Crime is the breach of rules or laws for which some governing authority (via mechanisms such as legal systems) can ultimately prescribe a conviction. Crimes may also result in cautions, rehabilitation or be unenforced. Individual human societies may each define crime and crimes differently, in different localities (state, local, international), at different time stages of the so-called "crime", from planning, disclosure, supposedly intended, supposedly prepared, incomplete, complete or future proclaimed after the "crime".[citation needed]
While every crime violates the law, not every violation of the law counts as a crime; for example: breaches of contract and of other civil law may rank as "offences" or as "infractions". Modern societies generally regard crimes as offences against the public or the state, as distinguished from torts (wrongs against private parties that can give rise to a civil cause of action).
When informal relationships and sanctions prove insufficient to establish and maintain a desired social order, a government or a state may impose more formalized or stricter systems of social control. With institutional and legal machinery at their disposal, agents of the State can compel populations to conform to codes and can opt to punish or attempt to reform those who do not conform.
Alfred Matthew "Weird Al" Yankovic (pronunciation: /ˈjæŋkəvɪk/; born October 23, 1959) is an American singer-songwriter, music producer, accordionist, actor, comedian, writer, satirist, and parodist. Yankovic is known for his humorous songs that make light of popular culture and that often parody specific songs by contemporary musical acts. Since his first-aired comedy song in 1976, he has sold more than 12 million albums (as of 2007), recorded more than 150 parody and original songs, and has performed more than 1,000 live shows. His works have earned him three Grammy Awards among nine nominations, four gold records, and six platinum records in the United States. Yankovic's first top ten Billboard album (Straight Outta Lynwood) and single ("White & Nerdy") were both released in 2006, nearly three decades into his career.
Yankovic's success comes in part from his effective use of music video to further parody popular culture, the song's original artist, and the original music videos themselves, scene-for-scene in some cases. He directed later videos himself and went on to direct for other artists including Ben Folds, Hanson, Black Crowes, and The Presidents of the United States of America. In addition to recording his albums, Yankovic wrote and starred in the film, UHF, and television show, The Weird Al Show. He has also made guest appearances on many television shows, in addition to starring in Al TV specials on MTV.
Eric Himpton Holder, Jr. (born January 21, 1951) is the 82nd and current Attorney General of the United States and the first black American to hold the position, serving under President Barack Obama.
Holder previously served as a judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia and a United States Attorney. In that office he prosecuted Congressman Dan Rostenkowski (Democrat, Illinois) for corruption charges related to his role in the Congressional Post Office scandal. Later, he was Deputy Attorney General of the United States and worked at the law firm of Covington & Burling in Washington, D.C. He was senior legal advisor to then-Senator Barack Obama during Obama's presidential campaign and one of three members of Obama's vice-presidential selection committee.
Eric Himpton Holder, Jr. was born in the Bronx, New York, to parents with roots in Barbados.[dead link] Holder's father, Eric Himpton Holder, Sr. (1905–1970) was born in Saint Joseph, Barbados and arrived in the United States at the age of 11. He later became a real estate broker. His mother, Miriam, was born in New Jersey, while his maternal grandparents were immigrants from Saint Philip, Barbados. Holder grew up in East Elmhurst, Queens, and attended public school until the age of 10. When entering the 4th grade he was selected to participate in a program for intellectually gifted students. In 1969, he graduated from Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan and attended Columbia University, where he played freshman basketball and was co-captain of his team. He earned a A.B. degree in American history in 1973. Holder received his Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School, graduating in 1976. He worked for the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund during his first summer and the United States Attorney during his second summer.
Sherlock Holmes ( /ˈʃɜrlɒk ˈhoʊmz/) is a fictional detective created by Scottish author and physician Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The fantastic London-based "consulting detective", Holmes is famous for his astute logical reasoning, his ability to adopt almost any disguise, and his use of forensic science skills to solve difficult cases.
Holmes, who first appeared in publication in 1887, was featured in four novels and 56 short stories. The first novel, A Study in Scarlet, appeared in Beeton's Christmas Annual in 1887 and the second, The Sign of the Four, in Lippincott's Monthly Magazine in 1890. The character grew tremendously in popularity with the first series of short stories in Strand Magazine, beginning with A Scandal in Bohemia in 1891; further series of short stories and two novels published in serial form appeared between then and 1927. The stories cover a period from around 1880 up to 1914.
All but four stories are narrated by Holmes's friend and biographer, Dr. John H. Watson; two are narrated by Holmes himself ("The Blanched Soldier" and "The Lion's Mane") and two others are written in the third person ("The Mazarin Stone" and "His Last Bow"). In two stories ("The Musgrave Ritual" and "The Gloria Scott"), Holmes tells Watson the main story from his memories, while Watson becomes the narrator of the frame story. The first and fourth novels, A Study in Scarlet and The Valley of Fear, each include a long interval of omniscient narration recounting events unknown to either Holmes or Watson.
And there's a fire on
the Junk island where
they send their garbage.
Is anybody listening?
After work we'll watch
the seagulls diving in
and out of the lashing towers of flame.
It twinkles like a pile
of rotting jewels left
to bake in the sun.
Is anybody listening?
And we're just like those condom wrappers
used up, torn up.
Thrown away.
And we're just like yesterday's headlines:
drifting, floating, towards the blaze.
'If we rob the
liquor store we could
be in Tijuana by the crack of dawn.
and if we rob the
Mayor's mansion
we could pawn his modern art and make a fortune.
and if we rob the lonely widow,
we could steal her credit cards
and buy a cottage by the Ocean
And we could swim in to Junk Island
we'll burn up like the seagulls and the whiskey bottles.
We're scrapped Valentines.
We're tangerine rinds.
We're Crimes, Crimes, Crimes, Crimes, Crimes.
And the children
in the subway
eating applecores.
Is anybody listening?
They're breathing paint out of plastic bags.
Their mumbled mouths say:
"Is anybody listening?"
Oh-Ooh. Oh-Oooh.
Having a problem, turn on the TV
Got too much money, give it to me.
I'll say what you wanna hear,
Do what you think I should.
'Cause I'm on your side,
Don't be misunderstood.
Will I retain my sanity?
Or tumble into vanity?
Effect all of Humanity,
You will pay.
Reach out for something, escape reality.
Insane suicide, pay the penalty.
Don't see what's the final move,
On how to play the game.
Don't think you'll end up like them.
Don't think that you're the same.
Will I retain...
Murder you justify, so your hands are clean.
Carry out the task you set,
Homage to the green.
Taking life without a care,
Sadist of a kind.
Making you into a man,
A man without a mind.
Will I retain...
Do I control my destiny,
Or there's a higher authority,
That commits atrocity.
One...two...three
Four...five...six
Seven...eight...nine
Nine...nine...nine
Never
Will the clouds fade away
O'er the sky of your life
Jamais une nuit sans fant?me
Lit by the bloody knife
Sans le rouge au couteau
Never
Will the ghosts give way
Over your home, I swear
In this world or elsewhere !
Jamais que leur regard
Piti? tueurs, ou malheur,
Dans ce monde ou ailleurs,
Vous n'aurez ni repos ni bonheur,
De la honte connaitrez l'horreur !

Killing by law or by so-called ideal
Your shame will be etemal !

Remember
when we were young
and so in lust
the hard times could never keep us down
you had me
wrapped around your finger
till I let it linger
you think I'd blame myself
honey won't you let me help you
get your facts straight
I'm doing time for a crime I did not commit
Surely you believe I'm not the man I know I am,
why else would this be over now?
and why are you waiting in the crowd??
I'm older, now I see where I went wrong
but I can't help it
I'm addicted
she's got coca leaves for eyes
and knives between her teeth
honey won't you let me let you let go
honey won't you let me let you go
honey won't you let me help you
get your facts straight
I'm doing time for a crime I did not commit
but if I did wasn't sorry so forget that shit
And there's a fire on
the Junk island where
they send their garbage.
Is anybody listening?
After work we'll watch

words are fueling the fire
one world under god - a desire
dread is rising life despising
worldwide chaos reign of fear
here's the new deal the threat is unreal
to force the terror continues the error
times of fury
judge and jury
lane of wrath
oneway path
age of mistrust greed and disgust
prejudice ... ignorance - detestation
walk the new way age of scorn
a world of violence about to be born
times of fury
judge and jury
lane of wrath
Who killed who?
We slide and flow through, no proof…
You do the back up and I do the move
We slide and flow through, no proof…
