Visite de Djenné / Visit of Djenne (Mali)
Djenné (also Dienné or Jenne) is a historically and commercially important small city in the Niger Inland Delta of central Mali. It is just west of the Bani River (the Niger River passes well to the west and north). It has an ethnically diverse population of about 12000 (in 1987). It is famous for its mud brick (adobe) architecture, most notably the Great Mosque of Djenné which was rebuilt in 1907. In the past, Djenné was a centre of trade and learning, and has been conquered a number of times since its founding. It is the oldest known city in sub-Saharan Africa, and its historic city center was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1988. Administratively it is part of the Mopti Region. Djenné was founded in about 800 CE by the Bozo people at a site known as Jenné-Jeno, 1.5 km upstream. It moved its site in either 1043 or the 13th century, when the city converted to Islam. This increased its importance as a market and a base for trans-Saharan trade, soon rivalling Timbuktu. Djenné, despite its proximity, was never part of the Mali Empire. It existed as an independent city-state protected by walls and the geography of the inland delta. According to legend, the Mali Empire attempted to conquer the city 99 times before giving up. Djenné would not be conquered until 1473 by the Songhai Empire under Sonni Ali. The siege of Djenné is said to have lasted 7 months and 7 days culminating in the death of the city's king and its capitulation. The widow of the city married ...

Continuing on our journey to explore the lives of the greatest heroes of Islam, Exploring Islam examines the life of UMAR IBN AL-KHATTAB (RA), one of the closest companions of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and the 2nd Caliph of Islam. Umar (RA) stood tall amongst men; a strong and powerfully built man who used to be a champion wrestler in his youth. He was given the title of Al-Farooq by the Prophet (SAW), meaning one who distinguishes between truth and falsehood, right and wrong. Under him the Muslim empire grew at a phenomenal rate; covering vast expanses of the Middle East and North Africa. The most just and fair amongst rulers who used to say: "If a dog dies hungry on the banks of the River Euphrates, Umar will be responsible for failure of duty." One can only wonder if a ruler such as him can be found in the world today?

Umar Ibn Al-Khattab 1/5 عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه
Dear Muslims, Allah the Exalted has glorified Islam by great men who sacrificed their lives and money in support of this great Religion. Among them was the just imam al-Faruq ^Umar Ibn al- Khattab whom Allah guided his heart to Islam. The day he embraced Islam was a day of joy and triumph for the Muslims because he was a renowned man of strength, and courage. He is Abu Hafs ^Umar Ibn al- Khattab, the son of Nufayl, the son of ^Abdul ^Iza, the son of Rabah, the son of Qart, the son of Razah, the son of ^Udaiyy, the son of Ka^b, the son of Luaiyy; the just Caliph al-Faruq. He was one of those who embraced Islam in the early days of the Call of the Prophet sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam, and he was also one of those ten whom the Prophet told them the good news that they will be in Paradise. ^Umar was born thirteen years after the Year of The Elephant. He was tall, bald, and white in color with extreme redness, with thick chin hair, light hair on the side of his face, a full moustache, with intense redness in the whites of his eyes. He was extremely modest, unattached to this life, full with fear of Allah and far away from extravagancy. He was very strong and courageous and it was mentioned in the true Tawrah (Torah) that he was a strong amir. He embraced Islam at the age of twenty-six after forty men and ten women did. It was also said that he embraced Islam after forty-five men and eleven women did.

111 hadith found in 'Ablutions (Wudu)' of Sahih Bukhari.
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "The prayer of a person who does ,Hadath (passes, urine, stool or wind) is not accepted till he performs (repeats) the ablution." A person from Hadaramout asked Abu Huraira, "What is 'Hadath'?" Abu Huraira replied, " 'Hadath' means the passing of wind from the anus."
Narrated 'Abbas bin Tamim: My uncle asked Allah's Apostle about a person who imagined to have passed wind during the prayer. Allah' Apostle replied: "He should not leave his prayers unless he hears sound or smells something."
Narrated Kuraib: Ibn 'Abbas said, "The Prophet slept till he snored and then prayed (or probably lay till his breath sounds were heard and then got up and prayed)." Ibn 'Abbas added: "I stayed overnight in the house of my aunt, Maimuna, the Prophet slept for a part of the night, (See Fateh-al-Bari page 249, Vol. 1), and late in the night, he got up and performed ablution from a hanging water skin, a light (perfect) ablution and stood up for the prayer. I, too, performed a similar ablution, then I went and stood on his left. He drew me to his right and prayed as much as Allah wished, and again lay and slept till his breath sounds were heard. Later on the Mua'dhdhin (callmaker for the prayer) came to him and informed him that it was time for Prayer. The Prophet went with him for the prayer without performing a new ablution." (Sufyan said to 'Amr that some people said, "The eyes of Allah's Apostle sleep but his heart does not sleep." 'Amr replied, "I heard 'Ubaid bin 'Umar saying that the dreams of Prophets were Divine Inspiration, and then he recited the verse: 'I (Abraham) see in a dream, (O my son) that I offer you in sacrifice (to Allah)." (37.102) (See Hadith No. 183)
Narrated Usama bin Zaid: Allah's Apostle proceeded from 'Arafat till when he reached the mountain pass, he dismounted, urinated and then performed ablution but not a perfect one. I said to him, ("Is it the time for) the prayer, O Allah's Apostle?" He said, "The (place of) prayer is ahead of you." He rode till when he reached Al-Muzdalifa, he dismounted and performed ablution and a perfect one, The (call for) Iqama was pronounced and he led the Maghrib prayer. Then everybody made his camel kneel down at its place. Then the Iqama was pronounced for the 'Isha' prayer which the Prophet led and no prayer was offered in between the two . prayers ('Isha' and Maghrib).
Narrated 'Ata' bin Yasar: Ibn 'Abbas performed ablution and washed his face (in the following way): He ladled out a handful of water, rinsed his mouth and washed his nose with it by putting in water and then blowing it out. He then, took another handful (of water) and did like this (gesturing) joining both hands, and washed his face, took another handful of water and washed his right forearm. He again took another handful of water and washed his left forearm, and passed wet hands over his head and took another handful of water and poured it over his right foot (up to his ankles) and washed it thoroughly and similarly took another handful of water and washed thoroughly his left foot (up to the ankles) and said, "I saw Allah's Apostle performing ablution in this way."
Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: The Prophet said, "If anyone of you on having sexual relations with his wife said (and he must say it before starting) 'In the name of Allah. O Allah! Protect us from Satan and also protect what you bestow upon us (i.e. the coming offspring) from Satan, and if it is destined that they should have a child then, Satan will never be able to harm that offspring."
Narrated Anas: Whenever the Prophet went to answer the call of nature, he used to say, "Allah-umma inni a'udhu bika minal khubuthi wal khaba'ith i.e. O Allah, I seek Refuge with You from all offensive and wicked things (evil deeds and evil spirits)."
Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: Once the Prophet entered a lavatory and I placed water for his ablution. He asked, "Who placed it?" He was informed accordingly and so he said, "O Allah! Make him (Ibn 'Abbas) a learned scholar in religion (Islam)."
Narrated Abu Aiyub Al-Ansari: Allah's Apostle said, "If anyone of you goes to an open space for answering the call of nature he should neither face nor turn his back towards the Qibla; he should either face the east or the west."
Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar: People say, "Whenever you sit for answering the call of nature, you should not face the Qibla or Bait-ulMaqdis (Jerusalem)." I told them. "Once I went up the roof of our house and I saw

Masjid Al-Nabawi Rev. 2. Medinah, Saudi Arabia, 12-11-10 - YouTube
Uploaded to Vimeo September 3, 20012
Islam is the fastest growing religion and consequently this religion has largest followers on this planet. At this date the Muslim population is about 2.1 billion human beings.
The video and chant calling the Muslim faithful to prayer are quite different from what Westerners and non Muslims usually are used to or watch and hear on YouTube. Please keep an open mind as you watch this video and do not believe all what negative things we are being bombarded with by the Media , Governments and the Zionist detractors and their supporters about the Muslim Religion. Muslims are human beings just like we are and have an amazing history.
I hope that you will like the YouTube "Video" which I created of the Masjid Al-Nabawi, (The Prophet Mohammad's Mosque and Tomb) in Medinah, Saudi Arabia.
I would especially like the poor and the sick Muslims, men, women and children in many parts of the worlds who cannot make the pilgrimage to Medinah and Mecca and the Palestinian Muslims, whose lands are occupied by Zionist Israel and who are not allowed by the Israeli's to travel or if they do so they are usually not allowed to return to their ancestral homes, to somehow be able to view this slideshow “video“ of the beautiful Masjid Al-Nabawi, their Prophets Mosque the second holiest Muslim Mosque, in Medinah, Saudi Arabia.
I want non-Muslims in the World to view this “video “ of the beautiful second holiest Muslim Mosque,The Prophets Mosque in Medinah, Saudi Arabia. Perhaps they will begin to understand a bit better about the greatness of Islam as a religion and its Hajj (Pilgrimage), to Mecca and Medinah, the two Holy Muslim cities in Saudi Arabia and its once great most long lived Arab Muslim Empire from about 638 AD (see further on below). The Third holiest city for Muslim is Jerusalem, Palestine, the city where I was born, with its beautiful Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Golden Dome of the Rock.
Perhaps it may inspire non-Muslims to seek more knowledge about Islam which is an extension of Judaism and Christianity whose ideas and doctrines the Prophet Mohammad adopted freely and which are in the Quoran ( Koran) their Holy Book. Perhaps they will seek more knowledge about Islam and its adherent's amazing history and culture and stop this unwarranted demonizing of Islam especially here in America and England and other parts of Europe. The Muslim religion and the Quoran recognize Christians and Jews as the People of the Book the Torah and the Bible. Muslims do recognize and respect Jesus (Jasuu in Arabic) as a very great Prophet.
I am working on creating a YouTube "Video" of the First Holy City of Islam, Mecca in Saudi Arabia. Mecca is a closed city and only Muslims are allowed to enter it. That bothers some non-Muslim people. I feel that it is their Holy City, their Religion and we must respect their about 1380 year old restriction. I never had a problem with that . When I was in Saudi Arabia I was treated very well and courteously. I was allowed close to the Holy City of Mecca but not allowed to enter it. The Prophet Mohammad is buried in Medinah in the Masjid Al-Nabawi with two other great early Muslim leaders, Abu Bakr (first caliph and the father of Muhammad's wife, Aisha), and of Umar (Umar ibn Al-Khattab), the Second Caliph. The outskirts of Medinah and the Medina Airport, are open to all. Non-Muslims are strictly prohibited from entering Central Medina. Some hotels are for Muslims only. I have no problem with that.
A bit of Muslim history may be in order here.
Islam, the longest lived of any empire, the Arab Empire of Faith, existed for about 857 years after the Prophet Mohammad died in 632 AD in Medina, Arabia. Islam would become the revitalizing force of a barbaric ancient Arabia returning people to God and bringing back the monotheistic message of Christianity and Judaism in its most powerful way. Muslim Women were given rights over their husbands, racism was annihilated and the rich were made equal to the poor.
During its Golden Years to about 1518 AD, for about 856 years the Great Muslim Empire stretched from the African shores of the Atlantic Ocean to China and India, a 200 days journey. While Europe was in the Dark Ages, the Arab Muslim Empire flourished as great works of architecture were built, reading and writing, mathematics, medicine, and astronomy to name a few blossomed. Even before the printing press Muslims would have hundreds of scribes writing all at once so they would learn and reproduce the writings.
The conquering Ottoman Turks adopted Islam shortly after about 1518 AD and ruled for 400 years more as Muslims until 1918. History of Islam http://www.barkati.net/english/,
