In principle, the word borough designates a self-governing community. In the United States, a borough is a unit of local government below the level of the state. The term is currently used in six states:
In Alaska, the word "borough" is used instead of "county." Like counties, boroughs are administrative divisions of the state, but whereas some states use a three-tiered system of decentralization—state/county/township—Alaska only has the first two tiers—state/borough. This is due to the size and nature of Alaska, especially its low population density.
Each borough in Alaska has a borough seat, which is the administrative center for the borough. The Municipality of Anchorage is a consolidated city-borough, as are Sitka, Juneau, Haines and Yakutat.
Most of the state's area, however, is part of the vast Unorganized Borough, nearly as large as France and Germany combined, which has no borough-level government at all. The United States Census Bureau has divided the Unorganized Borough into eleven census areas for statistical purposes.
The United States of America (commonly abbreviated to the United States, the U.S., the USA, America, and the States) is a federal constitutional republic comprising fifty states and a federal district. The country is situated mostly in central North America, where its forty-eight contiguous states and Washington, D.C., the capital district, lie between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, bordered by Canada to the north and Mexico to the south. The state of Alaska is in the northwest of the continent, with Canada to the east and Russia to the west, across the Bering Strait. The state of Hawaii is an archipelago in the mid-Pacific. The country also possesses several territories in the Pacific and Caribbean.
At 3.79 million square miles (9.83 million km2) and with over 312 million people, the United States is the third or fourth largest country by total area, and the third largest by both land area and population. It is one of the world's most ethnically diverse and multicultural nations, the product of large-scale immigration from many countries. The U.S. economy is the world's largest national economy, with an estimated 2011 GDP of $15.1 trillion (22% of nominal global GDP and over 19% of global GDP at purchasing-power parity). Per capita income is the world's sixth-highest.
Feeding Fingers is a music trio founded by award-winning multimedia artist, musician, author, animator and artist, Justin Curfman. The band was founded in 2006 in Atlanta, Georgia, but has since relocated to Germany.
Feeding Fingers' history begins in Atlanta, Georgia in 2005. Justin Curfman began pre-production on his first feature length film, TICKS. Curfman found nearly twenty pieces of complimentary music in his sketchbooks, cassette-tapes and hard-drives spanning nearly ten years that he considered for his film. However, Curfman later decided he wanted to start from scratch and locked away these pieces of music indefinitely. Later, he purchased a home which had a large performance/studio space spanning the entire lower level of the house. Feeling a need to use the empty space and tempted to bring back his older songs and rework into live performance pieces, Curfman decided to form a band. He submitted advertisements in music papers, internet networking sites (like MySpace) seeking for a bass player and a drummer interested in playing in a group similar to Joy Division, Cocteau Twins and Echo and the Bunnymen. Todd Caras (bassist) was the first phone call Curfman received. And after a dozen more phone calls, Feeding Fingers found its drummer with Danny Hunt.
Melinda R. Katz (born August 19, 1965) was a New York City Councilwoman from 2002 to 2009.[1] She left politics in 2009 to work at Greenberg Traurig, a law firm where she specializes in government affairs and land use.[2] In 2012, she announced her return to politics with a run for Queens Borough President in 2013. [2]
Melinda Katz grew up in Forest Hills, Queens, and still resides there with her partner, radio personality and Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa, and their two children. [1] She comes from a family with a long history of civic involvement. Her father, the late Maestro David Katz, was founder of the Queens Symphony Orchestra in 1953, and her mother, the late Jeanne Dale Katz, founded the Queens Council on the Arts.[3]
Katz graduated from the University of Massachusetts, summa cum laude, where she was named a Commonwealth Scholar, and later earned a law degree from St. John's University School of Law. [3] She was recruited by the law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges, where she worked as an associate for several years before running for the New York State Assembly.[3] In 1995, the New York Daily News named her “one of the one hundred up-and-coming young leaders for the 21st Century.”[3]
During Katz’s tenure in the New York City Council (2002 to 2009) ,[1] she represented the 29th Council District, which includes Forest Hills, Rego Park, Kew Gardens and parts of Maspeth, South Elmhurst and Richmond Hill. [1] Katz served as Chair of the Standing Committee on Land Use, which was responsible for approving rezoning measures that will ultimately give an extreme makeover to wide-ranging pockets of the city, including, Williamsburg, Greenpoint [4] and Jamaica. [5] As chair of the committee, Katz oversaw the rezoning of 6,000 city blocks, including the Greenpoint-Williamsburg rezoning in 2005. [6] Prior to being elected to the New York City Council, Katz was Director of Community Boards for the Office of the Queens Borough President (1999-2002), [1] and served as a Member of the New York State Assembly representing Queens’ 28th District (1994-1999), which included Forest Hills, Rego Park, and parts of Middle Village and Glendale. [7]
During her tenure as an Assembly Member, Katz authored sixteen bills that became laws, including some crucial health care initiatives. [3] She wrote the law requiring HMO’s to provide women direct access to gynecological care without forcing them to first see a primary care physician. [3] She was also the Chair of the Sub-committee on Urban Health. [3] Additionally, she has carried several bills to increase penalties for various forms of assault and has been a long-time supporter of working men and women. [3] In June of 2009, she was the only woman running in the Democratic Primary for New York City Comptroller. [3]
In 2012, she announced her plans to run for Queens Borough President in 2013. [2]

I don't really want to know if this isn't how it seems.
So give it a chance and see if you know what I mean.
Lights are making plans to cover up.
Turn around and walk away.
I know we can make it through,
Make it back to the town in the sky
We've waited our whole lives,
And now it's time to begin.
Give it away, don't forget we're all safe
And now it's right in the end.
Now I'll hold my mouth to keep from saying what I really think.
All of us spent too much time here listening in.
Lights are making plans to cover up.
Turn around and walk away.
I know we can make it through,
Make it back to the town in the sky
We've waited our whole lives,
And now it's time to begin.
Ladders are lining along,
So what are you so worried about?
Just try and pretend you'll go.
Try to pretend.
Lights are making plans to cover up all of you.
Turn around and walk away.
I know we can make it through,
Make it back to the town in the sky
We've waited our whole lives,
And now it's time to begin
Give it away, don't forget we're all safe
And now it's right in the end.
The town in the sky
We've waited our whole lives,
And now it's time to begin
Give it away, don't forget we're all safe
I hope you brought your clever eyes
You better fill it up,
We're driving 'til the sun gets tired
Forget about the worrying,
It don't concern us anymore
When it comes down to it,
Nothing's gonna stop us with the pedal at the floor
Labeled as a sucker in the new generation
Doesn't even matter 'cause we like it better singing
Hey, we're doing what we wanted
I'll take my life where I'm supposed to
Hey, we're living like we ought to
I'll take my life where I'm supposed to
We're out to get what we desire
But they think it's so bizarre
And that it's adding to the fire
We're finding out a better way
And learning more than we were told of before
Don't believe in what they're saying
'Cause the fame is really what they're coming for
Labeled as a sucker in the new generation
Doesn't even matter 'cause we like it better singing
Hey, we're doing what we wanted
I'll take my life where I'm supposed to
Hey, we're living like we ought to
I'll take my life where I'm supposed to
Maybe we'll learn a bit
Don't need advice when I can live it out, live it out
And the lines on the road are only to escape (from it)
Hey, we're doing what we wanted
I'll take my life where I'm supposed to
Hey, we're living like we ought to
I'll take my life where I'm supposed to
Living like we're supposed to
Living like we're supposed to
Hey, like we're supposed to
Well line 'em up, boys, it's the end of the night
Gonna take 'em around, have 'em sleep in the sky
They say it's not allowed, they say it's not allowed
Gotta prove 'em wrong
Well, you can knock once, but they'll never return
And I'm banging with my fingers and it's starting to burn
This isn't new to me, this isn't new to me
Gotta feel it out
'Cause now I've learned that nothing stays
We're meant to give it away, so let it erase itself
And everything is in a bit of a hurry
So why don't you look at what you're falling for
At what you're falling for
Can you get us to the north? It's the end of the road
I think I'm losing you now, try and follow
Is it impossible? Singing loud now to block it out
There's so much to it all, want to simplify
I've been counting on a reason for a little while
In a second, we just need a second here to finish it
'Cause now I've learned that nothing stays
We're meant to give it away, so let it erase itself
And everything is in a bit of a hurry
So why don't you look at what you're falling for
At what you're falling for
Can you not see it? We're flying down
Send all the owls, send all the owls now
And now I've learned that nothing stays
We're meant to give it away, so let it erase itself
And everything is in a bit of a hurry
So why don't you look at what you're falling for
At what you're falling for
'Cause now I've learned that nothing stays anymore
And now I've learned that nothing stays anymore
I can't stand to see your eyes when they're aiming at the floor,
But the worst is knowing I'm the reason for your bitter heart.
And with my head in my hands, I'm thinking of the things I've done so wrong
Though it's what I deserve, never take the melody from my song.
'Cause you're a lullaby playing through the tragedy
That I listen for to brighten up the dark
That's been romancing and keeping us asleep
So now the quiet came around, found a soul muted deeper than its own
And all his luggage piled in the room, he knows he's gonna have to stay for a while
And with my feet on the ground, I wonder how I'm gonna escape from the flood
Though it's what I deserve, I never want to have to decide to give up
'Cause you're a lullaby playing through the tragedy
That I listen for to brighten up the dark
That's been romancing and keeping us asleep
Can't you see?
You're looking awful anxious.
Well, settle down.
Take a break and figure out.
You shouldn't be paranoid, or should you?
Is there a warning out and you're not telling us?
Well explain yourself, or try to.
It's getting harder to ignore it
With the vital signs facing outward.
Joker, you've cornered yourself from it all
And now you are, you're looking awful anxious.
Well make a plan.
Draw it up and document
You want to be ready when they're questioning.
So you modify to find the only door is high.
I guess you better find a cake that'll make you grow.
It's getting harder to ignore it
With the vital signs facing outward.
Joker, you've cornered yourself from it all
And now you are, you're looking awful anxious.
I saw you hiding out.
Does it make it harder for you to sneak around now?
It's getting harder to ignore it
With the vital signs facing outward.
Joker, you've cornered yourself from it all
So they brought me here to show how to live
I'm guessing they never thought it out
I could pace the room for the seventh time
And hope to feel alive again
If I follow it, follow it in too far
(In a way, it's a shame, but...)
If I follow it, follow it in too far
But there's another chapter waiting there
Hesitate.
But there's another chapter waiting there
Listen in.
Try to feel it out, fooling myself,
But another chapter waiting there
Still a little further on
Try the pieces out, see if any amount
Begging the sun to wake me up
And the miles ought to add up a lot
But I don't seem to care a bit
If I follow it, follow it in too far
(In a way, it's a shame, but...)
If I follow it, follow it in too far
But there's another chapter waiting there
Hesitate.
But there's another chapter waiting there
Listen in.
Try to feel it out, fooling myself,
But another chapter waiting there
Still a little further on
I want you to know I can see
That when your chemical highs have you feeling alive,
Well, you're dead, already dead.
Another chapter waiting
Another chapter waiting
Try to feel it out, fooling myself,
But another chapter waiting there
Still a little further on
Gonna make you feel alive; you're ready.
Still a little further on
Gonna make you feel alive; you're ready.
Still a little further on
Another chapter waiting
Another chapter waiting
the family fell apart with a strict blow
from an ill-divine addiction
transfixed on its own
undulating survivor rate
for the sake of right mind and public relation
we will call it extreme circumstances
so bite your tongue and open your eyes
as we dance on your grave
my fingers are cocked
and ready to throw back
gratuity and crucial sedatives
blow
for the sake of right mind and public relation
we will call it extreme circumstances
so bite your tongue and open your eyes
as we dance on your grave
you have to break this silence
you have a cyclical sickness
its love is viscious
you have a cyclical sickness
this is my lover's tryst
for the sake of right mind and public relation
we will call it extreme circumstances
so bite your tongue and open your eyes
