It's that time of year again! The past two years I've been uploading a 'music' video featuring clips of my past railfanning year. Since I live in the desert, the cooler temperatures that come with October breathe new life into my railfanning, so just as corporations have a 'fiscal year', I have a 'railfanning year' from Oct-Sept.
This year has been ABSOLUTELY AMAZING for the railfan nationwide, and that very much includes my main neck of the woods; BNSF's Transcon through Needles, CA. The first half of this year in particular saw many amazing locomotive consists develop, a departure from the relatively boring past 5 years. CP and Citirail became abundant in addition to more run-thru power as well as many Warbonnets being pulled from storage.
This 'best of' features clips from the greater southern California area plus northern Arizona, as well as the greater Chicagoland area.
Locations include:
All around Chicago and NW Indiana
La Grange, KY
The greater Needles, CA area
Kingman, AZ
Williams, AZ
Flagstaff, AZ
Winslow, AZ
The Tehachapi Mts
San Timoteo Canyon
Colton, CA
Specialty locomotives viewed:
AMTK 42 and 822
NS Heritage: VGN, PRR, NS, PC, ERIE
UP: Mopac, 2002 OLY
Railroads/leasers viewed:
BNSF, UP, NS, CSX, KCS, AMTK, CP, SOO, ICE, CN, IC, BCOL, GTW, IHB, IAIS, CREX, CEFX, METRA, ARCELOR MITTAL, GRAND CANYON RWY
This clip includes three songs, and like past years, are from my favorite band, The Killers. Song one is "Miss Atomic Bomb" from their Runaways album. Song two is "Losing Touch" from their Day & Age album, and song three is "A Dustland Fairytale" also from their Day & Age album.
