After gangster Mulligan's cars colony, fleeing northern justice, finds a hiding place in Alabama, spoiled, naive daughter Grace refuses to travel on after seeing the Manderlay cotton plantation being run under slavery rules, called Mam's law, inclusive flogging. She keeps half of dad's goons as guard to force the dying matriarch-owner's heirs, which she shamelessly dispossesses and reduces to 'staff', to taste destitution under absurd, gun-imposed contracts. The 'slaves' are made free partners, supposed to vote for progress after lessons from Grace. But almost all her democracy-pupils prove fickle, dumb and selfish, except old Willem. Her and their ignorance in Southern planting and crafty Dixie ways means more problems are created then solved. By the time dad returns to pick her up or abandon her for good, she's the one who has learned and changed the most.

Thomas is working at the Clay Pits when a storm closes in and the rain makes the clay cliffs unstable. A flash of lightning reveals what looks like giant footprints on the slope above, but a landslide has begun and Thomas cannot stay to investigate. Bill and Ben push Thomas to safety just in time. Unable to go back and confirm what he saw, Thomas tells Percy about it, but Percy quickly becomes convinced that there is a monster on the island. He even becomes frightened of taking the mail train at night. When an unusual engine with sloping boilers first appears, Percy thinks he must be the monster. James teases Percy and tries to scare him even more, but the new engine, who is called Gator, proves to be a good friend and ally, who helps Percy discover what it really means to be brave. It's long, high and steep and very easy to build. This track expansion pack really shows how dynamic the new Trackmaster 2 system is compared to the classic Trackmaster or older TOMY blue track system. With this new system there is a real feeling that you can keep building up higher and higher. It brings a whole new playing adventure to Sodor Island Thomas & Friends playtime. I know many Thomas fans and lovers of the TOMY blue and classic Trackmaster don't like the new Trackmaster trains. I feel it's important to look at the history of the classic Trackmaster system so we can get our heads around the changes. So I show an old unboxed Percy which reminds us of how things used to be. Seeing the classic Trackmaster range will bring back some fond memories. But lets also remember the nightmare of different internal designs and battery configurations between the Thomas & Friends character models. There used to be AA, AAA, C batteries used across the range. All these different motor and battery configurations added much cost to the toy company and it's obvious that Trackmaster 2 is all about applying a standard internal design to the Thomas and Friends Trackmaster characters. This simplification has some major advantages to the toy company and consumers, but are we left with a better looking and performing toy? Does a child playing with this new design really care if it looks a little bit different? I'm sure if there is more fun to be had it will be a winner, because playing with toys is all about fun. Thomas The Tank Engine has a new 2014 Trackmaster motorized toy train system just in time for the new Thomas & Friends movie Tale Of The Brave. Not only is there a new track design, Thomas The Tank has been completely redesigned from the wheels up. Gone is the classic shape from the popular and well loved TOMY Thomas The Tank design which did carry over to the first version of Trackmaster. In this toy review I get my first taste of the new 2014 Trackmaster (or as some say Trackmaster 2) system via a quite amazing Thomas & Friends playset called Deluxe Avalanche Escape Set. This toy train set is actually two smaller sets connected as one. There is a thrilling steep and dangerous mountain climb and decent surrounded by a very spooky and scary train ride around sodor, many of these elements are also in the Thomas & Friends Troublsome Traps set. All up this 2 in 1 train set is very impressive BUT sadly the new redesigned Thomas The Tank is a severe let down compared to the previous designs. The major new feature of the redesigned Thomas & Friends engines is the heavily geared rear traction tyre, in fact it's more like a cogged wheel designed for mountain railways or even roller coasters. These wheels keys into the new Trackmaster track very well enabling for some very steep climbs which have been impossible in previous playset designs. There is also a faster speed and power from 2 AAA batteries. But in this new design Thomas has lost much of his classic charm that the original Trackmaster train displayed. I know this will disappoint many hard core Thomas fans. Even though the older style of Trackmaster Thomas could not work on this playset part of the fun was seeing the new Thomas shove the old Thomas around. There are plenty of thrills and spills as my son adds Troublsome Trucks, My Little Pony's and a Knock Off clone Thomas to the playset. In this video it's important to see how my son reacted to this toy, remember it's designed for children his age. He will not have the critical analysis I will have as an adult Thomas The Tank collector or toy reviewer here on YouTube. I do wonder why Mattel did this massive re-design of a toy train system which was in my mind very well designed and very popular. The classic Trackmaster track was easy to set up and change if needed. I have found this new style track is a bit too tight when joined and difficult to pull apart. The track sections also seem shorter. I know there will be many Thomas fans who will reject this new Trackmaster system. One thing for sure is my son loves it, and possibly this is what Mattel is banking on by making these changes. I purchased this toy at Costco Australia for an amazingly low price. Though Tommy Rogers is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist (he recorded most everything himself on the previous album), for this new album he enlisted the talents of a former band mate. Fans will surely recognize percussionist Will Goodyear, who performed drums on "Modern Noise." Goodyear, who is currently in Grohg, previously played with Tommy on the self-titled Between the Buried and Me album, as well as their previous band, Prayer for Cleansing. The two have a natural synergy, and that was only enhanced while working with longtime Between the Buried and Me producer, Jamie King, at The Basement Studios in North Carolina. Rogers adds, "having Will play on the record was such a wonderful experience. We have a very long history together and I'm glad we found a way to create something together again. He was a perfect addition to the record. He made every song better naturally and really brought the album to life. A very creative mind." The two were quite happy with the result, Goodyear said: "Working on "Modern Noise" reminded me of how simple it is to make great music when you're surrounded by the right people. The back and forth of the creative process between Tommy, Jamie, and myself was totally fulfilling, yielding some very cool unexpected moments." What is "Modern Noise"? The title is merely a statement that reflects what they are creating: their take on the modern rock sound. Tommy Roger explains the title and music: "This record was an outcome of me creating songs while not wanting to over evaluate the music. I wanted to record things that naturally came to me and because of this, the record feels like an accurate extension of myself. I took a more rock approach and really focused on writing simple yet dynamic songs. Lyrically, I feel it's a great mix of storytelling and personal experience. "Modern Noise" is basically just saying this is my current noise on the earth. We all are here for a short amount of time and the noise we make is our memory." Fans of Tommy's work with Between the Buried and Me, as well as fans who steer clear of anything metal related, will find plenty to enjoy here as this is nothing short of a well written, genuine, and intensely passionate modern rock/progressive album. This is Tommy's take on music, or as he says: "Music is always Modern Noise. I'm just a person in current time trying to create something somewhat new."
