Supergirl TV series to feature DC's Jimmy Olsen and Cat Grant
By Justin Harp
The upcoming Supergirl TV series will feature DC Comics characters Jimmy Olsen and Cat Grant.
CBS has already given a series order to the upcoming show, which comes from Arrow's Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler and Sarah Schechter.
The series will centre on 24-year-old Kara Zor-El revealing her powers to the world, after spending years repressing them.
Details about the supporting characters have now been revealed to TVLine.
Kara's civilian life will see her employed as a personal assistant to Cat Grant, a glamorous 40-year-old woman who runs the media conglomerate CatCo.
Superman's pal Jimmy Olsen has been re-envisioned as a rugged, alpha male photographer, who becomes the object of Kara's affections.
Olsen was famously played by Marc McClure in the first four Superman films and in the Supergirl spinoff movie.
Aaron Ashmore later portrayed the character in The CW's Smallville.
Winslow Schott is a CatCo technical expert in his mid-20s, and harbours his own secret crush on Kara.
DC Comics readers will recognise the name Winslow Schott as the alter-ego of classic Superman villain the Toyman.
Hank Henshaw is a CIA agent whose otherworldly interests have led him to become the head of the newly-created Department of Extra-Normal Operations.
Henshaw takes a keen interest in Supergirl when she reveals her powers.
No air date has been set for Supergirl.
Laura Vandervoort - who played Supergirl in Smallville - previously expressed interest in playing a villain in this new CBS series.
