A telescopic sight, commonly called a scope, is a sighting device that is based on an optical refracting telescope. They are equipped with some form of graphic image pattern (a reticle) mounted in an optically appropriate position in their optical system to give an accurate aiming point. Telescopic sights are used with all types of systems that require accurate aiming but are most commonly found on guns. Other types of sights are iron sights, reflector (reflex) sights, and laser sights.
The first experiments directed to give shooters optical aiming aids go back to the early 17th century. For centuries different optical aiming aids and primitive predecessors of telescopic sights were created that had practical or performance limitations.
The first documented telescopic rifle sight was invented between 1835 and 1840. In a book titled The Improved American Rifle, written in 1844, John R. Chapman documented the first telescopic sights made by Morgan James of Utica, NY. Chapman, the author, being a civil engineer, gave James the concepts and some of the design, whereupon they produced the Chapman-James sight. In 1855, William Malcolm of Syracuse, NY began producing his own sight. Malcolm used an original design incorporating achromatic lenses like those used in telescopes, and improved the windage and elevation adjustments. They were between 3X and 20X or greater. Malcolm's and those made by Mr. L.M. Amidon of Vermont were the standard during the Civil War.

I don’t know
when it all began to simmer down. Suddenly I don’t
want you around
And I’m sitting here
I’m drowning in the worries and the fear
And now I wish it wasn’t quite as clear.
Cause I am starting to forget now
It disappears so fast
I am waiting for “the Question” to be asked.
And if you saw me now
you’d not be disappointed
somehow I’ve gotten to a point
and I’m not ever coming back
my minds made up I’m staying for as long as it has taken
(to get)
Close to you, I wanna get, Close to you and
I need more time, (I wanna get)
Close to you, I just want, Close to you and
I’m not sure why!
Sometimes I
I get up in the morning so surprised.
It takes me some time to realize
Lately I,
Have really wished that you were still around.
It was one of those beautiful fall grey days
That reminds me of when I was a kid
I felt the passing of time yeah well, that's life
But I can't get you out of my head
And I wonder where you are
And I wonder where you've been
'Cause I need a little lovin' now
And darlin' I know that you're the one
For me, yeah
(You give it up girl, you give it up now)
The one for me
(You give it up girl, you give it up now)
The one for me
(You give it up girl, you give it up now)
For me, yeah
The one for me
(You give it up girl, you give it up now)
She's crying on the phone tonight
Another bad relationship thing
Her mother always said she wasn't good enough
And her father made her mean
Yeah, everyone will tell you what they know
Does anybody really know anything?
Just wanna hold you tight, make it alright
'Cause darlin'
You're more than good enough
For me, yeah
(You give it up girl, you give it up now)
The one for me
(You give it up girl, you give it up now)
For me, yeah
(You give it up girl, you give it up now)
The one for me
(You give it up girl, you give it up now)
You know you really can't stand him
There's been no sex since god knows when
You know there's something more you want
You need a little ##### and #####
Just come a little closer you'll see
I've got just what you need baby
You've asked yourself a million times
Is he really the one for me?
The one for me
You're the one for me, yeah
(The one for me)
The one for me, yeah
(The one for me)
The one for me, yeah
We'll get a room up in the sky
We'll get drunk and stay up all night
(The one for me)
There's so much that we want to know
We'll go anywhere we wanna go
(The one for me)
There's nothin' darling we can't do
You're doin' me, I'm doin' you
(The one for me)
You'll be the one for me
I'll be the one for you
You'll be the one for me
(For me, yeah)
I'll be the one for you
We'll get a room up in the sky
We'll have a little sex and fun
I'll be the one for you
(For me, yeah)
You'll be the one for me
I'll be the one for you
