Mr. and Mrs. Khiladi is a 1997 Bollywood comedy film directed by David Dhawan. It features Akshay Kumar and Juhi Chawla. This film proved the comedy timing of Akshay Kumar who was known at that time for only action hero or romantic roles. A part of the movie was set in Toronto, and Ontario, Canada.
This is a remake of Telugu movie Aa Okkati Adakku (1992) of AVM Productions starring Rajendra Prasad, Rambha and Rao Gopal Rao.
When his astrologer uncle (Satish Kaushik) predicts a favorable future for Raja (Akshay Kumar), he decides to nothing until the prediction comes true. When he meets Shalu (Juhi Chawla) the daughter of a millionaire (Kader Khan) he decides his predicted future has arrived. However his lazy lifestyle does not meet with his future father-in-law's standards, and he insists that Raja does some hard work for a change. The film didn't perform well theatrically but however it was Superhit later on Satellite channels and DVD circuits.
The shooting of Akela Hai Mr. Khiladi took place in Ontario, Canada. Some parts of it were shot at the Niagara Falls, while the other part (75%) was shot near the famous Square One Shopping Centre in Mississauga. The Central library and other buildings nearby were shown. One of the songs was shot inside BCE Place in Toronto.

Akshay Kumar (born Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia on 9 September 1967) is an Indian film actor, producer, comedian and martial artist who has appeared in over a hundred Hindi films. He has nominated for Filmfare Award several times and won two times. When he began his acting career in the 1990s, he primarily starred in action films and was particularly known for his appearances in feature films commonly called the "Khiladi series", which included Khiladi (1992), Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994), Sabse Bada Khiladi (1995), Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi (1996), Mr. and Mrs. Khiladi (1997), International Khiladi (1999), and Khiladi 420 (2000), as well as other action films such as Waqt Hamara Hai (1993), Mohra (1994), Elaan (1994) and Suhaag (1994).
Later he also gained fame for his drama, romance and comic roles. He started becoming known for his performances in romance films like Yeh Dillagi (1994) and Dhadkan (2000) as well as drama films such as Ek Rishtaa (2001). His comic performances in comedy films such as Hera Pheri (2000), Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), and Garam Masala (2005) met with acclaim. His success further rose in 2007, when he starred in four consecutive commercial hits. He has thus established himself as one of the leading actors in Hindi cinema.
Juhi Chawla (Punjabi: ਜੂਹੀ ਚਾਵਲਾ born 13 November 1967) is an Indian actress, voice actress, film producer and television presenter.
After being crowned as the winner of the Miss India beauty contest in 1984, Chawla pursued an acting career. She went on to become one of the top leading actresses of Bollywood and starred in films ranging from the romances Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988) and Darr (1993) to Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke (1993), which earned her the Filmfare Best Actress Award, to Yes Boss (1997) and Ishq (1997). Chawla has been mostly recognised for her comic timing in films as well as her vivacious screen persona.
During the 2000s, after having starred in over 70 mainstream Hindi films, Chawla started acting in art and independent films. She appeared in films in her native tongue of Punjabi, and has been mostly working in parallel cinema. She gained critical recognition for her performances in films like Jhankaar Beats (2003), 3 Deewarein (2003), My Brother Nikhil (2005), Bas Ek Pal (2006) and I Am (2011). Kader Khan (born 22 October 1935) is an Indian film actor, comedian, script and dialogue writer and Director. He graduated from Ismail Yusuf College affiliated to Mumbai University (then Bombay University). Before entering the film industry (1970–75) he taught at M. H. Saboo Siddik College of Engineering, Byculla, Mumbai as a professor of Civil Engineering.
Khan was born in Pishin, Balochistan in British India, to an Afghan father from Qandahar, Afghanistan and a Pashtun mother from Quetta and was raised in Bombay by his pious father. He is an alumnus of Ismail Yusuf College, Mumbai. He taught (1970–75) at M. H. Saboo Siddik College of Engineering, Byculla, Mumbai as professor of civil engineering.
On the college's annual day function, Khan took part in a play and it was acclaimed by all present. Dilip Kumar came to know about it; he called him and showed keenness in watching the play. Khan made special arrangements and acted the play for him. Kumar was so impressed that he signed him for his next two films: Sagina Mahato and Bairaag.
