Christopher Fynsk has been the Director of the Centre for Modern Thought as well as the head of the School of Language and Literature at the University of Aberdeen since 2005. He also currently holds the Maurice Blanchot Chair for Continental Philosophy at the European Graduate School in Saas-Fee, Switzerland. Previously he taught at SUNY Binghamton where he was co-director and founder of the Philosophy, Literature and Theory of Criticism department. Internationally recognized as a Heidegger scholar and literary theorist, Christopher Fynsk has worked extensively with Philipe Lacou-labarthe and Jean Luc Nancy as well as others over the course of his career. Quando morirò (forse tra breve), conoscerò un piacere immenso. Non parlo del pregustare la morte che è insulso e spesso sgradevole. Il soffrire abbrutisce. La grande verità di cui sono sicuro è invece questa: provo nel vivere un piacere senza limiti e avrò nel morire una soddisfazione senza limiti. Ho vagato, sono passato da un posto all'altro. Stabile, ho abitato in una sola camera. Sono stato povero, poi più ricco, poi molto più povero. Da bambino, avevo grandi passioni, e tutto quel che desideravo, lo ottenevo. La mia infanzia è sparita, la mia giovinezza è sulle strade. Non importa: ciò che è stato, mi rende felice; ciò che è, mi piace; ciò che avviene, mi conviene. La mia esistenza è migliore di quella degli altri? Può darsi. Ho un tetto, molti non ce l'hanno. Non ho la lebbra, non sono cieco, vedo il mondo, fortuna immensa.
