Tomáš Klus (born May 15, 1986) is a Czech musician and songwriter from the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic.
Klus was born in the industrial town of Třinec, where he spent most of his childhood. Both his parents were folk music fans, taking Tomáš with them to many different concerts and music festivals. Growing up he was heavily influenced by musicians Karel Plíhal, Karel Kryl and Jaromír Nohavica who were a big inspiration to the young Tomáš, especially Nohavica, who remains one of his favourite musicians, and whose style his own closely resembles.
Klus won a gold medal with his team in 2002 in modern pentathlon on a European championship, but became more interested in performance art and music after moving to Prague, where he initially moved aged 15 to pursue a sporting career.
In 2007 he was the winner of the Czech Talent Zlín competition.
In 2008 he released his debut album, Cesta do záhu(d)by. The single "Do Nebe," featured in the album, was played on Czech Radio previous to the album release. He also produced music for Czech film Anglické jahody ("English Strawberries").
She sparkles, she dazzles, she lights up the room
We walked together to a table for two
Every man stares but her eyes are only for me
We take to the dance floor, she squeezes my hand
I can’t believe just how lucky I am
Meanwhile, back in the back of my memory
You’re still dancing with me
And I’m holding you once again
Meanwhile
We move to the end of a beautiful night
Tender the kisses, soft candlelight
She draws the curtains and slowly we climb up the stairs
And reach for each other, the passion begins
We fall together as lovers and then
Meanwhile, back in the back of my memory
You’re still lying with me
And I’m holding you once again
I try and I try, Lord knows I do
But each time my heart beats back to you
Meanwhile, I’ll go on living my life now
I’ll find a way somehow
Oh, meanwhile, back in the back of my memory
You’ll always be with me
But I’ll never hold you again
Just in a simple conversation
You can hear the feeling change
Down to the sea
And if you need an explanation
I defy you to explain
But something's not the same
And it's bothering me
I think I see where I went wrong
I think I see what's going on
Meanwhile and far away
As the night draws in
He's holding her right now
I can feel it all begin
Meanwhile and far away
When the day is done
I ride away with my friend
Into the setting sun
And the rivers running down
Down to the sea
I let love slip right through my fingers
And I watched it drift away
But still I had to say
What was written for me
I thought I'd end up as the hero
Thought the glory would be mine
Very soon I was to find
It wasn't to be
'Cos in this part I've got to play
It doesn't quite turn out that way
Meanwhile and far away
As the night draws in
He's holding her right now
I can feel it all begin
Meanwhile and far away
When the day is done
I ride away with my friend
Into the setting sun
And the rivers running down
Jack confides in Catherine
That he?s filing for divorce
Catherine gives her promise
To keep it secret but of course
As soon as backs are turned in soaps
They?re sharpening their claws
Meanwhile my whole world is collapsing
The congregation?s nervous
Especially bride to be
There?s three of them, she?d rather have
Gone down on bended knee
Credits roll on, ?Speak up now
Or forever hold your peace?
Meanwhile my whole world is collapsing
It?s pretty odd some two bob God
Can somehow grip the nation
But maybe to us sad old mares
It?s a form of consolation
Makes us feel creative in a life minus creation
Meanwhile our whole world is collapsing
Look out on the streets outside, catch a conversation
The whole wide world is collapsing
The oldest of the brothers
The audience thought was dead
Returns to find his sister and his wife
Tucked up in bed
If this is true to life
Feed me fantasy instead
Meanwhile the whole world is collapsing
It?s pretty odd some two bob God
Can somehow grip the nation
But maybe to us sad old mares
It?s a form of consolation
Makes us feel creative in a life minus creation
Meanwhile our whole world is collapsing
Riots on the streets outside, they?re tearing up a nation
The whole wide world is collapsing
These petty little problems
They bring into our home
We actually tend to laugh about
'Cause ours would not get shown
And suffering's so much funnier
When it?s theirs and not your own
Meanwhile your whole world is collapsing
It?s pretty odd some two bob God
Can somehow grip the nation
But maybe to us sad old mares
It?s a form of consolation
Makes us feel creative in a life minus creation
Meanwhile our whole world is collapsing
Look out on the streets outside, catch a conversation
The whole wide world is collapsing
Toys scattered everywhere
Thought I would but I don't care
There's so little time to spare
In my day
You're growing up so quickly
I wonder where the time has gone
Every moment is a treasure
I know one day, you'll be gone
Meanwhile ... stay close to me
sweet child ... as you can be
I should be Dr Doorite
I should be so strong
I won't go to the Doctor
He might tell me something's wrong
Meanwhile ... stay close to me
sweet child ... as you can be
Meanwhile ... stay close to me
sweet child ... as you can be
Half the world is starving dying of disease
World military expenditure increases
Looked at my window for Robinson Crusoe
All I can see is Daniel Defoe
Everyone movin' in different directions
I don't know which way I can go, tell me
Now I like the blues and I like cathedrals
I like the ladies' hands on my knee
I don't care what you think of my music
I sure care a lot what you think about me
Meanwhile, the man inside me rages
He's tryin' to be free, you know he tryin' to be released
Meanwhile, clean out your cages
The nearer you're gonna get, the closer you're gonna be
The nearer you'll get, the closer you'll be
The nearer you'll get, the closer you'll be
The nearer you get, the closer you'll be
I like the blues and I like the Beatles
I like the ladies' hands on my knee
I don't care what you think of my music
I sure care a lot what you think about me
Meanwhile, the man inside me rages
He's trying to be free, you know he's tryin' to be released
Meanwhile, clean out your cages
The nearer you're gonna get, the closer you're gonna be
The nearer you'll get, the closer you'll be
The nearer you'll get, the closer you'll be
You've changed the world around you
Is it better now?
No starving anymore
Hey, is it better now?
Your helpless little fingers
They've never been as calm as now
Your trembling is over
It's better now
If there was a light in the dark
I would try to wake you up
Could I look into your eyes
While another baby cries
Forgive me
I see the children in the playfield
You had to leave your place
Your silent accusation
They took away your face
Your little life was over
before it ever had begun
Your little wings were broken
You've never reached the sun
If there was a light in the dark
I would try to wake you up
Could I look into your eyes
Would you take my alibis
Forgive me
Ev'rybody knows it
Repression is the way
You're not the child next door
You're much too far away
But there's no light in the dark
So I won't try to wake you up
I couldn't look into your eyes
In this world of alibis
The scent of the earth Seems to vanish in the heavens Now you've scattered your seeds And swept away all dead leaves There's an acrid smell that hides your mouth Smell as gray as the eyes of who wanted to fade the sun As the thirst of wealth in everyone Now it's time to think Cause I don't want to forget the shape of stars over my head Out comes the rain, I'm still waiting in vain Waiting for another rainbow, I decide to stay Closed in myself all days Searching for another answer.
The silence is faded, ether, cotton, calm, fleeting, weightless, unique and much sought different, empty, intriguing It wants to ask you to listen like it has its own sound I know the sky is falling I know the silence is coming here I follow silence daily I know the silence is coming here The silence is faded, ether, cotton, calm, fleeting, weightless, unique and much sought different, empty, intriguing it loves to surround you with nothing like a mother rocks you to sleep it doesn't like being interrupted by noises that obstruct it's balm
When I feel down at all that I believe in nonsense once for all I feel all up. Images hit my target eye, politics waste words in my mind, world makes a thrifling death Sick and tired about my heroes, I must look only in my miror when I feel down at all, sick and tired about my heroes I must look only in my miror when I feel down at all I live for none, I live for I pray for something different I live for none, I live for none.
One cold January night while walking home I hear the sound of my footsteps on the road while for a moment still engulfed in your perfume i watch the white smoke of my breath disappear One cold January night while walking home I hear the sound of my footsteps on the road which is soailed by a silent mist the lights form the lamposts creates a surrealistic aseptic feeling
In this atmosphere in which all is cold and inert, I catch you in a photo sink into a cloud. A rusty gray background choked by cement where millions of colours are hidden behind... talkin' about this superficial world. Millions of smells which all mingle in one millions of people who wander around(deep) millions of noises united in one, millions of colours are hidden behind...
A smile stolen from nature taken from the pale sun relights the colours of the hills. Untidy hair's child under oak roof move like a branchy tree searching for an hidden treasure thru the dry leaves of the woods of pleasure, the woods of the hills... thru the dry leaves in the woods echoes of gunshots flying birds he clenched the fist with a few shells and started to run away from there...
Everyday everything around you always look the same, I can't imagine your life in another way. Cheer up! Slave of your passions, continue to strike the right key. It's time to patch up your past and continue to hold on to the last Try to wake up, tuck up your sleeves, free the prejudice and follow the advice friend 'cause things stand like that, don't waste your time, You may be wrong but your life can change if you want.
I try to listen, listen to you to wake up alone in my heart for this word, for one word, in this world, in my mind. I forgot your smile to many times but I can't forget when you show me that you cry. I broke your sweet heart, I'm fallin' down now and now, pray you please forgive me I try again to make a change in my sick mind, 'cause I need you everyday in this cold life, I know I'm falling, I know I'm falling, now I'm falling in love with you It's time to make one, make a change because I fall and I don't know why I know I miss you, I know I need you I know, I'm falling in love wih you I try again to make a change in my sick mind, 'cause I need you everyday in this cold life, I know I'm falling, I know I'm falling, now I'm falling in love with you
It's just like drops of rain, the action, words and looks of others fall on me in the weirdest & uncanny moments I find myself by means of my friends chatting of their passions. Expression is a game we play to grow. Gray smell in a little room painted by disordered colours pieces of drawing paper on the wall sink into the armchair I listen to a friendly speech playing with a coffee colour pen. Expression differentiates us stimulate curiosity & opens my heart to people and myself I love looking at the silent faces of the ones beside me incredibly fascinating light. I love to fell it on my skin floatin' thru the air inevitably, everything's part of me.
Sometimes I imagine my life's like a chessboard where even a piece influences my game. Sometimes I dream of living inside a sphere where I can watch everything that surrounds me. When I open my eyes, I feel the weight of everyday so even my pride escapes from problems to be free and safe. I breathe the same air and the same smells, knowing that nobody can repay me for the loss of my chess piece.
7:43 pm waiting an overdued train I spend my time nervously biting my nails, reading some newspaper's headlines under a cold station light, you're so close to me Waitin' for your silhouette on the stairs I realize that nothing compares to you I miss the way you look at me you crane your neck above the stairs I miss the way you make me feel can wait for hours. I don't care. Oh my God I feel like a child who passionately wants his gift and it always arrives too late. For a moment I hear the bell it tells me you're close to me yeah, I'm so close to you Searching between 62 little squares searching for your smile brings to the window waitin' for your silhouette on the stairs I realize that nothing compares to you I miss the way you look at me you crane your neck above the stairs I miss the way you make me feel can wait for hours. I don't care.
It doesn't matter if it's wrong or right. Years passed by joking and laughing timeless days amusing for nothing It doesn't matter if it's wrong or right. It doesn't matter, for us it's ok, staying together keeps problems away It doesn't matter if it's wrong or right. You, only you, you've pasted emotions in my mind, and want to try to keep everything alive. You, you've never trusted in your heart but I appreciate you simply as you are. as you are, but think that time never goes back. There is a place, a place for secrets feel your heart lookin' back with no regrets It doesn't matter if it's wrong or right.
Follow the waves... the wave of my soul is strong and great It's just like being part of one of theese, almost the others that live in the ocean. It moves, breathes and lives and finally crashes upon the shore... Day by day, wave after wave, life into lives, the union of people is like a still moment in which time stops then it all begins again
Cut out all frontiers and draw me some pearl strings to wind around me tears, so that I look up the sky over me and rock me asleep until lights end and clouds come so deep. Slowly tell me I'm your need, I'm your smile, I'm your passion, your creed bitter-sweet taste lips Take me away where some white stars light up your skin lightin' it softly Cut down all mistakes and draw me a black line to follow your way I know all the blots can't be wiped out by the time I note down my days underline every wrong word I say Slowly I take my wings and simply start to fly inside your dreams floating in your mind I can't go back cause I see the man that I should be the words you desire Yes I know you're my mirror, my reflection, my blue pen over this sheet, silence strenght that makes we meet I hear your smell when you're far away heart beats givin' light to all my days I know for certain
A cold friday morning I was sit on my desk, the sound of radiator confuses my head, I ask me I don't know where have I been? I watch my reflection over the screen The shadow fades over my skin as I simply touch this flat screen searching rounded shapes in a pixel sea. Nothing sorrounds me, I wait in silence while this outline stares at me, everytime I look into these eyes behind the squared black.
I saw a tramp he was dirty and worried
On the plus side he was never that hurried
On the downside his clothes smelt of curries
It was lucky he knew how to live off of berries
All of this time the bumble bees mumbled
Cross country trains still rattled and rumbled
Tupperware parties sold out of tumbles
Wimbledon stares for glances at wombles
I saw a man he had really dark stubble
On the plus side he scored top points at pinball
On the downside he was awful at scrabble
It was magic to see him suck smoke out of bubbles
All of this time the new mothers mingled
Doctors with scratches diagnosed shingles
Speed dating fairs for continual singles
Children with matches re-organise kindle
I saw a boy he was simple and muttered
On the plus side he could spread his own butter
On the down side his mum lived in gutters
It was tragic to see how some people suffer
All of this time the tide crept and tumbled
I cooked an appled it turned and it crumbled
Oscar nominations so humble so humble
My itchy feet got scratchy and fungal
I saw a girl she was drunk and she stumbled
On the plus side she had really cute dimples
On the down side she would down shots and fumble
It was tragic to see her suck spit out of bottles
All of this time there was friction at bingo
Blackcurrant wars for ribena and vimto
Made up names like jenga and slingo
Harrisons death for john paul and ringo
I saw a suit and he walked like a tyrant
On the plus side his tie was quite vibrant
On the downside he was awkwardly silent
It was magic to see him sponsor an island
All of this time the second hand circled
Sea eagles still tried to break open turtles
Cross-pollination for flowers unfertile
Some crazy girl buys everything purple
I saw a lady she ate like a falcon
On the plus side she made visitors welcome
On the downside she would struggle with vaccuums
It was magic to see how she reused the breadcrumbs
When the sun shines old gentlemen grumble
When the clouds rain old women sell jumble
Clumsy fingers still trying on thimbles
Cruschendoes built from crashes of cymbals
La la la la...
Na na na...
