Hu Yaobang's Son Calls For Justice for The Tiananmen Massacre Victims
Follow us on TWITTER: http://twitter.com/cnforbiddennews Like us on FACEBOOK: http://www.facebook.com/chinaforbiddennews On April 15, the public commemorates the anniversary of former Communist Party General Secretary Hu Yaobang's death, even though the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and the media remain silent. Hu Yaobang's youngest son, Hu Dehua, praised how Hu Yoabang abolished the Communist class status that had kept the Chinese in fear for generations. Hu Dehua also condemned the CCP cover up of the June 4 incident. The following is our report. On the 25th anniversary of Hu Yaobang's death, Hu Yaobang's youngest son Hu Dehua went to Jiangxi to pay tribute to Hu along with other princelings, including former party secretary of Jiangxi, Wan Shaofeng's granddaughter Chen Bihong. Hu Yaobang's death triggered the 1989 pro-democracy movement. The regime has since downplayed Hu Yaobang. His name was censored on the Internet, and his burial site has been 'quiet'. Hu Dehua told South China Morning Post, "In the History of the Chinese Communist Party, he was not listed as if he had never existed." Hu Dehua believed that his father was not sorry for the loss of the supreme power, but regretted that reforms were abandoned. He had hoped to bring balance of powers for the government. Hu Dehua said, "Hu Yaobang could have been another national hero after Sun Yat-sen, but unfortunately, was removed." Among the many heritages from Hu Yaobang, Hu Dehua was most proud of his father's advocacy of democracy and the rule of law. He was also proud of his opposition to the repressive rule, the political movement to rehabilitate the victims, and the abolition of the "Black Five". This is a discrimination against the so-called political enemies, which allowed the Chinese people to free from fear since the ruling of the CCP. Hu Yaobang abolished the class status category in the personal document. Hu Dehua believed that in the era of Hu Yaobang, termination of the status quo of an individual in politics, i.e., landlords, rich farmers, anti-revolutionists, bad-influencers and capitalists, is equivalent to President Abraham Lincoln abolishing slavery. Hu Dehua told Ming Pao that it is lack of respect for the victims who died during the June 4 massacre by covering up the truth. He questioned the CCP, "What crimes had the students committed?" and "the lack of respect to the dead." He demanded an explanation. Zha Jianguo, Beijing dissident: "He was removed from the party's general secretary post because he was being weak in opposing the bourgeois liberalization. That was very wrong and the intellectuals and the general public were unhappy about the charge." Beijing dissident Zha Jianguo was warned not to participate the memorial of Hu Yaobang. Zha Jianguo indicates that the1989 student movement was initiated in support of Hu Yaobang for the injustice he received. It later evolved into a democratic movement against the corrupt officials. However, the regime classified the legitimate mass activities as unrest, which further inspired greater dissatisfaction by the people and subsequently the vigorous democracy movement took place. Zha Jianguo: "Over 200,000 Field Army personnel were sent to crackdown on the entirely peaceful students demonstrations with violent repression and created the bloody massacre." Recently, Beijing University of Science and Technology Professor Zhao Xiao published series of articles on-line to commemorating Hu Yaobang. One of them mentioned, Hu Yaobang was "the first top CCP leader who wore a suit." In a post on April 15, Zhao Xiao wrote, "Some people have died but actually live on; others live but have already died. Some people live in fear and some died of honor. There are people saying: "When I die, why care about the disasters!" The Bible says: "Man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment! That is righteous." Liu Yinquan, former professor of History: "Had Mr. Hu Yaobang's ideal been followed, there would have been less problems in China today. Had the students' demands been answered, the corruption would not have been so prominent as it is today." Professor Liu Yinquan indicates that Hu Yaobang represented the liberal faction of the CCP. Even though the CCP refuses to value him, the general public have their respect for him. Hu Yaobang's daughter once wrote that in 1988 on his way back to his hometown after he stepped down, Hu Yaobang received a warm welcome by numerous people. Even when hospitalized, people continued to visit him. 《神韵》2014世界巡演新亮点 http://www.ShenYunPerformingArts.org/- published: 16 Apr 2014

Hu Jintao's Visit to Hu Yaobang Highlights Internal Conflict
Follow us on TWITTER: http://twitter.com/cnforbiddennews Like us on FACEBOOK: http://www.facebook.com/chinaforbiddennews April 15 commemorates the 25th anniversary of former Chinese Communist Party secretary Hu Yaobang's death. After overcoming some challenges, the Hu Yaobang Research Association successfully held a forum honoring Hu. Hu Jintao and the Hunan Provincial Party Secretary visited Hu Yaobang's residence and his museum last Friday. Beijing political commentators say Hu Jintao's visit to was on behalf of Xi Jinping in order to win people over and ease tensions before the June 4th anniversary. However, all media coverage has been deleted, which shows that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) treats the Hu Yaobang issue with hypocrisy. Hong Kong's Ming Pao reports that journalists who tried to enter Hu Yaobang's Beijing home yesterday were dismissed by police. Only family friends were allowed to enter. Hu Yaobang's wife Li Zhao and eldest son Hu Deping stayed inside to meet visitors. In addition, a commemoratory forum for Hu Yaobang has encountered interference, but was held successfully. Independent scholar Gao Yu attended the meeting. Gao says that the evening before the meeting, police told her not to go. However, she still went. Bao Tong, former secretary of Zhao Ziyang couldn't join the meeting. He told NTD that the police requested that he lay low before June 4. Du Guang, former Central Party School Deputy Director, did attend the forum. Du says that the regime didn't completely prohibit events commemorating Hu Yaobang. However, only the events held by the regime are deemed legal. For example, for Hu Yaobang's 90 birthday anniversary in 2005, the central CCP held a grand commemoratory event. Nevertheless, if it is civilian organized, it will be connected to many sensitive issues. The major problem is that it links with the June 4th Tiananmen Square incident. In early years, Hu's death triggered a massive student protest. Du Guang says that Hu Yaobang and Zhao Ziyang's era was an open and democratic time. At that time, the educated young students longed for freedom and democracy. Thus Hu's sudden death caused students protest of anti-corruption, and calls for political reform. Du Guang: "The regime likely believes that Hu's death triggered a struggle between democracy and dictatorship. It caused bloodshed incident. The CCP still neither wants to face up to the reason behind the bloodshed, nor explain it, let alone apologize. So, if Hu Yaobang is given a high-level treatment as a leader, it will link with June 4 issue, which they don't want to touch." Gao Yu, former chief editor at China Economic Weekly participated in the June 4th protest in 1989 and was arrested. Gao Yu: "It was because of this that Hu was demoted from being General Secretary to being member of politburo. Thus it upset a lot of people, and a great movement took place after his death. So even now, anything linked with Hu Yaobang and June 4th are sensitive issues. Thus the regime's wish to control and 'maintain stability' includes the controlling the Hu Yaobang issue." Former leader Hu Jintao went to Liuyang, Hunan Province, visiting Hu Yaobang's residence. In the museum, he bowed to Hu Yaobang's statue. Gao Yu says that Hu Jintao's visit to Hu Yaobang's residence was arranged by the central regime on behalf of Xi Jinping. Gao says that being a former general secretary of the party, the central office arranges wherever Hu Jintao goes. One of the reasons is that as June 4th approaches, the regime hopes to pacify social tension. In addition, a grand commemoratory event was held for Hu Yaobang in 2005, during Hu Jintao's tenure. At that time, he wanted to improve his legitimacy via the event. Gao Yu: "Now is the same, Hu Yaobang's influence still exists. It is a positive influence, not CCP's negative influence. Thus letting Hu Jintao commemorate Hu Yaobang is used in order to increase the CCP's legitimacy and show an image of reform." Strangely, all news coverage about Hu Jintao visiting Hu Yaobang's residence has been deleted. Du Guang: "Because when Hu Yaobang was in charge, he essentially pursued a way of democracy. This is incompatible with dictatorship. Thus, affirming Hu Yaobang involves the issue of moving towards democracy or keeping dictatorship. It is a major issue of principle." Gao Yu says that Hu Yaobang was an important leader in China's reform and opening up. Gao says Hu headed the vindication of miscarriages of justice and discussion of truth standards after the Cultural Revolution, and that without the two, the reforms wouldn't have taken place. ShenYunPerformingArts.org/- published: 17 Apr 2014

Old Photo of Hu Yaobang and Zhao Ziyang Exposed
Follow us on TWITTER: http://twitter.com/cnforbiddennews Like us on FACEBOOK: http://www.facebook.com/chinaforbiddennews The former Chinese Communist Party (CCP) General Secretaries Hu Yaobang and Zhao Ziyang were removed because their minds were relatively open. Especially the topic of Zhao Ziyang and 'June 4th' are big taboo subjects for the authorities. However few days ago, an old photo which has both of them was displayed publicly by the authorities, also Wang Yannan, the daughter of Zhao Ziyang was shown in CCP media in a high profile photo. Are these signals showing that the CCP will have a huge political reform? Let's see the opinions of Zhao Ziyang's relatives and his former think-tank! The HK Mingpao reported that the media center of CCP 18th Congress opened on November 1 in Beijing Media Center. On the second floor, the "Xinhua News Agency" exhibits some photos which include an old picture of the CCP 12th Congress in 1982. In it, the 85-year-old Ye Jianying was entered into the Politburo Standing Committee, the General Secretary Hu Yaobang stooped to talk with him, Deng Xiaoping and Zhao Ziyang were behind them. The rare photo of Zhao Ziyang was exposed attracted the attention of the outside world immediately. Wang Zhihua is the son-in-law of Zhao Ziyang, and he is the husband of Wang Yannan. He said that he hasn't received any information from the authorities, but he thought the photo delivers some kind of message. Zhao's son-in-law Wang Zhihua: "The fact the 18th Congress' media center published this photo is at least a message." Showing Zhao Ziyang's photo is welcomed by Yao Jianfu, from the former think-tank of Zhao Ziyang. Zhao's former think-tank member Yao Jianfu: "I feel that standing on a historical point, it's normal to show their photos. Now is the 18th Congress, it's normal to publish the photos of each speaker. It's in line with the reality of history." However, Yao Jianfu thought such an action doesn't mean that the CCP will reform. Yao Jianfu: "Respect for history is different from reform. As for the meaning of the photo, let's analyze it after reading the report of the 18th Congress. I will not infer it because they are two different things, and don't have a reason-result relationship." The "June 4th" incident has been treated as a "minefield" by the CCP. Zhao Ziyang sympathized with the students and opposed the force used against the students. But he was dismissed from all his positions inside and outside the party and was under house arrest for 15 years until he died just because of it. In addition, two days before the publishing of the photo, "Beijing News" reported a full-page interview with Zhao's Daughter, Wang Yannan in a high profile. It used pictures, combined with texts, talked about Wang Yannan's experience and achievement in a cultural relics auction. But just recently on June 4th 2012, Wang Yannan told "Voice of America" that the injustice of "June 4th" hasn't been redressed for 23 years, which is simply ridiculous. She said: "every conscientious person on earth, each Chinese knows well what 'June 4th'means; there's a barrier put up by the CCP." She called on Hu, Wen and Xi to redress "June 4th" as soon as possible. The British "Financial Times" reported previously that the CCP Prime Minister Wen Jiabao has mentioned three times in the CCP senior officials secret meetings that the CCP should redress "June 4th" incident. During these days leading up to the 18th Congress, CCP's media has released info on political reform many times. Therefore, are all these facts a coincidence? Or is the information being released intentionally by the highly political sensitive CCP? Wang Zhihua: "The authorities didn't make contact with us by any means which is very clear. Because those things aren't transparent in China, and everybody is guessing. If the CCP will undertake political reform, it's not an issue of one or two people, but a huge and very deep problem. It certainly will have to be taken step by step. Based on the situation you just mentioned, it's difficult for me to judge because I haven't heard anything from official channels." In October, during Zhao Ziyang's 93 year anniversary, Hong Kong media reported that the CCP's suppression of the local protests is relatively looser than usual. But Wang Zhihua said restriction still exists. Wang Zhihua: "It's sure that somebody wants to come but can't, like Bao Tong. There's restriction. It's sure that some people are not allowed to come, especially during sensitive days like 'June 4th'anniversary, the 18th Congress, etc." As for Hu Yaobang, the BBC reported on November 1 that Hu Deping, the son of Hu Yaobang told a reporter of "International Herald Tribune" that in fact, CCP is fascist. ShenYunPerformingArts.org/- published: 06 Nov 2012

The Anniversary of Hu Yaobang's Death
Follow us on TWITTER: http://twitter.com/cnforbiddennews Like us on FACEBOOK: http://www.facebook.com/chinaforbiddennews April 15 is the 25th anniversary of Chinese Communist Party (CCP) General Secretary Hu Yaobang's death. The CCP did nothing unusual except it didn't delete the memorial articles on the internet. A few days ago, the retired former CCP General Secretary Hu Jintao visited the old home of Hu Yaobang. This attracted the public's attention on the day of the 1989 pro-democracy date. However, some commentators believe it doesn't mean the CCP has a new evaluation of Hu Yaobang even if they can tolerate more of his memory. After Hu Yaobang's death on April 15, 1989 public memorials to him became a democracy movement of requesting anti- corruption within the CCP and resulted in the June 4 Tiananmen Square massacre. Chinese Communist Party Canceled UK Human Rights Talks A Foreign Office spokesman told the Guardian newspaper: "We are disappointed that the Chinese government this week postponed the dialogue, due to take place on 16 April." The Tibet Society said in a blogpost that it understood China didn't agree with the agenda put forward by the UK and was angered by the UK's role at the recent UN Human Rights Council meeting about China's human rights record. The UK is thought to have become involved in disputes between China and NGOs at the meeting. Chinese diplomats attempted to block a call by NGOs for a minute's silence in memory of Cao Shunli, a Chinese rights activist who died in custody on 14 March. Citizens Upgraded Protests Against Buildingthe Crematorium Guangdong peoples' protests against the construction of a crematorium close to the residential area continues. On April 14, thousands of people went on strike and gathered at the City government to protest. The authorities deployed hundreds of police who were violent towards the protestors. There was one death, 10 injured and 10 arrested. But the local government denied any casualties through its official microblogging. However, the authorities still strictly control the media, blocking websites, Bulletin boards and deleting lots of posts. Several Activists Were Restricted At Yang Kuang's Trial The case of Hong Diaoyu defender Yang Kuang's illegal crossing of the border is at trial on April 14 in Shenzhen Nanshan District Court. The judge said the sentence will be optional for the case. Yang Kuang's 70-year-old parents and his wife Liu Shasha were allowed to attend the court. Several Shenzhen activists were prohibited from supporting Yang Kuang in the court. Buddhist Miaojue Master was taken away by Nanshan district police and no information was released. ShenYunPerformingArts.org/- published: 15 Apr 2014
