Brian Holland (born February 15, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan) is an American songwriter and record producer, best known as a member of Holland–Dozier–Holland, the songwriting and production team that was responsible for much of the Motown sound and numerous hit records by artists such as Martha and the Vandellas, The Supremes, The Four Tops, and The Isley Brothers. Holland, along with Lamont Dozier, served as the team's musical arranger and producer.
For a short time, Holland partnered with Robert Bateman, together known as "Brianbert", collaborating on such hits as "Please Mr. Postman" for the The Marvelettes.
Holland has also had an on-and-off career as a performer. He released a solo single in 1958 under the name of "Briant Holland". He and longtime friend and future songwriting partner Freddie Gorman were in a short-lived group called The Fidalatones, and was later (1960–62) a member of Motown recording act The Satintones as well as being a member of The Rayber Voices, a quartet that backed up several early Motown recording acts. He partnered with Lamont Dozier under the name "Holland-Dozier", releasing a lone single for Motown in 1963, then was inactive for a number of years, and was then revived in the early and mid-1970s, scoring a number of medium-sized R&B hits. Holland resumed his solo recording career in 1974, hitting the charts as a solo artist in '74 and '75.
Holland
Holland is a region in the western part of the Netherlands. The term Holland is also frequently used as a pars pro toto to refer to the whole of the Netherlands. This usage is generally accepted but disliked by Dutch people in the other parts of the Netherlands.
From the 10th century to the 16th century, Holland proper was a unified political region, a county ruled by the Counts of Holland. By the 17th century, Holland had risen to become a maritime and economic power, dominating the other provinces of the Dutch Republic.
Today, the former County of Holland consists of the two Dutch provinces of North Holland and South Holland, which together include the Netherlands' three largest cities: country capital Amsterdam; seat of government The Hague; and Rotterdam, home of Europe's largest port.
Pliny the Elder (AD 23–79) referred to this region as the land between the Helinium and Flevo ("inter Helinium ac Flevum"), the names of the mouths into which the Rhine divided itself, the first discharging its waters in the Mosa in the neighbourhood of Brielle and the second into "the lakes of the north" (present IJsselmeer). The name Holland first appeared in sources in 866 for the region around Haarlem, and by 1064 was being used as the name of the entire county. By this time, the inhabitants of Holland were referring to themselves as "Hollanders".Holland is derived from the Middle Dutch term holtland ("wooded land").[citation needed] This spelling variation remained in use until around the 14th century, at which time the name stabilised as Holland (alternative spellings at the time were Hollant and Hollandt). Popular, but incorrect etymology holds that Holland is derived from hol land ("hollow land") and was inspired by the low-lying geography of Holland.[citation needed]
The Flintstones is an animated, prime-time American television sitcom that was broadcast from September 30, 1960 to April 1, 1966, on ABC. The original pilot episode clip however was called the "Flagstones" (which first appeared in 1959 as a 90 second promotion to draw advertisers to the show) and was later reincorporated into the show's 1st episode (3rd episode in original airdate order). The show's name was changed to "The Flintstones" shortly thereafter. The show was produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions, The Flintstones was about a working class Stone Age man's life with his family and his next-door neighbor and best friend.
The show's continuing popularity rested heavily on its juxtaposition of modern everyday concerns in the Stone Age setting.
The show is set in the Stone Age town of Bedrock. (In some of the earlier episodes, it was also referred to as "Rockville"). In this fantasy version of the past, dinosaurs, saber-toothed tigers, woolly mammoths, and other long-extinct animals co-exist with cavemen. Like their mid-20th century peers, these cavemen listen to records, live in split-level homes, and eat out at restaurants, yet their technology is made entirely from pre-industrial materials and largely powered through the use of various animals. For example, the cars are made out of stone, wood, and animal skins, and powered by the passengers' feet (as in the theme song, "Through the courtesy of Fred's two feet").
Scott Joplin (ca. 1867/1868? – April 1, 1917) was an American composer and pianist. Joplin achieved fame for his ragtime compositions, and was later dubbed "The King of Ragtime". During his brief career, Joplin wrote 44 original ragtime pieces, one ragtime ballet, and two operas. One of his first pieces, the Maple Leaf Rag, became ragtime's first and most influential hit, and has been recognized as the archetypal rag.
Joplin was born into a musical African American family of laborers in Northeast Texas, and developed his musical knowledge with the help of local teachers, most notably Julius Weiss. Joplin grew up in Texarkana, where he formed a vocal quartet, and taught mandolin and guitar. During the late 1880s he left his job as a laborer with the railroad, and travelled around the American South as an itinerant musician. He went to Chicago for the World's Fair of 1893, which played a major part in making ragtime a national craze by 1897.
Joplin moved to Sedalia, Missouri in 1894, and earned a living teaching piano and going on tour across the Southern US. In Sedalia, he taught future ragtime composers Arthur Marshall, Scott Hayden and Brun Campbell. Joplin began publishing music in 1895, and publication of his Maple Leaf Rag in 1899 brought him fame and had a profound influence on subsequent writers of ragtime. It also brought the composer a steady income for life. During his lifetime, Joplin did not reach this level of success again and frequently had financial problems.
Sue Keller (born on July 7, 1952, in Allentown, PA, USA) is an American ragtime, blues and jazz pianist and singer, who has released several albums. She studied flute and took voice lessons, played guitar, and sang in school operas. After a wide variety of musical jobs (including playing rock), she started concentrating more on vintage jazz and ragtime. In 1992, Sue Keller established Ragtime Press to publish rags by little-known composers, and the HVR label to document her music. On YouTube there are a number of videos of her performing music by Laura Nyro, W. C. Handy, Scott Joplin, Ray Charles and others. Keller is a graduate of DePauw University.
Sue Keller functioned as the festival Artistic Director for the Scott Joplin International Ragtime Foundation from 2003 through 2009 and was honored with the foundation's 2010 Scott Joplin Award for distinguished lifetime achievement and support of ragtime.
Once I was a king, I thought always a king
'Cause I just captured someone's heart
But may I explain, I treated her mean
And then my kingdom fell apart
I found I couldn't sleep at night
And when I found her gone from sight
Found out I loved her
Became a joker
The joker went wild and he couldn't smile
Because he had lost everything
The joker went wild and he couldn't smile
He felt no longer like a king
Some friendly advice, treat her heart nice
Or she won't stay for very long if at all
If you think you're a king and you know everything
Just remember, the joker or you'll fall from her arms
You'll find you cannot sleep at night
And when you find her gone from sight
You'll find you loved her
Become a joker
The joker went wild and he couldn't smile
Because he had lost everything
[CHORUS]
That's how much
Uh huh, uh huh, uh huh
That's how much
Yeah, yeah, yeah
That's how much
I love you
(Yeah, I love you)
Pick a number from one to ten
Double it and add a million
[Repeat CHORUS]
Count the miles from here to Mars
Triple it and add a trillion
[Repeat CHORUS]
Although I'm not a mathematical genius
At least I know the score
Who cares how far to Venus
When you live right next door
Oh, count the pebbles on every beach
Triple it and add a trillion
[Repeat CHORUS]
Who cares how far to Venus
When you live right next door
[Repeat CHORUS]
Who cares how far to Venus
When you live right next door
(Yeah, yeah, yeah)
(Right next door)
Count the pebbles on every beach
Triple it and add a trillion
Why can't you stay and love me all summer?
Don't go on vacation
I can't live through the separation
Stay in town, girlstay around, girlI need
Why can't you stay and love me all summer?
Why can't you stay and love me all summer?
Last year we were parted
Till September I was downhearted
Skies are so gray when you're away, so baby
Why can't you stay and love me all summer?
Why can't you stay and love me all summer?
They say there is no place like home
But I can't face this place called home alone
Pity, have some pity
Spend your summer here in the city
Share my warm nights, share the bright lightsI want you
Why can't you stay and love me all summer?
Come over to the window my little darling
I'd like to try to read your palm
I used to think I was some sort of before
I let you take me home
So long, Marianne.
It's time we began
to laugh, and cry, and cry,
and laugh about it all again
Well you know that I love to live with you
but you make me forget so very much
I forget to pray for the angels
and then the angels forget to pray for us
So long, Marianne.
It's time we began
to laugh, and cry, and cry,
and laugh about it all again
Oh, you're really such a pretty one
I see you've gone and changed your name again
And just when I climbed this whole mountainside
to wash my eyelids in the rain
So long, Marianne.
It's time we began
to laugh, and cry, and cry,
and laugh about it all again
So long, Marianne.
Run, run, look and see
Run, run, look and see
I thought I saw you yesterday
I could have sworn you`d passed my way
But it was too good to be true
And there was nothing I could do
CHORUS:
My heart says:
Run, run, look and see
Are my eyes just foolin` me?
While I`m runnin`, I keep prayin`
All the time my heart keeps sayin`:
Run, run, look and see
Run, run, look and see
Each time I hear our favorite song
I can`t believe you`re really gone
I hear your voice, I see your face
But then you`re gone without a trace
(chorus)
Each time I see a crowd I stare
Just hopin` someday you`ll be there
My heart says:
Run, run, look and see
Run, run, look and see
(instrumental)
(repeat last 2 lines of verse 2, then chorus)
Paper DollI'm gonna buy a Paper Doll that I can call my
A doll that other fellows cannot steal
And then the flirty, flirty guys with their flirty,
flirty eyes
Will have to flirt with dollies that are real
When I come home at night she will be waiting
She'll be the truest doll in all this world
I'd rather have a Paper Doll to call my own
Than have a fickle-minded real live girl
I guess I had a million dolls or more
I guess I've played the doll game o'er and o'er
I just quarrelled with Sue, that's why I'm blue
She's gone away and left me just like all dolls do
I'll tell you boy, it's tough to be alone
And it's tough to love a gal that's not your own
I'm through with all of them
I'll never fall again
Bop bop bop bop bopopopopopopop
She was afraid to come out of the locker
She was as nervous as she could be
She was afraid to come out of the locker
She was afraid that somebody would see
Two three four tell the people what she wore
It was an Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini
That she wore for the first time today
An Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini
So in the locker, she wanted to stay
Two three four stick around we'll tell you more
Bop bop bop bop bopopopopopopop
She was afraid to come out in the open (badadup)
So a blanket around her she wore (badadup)
She was afraid to come out in the open (badadup)
So she sat, bundled up on the shore (badadup)
Two three four tell the people what she wore
It was an Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini
That she wore for the first time today
An Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini
So in the blanket, she wanted to stay
Two three four the stick around we'll tell you more
Bop bop bop bop bopopopopopopop
Now she's afraid to come out of the water
And I wonder what she's gonna do
Now she's afraid to come out of the water
And the poor little girl's turning blue
Two thee four tell the people what she wore
It was an Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini
That she wore for the first time today
An Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini
So in the water, she wanted to stay
From the Locker to the blanket
From the blanket to the shore
From the shore to the water
There should be a holiday for clowns
There should be a big parade downtown
So girls like you could see
What fools you've made of guys like me
A day that clowns don't have to hide
The feelings that they have inside, oh
There should be a holiday for clowns
A day for guys like me to paint the town
Festive clown affair
To make believe that we don't care
A special day, a holiday for clowns
Time after time I have tried to say goodbye to you
But somehow, when I try to leave you
I just can't go; I love you so
If there could be a holiday for clowns
I would lead a big parade downtown
& see you standin' there
& tell myself that I don't care
But we both know that that's not true
Tomorrow I'll be back lovin' you, oh
There should be a holiday for clowns
There should be a big parade downtown
If I could have my way
Just once a year, there'd be a day
A special day, a holiday for clowns
From nowhere through a caravan
Around the campfire light
A lovely woman in motion
With hair as dark as night
Her eyes were like that of a cat in the dark
That hypnotized me with love
She was a gypsy woman,
She was a gypsy woman
She danced around and round to a guitar melody
From the fire her face was all aglow
How she enchanted me
Oh, how I'd love to hold her near
And kiss and forever whisper in her ear
I love you, gypsy woman
I love you, gypsy woman
All through the caravan
She was dancing with all the men
Waiting for the rising sun
Everyone was having fun
I hate to see the lady go
Knowing she'll never know
That I love her, I love her
She was a gypsy woman
I only met you just a couple of days ago
I only met you and I want your lovin' so
Ginny-Come-Lately, sweet, sweet as can be-ee-ee-ee
You may have come lately but Ginny-Come-Lately
You're the one for me
I only had to see the sunlight in your hair
Your soft, soft silhouette to know I'd always care
Ginny-Come-Lately, sweet, sweet as can be-ee-ee-ee
You may have come lately but Ginny-Come-Lately
You're the one for me
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
You only had to smile a little smile
Do nothing more than look at me
You only had to smile and in a little while
I was dreamin' recklessly-ee-ee-ee
I only met you just a couple of days ago
And oh, my love for you has no more room to grow
Ginny-Come-Lately, my dream come true-ooh-ooh-ooh
You may have come lately but Ginny-Come-Lately
(Clickety clack)
(Clickety clack)
Two little girls came walking down the avenue
Two little girls who had nothing to do
One wore yellow and the other wore black
And four little heels went clickety clack
Me and my friend came walking down the avenue
Just like the girls we had nothing to do
So we both whistled but they wouldn't look back
And four little heels went clickety clack
(Clickety clack) what a pretty pair
Walking along with their noses in the air
(Clickety clack) and then to our surprise
They started to talk to two other guys
Now me and my friend are walking down the avenue.
Me and my friend still have nothing to do
Gone are the girls dressed in yellow and black.
And four little heels going clickety clack
(Clickety clack) we were pretty mad
Thinking of the fun that we could have had
(Clickety clack) and then to our surprise
They walked away from the two other guys
Now me and my friend are walking down the avenue
Me and my friend walking two by two
We've got the girls dressed in yellow and black
And four little heels going clickety clack
(Clickety clack)
(Clickety clack)
(Clickety clack)
Though we've got to say good-bye
For the summer
Darling, I promise you this
I'll send you all my love
Everyday in a letter
Sealed with a kiss
CHORUS:
Yes it's gonna be cool, lonely summer
But I'll fill the emptiness
I'll send you all my dreams
Everyday in a letter
Sealed with a kiss
I'll see you in the sunlight
I'll hear your voice everywhere
I'll run to tenderly hold you
But, Darlin' you won't be there
I don't wanna say good-bye
For the summer
Knowing the love we'll miss
Let us make a pledge
To meet in September
And seal it with a kiss
(instrumental)
(CHORUS)
Sealed with a kiss
Sealed with a kiss
Wind and storm, goes the sun
From the stars, my dark has come
You've gone from me, oh, oh, tragedy
Oh come back, have me near
Hold me love, be sincere
You've gone from me, oh, oh, tragedy
Like smoke from a fire of love, oh, oh
Our dreams have all gone above, oh, oh
Blown by wind, kissed by snow
All that's left is a dark below
You've gone from me, oh, oh, tragedy
Oh come back, have me here
Hold me love, be sincere
I see I've gotta be headin' for pain
I see a broken heart wearin' my name
You're handin' me, sure as stars up above
Warmed over kisses, left over love
You've got another love you're runnin' to
You've been a-cheatin' in some rendezvous
You're handin' me, sure as stars up above
Warmed over kisses, left over love
You say that I'm the only one
Oh how I wanted to be
But when I kiss your pretty lips
You got nothin' left for me
You've gotta wanna be breakin' my heart
I know we've gotta be driftin' apart
You're handin' me, sure as stars up above
Warmed over kisses, left over love
You're handin' me, sure as stars up above
The moon turned blue
the stars did too
the night you left me
the night I cried
the night I cried.
The wind blew cold
and night grew old
the night you left me
the night I cried
the night I cried.
I left a helpless feeling
deep within my heart
and as I watched you walk away
my whole world fell apart.
Thou' time will pass
I won't forget
the night you left me
the night I cried.
I left a helpless feeling
deep within my heart
and as I watched you walk away
my whole world fell apart.
Thou' time will pass
I won't forget
the night you left me
the night I cried
the night I cried
Rosemary, Rosemary, please take my hand
& walk with me through Lovers' Land
Rosemary, Rosemary, by stars above
I vow right now, you'll have my love
(x2):
You are like an angel dressed in white, so heavenly
You can answer all my prayers tonight by loving me
Rosemary, Rosemary, please say you're mine
So I can love you all the time
Walk along the lake with someone new
Have yourself a summer fling or two
But remember I'm in love with you and
Save your heart for me
When the summer moon is on the rise
And you're dancin' under starlit skies
Please don't let the stars get in your eyes, just
Save your heart for me
When you're all alone, far away from home
Someone's gonna flirt with you
I won't think it's wrong if you play along
Just don't fall for someone new
When the autumn winds begin to blow
And the summertime is long ago
You'll be in my arms again I know, so
Save your heart for me
Darlin', save your heart for me
Please remember I'm in love with you and
Save your heart for me
Lonely Teardrops
My pillows never dry off
Lonely Teardrops
Come Home, Come Home
Just Say You Will, Say You Will (Say You Will)
Say You Will (Say You WIll)
Hey, Hey (Say You Will)
My Heart Is Fine, Fine
Lonely Teardrops
My pillows never dry off
Lonely Teardrops
Come Home, Come Home
Just Say You Will, Say You Will (Say You Will)
Say You Will (Say You WIll)
Hey, Hey (Say You Will)
Just Give Me Another Chance
For our Romance
Come On And Tell Me
That One Day You'll Return
Cause Everyday That You've Been Gone Away
You'll Know Why My Heart Does Nothing But Burn
[Crying]
Lonely Teardrops
My pillows never dry off
Lonely Teardrops
Come Home, Come Home
Just Say You Will, Say You Will (Say You Will)
Say You Will (Say You Will)
Hey, Hey (Say You Will)
Say It Right Now Baby (Say You Will)
Come On, Come On (Say You Will)
Say It Darling Yeah! (Say You Will)
Make me your slave
Tie me down, make me behave
Let me belong to you
Make me be true
Tell me what I can do
Let me belong to you
Bridge:
I don`t wanna be free
Like a wave on the sea
No place special to go
But toss to and fro
Oh make me your own
Never never leave me alone
Make all my dreams come true
Let me belong to you
(speak verse 1)
I can't seem to quite
Get through to you, baby
Looks like your reception
Isn't too clear
We must be tuned in to
Two different wavelengths
You just don't hear
[CHORUS]
Get the message that I'm sending
With a heartbeat never ending
Can you hear me when you're near me
Do you read me, do you need me
Please receive me, please believe me
'Cause I love you, yes, I love you
Get the message, get the message
What I'm trying to
Tell you is very simple
We've been communicating
This way for years
If you still don't
Understand what I'm saying
Just look at my tears
[Repeat CHORUS]
That I'm sending
With a heartbeat never ending
If I can see this one night through
Maybe I'll get over you
And realize our love was never right
But I may not live to see tomorrow
I may die of a broken heart tonight
If I'm around when daylight breaks
Lyrics courtesy Top40db.
I may find the strength it takes
To love again and make things
Come out right
But I may not live to see tomorrow
I may die of a broken heart tonight
I tell myself tomorrow's
Gonna be a better day
But tomorrow seems to be
A century away
If I survive the morning dew
Maybe I'll find someone new
And start again to build
A brand new life
But I may not live to see tomorrow
I may die of a broken heart tonight
No, I may not live to see tomorrow
Baby Face,
you've got the cutest little baby face
There's not another one could take your place
Baby face
My poor heart is jumpin you sure have started somethin
Baby face,
I'm up in heaven when I'm in your fond embrace
I didn't need a shove cause I just fell in love
With your pretty baby face
Baby Face,
you've got the cutest little baby face
There's not another one could take your place
Baby face
My poor heart is jumpin you sure have started somethin
Baby face,
I'm up in heaven when I'm in your fond embrace
I didn't need a shove cause I just fell in love
You'll never lose me
I'll always be true
And I'll never stop wanting you
I'll stand beside you
When your dreams fall through
And I'll never stop wanting you
Your kiss will always thrill me
In the same old way
Your touch will mean as much
Tomorrow as it does today
So don't worry, baby
Whatever you do
Cause I'll never stop wanting you
Your kiss will always thrill me
In the same old way
Your touch will mean as much
Tomorrow as it does today
So don't worry, baby
Whatever you do
Cause I'll never stop
No, I'll never stop
Your face is a masterpiece
A lovely, unusual and unique
Work of art to explore
I can't resist the urge
To steal a glance at you
But when I do
I just can't stop
I have to look at you some more
And I get hung up in your eyes
Hung up on your smile
And I can't concentrate
On anything but you
I get hung up in your eyes
Hung up on your smile
I get so hung up on you
Your eyes seem to say to me
I want you, I need you
Can't you see that
I feel that way too
Somehow the way you look
Has got ahold of me
How can it be
I wanna need you more
Each time I look at you
And I get hung up in your eyes
Hung up on your smile
And I can't concentrate
On anything but you
I get hung up in your eyes
Hung up on your smile
I get so hung up on you
I get hung up in your eyes
Hung up on your smile
And I can't concentrate
On anything but you
I get hung up in your eyes
Hung up on your smile
I get so hung up on you
I get hung up in your eyes
Hung up on your smile
And I can't concentrate
I won't be there if Mary's there
I'm still in love with her
I couldn't bear to see her there
I'd be alone and blue
She'd be with someone new
Without a care
I won't be there if Mary's there
I love her too much
We'd be but just a kiss away
And never ever touch
It isn't fair to ask me there
I know I'll only cry
I won't be there if Mary's there
I'll love her till I die
I couldn't bear to see her there
I'll only cry
No I won't be there if Mary's there
I'm afraid to go home, I'm afraid to go home
Worries on my mind, afraid of what I'll find
Will my family be gone? I'm afraid to go home
Back to Tennessee, afraid of what I'll see
As I walk down this dusty road, got a heart with a heavy load
Ain't one thing that's the same, so much sorrow and pain
Headin' home in a single file, every inch is a quarter mile
Ain't heard nobody sing, ain't seen one livin' thing
Someone's waitin' for me, honey sweet as candy
Wanna hold her tightLord, make her be all right
Maybe 'round on next bend, all the ashes of land
Valleys will be green instead of what I've seen
I'm afraid for the scrubby pine, for the sweet honeysuckle vine
I'm afraid for my home, for the fields that I roamed
Kick along down a homeward road, and your heart's gotta take the load
I'm afraid to go home, I'm afraid to go home
Sherman's been in my town, burned it all to the ground
Now there's not a tree 'tween Memphis and the Sea
I heard a whisper that touched deep inside my soul
Like some familiar melody
A hidden chapter from a story left untold
I gotta feeling, I could believe in
[chorus]
There is an angel in my heart
Feels like I'm guided by a candle in the dark
Its taken all this time
To finally find out what I could never see
An angel in my heart
You were there 4 me
Now there is no doubt that there will always be
An angel in my heart
You were the friend, You were the one I could confide
You gave me strength that I could never find
Deep emotions that's I've always been denying
I believe in, its so close now, its You that
I'm feeling
[chorus]
Finally found what I been searching for
(all my life)
It was right before my eyes
Oh u are my angel
I know You'll always be there
You are my one and only angel
To finally found find what I could never see
(You were there for me)
Now there is no doubt that there will always be
Was I wrong to think that you
Could live like I'm accustomed to?
Your daddy's rich, you could have married
A millionaire or dignitary
But you chose meare you happy?
Or sometimes is your mind
3000 Miles away, 3000 miles away
To a life that could have been?
A wife you could have been
I can just give you love, but is that good enough?
When there's a tear in your eye
It makes me almost wanna die
I think of what you threw away
To live hand to mouth from day to day
And I wonder, do you think of it too?
Or sometimes is your mind
3000 Miles away, 3000 miles away
To a life that could have been?
A wife you could have been
I can just give you love, but is that good enough?
So I must love you a little bit more, kiss you a little bit more
Hope you're satisfied so you won't wander
3000 Miles away, 3000 miles away
To a life that could have been?
A wife you could have been
Dilly Dally
Silly Silly Sally
Oh Oh Oh
Dont Dilly Dally Sally
You know I'm stuck on you
Well, Susie's not so choosy
And Ella needs a fella
And she's got her eyes on me
Dont Dilly Dally Sally
You know I'm stuck on you
Well, Susie's not so choosy
And Ella needs a fella
And she's got her eyes on me
You're not the only girl

Could you dig standin' by my side?
Could you dig it, baby?
Please let me know
'Cause I know I could love you oh
Could you dig bein' my girl?
Could you dig settin' the world on fire?
Could you dig it, baby?
Please let me know
'Cause I know I could love you oh
Won't you be my girl?
I know your heart is filled with mixed emotions
I'll give you all my love, all my devotion
Could you dig it, dig it, dig it?
Could you dig bein' mine forever?
Could you love me, love me love me, tell me you would?
Could you dig it, baby?
Please let me know
'Cause I know I could love you oh
Won't you be my girl?
Could you dig it?
----------
The thrill is gone
The thrill is gone away
The thrill is gone baby
The thrill is gone away
You know you done me wrong baby
And you'll be sorry someday
The thrill is gone
It's gone away from me
The thrill is gone baby
The thrill is gone away from me
Although I'll still live on
But so lonely I'll be
The thrill is gone
It's gone away for good
Oh, the thrill is gone baby
Baby its gone away for good
Someday I know I'll be over it all baby
Just like I know a man should
You know I'm free, free now baby
I'm free from your spell
I'm free, free now
I'm free from your spell
And now that it's over
[CHORUS]
That's how much
Uh huh, uh huh, uh huh
That's how much
Yeah, yeah, yeah
That's how much
I love you
(Yeah, I love you)
Pick a number from one to ten
Double it and add a million
[Repeat CHORUS]
Count the miles from here to Mars
Triple it and add a trillion
[Repeat CHORUS]
Although I'm not a mathematical genius
At least I know the score
Who cares how far to Venus
When you live right next door
Oh, count the pebbles on every beach
Triple it and add a trillion
[Repeat CHORUS]
Who cares how far to Venus
When you live right next door
[Repeat CHORUS]
Who cares how far to Venus
When you live right next door
(Yeah, yeah, yeah)
(Right next door)
Count the pebbles on every beach
Triple it and add a trillion
A million to one
That's what our folks think
About this love of ours
A million to one
They're saying our love will fade
Like yesterday's flowers
They're betting everything
That our love won't survive
They're hoping in time
We'll forget each other's alive
A million to one
They feel we're too young
To know the meaning of love
A million to one
That they've forgotten the dreams
That we're dreaming of
But we'll forgive them
Because we love them
After all is said and done
They're one in a million
A million to one
But we'll forgive them
Because we love them
After all is said and done
They're one in a million
Are you lonesome tonight,
Do you miss me tonight?
Are you sorry we drifted apart?
Does your memory stray to a brighter sunny day
When I kissed you and called you sweetheart?
Do the chairs in your parlor seem empty and bare?
Do you gaze at your doorstep and picture me there?
Is your heart filled with pain, shall I come back again?
Tell me dear, are you lonesome tonight?
I wonder if youre lonesome tonight
You know someone said that the worlds a stage
And each must play a part.
Fate had me playing in love you as my sweet heart.
Act one was when we met, I loved you at first glance
You read your line so cleverly and never missed a cue
Then came act two, you seemed to change and you acted strange
And why Ill never know.
Honey, you lied when you said you loved me
And I had no cause to doubt you.
But Id rather go on hearing your lies
Than go on living without you.
Now the stage is bare and Im standing there
With emptiness all around
And if you wont come back to me
Then make them bring the curtain down.
Is your heart filled with pain, shall I come back again?
CHORUS:
Bye bye love
Bye bye happiness, hello loneliness
I think I'm-a gonna cry-y
Bye bye love, bye bye sweet caress, hello emptiness
I feel like I could di-ie
Bye bye my love goodby-eye
There goes my baby with-a someone new
She sure looks happy, I sure am blue
She was my baby till he stepped in
Goodbye to romance that might have been
CHORUS
I'm-a through with romance, I'm a-through with love
I'm through with a'countin' the stars above
And here's the reason that I'm so free
My lovin' baby is through with me
CHORUS
Bye bye my love goodby-eye
Bye bye my love goodby-eye
FADE: Bye bye my love goodby-eye
