Lewis (Scottish Gaelic: Leòdhas, pronounced [ʎɔː.əs̪], also Isle of Lewis) is the northern part of Lewis and Harris, the largest island of the Western Isles or Outer Hebrides (an archipelago) of Scotland. The total area of Lewis is 683 square miles (1,770 km2).
Lewis is, in general, the lower lying part of the island, with the other part, Harris, being more mountainous. The flatter, more fertile land means Lewis contains the largest settlement, Stornoway, and three-quarters of the population of the Western Isles. Beyond human habitation, the island's diverse habitats are home to an assortment of flora and fauna, such as the golden eagle, red deer and seals and are recognised in a number of conservation areas.
Lewis is of Presbyterian tradition with a rich history, having once been part of the Norse Kingdom of Mann and the Isles. Today, life is very different from elsewhere in Scotland with Sabbath observance, the Gaelic language and peat cutting retaining more importance than elsewhere. Lewis has a rich cultural heritage as can be seen from its myths and legends as well as the local literary and musical traditions.
Lewis Frederick Urry ((1927-01-29)January 29, 1927 – October 19, 2004(2004-10-19) (aged 77)) was a Canadian chemical engineer and inventor. He invented both the alkaline battery and lithium battery while working for the Eveready Battery company.
Urry was born January 19, 1927 in Pontypool, Ontario and graduated with a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Toronto in 1950, having previously spent time serving in the Canadian army. He went to work for Eveready a few months after graduating. He was married to Beverley Ann (died) 1993 and they had 3 sons and 2 daughters. He died October 19 2004, and is buried in Butternut Ridge Cemetery, in Eaton Township, Ohio.
In 1955 Urry was dispatched to the company's laboratory in Parma, Ohio in order to discover a way of extending the life span of the zinc-carbon battery. The low longevity of these batteries had been seriously damaging sales. Urry realized that developing a new battery would be more cost-effective than developing the old ones further.
A Video Project done by me and a couple of friends at school. Project 2 videoooo!! It's about Lewis Urry and the invention of the battery and what life would be like if batteries were never invented... yeah. This was uber super douper last minute so don't mind the mistakes and uhh, weirdness... 29 de Janeiro de 1927 Nasce Lewis Frederick Urry, engenheiro químico canadense, inventor das pilhas alcalinas e das baterias de lítio.

John Urry explores the negative aspects of globalisations and explains the tremendous impact that offshoring has upon all of us. All viewers ages 18 and up, please! This video contains the legal use of medical cannabis, legaly protected in the state of Washington, under RCW69.51a I vape a few bowls, and do a dab of the Chem4. I also just talk like i always do. I bring up why i wear my red shorts in my videos, and that gets me talking about how much people care about me, and the things I do. Not the things i wear, but the things i put in my body. Over the last year, ive gotten so many comments from people telling me im doing negetive things to my body. Yet not 1 of them has ever even met me. I just am amazed that they care so much about me. I could only imagine how much they care about people they actuly know, if they care that much abotu peopel they dont know. Such loving people!!!
Find me on my new Facebook thingyjig - http://facebook.com/cheefdj Electro mix time. Enjoyed this one, mainly because I'd only just got the tracks and only briefly previewed each before buying, so didn't know them beforehand. Just threw them together to see what came out. Some setup changes: I exchanged the RCF Ayra 6 monitors for a pair of KRK Rokit RP8's (approx £400). Excellent sound production and on a par (if not better due to a larger 8" woofer) than a set of Adam A7X's at £800. Also got rid of the notebook riser. It wasn't very good, so killed two birds with one stone (wanting to get some protection for the controller) and got hold of a flight case. That's enough purchases for now, on with the tunes... *************** TRACK LIST *************** Evensong (Michael Woods Remix)...

A video of Tim Stonor speaking on the subject of: "Move, interact, transact - the human dimension of Smart Cities", at the invitation of the organisers of the British Business Summit, Istanbul, Turkey. "My talk is about the behaviour of people in smart cities and the importance that should be given to well-designed public spaces, pedestrian links and cycling networks. My keyword is "transaction" - that the Smart City is a place that enhances the ability of people to trade both socially and economically. We have historically not been good at analysing and forecasting the movement of people in the fine-grain of the city and, because of this, we have designed too much for the car and too little for the important face-to-face contact that only happens when people become pedestrians. As a re...
Please Subscribe our goal is 5000 subscriber for this year :) Prior to the rise of electrical generators and electrical power grids from around the end of the 19th century, batteries were the main source of electricity. Successive improvements in battery technology permitted the rise of major electrical advances, from early scientific studies to the rise of telegraphs and telephones, leading eventually to portable computers, mobile phones, electric cars and multitudes of other electrical devices. This is goodbye
and I know that this is goodbye
lovers come and lovers go
love is lost before you know
don't think of me alone tonight
on my own gonna be alright
don't stay up late wondering
what has gone or could have been
trying hard to forget the past I always knew that it wouldnt last
And i know that this is goodbye
And i know that this is goodbye
you know you made a big mistake
when you though my heart would break
you wanna know there's someone new
hey im sorry to disappoint you
sometimes love is meant to be
not this time for you and me
don't stay up last wondering
what has gone or could of been
harsh words can push you aside
but you won't make me cry
truth hurts baby that's no lie
And i know that this is goodbye
sometimes love is meant to be
not this time for you and me
don't stay up late wondering
what has gone or could have been
And I know that this is goodbye
goodbye
And I know that this is goodbye (goodbye)
And I know that this is goodbye (goodbye)
And I know that this is goodbye (goodbye)
And I know that this is goodbye (goodbye)
