This is Part 1 of two videos that are going to be about this Dell Latitude D505 laptop. I'm waiting on some more parts so when they come Part 2 will be made. Anyways, I purchased this laptop from YouTube user Blueblur444, who is the same person I got the Dell Precision M4300 from back in December 2013. I payed $20 for this laptop and for what it is and how old it is it's in really nice shape, the only real wear on it is keyboard wear, but for a 11 year old laptop that's expected. However, there is a problem with this laptop, it wasn't reading any hard drives. I was told that all this laptop needed was a hard drive, and since I had one that would fit it perfectly that wouldn't have been a problem. However it did have a hard drive inside (a 30GB Seagate IDE drive) but the system wasn't seeing it or any other hard drive I tried. I initially thought that the laptop's hard drive controller was dead, but after taking it apart down to the motherboard I realized that all it needs is an adapter to go from the proprietary Dell interface to IDE. I didn't think that these D-series laptops used them but it turns out they do so I've ordered one on eBay so once it comes I'll make the next part of the video which will include the Windows installation and stuff like that.
