...

Check out my book: http://www.billspianopages.com/how-to-really EDIT: one chord I missed out was the minor ninth (-m9). After watching the tutorial you can probably work it out pretty easily: it's the -m7 with an added major third. Several people have asked me to make a tutorial revisiting all the basic piano chords - so here it is! There's a little bit of theory, covering how piano chords are constructed, and how you can voice and invert them on the keyboard. Most chords are built of thirds, and once you've figured out how to make major and minor thirds, and understood a couple of other basic intervals, it's pretty easy to work out all the chords you need, even if you're a relative beginner on the instrument. As always, the secret to really mastering this stuff is to spend time sittin...
UPDATE: Hello, this is Present Day Michael. I would like to point out that Past Michael chose his words poorly when he said "this chord doesn't work", and that statement has led to much anger and confusion throughout the eons (well since 2011 anyway). What he SHOULD have said was "by moving notes closer together than a minor third or farther apart than a major third, you're creating an entirely new chord that you're almost definitely not expecting, and you should watch this video https://youtu.be/Nr2XBoanNJY to understand the crazy nonsense that's happening here." The great thing about improvised YouTube videos that unexpectedly become popular is that you can never change a single thing about them ever. Present Day Michael apologizes profusely for Past Michael's mistakes. END OF TIME-WARP...
What a privilege to be asked to speak at this year's Spring Sprint on the The Third Chord of Scentsy: Providing Great Customer Service. Feb. 6, 2013. Had a marvelous time in spite of my nervousness.
A chord progression is a group of chords that travel or progress through a harmonic sequence. A progression can vary in size from two to seven or more chords. They can be either diatonic or chromatic. There are no set rules for chord progressions, although there are some sequences which tend to occur frequently. Diatonic chord progressions contain chords build on only the seven pitches within a given key signature. A triad or seventh chord can be built using each pitch of a major or minor scale as a root for the chord. These chords are given roman numeral labels that correspond to the scale degree within the key that is the root of the chord. In major keys, the diatonic triads and seventh chords are simply constructed by utilizing the root, third, fifth and seventh (in the case o...

http://bit.do/billsbook Here are the chords: F | D7 | Gm7 | C7 | F | Dm | Bb6 | C7 | F | F7 | Bb | Bbm| F,D7|Gm7,C7| F | F | This tutorial gives an overview of some of the techniques used in jazz piano. I use a simple 16-bar chord sequence to demonstrate five basic concepts. These include chord extension and substitution, using the left hand to create rhythm and harmony, and the use of scales in improvisation. In subsequent tutorials I'll look at some specific jazz piano techniques developed from this improvisation. Firstly, take a look at the chords themselves, and try to create richer chords. There are two ways to do this: extensions and substitution. Extending chords means adding notes to the basic chord, and are a useful way of making much jazzier sound. For example, in this impro...

This Learning Music With Ray video discusses chord color tones. These are the additional pitches that can be added to a chord beside the fundamental chord tones. In this video, I identify these color tones and explain the ways they can be added to both triads and seventh chords. I explain why they are sometimes named as intervals within an octave and sometimes named as upper extensions (beyond one octave). Finally, I demonstrate the acceptable uses of these color tones on the piano keyboard. The remaining intervals within the scale (beside the chord tones) are the 2nd, 4th and 6th.
